SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The challenge of matching up with Oklahoma Citys high-powered offence led by Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook brought out the best of the struggling Sacramento Kings.Rudy Gay scored 28 points and Darren Collison added 24 to help the Kings snap a 12-game losing streak to Oklahoma City with a 104-83 victory over the Thunder on Wednesday night. The Kings allowed season lows in points and shooting percentage (32.6 per cent) in their fourth win in 11 games under new coach Tyrone Corbin.I thought tonight was the first night in a long time where we really committed on the defensive end, Collison said. I dont know if it was the stage of the game playing a team like OKC, but I thought our urgency was really high tonight.DeMarcus Cousins had 23 points and 15 rebounds, and the Kings rolled to their first win against Oklahoma City since Feb. 12, 2012.Durant scored 24 points for the Thunder, who shot just 32.6 per cent and lost both games of a brief Northern California road trip. This marked the first time all season that Oklahoma City lost back-to-back games with Durant and Westbrook in the lineup. The Thunder had won nine of 11 with their two stars healthy before the losses to Golden State and Sacramento. We just have to move on, Durant said. We dont come in here to pop champagne bottles when we win. So we cant panic because we lost.Westbrook was completely outplayed by his former UCLA teammate Collison. Westbrook shot just 3 for 19 and had seven turnovers, while Collison made a career high five 3-pointers.The Kings broke out to a big lead and coasted to the victory in the opener of a six-game homestand. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Collison early in the third quarter put Sacramento up by 17 and Ben McLemores putback in the closing seconds made it 78-57 heading to the fourth. This feels like a good win, Cousins said. Weve had other wins but with those wins, you could feel like it wasnt a good win or a good way to win.Two nights after shooting 31 per cent in a loss at Golden State, the Thunder were still searching for their shooting stroke. Oklahoma City missed 14 straight shots in the first quarter to fall behind 25-7 on a jumper by Cousins.Westbrook missed six of seven shots, scoring on an emphatic dunk, and Durant missed four of five as the Thunder started the game 2 for 21.We found the good shots but couldnt hit them tonight, Durant said. When you get down 25-7 thats when you start to rush and turn the ball over. So we have to go back to the drawing board and get our next one.A 3-pointer by Perry Jones with just under a minute left ended the drought. Serge Ibaka added a fast-break bucket and a 3-pointer to fuel a 9-0 run, but the Thunder still trailed 28-16 after one when Collison hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer. The Kings maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second quarter. Durants late 3-pointer made it 53-43 at the half.TIP-INSThunder: Oklahoma City scored seven points in the first 11 minutes of the game and then nine in the final minute of the first quarter. ... Dion Waiters, acquired on Monday from Cleveland, made his Oklahoma City debut. He finished with four points on 1-for-9 shooting.Kings: Cousins got his fourth technical of the season late in the first quarter arguing a no-call. He had 16 last season. ... Cousins took 13 foul shots in the first half as Oklahoma City big men Ibaka, Steven Adams, Kendrick Perkins and Nick Collison all had three fouls.WRETCHED ROAD TRIPThe Thunder had their worst two shooting nights of the season on this road trip, shooting just 32 per cent for the two games. Westbrook struggled particularly, making just 8 of 40 shots.UP NEXTThunder: Host Utah on Friday.Kings: Host Denver on Friday. Nik Stauskas Jersey . Phoenix originally signed Barbosa to a 10-day contract on Jan. 8 after Eric Bledsoe injured his knee and then signed him to another 10-day deal.Through the 1980s, fueled primarily by booming property prices, a wealth creation culture permeated through English society and politics. Harry Enfield, that eras Ricky Gervais, was on high parody notice. Enfields response was creating the highly reprehensible character, Loadsamoney. Such was the rip roaring response a hit song of the same name was spawned. The cult classic going on to top the pop charts in 1988. Paradoxically, English soccer was on its knees and in the direst of financial shapes. Half empty stadiums, at best running the gauntlet of heightened hooliganism, had become the order of the day. No financial relief could be found on the continent as an indefinite Euro wide ban had been imposed by the governing body on English clubs. The transfer market was almost non-existent save for the highest calibre players. Such was the lack of funds for stadium renewal an Arsenal friend of mine cleverly quipped following Chris Waddless 1989 multi-million £ move from Spurs to Marseilles, if Spurs would now have enough cash to purchase toilet paper for the mens washrooms at White Hart Lane. Dire indeed. Fast forward 25 years and a London tabloid reported Thursday Tottenham was on the block. Purchase price? Loadsamoney. A rather cool £1billion [$1.75b] to be exact. The game changing Premier League, which began play in the 1992/93 season has been the greatest influencer of this extraordinary turn around in English club fortunes both on and off the pitch. With the brand new domestic and global broadcast deal which will net the BPL a record £5.5billion over its three-year lifetime - it is no coincidence we just witnessed a record transfer window. As Canadians vacationed this summer, the BPL Twenty invested a staggering £850m [$1.5b] combined in upgrading their playing squads. To put this into a clearer context, this total surpasses the combined spending of the next big four European Leagues - La Liga, the Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1. No surprising the market leaders were Manchester United, who broke the UK transfer record in bringing Di Maria in from the Barnebeau cold. Only time will tell if this ‘spending your way out of mid table trouble philosophy will return Englands biggest club to former glories. I have my immense doubts good ship MUFC will sail in more calmer and familiar football waters this season. This has nothing to do with their winless start to date – a spineless scoreless draw against Burnley last time out over Labor Day weekend hardly the stuff of legend. A sprinkle of stardust lustre doesnt maketh a team spine; something the inmates of Old Trafford sorely lacked last season. Ironically the £59.7 invested in last springs Champions League Final MVP who made hiss debut at Turf Moor is well in excess of the total Burnley have invested in players during its entire 132-year history of £45m [$80m].dddddddddddd Coincidentally that figure represents the price Manchester United has struck with AS Monaco to make Falcaos move from the principality to the bosom of English soccer a permanent one. Not done with smashing to pieces the budget, LVG will throw more money at the market when it reopens on New Years Day. At least comfort can be found for the