Former Pro Bowl defender Marcellus Wiley added his name to a lawsuit accusing NFL teams of illegally dispensing powerful narcotics and other drugs to keep players on the field without regard for their long-term health. "The first thing people ask is, knowing what happened, would you do it again?" said Wiley, currently an ESPN analyst. "No. No I wouldnt." The lawsuit was originally filed May 20 in U.S. District Court in northern California and amended Wednesday to add 250 more players, bringing the total to 750 plaintiffs. Wiley, who played in Buffalo, San Diego, Dallas and Jacksonville from 1997-2006, is the ninth player identified by name, joining former Chicago Bears Jim McMahon, Richard Dent and Keith Van Horne, Jeremy Newberry and others. The lawsuit, which is seeking class certification, covers the years 1968-2008. It contends team physicians and trainers across the NFL routinely -- and often illegally -- provided powerful narcotics and other controlled substances on game days to mask the pain. Among them were the painkillers Percodan, Percocet and Vicodin, anti-inflammatories such as Toradol, and sleep aids such as Ambien. Lead attorney Steven Silverman said some teams filled out prescriptions in players names without their knowledge or consent. He said those drugs were then "handed out like candy at Halloween" and often combined in "cocktails." NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the league had no comment. The former players have reported a range of debilitating effects, from chronic muscle and bone ailments to permanent nerve and organ damage to addiction. The players contend those health problems came from drug use but many of the conditions arent tied to the use of painkillers. Six of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit, including McMahon and Van Horne, were also parties to the concussion-related class-action lawsuit filed against the NFL less than a year ago. The NFL agreed to pay $765 million to settle that case -- without acknowledging it concealed the risks of concussions from former players. A federal judge has yet to approve the settlement, expressing concern the amount is too small. Wiley, 39, was not part of the concussion lawsuit, but decided to join former players in this one after suffering partial renal failure in April, despite no history of kidney problems. Wiley said he took "multiple injections" of painkillers over the course of a season to cope with an injury that then-San Diego team physician Dr. David Chao diagnosed as severe groin sprain. After the season, an independent doctor diagnosed a torn abdominal wall that required surgery. "You cant walk into a doctors office and say, "Give me this, give me that, just to get through the day. Somebody would shut the place down," Wiley said in a telephone interview. "But thats what was going on in the NFL. Its easy to get mesmerized. I wont deny that; theres this play through-the-pain, fall-on-the-sword culture, and somebody in line ready to step up and take your place... "And the next question when people hear about this stuff is wheres the personal responsibility? Well, Im not a medical doctor" he added, "but I did take the word of a medical doctor who took an oath to get me through not just one game, or one season, but a lifetime. Meanwhile, hes getting paid by how many bodies he gets out on the field." Chao stepped down as San Diegos team physician last June, after the NFL Players Association called for him to be replaced and filed a complaint. An independent panel cleared Chao. In April, as part of a stipulated settlement, Chao was placed on probation by the Medical Board of California. His license was also revoked, but that action was stayed while he remains on probation. He was accused of committing gross negligence, repeated negligent acts and acts of dishonesty or corruption. Chao was also found liable of malpractice in 2012 in a case involving a regular patient, not a Chargers player, with a judgment of nearly $5.2 million. Records also show he has been publicly reprimanded by the board and pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. The lawsuits main burden is proving cause and effect -- that use of painkillers in the past caused the chronic problems the players face now. The players also would have to show that they are suffering those problems at a greater rate than other people their age, and that its not due to other risk factors such as obesity, smoking and family history. UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Kevin Poulins sigh of relief and wide smile summarized the game for the New York Islanders after they stymied the Nashville Predators to end a four-game skid. Poulin made 32 saves to back the scoring of John Tavares, Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Kyle Okposo as the Islanders stopped the Predators 3-1 Tuesday night after their disappointing trip. The 23-year-old Poulin, who has played well in a backup role to starter Evgeni Nabokov, was sharp throughout as the Islanders improved to 7-9-3. "I felt really good from the beginning," said Poulin, who won for the second time in six games this season. "I was seeing the pucks well all night and was glad to see us play a strong game as a team." Predators right wing Patric Hornqvist ruined Poulins shutout bid with his fifth goal of the season with 5:30 remaining. Nashville (8-8-2) was playing the sixth game of a seven-stop road trip. The Predators lost 5-0 at both Winnipeg and New Jersey before visiting the Islanders. They conclude their journey at Pittsburgh on Friday. "We were slow to the puck all night and they did a better job winning the 1-on-1 battles," Predators coach Barry Trotz said. "Were going through a tough time. We have to tighten up and put together better efforts." Tavares opened the scoring with 4:30 left in the first period with a power-play goal, his eighth of the season. Tavares was alone in the slot when he took a pass from Frans Nielsen from along the left boards as Nashvilles David Legwand served an elbowing penalty. Tavares settled the puck before firing it past Predators goaltender Marek Mazanec, who was making his first NHL start. The 22-year-old Czech netminder was recalled from Milwaukee of the AHL last week to back up Carter Hutton, already the backup to starter Pekka Rinne who is out with a lingering hip infection. Bouchard scored his fourth of the season with 2:37 remaining in the first, also with an assist from Nielsen. Okposo increased the lead to 3-0 at 7:07 of the second, rifling a slap shot from the left circle past Mazanec for his sixth of the year. The Islanders collectively lifted their game as they were missing high-scoring left wing Thomas Vanek for the second straight contest. New York acquired Vanek on Oct. 27 from Buffalo for popular winger Matt Moulson. Vanek suffered an upper body injury early in last Saturdays loss at Columbus. "I like that we got our speed going and put together a solid team effort tonight," said Tavares, who assisted on Okposos goal and leads the Islanders with 22 points. "It was important that we came home and played a strong game like this. Hopefully we can build on it." New York beat Boston 3-1 in their previous home game on Nov. 2 -- when Vanek scored his first goal with the Islanders -- then lost at Washington, Carolina, Columbus and Montreal. The Islanders have had little success against the Predators through the years. The victory was New Yorks first against Nashville in regulation since April 2002 and their first win at Nassau Coliseum over the Predators since a 2-1 triumph way back on Nov. 7, 2000. Nashville had been 8-0-2 in their last 10 meetings with the Islanders, including a 3-2 home win on Oct. 12. "We played a solid game start to finish," Islanders coach Jack Capuano said. "We were disciplined and our goaltender played very well. This was a total team effort." The Islanders host Los Angeles on Thursday before welcoming the Detroit Red Wings to Long Island on Saturday to complete the homestand. NOTES: The Islanders continued to be without D Lubomir Visnovsky (concussion) and D Brian Strait (upper body). ... The Islanders are 7-1-2 when they score at least three goals. ... According to Nets first-year coach Jason Kidd, there are some plays his reserve guard understands pretty well. "Its called shoot it," Kidd said. Thornton did just that on his way to scoring 15 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter against his old team while Joe Johnson added 18 points to help Brooklyn overcame an injury to Paul Pierce in a 104-89 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night. Alan Anderson had 11 points and Shaun Livingston and Deron Williams each scored 10 points as the Nets won for the fifth time in six games. Brooklyns win was its seventh straight at the Barclays Center, matching a season-high set Dec. 27, 2013 to Jan. 24, 2014. Thornton, acquired from the Kings in exchange for Reggie Evans and Jason Terry on Feb. 19, took it