Glazers in the fact they wont have to concern themselves with whether or not the players in question are cup tied for the knock out stages of the Champions League. Liverpool, who had led the rivals in the spending stakes until Di Marias late August arrival, were this seasons Tottenham, who garnered anything but success with their re-investment of the world record fee they received for Gareth Bale. After wrangling £75m [$130m] out of Barcelona for little Luis, they immediately spent those funds. Which if nothing else is clear indication the Nou Camp move was long planned. Not merely a reaction to Suarez leaving his trade mark personal imprint on Giorgio Chiellinis shoulder blade. Table toppers Chelsea, who entertain a perfect Swansea in south west London tomorrow morning, make out the BPL drunken sailor podium -Roman getting his wallet out early and often. My how I wished I was sharing a pint with Arsene when it was announced serial Emirates terminator and tormentor Didier Drogba had made a triumphant return to the Bridge. As for Arsenal themselves, such was the summertime irrational exuberance they managed to nudge tomorrow mornings breakfast opponents, and current BPL Champions Manchester City into fifth place. Well all aware courtesy of the splendid Soccernomics tome from the exceedingly lucid Simon Kuper and Stefan Szymanski there is no correlation, direct or otherwise between transfer prices and winning titles. Salaries budgets though be a significant indicator. No coincidence silverware success alluded Arsenal for close to a decade and more for their North London cousins. The book then must have formed part of Manchester Uniteds vice chair, Ed Woodwards summer reading list. How on earth else can we account for reports earlier this week the club is about to offer Christiano £300,000 or close to $550,000 a week every week for three years. Oh my! Is jolly olde England about to lay witness to world footballs very first £100 million man? Well past time then to make Alan Greenspan BPL Commissioner. DAVOS, Switzerland -- Doug Shedden says Canada played its best game at the Spengler Cup on Monday. Unfortunately for the Canadians, so did opposing goaltender Tobias Stephan. Stephan made 50 saves and HC Geneve-Servette capitalized on its chances in a 6-5 semifinal win over defending champion Canada. "To me, you lose this game on two words, and thats Toby Stephan," Canada coach Shedden said after the game. "We threw 55 shots at him, and we were all over him with quality chances, and theres no question he was the difference in the game. "Unfortunately thats the game of hockey sometimes. A hot goalie can steal a game, especially in a one-game series." Conversely, Geneva-based Geneve-Servette made the most of their chances, beating the Canadian tandem of Allen York and Matthew Hackett six times on 24 shots. "Geneva really capitalized on the limited chances they got," Shedden said. "It seems like every shot they had was a seeing-eye shot, like under the bar or five-hole ... they were a sharp-shooting team today. "Im not blaming the goalies one bit. It just seems that every chance they got they made the best of it." Alexandre Giroux, Travis Roche and Jacob Micflikier, Darren Haydar and Jason Williams scored for Canada. Former NHL veteran Matthew Lombardi led Geneva with two goals and two assists. Denis Hollenstein, Intio Pestoni, Arnaud Jacquement and Daniel Vukovic scored for Geneva. Canada was trailing 6-3 midway through the third period, but they poured on the pressure and goals at 16:10 from Haydar and 18:18 from Williams made it a one-goal game with time winding down. Stephan, who made 21 of his 50 saves in the third, would not be beaten a sixth time "I thought we had our best game by a mile," Shedden said. "Unfortunately like a hot pitcher in baseball (goaltenders) can beat you some nights." Geneva will play CSKA Moscow in Tuesdays final. Moscow edged host HC Davos 5-4 earlier Monday. Letang, who has not played since a Jan. 29 stroke and resulting discovery of a small hole in his heart, has been taken off blood thinner medication. The defenceman has missed the past 14 games. PHILADELPHIA -- Paul Millsap is headed to his first NBA All-Star Game. And the Atlanta Hawks could be headed for a prime seed in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Especially if Millsaps teammates continue to contribute like they did Friday night. Mike Scott and Elton Brand scored 18 points apiece to lead seven Hawks in double figures and Atlanta routed the Philadelphia 76ers 125-99. DeMarre Carroll contributed 13, Paul Millsap, Jeff Teague and Lou Williams had 12 apiece, and Kyle Korver added 11 for the Hawks, who moved within eight games of the Miami Heat for first place in the Southeast Division. "Guys have to be ready," said Brand, who added eight rebounds. "You never know when your name is going to be called." Millsap learned on Thursday that he had been named to his first NBA All-Star Game in his eight-year career. He spent the first seven seasons with the Utah Jazz and signed with the Hawks as a free agent last July. Millsap, who will be a reserve for the Eastern Conference All-Stars next month in New Orleans, received plenty of help against the Sixers. "Hes been one guy weve leaned on heavily this year," Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said. Teague was a game-time decision with a sprained left ankle and he responded with a productive start. "Weve been happy with Jeff," Budenholzer said. "He set a tone early. I thought he was attacking the basket." Thaddeus Young scored 29 points, Michael Carter-Williams added 17 and Elliot Williams had 15 for the Sixers, who have dropped 11 of their last 13 home games, including five straight. The Sixers, now 8-16 at home, havent lost five in a row at home since the 2009-10 season. "It was the poorest performance of our season tonight," Sixers coach Brett Brown said. "The effort wasnt there." Atlanta led 27-21 after the first quarter and took advantage of 10 Philadelphia turnovers, a season high for any quarter. After going into the locker room with a 64-52 advantage at the break, the Hawks blitzed the Sixers for 38 points in the third quarter to take a 102-75 lead and prompt a chorus of boos from Sixers fans. "We had a lot of turnovers and that was the biggest thing," Young said. "Just too many turnovers." Before the game, Brown praised the Hawks ball movement and the fluidity of their offence. Atlantas precision was evident as it had 36 assists on 45 made field goals. NOTES: Korver hit a 3-pointer with 6:10 left in the first quarter, extending his streak to 114 straight games with at least one, an ongoing NBA record. . Sixers C Spencer Hawes was whistled for a technical foul with 8:17 remaining in the first. G Evan Turner also picked up a technical 49 seconds into the third . Millsap had five steals in the first half . The Sixers committed 15 turnovers in the first half. Trey Burton Jersey . Taylor Gabriel Jersey . Globo TV and other news outlets said early Monday that Scolari will not remain as coach after the national teams failure to win the World Cup at home. NASHVILLE -- The Ottawa Senators got another big win with a solid team effort. Mika Zibanejad and Jason Spezza scored in the shootout to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 2-1 victory over Nashville on Saturday night. Kyle Turris scored in regulation for Ottawa, which has won five of its last six. Craig Anderson had 31 saves through overtime, and then stopped Craig Smith and David Legwand in the shootout. "I thought Craig was again, a very consistent goaltender," Ottawa coach Paul MacLean. "Were slowly starting to build some momentum. Tonight I thought was a good effort by the total team and the whole team found a way to win the game." Mike Fisher had the lone goal for Nashville, which has lost three of four. Marek Mazanec finished with 20 saves. "Weve had some difficult stretches where we absolutely deserved to get two points and havent been able to do it, but we come out and play hard every night," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "Thats something everyone in that room can hang their hat on." Nashville is now 0-5 in shootouts this season, with their shooters scoring just once in 18 tries. Turris scored the games first goal at 6:23 of the second period. Nashville defenceman Mattias Ekholm carried the puck behind his own net and reversed it off the end boards, but he did not have a teammate there, and the puck came to Turris on the right side. Turrris then beat a surprised Mazanec with a wrist shot for his 12th goal of the season, giving him a point in four of his last five games.dddddddddddd "I just tried to reverse it and it bounced right in front," Ekholm said. "I dont know if it hit him or the boards or something, but obviously bad play by me and I have to get better there." Fisher tied it with 3:01 left in the second period. With the teams skating 4-on-4, Ryan Ellis shot from above the left circle was blocked, but the puck came to Fisher just to the left of the Ottawa net where he snapped a shot past Anderson for his 12th of the season. Fisher played the first 675 games of his NHL career with the Senators before being traded to Nashville in February 2011. Anderson stopped Viktor Stalberg on a penalty shot with 8:17 left in the first period. Stalberg was awarded the attempt after having his feet taken out by Ottawas Joe Corvo on a breakaway just seconds after Stalberg finished serving a tripping penalty of his own. "You take the mind out of it, just read and react," Anderson said. "I wanted to make sure I didnt give him an easy shot." NOTES: Stalberg has not converted in three-career penalty-shot attempts. ... Harry Kane Jersey . Louis Cardinals placed outfielder Allen Craig on the 15-day disabled list with a right knee contusion on Sunday. http://www.footballhotspurstore.com/Wome...Hotspur-Jersey/. General manager David Poile called signing Ribeiro a great opportunity to add a talented, experienced and creative centre Tuesday when he introduced the veteran at a news conference. Ribeiros contract is worth $1.05 million after being bought out of the final three years of a $22 million contract by the Coyotes recently. Jan Vertonghen Jersey . -- The Windsor Spitfires were left with just one goaltender Tuesday after having their starter walk out on them midway through Game 3 of their Ontario Hockey League playoff matchup with the London Knights. Paulo Gazzaniga Jersey . - Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis said Wednesday hes "nodded off" during meetings, but he said its something every player does. The Phoenix Coyotes stumbled down the stretch, going on a seven-game winless slide, to miss the playoffs by two points, their second straight season on the outside looking in. Off-Season Game Plan looks at the Coyotes, and what they might be able to do to get over the hump. The Coyotes have been able to ice a consistently competitive squad on a budget -- even missing the playoffs the past two seasons, their cumulative points percentage was .538; just good enough to miss, apparently. If the Coyotes are going to make progress, they need to upgrade their scoring. They were a middle-of-the-road possession team, with good goaltending, but finishing 20th in goals scored was enough of a difference to prevent them from getting into the postseason. Additionally, they face the prospect of losing their highest-scoring forward, Radim Vrbata, as a free agent, so this is a situation that ought to be addressed. How might they do it? Well, internally, the Coyotes might turn to top prospect Max Domi, a skilled centre or a winger like Lucas Lessio might be able to make the jump, but those moves would hardly offset the loss of a proven NHL scorer. There will be scorers on the free agent market -- Thomas Vanek, Jarome Iginla, Mike Cammalleri, Matt Moulson among them -- though they wont likely come cheaply, and while the Coyotes new ownership may offer more financial flexibility than when the franchise was under league rule, its one thing to have flexibility and another to outbid the big spenders for a top scoring winger. Given the way this franchise has run through adversity, though, figure that GM Don Maloney will be able to find some value in the marketplace and ice a competitive team again next year. As weve seen over the past couple seasons, though, competitive may not be enough The TSN.ca Rating is an efficiency rating based on per-game statistics including goals and assists -- weighted for strength (ie. power play, even, shorthanded) -- Corsi, adjusted for zone starts, quality of competition and quality of teammates, hits, blocked shots, penalty differential and faceoffs. Generally, a replacement-level player is around a 60, a top six forward and top four defenceman will be around 70, stars will be over 80 and MVP candidates could go over 90. Last seasons 23 goals in 69 games represented his best goals-per-game rate since 2008-2009, and his 13.8% shooting percentage was the best of Doans entire career. That certainly makes regression likely, but its not like Doan has been reaping the rewards of favourable percentages; it just may not be reasonable to expect the same goal production. Martin Hanzal registered the first 40-point season of his career and continues to take on tough assignments, but hes also running into injury problems lately, missing 65 games over the past four seasons. His possession stats were down last season, but Hanzals size (6-foot-6, 236 pounds) makes him a tough physical presence for opposing centres to handle, at least its that way when he manages to stay in the lineup. Antoine Vermette played 19:13 per game and scored 24 goals last season, both his most since 2009-2010, and hes as durable as they come, having played every game for five straight seasons. Vermettes possession stats have declined, but at least some of that can be attributed to usage -- he faced the toughest matchups with more defensive zone starts. Speedy winger Mikkel Boedker has been making steady progress offensively. In the past two seasons, hes scored 77 points in 130 games, which puts him 85th in the league over that time. If hes still got a few more years to hit his peak, maybe Boedker could be good for 60-plus points with the right line combination. Last season, it was mostly taking the tough matchups with Vermette and a rotating cast of