to his former teammates over a four-minute stretch that bridged the end of the third quarter and the opening minutes of the fourth. With 5.5 seconds remaining in the third, Thornton made a 3-pointer to extend Brooklyns lead to 77-65. Thornton then continued his streak of 13 straight points by opened up the final quarter with a drive to the basket to extend the lead. He then stripped the ball from Ray McCallum and finger-rolled it to make it 81-65. McCallum later would throw the ball out of bounds and Andray Blatche found Thornton for another 3 that made it 84-68. He then concluded his hot streak with another 3 right over former teammates Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins to make it 87-69 with 9:58 to go and the Nets never looked back leading by as many as 24 in the period. "Anytime you see the ball go through the net, you get confidence about yourself," said Thornton, who scored 15 straight against Memphis last week. "I credit my teammates for finding me in spots I can be effective in. And my shots were going down." So far, Thornton been able to show flashes of that scorer Brooklyn was looking to add when they swung the deal before the trade deadline. Hes averaged 11.8 points in six games despite his limited knowledge of the teams offensive scheme. "If Im open, Im ((going) to shoot it," he said.dddddddddddd Thorntons presence off the bench will be even more crucial if Pierce is out for an extended amount of time. After the game, Kidd said the team would re-evaluate Pierce and Andrei Kirilenko, who left the game in the third quarter after spraining his right ankle. "Well, I stepped on Derons foot in the first quarter and felt a little tweak," Kirilenko said. "I thought I could keep going but obviously it just stopped me. I dont think its a serious injury." Brooklyn will host the Atlantic Division-leading Toronto Raptors on Monday night. The Raptors currently hold a four-game lead over the second-place Nets. Kings coach Michael Malone was criticial of the way the team mishandled the ball throughout the night while also singling out the way they shared the ball. "Once again we continue to beat ourselves on the road. Eleven assists in 48-minute game is absurd. More importantly is the 25 turnovers for 28 points," Malone said. "What I see now on both ends of the floor is a disease of me. Were becoming a selfish basketball team." Of the 25 turnovers forced by the Nets, 14 were steals. Cousins had 20 points and 28 rebounds to lead the Kings, and Gay added 20 points. "Turnovers killed us tonight," Cousins said. "Turnovers and Id say selfish basketball, thats what really hurt us tonight. We let Marcus Thornton get hot. We let one of those shooters hurt us and thats what kind of sealed the game." Brooklyn led by 16 points in the first half after losing Pierce to a right shoulder injury in the early minutes of the first quarter. However, Brooklyn outscored Sacramento 47-32 the rest of the way. Pierce got hurt with just under 11 minutes left in the first quarter when Sacramentos Jason Thompson backed him into the paint and as he kept looking to post Pierce in the paint, he quickly spun around for a layup. Pierce felt the force of Thompson banging into him and clutched his shoulder. Kevin Garnett has also missed the last five games with back spasms. NOTES: Brooklyn improved to 14-11 against the Western Conference this season but are 10-3 since Jan. 1. ... Brooklyns reserves outscored their counterparts 59-19. EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers assigned defenceman Darnell Nurse to the American Hockey Leagues Oklahoma City Barons, the NHL team announced Wednesday. Nurse, the Oilers first-round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, had 13 goals, 37 assists, and 91 penalty minutes this season with the Ontario Hockey Leagues Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The Hamilton native posted eight points with three goals and five assists in nine playoff games. The 19-year-old has spent three seasons with the Greyhounds, registering 101 points (26 goals and 75 assists) and 268 penalty minutes in 185 games. This was the ninth time this year that Ryu has allowed fewer than three earned runs, and he is 7-0 in those games. David Backes Jersey . “Im not sure well get Melky Cabrera at all,” said Gibbons. But Paul Osbaldiston, Hamiltons assistant special teams and kicking coach, said the team still relished the championship game workout.(SportsNetwork.com) - Queue the classic soundtracks and highlights from NFL Films with Sundays NFC divisional round playoff game between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys. Any number from Sam Spence would suffice for this anticipated matchup at Lambeau Field, where the storied Packers and Cowboys will meet in the playoffs for the first time since the 1967 NFL championship, which is more commonly dubbed as the Ice Bowl. Green Bay won that contest on the frozen tundra and is back in the playoffs for a sixth straight season. The Packers captured an NFC North title for a fourth straight season with a 12-4 record and went 8-0 at home. Packers quarterback and NFL MVP candidate Aaron Rodgers threw 25 touchdown passes to no interceptions at Lambeau Field. Rodgers led the Packers to seven wins in the last eight weeks of the regular season and will go toe-to-toe with Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. Romo led Dallas to an 8-0 road ledger, throwing for 20 touchdowns to just two interceptions away from home. Sundays playoff game marks the first time a team that finished 8-0 at home during the regular season hosting a team that was 8-0 on the road during the regular season. Green Bay is well aware of Dallas success outside Big D. This will be a big challenge. Its definitely something that jumps off the stat sheet when you see eight wins on the road, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said. McCarthy has led the Packers to the playoffs in seven of his nine seasons at the helm. Packers defensive back Micah Hyde isnt as impressed with the road success. We dont pay attention to them being 8-0 on the road because they havent come here and beaten us here at Lambeau, but its going to be a tough matchup and we understand that. Nobody entered Lambeau Field and escaped with a win this season. Whether it was at Lambeau Field or elsewhere around the league, Rodgers played as well as any quarterback in the NFL. He threw for 4,381 yards with 38 TDs to just five INTs. There was a five-game stretch from Nov. 9 - Dec. 8 in which he recorded 16 touchdown strikes to zero interceptions. Rodgers, who set an NFL single-season record with a 133.2 passer rating at home, is dealing with a calf injury and is not concerned about it. The rhythm is established, the play style is established, Rodgers said. Its really working on the checks and kind of going through the plan. Thats why you need to practice. He has 477 straight pass attempts and 38 touchdown passes in a row without an interception at home, including the postseason. Rodgers doesnt get enough credit for extending plays and has two 1,000-yard receivers in Jordy Nelson (1,519) and Randall Cobb (1,287). With his calf ailment, movement may be limited for Rodgers Sunday. Running back Eddie Lacy ran for 1,139 yards this season and takes pressure off of the QB. Nelson had 13 touchdown catches, Cobb recorded 12 and Lacy combined for 13 (9 rushing, 4 receiving). Meanwhile, the Cowboys edged the Detroit Lions, 24-20, last Sunday in a Wild Card matchup at AT&T Stadium. They got some favorable calls from the officials and erased an early 14-0 hole to move on to the divisional round for the first time since 2009. Its how weve responded all year long, Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said afterward. Romo threw for 292 yards with a pair of touchdown passes, none bigger than his eight-yard strike to Terrence Williams with 2:32 left in the game. Williams caught both of Romos touchdown passes. Dez Bryant, who led the team with 88 catches for 1,320 yards and a franchise-best 16 TDs in the regular season, was limited to 48 yards and three catches against Detroits tough defense. Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray was at it again versus the Lions with 75 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Murray is deserving of an MVP nod and led the NFL in rushing with a team-record 1,845 yards and 12 100-yard games. Murray was tied for the league lead in rushing scores with 13 and opened the season with eight straight 100-yard games for Dallas, which was second overall with 147.1 rushing yards per game. Sundays expected frigid conditions will either bring out the best in Murray, who is still dealing with a broken hand, or humble the tough runner. Either way, the Packers will be tested early on. The Dallas Cowboys run game is excellent, McCarthy said. Murray is a big- time back. Hes definitely a difference-maker. Hell definitely be a focal point for us. McCarthys Packers defeated the Cowboys, 37-36, on Dec. 15, 2013, as Lacy scored the go-ahead touchdown on a one-yard plunge with 1:31 remaining in the fourth quarter. Lacy had 141 yards on 21 carries, while Murray ran for 134 yards and a score on 18 touches. Romo threw for 358 yards to go along with two TDs and two INTs. Bryaant caught 11 passes for 153 yards and a score.dddddddddddd Rodgers did not play in that one because of a fractured collarbone. Dallas and Green Bay will meet for the seventh time in the postseason, where the Cowboys have won the last four matchups. The Cowboys lead the all-time series by a 16-15 count, including the playoffs. The Packers are 9-4 versus the Cowboys at home, including postseason play. Green Bay, which has won 13 NFL titles, is 16-5 all-time at home during the postseason, while Dallas has a 34-25 mark overall in the playoffs. The Cowboys last reached the NFC title game in the 1995 season, when they defeated the Packers and topped Pittsburgh in Super Bowl XXX. Green Bay last played on Championship Sunday in the 2010 campaign, beating Chicago before outlasting Pittsburgh to win Super Bowl XLV. WHAT TO WATCH FOR The weather conditions should have zero effect on the outcome of this game, unless its a blizzard. Still, players will be out on the field in short sleeves braving the cold, mostly the offensive and defensive linemen. Its probably going to be cold there. I have a pretty good feeling about that, Garrett said. Whatever the numbers say, we have to deal with those elements. Thats what happens when you go up to Green Bay this time of year. Keeping warm is key and both offenses have the talent and speed to break a sweat. Both secondaries will be tested, none more than the Cowboys defensive backfield. Cornerbacks Brandon Carr and Orlando Scandrick, and safeties Barry Church and J.J. Wilcox have to slow down Nelson and Cobb. The Cowboys did a nice job on Detroit star wideout Calvin Johnson, who had 85 yards on five catches and no touchdowns. Now they have their hands full with Nelson and Cobb. The duo became the first teammates in league lore to post at least 1,200 yards and 12 receiving TDs in the same season. This is a fun team to be on and the guys believe in each other, fight for each other and we stick together, Rodgers said. Winning the division was important as was getting that home playoff game. Were 8-0 at home so we want to keep that streak alive. This is what we love to do. I love the competition. Were all passionate about this game. The Cowboys have to pressure Rodgers and keep Lacy from setting the tempo. Rodgers can do that on his own and it will be lights out if he has the time to sit back and pick apart the defense (just ask Philadelphia). The Cowboys sacked Matthew Stafford three times last week. Jeremy Mincey had a sack and led the team with six. Mincey and linebacker Rolando McClain are nursing head injuries, while linebacker Anthony Hitchens is dealing with an ankle injury. All three are expected to be ready for this crucial playoff matchup. Green Bay is in the same shoes defensively facing a tough runner and a dynamic wide receiver. The Cowboys proved they can strike when Bryant is having trouble getting open, as Williams burned the Lions twice. Even tight end Jason Witten wasnt a factor. Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers has plenty of respect for Dallas. It starts with their running game. Youve got to be able to play both (run and pass) against these guys. Theyre not a one-dimensional team, Capers said. This is the best test weve had. This will be a challenge. Packers linebacker Clay Matthews led the team with 11 sacks, safety Morgan Burnett had 129 tackles and cornerbacks Sam Shields and Casey Hayward each had three interceptions. Green Bays 3-4 defensive scheme could struggle against Murray, and rookie safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix must be ready for Bryant. Veteran linebacker Julius Peppers plays on the outside and can still wreak havoc in the twilight of his career. He had seven sacks across 16 games. OVERALL ANALYSIS Dallas owner Jerry Jones said New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a rabid Cowboys fan, is a part of the teams mojo. Christie was in the owners box in a huge win against Philadelphia and also last week versus Detroit. Hes part of our mojo, Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. I want him there all the way. Ill tell you, if hes got enough mojo to pull this thing out, he ought to be looked at as President of the United States. The Cowboys have been perfect on the road, but the Packers are unbeaten at home. A black cat, lucky rabbits foot, knocking on wood, crossing fingers or perhaps a wishbone cant save the Cowboys now, and neither will the presence of Christie, who has drawn the ire of the Tri-State area for his rooting interest. May the best team win ... and the Packers will. Its great to be playing at home, we prefer to play here, McCarthy said This is playoff football and everything changes. But this is definitely where we want to play. ATLANTA -- It once looked like the Detroit Tigers would be catching a break by ending the regular season with an interleague series against the Braves in Atlanta, even if it meant no designated hitter. The Braves, though, no longer resemble the ballclub that seemed guaranteed to lose more than 100 games in the final season at Turner Field. The Tigers -- fighting for an American League wild-card spot -- will instead face an Atlanta team that has won 10 of its past 11 games and is 35-34 since the All-Star Game.Large crowds will be on hand to say good-bye to the Braves home for the past 20 years and the team wants to put on a good show.We kind of feel like have something to play for, too, Braves interim manager Brian Snitker said. I wouldnt say players talk about being spoilers. Its more looking forward to good games that mean something. We want to win these games, too. Were playing like were a half-game out in the wild-card.The Tigers, though, obviously have the most riding on the series and now have the prospect of an extra game on Monday if needed after being rained out at home against the Cleveland Indians on Thursday. The good news for Detroit is that there is little chance of rain in Atlanta this weekend. The Tigers (85-73) are 1 1/2 games in back of Toronto and Baltimore in the race for the two wild-card spots in the American League.Rookie left-hander Daniel Norris (3-2, 3.59 ERA) was pushed back by the rainout to start the series opener on Friday night, with Jordan Zimmermann (9-6, 4.88 ERA) now going on Saturday. Ace Justin Verlander (16-8, 3.10 ERA) will pitch on Sunday. The Braves will start Matt Wisler (7-12, 4.86 ERA) in the series opener, followed by rookie Aaron Blair (1-7, 8.02 ERA) and Julio Teheran (6-10, 3.10 ERA) -- the teams All-Star Game representative. The Tigers will have to adjust their lineup for the series with the absence of designated hitter Victor Martinez from the cleanup spot. The veteran switch-hitter cant play the field because of his knees and will be limited to pinch hitting.Thats the way it is, said Tigers manager Brad Ausmus, who is glad to at least have third baseman Nick Castellanos back from his broken hand.Martinezs absence puts extra importance on Miguel Cabrera, though. The first baseman is hitting .423 with two homers and 11 RBI during a seven-game hitting streak, and has a .352 average with 18 homers and 52 RBI in his past 62 games.Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman had his hitting and on-base streaks come to an end Thursday against Philadelphia at 30 and 46 games, respectively. He batted .384 during his hitting streak, which was the longest in the majors since 2011.Dan Uggla set an Atlanta franchise record by hitting in 33 straight games that year. The on-base streak was the longest by a Brave since Gary Sheffield set the Atlanta record of 52 games in 2002.The Tigers are 12-5 against interleague opponents this year, while the Braves (66-92) are 6-11. The teams have played 18 times, with Detroit winning 12 times. The Tigers have a .621 winning percentage against the National League since 2006.The Tigers-Indians game will be made up on Monday in Detroit if it carries postseason implications, either for Detroit in the wild-card race or Cleveland for postseason seeding. The Tigers could end up playing five games in five days in five different cities. After the game in Atlanta on Sunday, they could have to play the makeup game on Monday, then possibly go to Baltimore to play a wild-card tiebreaker against the Orioles on Tuesday, then a wild-card game on Wednesday and the AL Division Series on Thursday.Im aware of it, Ausmus said of the five-games-in-five-days possibility. But one thing at a time. If thats the scenario, thats a good thing. Its a good problem to have. Cheap Craig Biggio Jersey .500 on the season. CHICAGO -- Federal prosecutors in Chicago have filed fraud charges against an Arkansas sports memorabilia collector, accusing him of defrauding investors by offering a phony Heisman Trophy as collateral for a $100,000 loan.John Rogers of North Little Rock was charged with one count of wire fraud. According to court papers filed Friday, Rogers took a ceremonial Heisman Trophy that was awarded in 1960 to the emcee of the awards banquet and affixed a new nameplate, making it appear as if it had been given to the top college football player of the year.Rogers is set for arraignment next week in Chicago. The Chicago Tribune reported (http://trib.in/2colwLI ) that Rogers trophy purported to be from Oklahoma running back Billy Sims, who won in 1978 and is one of the few Heisman winners to sell his trophy. According to prosecutors, Rogers also created a fake letter from the Heisman winner confirming the authenticity of the trophy. While in suburban Chicago, Rogers was accused of sending an email in 2011 verifying the trophys provenance, which led to the federal wire fraud charge. The Heisman, which is the highest honor in colleege football, is given ceremonially on rare occasions to people who dont play college football, as it was in 1960, court papers said.ddddddddddddRogers is the former owner of Sports Card Plus and Rogers Photo Archive, which bought photo archives from newspapers and other collectors across the country. RIO DE JANEIRO -- Howard Shu was just 10 when he lost a match in his first badminton tournament to the top junior in his class.Shus mother was wowed by the talent on the other side of the net and asked the winners mother if her son would like to compete with Howard in doubles. The mother was blunt:Your son sucks.Shu laughed as he recalled the story that would serve as motivation for him to become more a serious badminton player. He returned to the same tournament the next year and beat the kid who was too good to team with Shu.Shus been winning matches around the world for most of the last 15 years. The top-ranked American singles player has his biggest match yet when he opens play Friday in a sport known more as a lazy backyard summer game than a serious sport in the Summer Games.China won gold in all five badminton events in 2012, and many top Chinese will again be contenders when play opens Wednesday.Shu would love to leave with a medal to go with another passport stamp. Shus Instagram page looks like something straight out of Wheres Waldo. Theres Shu chilling in a pool after the Olympic trials in Tahiti. Or hes snapping a selfie from Table Mountain in South Africa. He even posted a short clip of the time he pulled on a wetsuit and went swimming with the sharks in Cape Town, South Africa after he won a major international tournament. Sometimes, hes just kicking up his Jordans and relaxing.Shus thirst for adventure and his world-class skills have made him the natural spokesman for an American team hopeful of bringing home the countrys first medal in the sport. Badminton is on the short list of sports the U.S. has failed to even medal in, joining handball, rhythmic gymnastics, table tennis and trampoline. The 25-year-old Shu, who graduated from UCLA, isnt a strong medal favorite. But he has the type of charisma that could help Americans take notice of badminton for at least a few days should he advance deep into the tournament.Badminton is stuck in the same Rio de Janeiro complex as other minor sports that include weightlifting and table tennis. At the Olympic level, badminton smashes reach over 200 mph and boast long rallies that could rival the most thrilling in tennis. The shuttle whizzes across the net like a darting mosquito and only the best make sure the shuttlecock -- made of 16 goose feathers stuck to a leather-covered round cork, that weighs only about 5 grams -- never hits the floor.Every player has a different style. When I go on the court, its really like art, Shu said.Shus parents are both from Taiwan and his father played badminton. Shu started playing at 8, running around like a little brat when he tagged along with his dad. Shu played soccer and baseball, even basketball, which forged what he called an addiction to sneakers.Yes, the Shu certainly fits when it comes to calling him a Jordan aficionado. The sneaker junkie has more than 100 pairs of sneaks and multiples of his favorites (one to rock, one to stock) with a fondness for the Air Jordan 11s.Hes put some serious miles on his size-10 soles. The 6-foot-1 Shu has dominated badminton around the world, especially last year when he hit 30 countries in 12 tournaments, including one six-week stretch where he played on six continents. And one serious plunge with great white sharks .I was on such a high from a winning a tournament, I just said, `Im doing it, he said.Back on dry land, Shu posed for a photo with Kevin Durant at the opening ceremony parade and later watched the U.S. squad romp over Venezuela with friends and family from home.Hes part of a seven-member delegation thats a longshot to medal -- but hopeful to open American eyes to an underappreciated sport.I just want to go out there and show people what the sport can be, Shu said.---AP Summer Games website: http://summergames.ap.org Throwback Ravens Jerseys .com) - The Chicago Blackhawks aim for their third three-game winning streak of the season when they host the struggling Edmonton Oilers in Sundays battle at the United Center. Sri Lanka 330 for 7 (Dickwella 94, Kusal Mendis 94, Dhananjaya de Silva 58, Holder 3-57) beat West Indies 329 for 9 (Lewis 148, Holder 45*, Lakmal 2-67, Kulasekara 2-73) by one runScorecard and ball-by-ball detailsEvin Lewis, with just a handful of internationals under his name, struck a counter-attacking maiden ODI century to give West Indies more than just a sniff in their attempt to gun down a 300-plus chase for the first time in ODIs. Carlos Brathwaite and Jason Holder then came up with sprightly cameos to take West Indies to within 24 of Sri Lankas 330 for 7. Then, in a mirror image of Saturdays collapse that resulted in a tie, West Indies stumbled, this time to a one-run loss triggered by panic, poor shot selection and lackadaisical running between the wickets. The result meant Sri Lanka were assured of a berth in Sundays final, while West Indies and Zimbabwe will play a virtual semi-final on Friday to earn the right to meet Sri Lanka at the same venue. A tie or no-result would knock Zimbabwe out and ensure West Indies qualification.West Indies were in control until the last five overs of their chase. Carlos Brathwaite and Holder put together 45 for the seventh wicket, before Nuwan Kulasekara delivered an inswinging yorker that beat Brathwaite and hit middle stump. Suranga Lakmal then took over, bowling full and taking out Ashley Nurse in the next over. Suddenly, West Indies, who were cruising for most parts of the chase, needed 19 off 10 balls. It eventually boiled down to the final over, bowled by Nuwan Pradeep, with West Indies needing 10. After a single and a dot off the first two balls, Sulieman Benn muscled the third over deep midwicket to spark excitement in the West Indies camp. With three needed off three, Pradeep speared another yorker, before Benn holed out to sweeper cover, leaving Holder to score three off the final delivery. Pradeep bowled another one into the blockhole, with Holder only managing to squeeze it to cover for a single as Sri Lanka pulled off a heist. That meant Lewis 148, which contained 15 fours and four sixes, went in vain. His enterprise ensured West Indies rode the mini-wobbles and stood abreast with the asking rate for most parts of the chase. Then with the equation back into familiar territory - 154 off the last 20 overs with seven wickets in hand - he slowed down just a bit before recovering from a bout of cramps for one final hurrah.Brute force was justt one element of his knock.dddddddddddd. It was the other element - luck - that had played an equal part in West Indies chase. He was first put down on 26 by Kusal Mendis at backward point off Lakmal. Pradeep then reprieved him on 41 at mid-on. Then on 53, a close lbw shout went Lewis way. Given out, he reviewed the decision only for the third umpire to find the ball had pitched fractionally outside leg stump. That wasnt it. He survived a run-out chance on 114 when Niroshan Dickwella dislodged the bails before he could collect the ball cleanly. He continued to swing his way to make 148 before being stranded mid-pitch courtesy a mix-up with his captain Holder, with West Indies slipping to 262 for 6, needing 69 off 57 balls. Sri Lankas fielding nightmare extended to the end overs, with Upul Tharanga dropping a skier at mid-on to reprieve Carlos Brathwaite on 3. Sri Lankas fast bowlers, however, hit the blockhole with regularity in the end overs to bail the side out. That the bowlers had as many to defend was courtesy enterprising 94s from Kusal Mendis and Dickwella that contributed to Sri Lankas highest ODI score against West Indies. They lost Kusal Perera, cleaned up by Shannon Gabriel