characters on the other side. The Coyotes had expectations that 34-year-old Mike Ribeiro would be able to add life to their offence but, by seasons end, Ribeiro scored 47 points (two fewer than he scored in 48 games with Washington in 2012-2013) and his 17:00 per game of ice time was his lowest since 2006-2007. More troubling about the lack of production is that the Coyotes tilted the ice in Ribeiros favour with zone starts, yet 0.59 points per game was his lowest since 2002-2003, when he was still trying to break into the Montreal lineup. Industrious winger Lauri Korpikoski has been getting hard minutes, though theres a fair case to be made that its more than he can handle. That doesnt mean that Korpikoski cant be a useful contributor, just maybe ease up on the quality of competition that he faces on a regular basis. At one time, Martin Erat was a consistent offensive performer, and while he remains a capable puck possesion player, hes fallen on ridiculously hard times as a goal-scorer. Among NHL forwards to play at least 1800 minutes over the past two seasons, Erat is the only one with fewer than a dozen goals, and he has eight. Hes coming into a contract year, so Erat ought to be motivated, but this offensive dry spell isnt something that can be dismissed as a motivation issue. His shots-on-goal totals, which were never sky-high, are way down and if that doesnt change, dont expect Erats point totals to rebound much. Hard-hitting winger Rob Klinkhammer just completed his first full NHL season, as a 27-year-old, and certainly held his own. There may not be a ton of offensive upside, but theres lots of room for a 6-foot-3 winger who can skate and hit. 28-year-old Kyle Chipchura has never scored more than six goals or 20 points in an NHL season, but hes battled his way to a regular spot on the fourth line, missing four games total over the past two seasons. This past season, he delivered a career-best 20 points while starting the majority of his shifts in the defensive zone. There will be some need to make changes up front, as the Coyotes have four unrestricted free agents. Over the past five seasons, he ranks third in scoring among defencemen, behind only Duncan Keith and Erik Karlsson and was on for 54.5% of the 5-on-5 goals when he was on the ice over that span. So, USA Hockey might not have been compelled to name Yandle to the Olympic team, but the Coyotes can be more than satisfied with a productive player who hasnt missed a game in the past five seasons. While Yandle puts up the numbers, 22-year-old Oliver Ekman-Larsson is effectively the Coyotes No. 1 defenceman, in terms of usage, because he plays 25 minutes a night, and is always facing the oppositions best lines. Ekman-Larssons production is starting to take off, too, as he had career-highs in goals (15), assists (29) and points (44) last season. Michael Stone is steadily improving, becoming a regular on the Phoenix blueline, and he finished the year playing top-four minutes. It takes some projection, and maybe a little faith, to believe the 23-year-old is ready for it full-time, but Stone does move the puck well and can contribute on the power play. Playing alongside Ekman-Larsson, Zbynek Michalek gets the toughest matchups and holds his own in that regard though, with 12 points in 93 games since returning to Phoenix, he plays more of a meat-and-potatoes game. Michalek has led the Coyotes with 252 blocked shots over the past two seasons. Injuries have hampered the development of David Schlemko, though the 27-year-old has been an effective depth defenceman at a reasonable price. There will be openings on the Coyotes blueline, though top prospects Brandon Gormley and Connor Murphy could both be in consideration for spots and Chris Summers, signed to an inexpensive one-way deal, might fill a depth role. The 32-year-old is under contract for five more seasons, so Phoenix is committed to him as their number one but, with Thomas Greiss hitting unrestricted free agency, there could be a new backup coming. The Coyotes have tended towards inexpensive options and might be able to do something like that again with unrestricted free agents Carter Hutton, Chad Johnson or Justin Peters. The 12th overall pick in last summers draft is smallish, but a creative playmaker, something in short supply in Phoenix, and could have a shot at making the team next year. The 13th pick in 2010, Brandon Gormley is a smart defenceman who makes a good outlet pass and has 65 points in 122 AHL games over the past two seasons. That earned him a five-game audition with the Coyotes, though that audition might have suggested that he needs more work before hes ready. Picked 20th in 2011, Connor Murphy split last season between the AHL and NHL, and the 21-year-old doesnt have much of an offensive game, Murphy is a steady, stay-at-home type who was most frequently paired with Yandle or Ekman-Larsson when he was the Coyotes. Taken with the 27th pick in 2012, Henrik Samuelsson has steadily improved throughout his junior career and is a high-scoring forward with a big body. He may have to shift to wing in the NHL, but theres nothing wrong with having that size and skill on the wing. Sturdy winger Lucas Lessio got into three games with the Coyotes early in the year, and while he may not have been ready for primetime, he had a very strong first pro season, scoring 29 goals in 69 AHL games. The 2011 second-round pick should be in competition for a job at some point next season. Acquired from the Edmonton Oilers in March, 2013, Tobias Rieder was productive in his first pro campaign. Hell need to get stronger to move up the ladder but, if he does, Rieder has skill that makes him worth watching. A first-round pick in 2011, Mark Visentin has produced uneven results in his first couple pro seasons. Hes only 21-years-old, so theres time to be patient and develop Visentin, but early returns have not lived up to that draft slot. Laurent Dauphin, a second-round pick last summer, is a smart, competitive centre who will need some time to round out his game and get stronger, but is one to watch. Picked up in a trade with Anaheim, Brandon McMillan was a solid contributor in 22 games with the Coyotes last season, chipping in six points with favourable possession stats. Hell be in prime consideration for a depth spot next season. A fourth-round pick in 2009, Jordan Szwarz got into 26 games with the Coyotes last season, scoring three goals. Hes a high-effort guy with limited offensive upside. Chris Summers has played 47 NHL games over the past four seasons, compared to 211 in the AHL, so while the 2006 first-rounder might appear to be destined for time on the farm, he does have a one-way contract for next season, which might keep him in a depth role with the Coyotes. Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - Jake Peavy picked up his first career postseason win as the San Francisco Giants held on to beat the Washington Nationals 3-2 in their NL Division Series opener on Friday. Peavy (1-0) had a solid outing, scattering two hits in 5 2/3 scoreless innings. Buster Posey, Brandon Belt and Joe Panik each knocked in a run for the Giants, who have won nine straight playoff games. They were coming off Wednesdays 8-0 wild-card victory at Pittsburgh. They have been through it. They have a calmness about them. When you have your back as many times against the wall as you can in the postseason, that experience is invaluable, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said about his teams run of postseason success. Stephen Strasburg (0-1) gave up two runs in his postseason debut -- one earned -- on eight singles in five-plus innings for the NL East-champion Nationals. Game 2 of the best-of-five series is Saturday, with the Giants sending out another veteran in Tim Hudson. Washington right-hander Jordan Zimmermann will make his first start since no-hitting Miami in Sundays regular-season finale. Peavy, who didnt allow a hit through the first four innings, exited after his third walk of the game put runners on first and second in the sixth. Javier Lopez then walked Adam LaRoche to load the bases, but Hunter Strickland struck out Ian Desmond on a 100-mph fastball. Panik reached on a triple to begin the seventh. Center fielder Denard Span couldnt make the catch before crashing into the wall. Posey followed with a comebacker that deflected off reliever Craig Stammens glove and trickled into the outfield grass, scoring Panik to make it 3-0. Strickland gave up two home runs in the bottom of the frame. Bryce Harper led off by sending a 97-mph pitch into the third deck in right field. Asdrubal Cabrera launched a shot to right with one out. In his next at-bat, Harper hit into a fielders choice with two men on base against Sergio Romo in the eighth. Washington went down quietly in the ninth as Santiago Casilla earned the save. We couldnt get it done today. We have another one tomorrow, said Nationals manager Matt Williams. A challenge by the Giants resulted in a call being overturned and the games first run. Travis Ishikawa led off the third inning with a single. Peavy dropped down a sacrifice bunt to the right side that was fielded by the first baseman LaRoche. Instead of taking the out at first, LaRoche decided to throw to second, where Ishikawa was called out by umpire Tom Hallion. The play was reversed after a 61-second review. It is one of those plays in the game where you want to be aggressive, certainly, Williams said. You know, in hindsight if it was bunted again, I am sure (LaRoche) would have gone to first. In the heat of the moment, you want to get the lead runner. After both runners advanced on a passed ball by catcher Wilson Ramos, Ishikawa scored on Paniks one-out single to center. Strasburg then got Posey to ground into an inning-ending double play. The Giants extended their lead in the fourth. Hunter Pence hustled to beat out a double play, stole second and came around on a one-out single to right by Belt. With two aboard later in the inning, Washington third baseman Anthony Rendon made a fine diving stop to his left and fired to second for the final out. Strasburg stranded two runners in the fifth, but was removed after Belt and Brandon Crawford opened the sixth with consecutive singles. Jerry Blevins ended the threat with a strikeout and pair of flyouts. Game Notes Peavy had been 0-3 with a 9.27 ERA in five postseason starts prior to Fridays game ... San Francisco third baseman Pablo Sandoval extended his postseason hitting streak to 12 games ... Crawford collected three hits ... The Giants were 3-for-15 with runners in scoring position and stranded 10 ... The Nationals had only six hits to the Giants 12. Scott scored a career-high 30 points, Jeff Teague added 28 and the Hawks rallied to beat the New York Knicks 107-98 on Saturday night. "We were down Paul, down so many bodies," Scott said.CHICAGO -- The Pittsburgh Penguins were wrapping up practice Friday when Tanner Glass grabbed an iPad mini and skated around the temporary rink in the middle of Soldier Field. The 30-year-old Canadian forward smiled as he captured the chilly scene, which took him all the way back to when he first learned to skate at his grandparents farm. "As I grew up, there was an outdoor rink right beside by the main rink," said Glass, a native of Regina, Saskatchewan. "So even tournaments, wed have our real game inside and then wed all just take half our gear off and run across to the outdoor rink and play all day. It reminds me of that and kind of the good old days." Yup, these outdoor games still have an allure for NHL players, especially when they involve two of the best teams in the league. The league gets a marquee prime-time finish for its successful Stadium Series when Sidney Crosby and the Penguins take on Jonathan Toews and the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night at the home of the NFLs Chicago Bears. "Youve got two pretty fast, skilled hockey teams and if the ice can kind of agree with everyone I think that would make for a pretty good product out there," Crosby said. The forecast calls for light snow and temperatures in the teens, but each team has some experience with the pratfalls of playing outside. Chicago lost 6-4 to rival Detroit in the 2009 Winter Classic at Wrigley Field. Crosby had the winning shootout goal when visiting Pittsburgh beat Buffalo 2-1 in the first Winter Classic in 2008, but the Penguins lost 3-1 to Washington when they hosted the 2011 game at Heinz Field. Now the Blackhawks and Penguins return to the great outdoors for their first meeting since Pittsburghs 3-2 victory on Dec. 20, 20011.dddddddddddd Its their first game in Chicago since Patrick Kane had the only shootout goal in the Blackhawks 3-2 win on Feb. 20 of that year. While scheduling and the leagues most recent labour dispute have kept the teams apart, the players are plenty familiar with one another. Team captains Crosby and Toews face off for the first time in an NHL regular-season game after leading Canada to the gold medal in the Sochi Olympics last weekend. Crosby, Toews and Penguins forward Chris Kunitz scored in their countrys 3-0 victory in the final against Sweden, which included Marcus Kruger, Johnny Oduya and Niklas Hjalmarsson of the Blackhawks. Penguins coach Dan Bylsma got a chance to see Kane up close when he was behind the bench for Team USA in Russia. "Ive learned quite a bit about his competitiveness," Bylsma said. "You kind of see the smile. Its certainly a ton of skill how he plays the game, but I was impressed by it and learned just the competitiveness that he has and brings to the game. Skill-wise you see it live." The first NHL game at Soldier Field also features two teams in need of a win. The Penguins are coming off a 6-5 shootout loss to Montreal, while the Blackhawks lost 2-1 at the New York Rangers on Thursday night. Chicago, which almost tied the game against the Rangers in the final seconds, is playing its first game in the Windy City since Jan. 26. "Everybody is excited for Saturday," centre Peter Regin, who scored the only goal against New York, said Thursday night. "Obviously we were hoping to get a different outcome tonight, but we play in two days. That is the good thing about the NHL, you play every second night, so its not so long before you can redeem yourself." MONTREAL - Dustin Tokarski will start in place of the injured Carey Price as the Montreal Canadiens face the New York Rangers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final tonight. Head coach Michel Therrien announced earlier in the day that Price will miss the remainder of series with an injury suffered in the opening game. Listen to the action live on TSN Radio 690 and TSN.ca/Montreal at 8pm et/5pm pt. Also, TSN.ca will provide live streaming of the post-game news conferences. Alex Galchenyuk will make his first appearance of the playoffs and will draw into the lineup in place of Michael Bournival. Galchenyuk has been out since April 10 with a lower-body injury. Daniel Carcillo will play for the Rangers in place of Derick Brassard. Brassard was hurt Saturday in the first period after taking a hard hit from Montreal defenseman Mike Weaver. Brassard only played two shifts for 35 seconds of ice time before leaving the game for good. Fourth-line center Dominic Moore was pressed into an increased role following the injury. The Canadiens hope to regroup after a humiliating defeat in the opener of the Eastern Conference final. The Rangers, who were down 3-1 to Pittsburgh in the conference semifinals before rallying for the series win, posted their fourth straight victory Saturday with a 7-2 trouncing of the Habs. This is the 15th all-time playoff series between these Original Six foes, but Saturdays rout marked New Yorks largest margin of victory against Montreal in a postseason game. The seven goals also set a playoff record for the Rangers against the Habs, who had allowed six goals to New York twice before in the playoffs (Game 4, 1972 quarterfinals; Game 4, 1974 quarterfinals). With the lopsided road victory, New York also became the first team to score at least seven goals in Game 1 of a conference final since Chicago posted an 8-2 win over Edmonton in the 1992 Campbell Conference series. Ryan McDonagh led New Yorks scoring blitz with a goal and three assists, with Mats Zuccarello tallying once and adding two helpers to help make Henrik Lundqvists first win in Montreal since 2009 a rather effortless one. Even the previously slumping Rick Nash got into the act for the Rangers, potting his first goal of these playoffs while also contributing an assist. Chris Kreider, Derek Stepan and Martin St. Louis finished with a goal and an assist as well. Lundqvist, 0-3-1 with a 4.63 goals against average in his last four starts at Bell Centre, needed to make just 20 saves to end his recent struggles at the venue. "I havent won too many games in this building, so its good to get a great start," said Lundqvist afterward. "They have a lot of speed, but our defenders blocked key shots. We played a smart game." Carey Prices afternoon wasnt as effective, as Montreals standout goaltender was pulled after two periods after saving only 16-of-20 attempts. The Rangers then scored three times on eight chances against backup Peter Budaj in the third. Lars Eller had a goal and an assist in the loss, the Canadiens most lopsided one since an 8-2 setback to Carolina in Game 6 of the 2002 East semifinals. Rene Bourque also scored for a Montreal squad that will attempt to bounce back Monday before the series shifts to New York for Games 3 and 4. Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Madison Square Garden. "Well put that game behind us now and move forward, but thats a good lesson," Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien remarked. "We werent ready for this game," said a frustrated Therrien. "There were offensive errors and some defensive errors as well. "We were not sharp. We werent ready mentally or physically to compete in this game, and thats the result that you saw." The Rangers improved to 8-2-0 in these playoffs when scoring first, while Montreal is 1-4-0 when allowing the initial goal. In other news for New York, the entire Rangers team spent Sundays off day attending the funeral of St. Louis mother, France, who died of a heart attack on May 8. "It was good for us to be there for him, so today was a lot less about hockey and a lot more about being there for (Marty) and his family," said Rangers defenseman Marc Staal. This best-of-seven series is the first postseason encounter between these Original Six rivals since the opening round of the 1996 playoffs when New York won in six games. The clubs have played 14 playoff series and each club has won seven times, although Montreal earned the biggest victory when it beat the Rangers in the 1979 Cup Finals. Both teams are attempting to get back to the Cup Final for the first time since the 1990s. Montreal was the last team based in Canada to win it all in 1993, but has yet to return to the Cup Final, and the Rangers are aiming to get back to the final stage for the first time since winning their last championship in 1994. METZ, France -- Top-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga served 10 aces and saved all five break points to defeat Gilles Muller of Luxembourg 7-6 (7), 6-4 at the Moselle Open on Wednesday. Tsonga, who won the title in Metz in 2011 and 2012, was runner-up to fellow Frenchman Gilles Simon last year. He will face eighth-seeded David Goffin of Belgium or German Tobias Kamke in the quarterfinals of the indoor tournament. Tsonga can still qualify for the ATP finals in London from Nov. 9-16 with a strong finish to the season. The Frenchman won his second ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title last month in Toronto with a straight-sets win over Roger Federer. Goffin beat French qualifier Florent Serra 6-2, 6-2 while Finnish veteran Jarkko Nieminen set up a meeting with former Wimbledon semifinalist Jerzy Janowicz after beating Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-1, 6-4. Local favourite Paul-Henri Mathieu joined Tsonga in the quarterfinals as he defeated fourth-seeded Czech Lukas Rosol 6-3, 6-4. Joao Sousa saved all four break points to beat Ivan Dodig 6-2, 6-2 in the first round while Jeremy Chardy got the better of Nicolas Mahut 7-6 (5), 7-5 in an all-French match. But we value the relationship with our season ticket-holders.We clearly understand they want us to make the playoffs and that has to be the goal around here. Were not backing down from that goal. And we also understand — I made it very clear when I began here — that we should be paid and we should ask for an increase based on how we do on the pitch. Thats all that matters. Were going to use that rule of thumb as we go forward here with our existing season ticket-holders.Toronto failed to deliver on Leiwekes playoff promise this season, finishing seventh in the Eastern Conference with an 11-15-8 record. The team has yet to make the post-season since joining MLS in 2007.The MLSE boss did not comment directly on pricing, saying an announcement would come soon.I think we have a relationship with our season ticket-holders that continues to grow, he said. And I think even though we didnt make the playoffs this year, the one thing they do appreciate about us is we are jumping bacck in the ring and staying in the fight and were going to win this fight.dddddddddddd. And I think they believe that. And so were not going to do anything to damage that relationship. This is a relationship