in the third over, but quickly got back on track courtesy Dhananjaya de Silvas exuberant 58. At one stage, Dhananjaya and Dickwella matched each other stroke-for-stroke; the shot of the innings being Dickwellas adventurous Dilscoop off Carlos Brathwaite.Dropped on 39 when Shai Hope put down a tough chance behind the stumps, Dickwella made them pay as he stitched together a 107-run stand with Kusal Mendis, who gradually switched gears. The hallmark of Kusals effort against spin was in sharp contrast to his measured approach against the fast bowlers - Gabriel constantly clocked average speeds of 145kph in a lively opening spell despite battling through a hamstring niggle - on a grassy surface that was half as menacing as it looked.Getting outside the line of the stumps, the sweep and the pull was his preferred mode of operation as he peppered the leg-side boundaries with five sixes. He fell six short of a maiden ODI century while trying to play a late dab, before Tharanga, the stand-in captain, and Pathirana then lent the finishing touches with cameos which made a difference in the end. Pakistanis 261 for 3 dec (Azhar 81, Masood 67) drew with Worcestershire 260 for 6 dec (Kohler-Cadmore 73, Clarke 58)Scorecard All Pakistans bowlers were made to work hard for their success on the second day against Worcestershire as Joe Clarke, the highly-rated 20-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman, and Tom Kohler-Cadmore struck half-centuries at New Road.Rahat Ali, an incumbent in the Test side, finished with 2 for 29 but both he and Wahab Riaz, who has also played the opening two Tests, could find themselves vulnerable if Pakistan opt to change the balance of their attack for Edgbaston.Imran Khan and Sohail Khan, both right-arm quicks, were given the most work by Azhar Ali but only managed a wicket apiece in their 19 overs.Worcestershires openers, Daryl Mitchell and Tom Fell, provided a solid start with a stand of 77 which was broken when Rahat removed Fell. Mitchell was yorked on the stroke of lunch by Sohail, one short of his fifty, and the early part of the afternoon was dominated by two of Worcestershires talented young batsmen.Clarke is firmly on Englands radar - he was part of the recent England Lions squad - and brought up his fifty, which included a six of Zulfiqar Babar, off 68 balls before being caught behind off Rahat.Kohler-Cadmore, 21, also took Zulfiqar for a six on his way to bringing up fifty off 96 deliveries. He was the last wicket to fall before the draw was called when he picked out Imran in the deep. Before then, Wahab and Imran had each struck to make inroads into the middle order. But there was no chance for Pakistan to bat again in the two-day fixture which would appear to make it unlikely they will make changes to their top order for the third Test which starts on August 3. Cheap Falcons Jerseys .com) - Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Roger Federer were easy first-round winners Tuesday at the Australian Open. The NFL can seem like a world dominated by quarterbacks, but did you notice who won the Super Bowl last season? It was the Broncos, who had Peyton Manning in name alone; the future Hall of Famer threw nearly twice as many interceptions (17) as touchdowns (nine). The Broncos were led to that Super Bowl by their defense, which dominated the regular season and held three of the leagues best offenses to a combined 44 points in the playoffs. The centerpiece of that defense: star pass rusher Von Miller, who piled up five sacks in three games and was named Super Bowl MVP. If Miller was the best defender in the postseason, the best defensive player of the 2015 regular season was otherworldly Texans defensive end J.J. Watt, who led the league in sacks (17.5) and quarterback hurries (50). In addition to serving as helpful ambulatory examples of the word disruptive, Watt and Miller have something else in common: They were both taken in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft. We have a ways to go, but we may very well be watching the prime years of the best defensive draft class to ever play the game. The 2011 class did deliver a certain MVP named Cam Newton, but the vast majority of the drafts output has been from the other side of the line of scrimmage. In fact, forming a starting lineup from that 2011 class produces a terrifying defense. If you line them up in a 4-3, you can go with Watt at one defensive end spot across from the Rams Robert Quinn, who had a 19-sack season as recently as 2013. Jets end Muhammad Wilkerson would kick inside to play tackle alongside massive Bills nose tackle Marcell Dareus, forming a devastating two-way front four. Now consider the back end. The AFC West came away from the 2011 draft with a pair of terrors at outside linebacker. We can slot Miller alongside Chiefs star Justin Houston, who has averaged more than one sack per game over the past three seasons. The interior isnt quite as laden with talent, but we can move Seahawks cover linebacker K.J. Wright into the middle.Throwing on this team? Good luck. Our cornerbacks are an NFC West tandem; Arizonas Patrick Peterson and Seattles Richard Sherman are both capable of shutting down top talent. The lone weak spot comes at safety, where the likes of DaNorris Searcy and Chris Conte would be competing for starting reps. But thats not much of a complaint. The scariest thing, perhaps, is the players I havent named who narrowly miss out on this team. Chris Harris was an undrafted free agent in 2011 before turning into a perennial Pro Bowl corner in Denver. Jimmy Smith, Byron Maxwell and Buster Skrine could easily step in as nickel corners. Aldon Smith was as dominant a pass rusher as there was in the league before his career unraveled.dddddddddddd Ryan Kerrigan and Pernell McPhee are dominant at their best, as is defensive tackle Jurrell Casey. Cameron Jordan has made two Pro Bowls and cant even sniff this team. The talent level in this class is unreal. It is already historic. What can rival it? The best defensive draft in post-merger NFL history is almost definitely the class of 1981, which produced five Hall of Famers on the defensive side of the ball: Lawrence Taylor, Ronnie Lott, Howie Long, Mike Singletary and Rickey Jackson. That 81 class made 15 first-team All-Pro appearances through its first five seasons in the league, a staggering number. The defenders of 2011? They have 16 All-Pro appearances in their first five seasons. Watt, Peterson, Sherman and Miller have been awarded the honor multiple times. The offensive players from that same draft have combined for just four All-Pro appearances over that span. Can the class of 2011 live up to the lofty heights of 1981 and send five defenders to Canton? Its not out of the question. Watt faces some injury concerns, but hes probably already done enough to justify enshrinement. Every eligible two-time defensive player of the year has made it to the Hall of Fame, and Watt has already won the award three times. The same logic also suggests that Peterson and Sherman have already done enough to get in. Of the 25 Canton-eligible, post-merger defenders who were named first-team All-Pros three times during their careers, 16 (64 percent) made the Hall of Fame. Both NFC West cornerbacks have done that before the sixth year of their respective careers. Miller, who has racked up the same honor two times, is knocking on the door. The fifth Hall of Famer isnt quite as clear, but with Dareus (when not suspended), Houston and Quinn all regularly producing dominant seasons, there are reasons to be optimistic. You can make the case that this is an offensive era. Enlightened by college football, its a pass-heavy league with tempo everywhere. Offenses averaged 22.8 points per game last year, the fifth-highest figure in NFL history. But ... Denvers run to the Super Bowl with some of the leagues worst quarterback play tells us again just how impactful a team with several star defenders can be. Offenses are better-schemed and better-coached than ever, but a great defense can still rip their plan to shreds. And the class of 2011 has delivered more world-class, game-changing, opponent-destroying defenders than any other draft in 30 years. The third week of any season is not the point where teams, the media or fans can make many definitive statements about a specific club.In another month, fortunes will rise and fall within the divisions. Its why every game is important in the seasons final reckoning and the race for the playoffs. That makes Sundays meeting at Arrowhead Stadium (4:25 p.m. ET) a very important game for the New York Jets (1-1) and Kansas City Chiefs (1-1).Both teams have seen very good play from parts of their roster, while at times also trying to solve problems with underachievement. The watch word around these teams would be Inconsistent. However, both clubs should be in the mix in December when the leagues contenders are fighting for spots in the playoffs. A 10-game