based on integrity and communication and were going to try and keep that up.Prior to the 2013 campaign, Toronto rolled back season ticket prices to those of the clubs inaugural year in 2007 due to continued failure on the field. The franchise held the line on those prices for the 2014 season, even pushing back the payment date to allow fans to see some of the big-ticket off-season moves before committing. The signing of designated players Jermain Defoe, Michael Bradley and Gilberto helped push the number of season ticket-holders to a club-record 17,000 with a waiting list of 3,500.The MLS team drew 375,463 fans to BMO Field in 2014, up 30,928 over the previous franchise record of 344,535 set in 2011. This season TFC attracted 15 straight sellouts of 22,591 before attendance at the two final home games dropped to 18,269 and 18,329, respectively. The club drew 308,233 fans in 2013.Toronto averaged 22,086 a game this season, second only to the Seattle Sounders (43,734) and well above the league average of 19,147.The Vancouver Whitecaps averaged 20,408 (346,943 in total, fifth in the league) and Montreal 17,421 (296,159, 11th).———Follow @NeilMDavidson on Twitter Cheap Jerseys Online Wholesale Black NFL Jerseys Youth NFL Jerseys Wholesale Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Free Shipping ' ' '

my family for the rest of thei

Erstellt 13.07.2018 07:27 von zxlbxj1 13.07.2018 07:27 In der Kategorie Allgemein.

Each week, TSN.ca Fantasy Editor Scott Cullen and NFL Editor Ben Fisher discuss three hot fantasy football topics. After a slow start to the season, is Robert Griffin III fully back? Where in QB rankings will hell finish the year? Cullen: Last week at Minnesota (281 passing yards, three touchdowns) provided RGIII with a season-high 27 fantasy points in TSN leagues, but its likely a case of taking advantage of a porous Vikings 29th-ranked pass defence, which he could very well do against Philadelphias 31st-ranked pass defence this week. In the previous two games, though, Griffin had a total of 13 fantasy points, with only one touchdown pass, so its too soon for me to say hes as good as ever. Hes on the fringe of being a fantasy starter, ranking 12th in QB points this season and close enough that he could easily slide into the Top 10, maybe Top Eight by seasons end. Fisher: RGKnee is finally meeting the lofty preseason expectations of fantasy owners. Hes nearly a Top 10 QB in total points this season but just outside the Top 5 in the last four weeks. It took a little longer for Griffin to return to his rookie form but he appears to be there now. Even with Griffin altering his game to a more cautious one, the injury risk remains high with the sophomore playmaker. That said, Ill assume here he finishes the season healthy and ranks somewhere in the 5-10 range at his position at years end, exactly where a lot of preseason prognostications had him. As a fantasy owner, do you want Rashad Jennings or (a healthy) Darren McFadden starting at RB for the Raiders? Cullen: What Jennings has done really well, when given the opportunity is add yardage in the passing game to his overall totals, so in three games that he has had more than 20 touches, hes gained more than 100 yards from scrimmage. While McFadden has been an effective receiver in the past, hes hardly being used that way now, so his production hasnt been as strong. Strange as it is to say, Id go with Jennings until some team proves they can bottle him up. Fisher: Fantasy owners have long known that taking Darren McFadden in the draft also means you have to spend a late pick on his backup, this year of course being Jennings. Jennings has already paid for himself for the prudent fantasy owner filling in for the injured McFadden, and could prove even more valuable before the season is out. Jennings has simply been the better back all year in Oakland and head coach Dennis Allen confirmed this week what fantasy owners already knew – he deserves more carries even when McFadden returns from injury. The former Jacksonville Jaguar seemingly blew his chance to be a starter last year filling in for the injured MJD, but hes earned another shot this year with the Raiders. At this point a healthy McFadden would likely steal enough carries from the 28-year-old to render both RBs ineffective fantasy starters, but as we all know a healthy McFadden is rarely the case. Is Riley Cooper a legit WR1 with Nick Foles at QB, or just enjoying a hot streak? Cullen: It doesnt appear to be mere coincidence that Coopers game has taken off since Foles took over at quarterback, but WR1 is a lofty placement, especially considering DeSean Jackson already ranks among the top five wideouts in fantasy points per game (13.0) this season. Coopers last two weeks have been monstrous (241 YDS, 5 TD, 54 fantasy points), but Id feel more comfortable with him in a WR2 or even Flex slot. Fisher: I struggled with this one. On one hand, a look at Riley Coopers targets suggest hes not a big enough part of the Eagles offence to rely on from week to week, but on the other hand the speedy 26-year-old is proving to be a playmaker, someone that makes the most of his (somewhat) opportunities. Cooper appears to have developed some nice chemistry with QB Nick Foles, but I like my WR1 to average a few more than five targets a game (just half the targets received by league leaders). For now Ill keep Cooper in the WR2 category. Jimmie Ward Jersey .Martin Caceres marked his return from injury by scoring in the 3-1 win at Napoli and he believes Juventus sent out a warning to the rest of the league with that result. We go out on the pitch every game looking to give our all, Caceres said. The Toronto Argonauts signed the veteran linebacker to a three-year deal Tuesday, hours after the start of CFL free agency. Jonathan Cooper 49ers Jersey . The Austrian ski federation said Morgenstern was "conscious and well responsive" and his condition would be monitored in the intensive care unit of a Salzburg hospital for the next 72 hours. The federation said it was "way too early" to judge Morgensterns chances of competing in Sochi, and that an update on his condition was not expected before Monday. Jeremiah Attaochu 49ers Jersey .Then came December.Three straight losses, including a crushing 27-24 defeat to Washington (4-11) on Saturday, has the Eagles (9-6) on the brink of playoff elimination.OTTAWA -- Paris Jackson says the way his time with his hometown B.C. Lions ended left him with a chip on his shoulder. Now, after 11 seasons in Vancouver, Jackson is heading east to rejuvenate his career. The 33-year-old wide receiver signed with the expansion Ottawa Redblacks in the off-season looking to prove hes still capable of making a valuable contribution both on and off the field. "Thats why I came here," Jackson said. "My family knew I wasnt too happy in Vancouver anymore, not having a role and not really knowing what was going on and just playing kind of spur of the moment and not getting many reps. "I needed a new spark in my career." Jackson was one of the Lions most consistent receivers. His best season was in 2008 when he caught 76 passes for 1,180 yards and eight touchdowns, and was named a CFL