winning streak at the end of the 2015 season punched Kansas Citys ticket to the playoffs, while the Jets chance evaporated in a loss to Buffalo in the last game of the regular season. This is one of those games that looks good in the AFC standings and head-to-head tie-breakers.You love challenges in this business, from a coaching standpoint and player standpoint, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said. You work so hard to play against good caliber players. Thats what this group is, so thatll be something to watch.Jets head coach Todd Bowles knows what to expect from Kansas City. He was part of Reids coaching staff in Philadelphia during the 2012 season.Theyre hard-nosed, tough and physical on both sides of the ball, Bowles said. Theyve got playmakers on the outside, ball hawks at the corners, a tough safety, strong fast linebackers. They have a slew of running backs, a great tight end, a great receiver, and a quarterback whos very good. That quarterback is Alex Smith and hes been the picture of inconsistency over the first two games. In the opener against San Diego, Smith had one of the best passing days of his career in leading the Chiefs back from a 21-point deficit to beat the Chargers in overtime. Last Sunday, he was erratic and turned the ball over twice in the loss at Houston. The Chiefs did not score a touchdown against the Texans.Ultimately it comes down to a lack of execution, Smith said. This last week certainly, every drive we had -- whether it be a penalty, a turnover, a sack, or a negative play -- it stalls the drive and its hard to overcome versus a talented defense. The start of the season has brought about questions concerning Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis. Long considered one of the leagues top cover corners, the 31-year old Revis has struggled as Cincinnati wide receiver A.J. Green burned him and Buffalos Marquise Goodwin caught an 84-yard touchdown pass.Reid, however, said he didnt see anything on the game tapes to show a crack in Revis skill level.Hes getting older, but hes wiser, Reid said. Ive got a ton of respect for the guy. He transitions so easy with his hips and his ability to look back and run fast are unbelievable.Listen, I know theyre saying he got beat. Maybe he gets beat one time. But the ones that people are saying, he didnt have help on; there werent people in the middle of the field. So thats not his responsibility. He looks pretty good me. He looks pretty stinking good. While the Jets have the veteran presence of Revis in their secondary, the Chiefs are like a football daycare center for cornerbacks. They play three in coordinator Bob Suttons scheme: Phillip Gaines (25), Steven Nelson (22) and Marcus Peters (23). That group has struggled in two games, giving up 100-yard receiving performances last Sunday to Houstons DeAndre Hopkins and rookie Will Fuller. The Jets offense enters the game with a great deal of confidence after their victory last week over Buffalo. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance, completing 24 of 34 passes for 374 yards and a touchdown toss. New York ran up 493 yards against the Bills. Its fun with everybody involved and everybody making plays, Fitzpatrick said. RIO DE JANEIRO -- A senior Olympic executive from Ireland was arrested and taken to the hospital Wednesday after police raided his beachfront hotel as part of an investigation into the illegal sale of tickets for the Rio de Janeiro Games.Patrick Hickey, a member of the International Olympic Committees executive board, was accused of plotting with at least nine others to sell tickets above face value in a scheme that authorities say netted about $3 million in profits. At least a half dozen police officers went to the luxury hotel in the upscale Barra da Tijuca neighborhood in the early morning hours to arrest the 71-year-old Hickey, who fell ill and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.Irelands national Olympic committee -- the Olympic Council of Ireland -- said Hickey was admitted to Samaratino Hospital for investigation of chest pain and was in stable condition. In view of his previous cardiac history he will remain in hospital for a further 24 hours, the Irish committee said in a statement Wednesday night.Hickeys alleged involvement was through Irelands Olympic committee, which police said helped transfer tickets to an unauthorized vendor who would set high fees and disguise the transaction as a hospitality package. Hickey was charged with conspiracy, ticket scalping and ambush marketing and will be detained while the investigation continues. The Olympic Council of Ireland said Hickey decided to step aside temporarily as an IOC member and from all his other Olympic positions until this matter is fully resolved. Hickey is also president of the OCI, head of the European Olympic Committees and vice president of the Association of National Olympic Committees.Mr. Hickey will of course continue to cooperate and assist with all ongoing enquiries, the Irish body said in a statement. The IOC said it respectfully takes note of Hickeys decision to step aside from his Olympic roles.Until then, the presumption of innocence prevails, the committee said in a statement.Police arrived at the IOCs hotel at 6 a.m. and found only Hickeys wife, who refused to tell them where he was. Police, however, found Hickeys Olympic accreditation badge on the floor, along with his shoes, socks and bag. They asked for the hotels help and found him in the adjacent room, registered under his sons name.Images by ESPN Brazil show Hickey answering the door to police and stepping into the bathroom naked. Moments later, he walks out in a white bathrobe.Investigators said Hickey initially was shaken and the hotels doctor recommended his transfer to a nearby hospital for tests because of his age and medical history. He remained in the hospital under police custody.Hickey, a former judo athlete, has been an IOC member since 1995. He has served on the policy-making executive board since 2012.IOC spokesman Mark Adams said the committee would fully cooperate with the police investigation. We dont know what the allegations or charges are yet, he said. We have full confidence in the system here. The allegations centered on more than 800 tickets belonging to the Irish committee.Todays arrest shows that the law must be followed, top police investigator Ricardo Barbosa said after a news conference. Even more when we are talking about the biggest sporting event that should uphold ethics and an international spirit. We found out that the Irish Olympic Committee ended up facilitating the ticket scalping scheme. An Irish executive was arrested last week in the same investigation. Kevin James Mallon is one of the heads of British hospitality provider THG, the main company suspected in the scheme. Mallon was arrested along with a local employee who was working as an interpreter.Authorities have also issued warrants for four more executives at THG, including Marcus Evans, who owns Marcus Evans Group, the parent company and owner of English soccer club Ipswich Town.Police are also looking for two soccer agents and a financial adviser at Pro 10 Sports Management, which investigators allege was created to facilitate the transfer of tickets between the Irish Olympic committee and THG, an unauthorized ticket seller. After the first arrests last week, the Olympic Council of Ireland said it would investigate why some of its tickets were in the possession of the suspects. The OCI name was visible on tickets displayed by police, but the Irish said they had no knowledge of the people in custody.---AP Sports Writer Rob Harris contributed to this report. Saturdays Wembley showdown has been billed as the £170m match with a spot among Englands elite, as well as unrivalled riches, waiting for the victor at the end of the 90 minutes or more.Steve Bruces Tigers will be looking for an instant return to the Premier League after being relegated at the end of the 2014/15 season while Carlos Carvalhals Owls have been absent from the top flight since the 1999/00 campaign. So how did they make it to Wembley, who is available for the game and what does Sky Sports Football League expert Ian Holloway have to say? Read on to find out...How did they get here? The two sides had differing seasons, with Hull sitting pretty in the automatic places until as late as February before slipping into the play-off spots while Sheffield Wednesday surged into sixth and held off the likes of Cardiff and Ipswich to seal sixth place and a shot at promotion. Andrew Robertson, Jake Livermore and Tom Huddlestone celebrate after the first-leg at the iPro Stadium. The Tigers faced Derby in their semi-final and stormed into a 3-0 lead during the first leg at the iPro Stadium with goals from Abel Hernandez, Andrew Robertson and a Jason Shackell own goal. And though the Rams came storming back into the tie at the KC Stadium, taking a 2-0 half-time lead after Johnny Russell and Robertsons own goal, they failed to find an elusive third. Highlights of the Sky Bet Championship play-off semi-final second leg between Hull City and Derby County. It was a similar story for Wednesday, who dominated Brighton in the first leg thanks to great strikes from Ross Wallace and Kieran Lee but were given a scare early on by their opponents during the return fixture at the Amex Stadium. Ross Wallace set Sheffield Wednesday en route to victory against Brighton The Seagulls controlled the opening period but though Lewis Dunk finally pulled one back to raise hopes of a fightback, Wallace restored Wednesdays two-goal aggregate cushion nine minutes later and it proved enough. Highlights of the Sky Bet Championship play-off semi-final second leg between Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday. Play-off previous Hulls last play-off appearance came in the 2007/08 season where they were promoted to the Premier League following a 1-0 victory over Bristol City at Wembley after Tigers legend Dean Windass scored his now-famous 38th minute volley. Highlights of the 2008 Championship play-off final between Bristol City and Hull. Prior to that, Hull had lost in the 2001/02 Division Three play-off semi-final to Leyton Orient, but will be making their fourth visit to Wembley in the last eight years - their last being the 3-2 FA Cup final defeat against Arsenal in May 2014.Sheffield Wednesday are yet to play at the new Wembley, but are unbeaten in their last five appearances in the play-offs. Their previous campaign came in the 2004/05 season where they were promoted to the Championship after beating Hartlepool 4-2 in the League One play-off final at Cardiffs Millennium Stadium. Head-to-headThese two could not be separated in the regular season, with both league meetings ending level. The sides drew 1-1 at Hillsborough in October with star strikers Fernando Forestieri and Abel Hernandez on the scoresheet - the latter accidentally injuring referee Keith Stroud - while the reverse fixture at the KC Stadium produced a stalemate.Saturday will see the 50th meeting between Hull and Sheffield Wednesday and the Owls edge the overall record, winning 20 games to the Tigers 11, with 18 draws. Highlights of the Championship play-off semi-final first leg between Derby and Hull at the iPro Stadium.dddddddddddd The managersSteve Bruce could become the first ever manager to win four promotions to the Premier League, having previously done so twice with Birmingham - once via the play-offs - and having steered Hull to automatic promotion at the end of his first season in charge in 2013.But the former Manchester defender is sure his own experience - and that of his players over the last few seasons - will stand them in good stead. Steve Bruce could win promotion for the fourth time in his managerial career - more than anyone else. Ive been fortunate, near enough to 1,000 (games) as a player and something like 800 as a manager and in among that lot Ive had a few big games, Bruce said.Weve got a squad that has been there (Wembley) before in the last couple of years; lets hope thats a bit of an advantage. Weve got some good players and lets hope we can achieve what we want to achieve. That is in stark contrast to Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal - whom Bruce admitted he had not heard of ahead of his appointment in June 2015 - but the Owls boss has had play-off success in his homeland, winning promotion to the Portuguese top flight with Vitoria Setubal in 2003/04. Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal was relatively unknown when he arrived at Hillsborough. Carvalhal has certainly made himself known after a stellar season with the Owls and has - in his own words - awoken the giant. We have achieved something. I remember we was in 19th in the league, so we have grown together - me, the staff, the owner and the fans like a team, Carvalhal said after the semi-final second leg.The self-confidence of the club is much higher this season. The club was sleeping and we have woken up the giant. The final is something that we deserve but its not finished yet.Team newsBruce has confirmed goalkeeper Allan McGregor (back) will not recover in time to feature with Eldin Jakupovic the man to take his place, but every other outfield player is fit and in contention.Manchester United loanee Nick Powell remains an absentee due to a thigh problem with David Meyler, Sam Clucas, Harry Maguire and Arsenal loanee Chuba Akpom among those pushing for recalls to the starting line-up. Eldin Jakupovic is set to start between the posts for Hull Carvalhal says his players are fresh and ready to go - but the Owls boss faces a midfield dilemma.Alex Lopez partnered Kieran Lee at the Amex but was substituted at half-time in the second leg, with Sam Hutchinson catching the eye. On loan Aiden McGeady has been deemed surplus to requirements and has already met up with the Republic of Ireland squad to begin preparations for Euro 2016.Ian Holloways key menHull City - Moses Odubajo Moses Odubajo is Hull Citys key man, according to Ollie He was sensational in the first-leg against Derby and is progressing into a top-class attacking full-back. He reminds me of Seamus Coleman, who I had at Blackpool. The way he flies up and down the wing will give Sheffield Wednesday all sorts of problems.Sheffield Wednesday - Fernando Forestieri Fernando Forestieri could be key for Sheffield Wednesday, thinks Ian Holloway He links the play between midfield and attack. Hes so crucial to the way Sheffield Wednesday play. Theres so much talent in his boots - Premier League level. I cant believe Watford let him go. Ive thoroughly enjoyed watching him play this season and the crowd love him. Its a match made in heaven.Match stats Sheffield Wednesday players celebrate after the Sky Bet Championship Play Off semi final at Brighton. It is the first time the second tier play-off final has been contested by two Yorkshire clubs. It is 5,859 days since Sheffield Wednesdays last Premier League game - a 4-0 final day win v Leicester at Hillsborough on May 14, 2000 (relegation had been confirmed in the previous game).Hull go into the game having won five of their last eight games (D1 L2).Sheffield Wednesdays only defeat in last seven games was 2-1 to Wolves on the Championships final day, having made 10 changes from their previous game.Sheffield Wednesday are making their first appearance at Wembley since the 92-93 season, when they played at the stadium on four occasions (W1 D1 L2), including losing both the League Cup and FA Cup finals to Arsenal.BettingHull are 5/4 favourites with Football League sponsor Sky Bet to secure promotion within 90 minutes as Sheffield Wednesday are rated 12/5 outsiders, while the clash is 21/10 to go to added time. With both league meetings ending in draws, promotion to be settled in extra-time is a 6/1 chance while a penalty shoot-out is considered a real possibility at 7/2.Abel Hernandez, who has four goals from his last five appearances, heads the first goalscorer betting at 4/1 while Fernando Forestieri and Gary Hooper are considered the Owls main threats at 6/1 apieceOllies verdictWill it be the experience and strength in depth that Hull City have in abundance that will shine on the day or will it be the surprise package in Sheffield Wednesday, who have a little bit more flair about them? I cant wait to find out. Its going to be a fascinating game. Sheffield Wednesdays Ross Wallace celebrates scoring the opening goal against Brighton at Hillsborough. WASHINGTON -- Calm and collected on the outside, Lucas Giolito was so anxious about making his major league debut that he kept going into manager Dusty Bakers office to ask when the game would start.Rain delayed it almost an hour and then cut Giolitos outing short, but when he was on the mound he was dominant as the Washington Nationals beat the New York Mets 5-0 on Tuesday night. Baseballs top pitching prospect allowed just one hit, struck out one and walked two in four scoreless innings and made the most of his start despite the weather.I never saw rain in the forecast at all, Giolito said. I thought it would be like 72 degrees, sunny, all that stuff. Thats how I dreamt it. But Ill take what I can get. An MLB debut is an MLB debut and Im glad I pitched well. The 6-foot-6 Giolito mixed his curveball and improving changeup in with his overpowering fastball to silence the Mets after a leadoff single by Curtis Granderson. Giolito was in control of his emotions and his pitches all night. He pounded the strike zone very well, said outfielder Bryce Harper, who hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning. His fastball was good, his curveball was good. I think he kept them off-balance pretty well and definitely a huge bummer that we went into that rain delay. An 85-minute rain delay cost Giolito the chance to pick up his first major league victory, as the win went to reliever Oliver Perez (2-1) instead. But Giolito left an impression with his first Nationals start, taking to heart the advice his veteran manager gave him.Dusty told me: You can be anxious. You can be nervous. Just dont be scared. You belong here. Thats just what I tried to prove, the 21-year-old said. After the first pitch, I couldve been pitching Double-A, I couldve been pitching in front of zero people. It wouldnt have mattered. I was just locked in.Mets right-hander Matt Harvey (4-10) wasnt quite as locked in but was very good in allowing one run on four hits in 3 2/3 innings. An RBI triple by Danny Espinosa was the only crack Washington needed against Harvey, who was a hard-luck loser. It would have been great for him to go a few more innings because tonight was some of the best stuff hes had all year, manager Terry Collins said. Tonight he had things going.Harpers two-run shot off lefty Jerry Blevins, his team-leading 16th of the season, and Wilson Ramos two-run double in the seventh gave the Nationals bullpen some cushion. On the other side, New Yorks bullpen became even more depleted the day before Logan Verrett has to make a spot start.TRAINERS ROOMMets: Granderson was removed from the game after the second rain delay because of a calf injury that tightened up on him, Collins said.. ... RHP Hansel Robles was struck in the right calf with a line drive in the seventh inning and walked off under his own power. ... LHP Steven Matz has a bone spur in his elbow and had his start pushed back from Wednesday to Thursday. ... RHP Noah Syndergaard has a small bone spur in his elbow but isnt expected to miss any time. ... 1B Lucas Duda is two weeks away from resuming baseball activities.Nationals: An MRI confirmed RHP Stephen Strasburg has an upper back strain. Strasburg threw a bullpen session Tuesday afternoon.UP NEXTMets: RHP Verrett (3-4, 4.14 ERA) makes a spot start for Matz as the rest of the rotation gets pushed back. The Mets will have one fewer arm available in the bullpen as a result.Nationals: RHP Max Scherzer (8-5, 3.52 ERA) makes his 17th start of the season trying to bounce back from allowing four earned runs in a loss to Milwaukee on Saturday. Iowa State coach Matt Campbell is hardly the only new face in Ames these days.Campbell and his entire staff are just a few days into their first fall camp with the Cyclones, who have just five wins in 24 games -- a stretch that cost popular coach Paul Rhoads his job.The roster has experienced heavy turnover as well, with 41 newcomers attempting to become acclimated to Campbells system in time for the season opener on Sept. 3 against Northern Iowa. Its a little bit of a unique camp. Were still finding each other out, Campbell said Tuesday at the teams annual media day.The biggest thing the Cyclones need to figure out is their offensive line. The Cyclones return just one starter, tackle Jake Campos. Campbell has installed freshman Julian Good-Jones at center, with untested veterans like Jaypee Philbert, Patrick Scoggins and Nick Fett attempting to fill bigger roles. Its unclear exactly what kind of offense Campbell and offensive coordinator Tom Manning plan to run. But it wont matter if the Cyclones dont have a solid line in place in less than a month. It is a big concern because theres guys that havent been in a situation where theres actually video-tape evidence -- and Im such a firm believer in video tape evidence, Campbell said. Show me in a game, in a situation, that you can execute and play with great consistency. And I think thats an area where theres just so much thats unknown.Iowa State has one of the most talented wide receivers in the country in Allen Lazard, though its not clear who will be playing with the talented junior.Trever Ryen, a former track athlete at Northern Iowa, is penciled in as a starter despite the fact that he caught just 11 passes in Big 12 games a year ago. Dondre Daley was fourth on the team with 21 catches in 2015.Beyond those three, Iowa State will need contributions from youngsters like Hakeem Butler, Carson Epps and Darius Lee-Campbell -- a converted quarterback -- if it hopes to keep defenses honest. In the meantime, Lazard will be targeted by quarterback Joel Lanning as much as possible.Allen has got to touch the ball ... weve got to find ways to get the ball into his hands. Weve got to find ways to move him around, Campbell said. The defense is in much better shape heading into fall camp. At least seven starters are back pending the status of defensive back Nigel Tribune, who remains suspended indefinitely after being charged with drunk driving last month. But its also a unit that ranked 97th nationally in scoring defense in 2015 at 32.7 points per game, so theres plenty of work to be done.Given all the uncertainty, Campbell tried to downplay any notion that the excitement his hiring has generated will lead to instantaneous success. My expectations for this team are really simple. Can we get better every day? Campbell said. My challenge is, can we reach our full potential? Thats individually and collectively. Cheap Quenton Nelson Jersey . The Broncos and Clady have been at odds over a long-term contract for more than a year. Had he not signed by Monday, he would have played under a one-year, $9.823 million deal because of the franchise tag. Instead, Clady has a deal that guarantees him at least $33 million and should keep him in Denver through the end of Mannings playing days. Its a better deal than the one the tackle turned down last season, when the guarantees the Broncos offered came in at about half of what hell make under his new contract. Clady, a first-round draft pick in 2008, is still recovering from surgery to his right shoulder andd is expected to miss the start of training camp, which begins July 25.dddddddddddd. If he returns to full health, it will resolve one of Denvers many issues on the offensive line. Left guard Zane Beadles was the only starting offensive lineman to come out of last season unscathed. Orlando Franklin (toe, shoulder), Chris Kuper (ankle) and J.D. Walton (knee) also needed operations, and of the three, only Franklin was at full health during team minicamps this spring. The Broncos signed Dan Koppen to fill in at centre for Walton, who isnt expected back until midseason. Their biggest free-agency signing outside of Wes Welker was right guard Louis Vasquez. Akapusi Qera insists Fiji do not resent Nathan Hughes and Semesa Rokoduguni for pledging allegiance to England, but has promised them a bone-jarring reception on Saturday. The second autumn international at Twickenham has cast the spotlight on the issue of overseas agents, clubs and nations plundering Pacific Islands talent and the vast disparity in pay.Rokoduguni and Hughes have qualified for England on residency grounds and will earn a match fee of £22,000, while the Fijians must settle for a daily allowance of £60 during their tour. In a damning statistic, all four wings in Frances Test against Australia in Paris on Saturday night are of Fijian origin.Qera, Fijis captain, understands the motivation for players heralding from his poverty-stricken homeland to seek the riches available overseas, but insists there will be a price to pay on the pitch. At the moment we are happy for the boys getting the achievement, Qera said. We have got the likes of Waisake Naholo at the All Blacks, the Australian boys Tevita Kuridrani and Henry Speight, and then Semsea and Nathan. We are happy for them and happy for the achievement. We cannot stop them from trying to progress their rugby careers. But as I always say, on the field its a totally different ball game. We will meet up after the game as mates, but during the game it will be a different story.Hughes, who starts on the bench with Rokoduguni on the right wing, accepts the welcome signposted by Qera.I do understand it. If youre an Islander, and I have this opportunity to play against Fiji, you know what is coming, Hughes said. You take it and you have got to give it back. Theyll know its coming too.Hughes made his Test debut as a replacement in the 37-21 victory over South Africa having qualified for England on residency grounds in June, saying of his choice: I play my rugby to support my family and put shelter over their heads.Fiji coach Johns McKee admits there were attempts to persuade Hughes to choose the country of his birth and does see a solution to the problem.I spoke to Nathan a number of times over the past three years and he never actually made himself available to play for Fiji, which was disappointing, McKee said.People make their own decisions. It is their life, it is their livelihood, it is their family. Under the current regulations after 36 months you are eligible to play for a country based on continuous residency. The Fiji Rugby Unions policy is that it should be extended to 60 months, which is five years. In the current professional era of the game I think that would be a more realistic timeframe. Cheap Andrew Brown Jersey .