West All-Star. In 2009 Jackson moved to slotback, and recorded his second straight 1,000-yard season. In 2010 Jackson saw his receiving numbers decrease as he was hampered by injuries, and from that point on was relegated to a backup role with the Lions leading to frustration and disappointment. He used sparingly in his final three seasons in Vancouver before being released by the Lions. "I knew I still had a lot more athletic ability and a lot more plays to make before I retire," Jackson said. "I knew Ottawa was coming back in the league and I tried to be patient and not show all my cards, but at the end of the day I really wanted to come here because I knew I could help out a lot of young receivers." While his role with the Redblacks has yet to be determined, head coach Rick Campbell says hes been impressed with Jacksons work both on and off the field. "Hes in a competition to win a job and hes been doing a great job so far both on the field with his play and trying to be a leader trying to lead the way for some of the younger guys," said Campbell. "Hes looking good. Paris has been a good player in this league for a long time and I dont think hes done yet." Retribution can be a great motivating factor and its clear Jackson wants to prove hes still a playmaker. "I have a chip on my shoulder," Jackson said. "I wasnt beat out in Vancoouver.dddddddddddd They just gave someone my spot. Coming off an 800-yard season and two back-to-back seasons of 1,000 yards and they just gave a young guy my spot. Im old school and believe you should have to earn my spot." Jackson says the situation with the Lions didnt sit well with him, but he swallowed his pride, as he knew he was fortunate to still be playing in front of family and friends. But he still believed he could have an impact given the opportunity and thats exactly what he plans on doing in Ottawa. Quarterback Henry Burris believes Jackson has a lot to offer and even went as far as calling the receiver during the off-season and encouraging him to consider Ottawa as a destination. Burris sees no reason why Jackson cant excel and strongly believes the two can be a force for the Redblacks. "Ive already told him Im leaning on him this year," said Burris. "When you look at experience hes our leader on our receiving core. The guys a playmaker and I cant wait to get going with him because Ive seen his potential and the things that hes done in the past, killing us when I played for different teams going against BC. He just needed a chance to play and now hes getting that opportunity." Burris says hes spoken at great length with Jackson and sees a renewed passion. "Hes coming in full steam ahead," said Burris. "He plays with a level of passion you only see the greats play with. Hes chomping at the bit right now." Jackson appreciates having Burris in his corner. "When you have your quarterback on board and he knows where youre supposed to be and you know that the balls going to come it just makes things that much more exciting," Jackson said. While Jackson was determined to keep playing he says his two young children, a five-year-old daughter and three-year-old son, played a big factor in his decision to sign with Ottawa. "Theyve had opportunities to see me play, but I really want them to relish and understand how much I put forward in my career to try and solidify my family for the rest of their life," he said. "I also want them to have memories of me playing for the rest of their life and not just being on special teams." ARLINGTON, Texas -- Nick Tepesch and Robbie Ross helped the Texas Rangers hold off the Seattle Mariners. Tepesch, back from the minor leagues, earned his first major league victory in more than 10 months and the Rangers edged the Seattle Mariners 4-3 on Wednesday. Ross, back in the bullpen after an unsuccessful stint in the rotation, bailed Tepesch out of a seventh-inning jam. Neal Cotts, whose ERA has ballooned from 1.11 in 2013 to 4.34 this season, had a strong eighth. Joakim Soria, back in a closers role this year for the first time since 2011, pitched a perfect ninth inning for his eighth save in eight opportunities. The Rangers offence had three first-inning runs and Shin-Soo Choos leadoff home run in the bottom of the fifth that broke a 3-3 tie. Choos fifth homer went into the bullpen in left-centre. "Two strikes, I was in a rough spot. I think about more (getting) on base," he said. "Got a home run that got up in that gust a little bit, thats it," Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said. "Its a tough ballpark to pitch in, but I thought (Chris Young) did a pretty darn good job for us. Texas turned two double plays. The second was on Ross second pitch after entering the game with one out and runners on first and second for the Mariners. Pinch hitter Stefen Romero grounded to Adrian Beltre, who stepped on third base and threw to first to complete the inning-ending double play. "I was thinking, Gosh, here we go! Im in a situation where I like to be. I was pretty amped," Ross said. "I wanted to be out of that inning without those runs scoring." Tepesch (1-0) allowed five hits and two walks in 6 1-3 innings for his first win since defeating Houston 10-5 on July 5, 2013. The second-year pitcher threw a career-high 112 pitches. It was his second start this season for the Rangers after being recalled from Triple-A Round Rock, where he was 6-1. Texas manager Ron Washington has noticed a difference. "He has an out pitch right now. Hes got that slider working, and hes able to locate his sinker. With that going on and commanding the baseball, I think theres the difference right there." Washington visited Tepesch on the mound with one out in the seventh and Dustin Ackley coming up. Tepesch assured the manager he was OK. Then he walked both Ackley and John Buck. "I just wanted to know how he was feeling," Washington said. "Did he think he had enough to get this lefty up there? Because I had a lefty ready. The look in his eyes, he convinced me, and I had to end up getting Robbie to bail me out." After that, it was Cotts striking out Robinson Cano, who had homered earlier, and Seager, who entered the game with a .358 average in Arlington, with a runner on second base in the eighth. Against former Rangers right-hander Chris Young (3-2), Daniel Robertson led off the first with a walk and scored on Elvis Andrus homer. Alex Rios singled home the third run. Seattle tied it in the fourth. James Jones tripled and scored on Michael Saunders single. Cano then hit his two-run homer. Center fielder Michael Choice ran back to attempt a catch, but his glove hit the wall as the ball barely cleared it. Seattle had only one baserunner against Tepesch in the first three innings: Seager on a leadoff single in the second. He was erased in an unusual 4-5-3 double play. With Texas defence shifted to the right, Smoak grounded to second baseman Luis Sardinas, who threw to Beltre covering second. Beltres relay throw to first beat Smoak. Young gave up seven hits and three walks in 6 1-3 innings. "You have those games where if you can limit the damage early, you feel like youll pitch a good game, and I gave up one too many in the first," Young said. NOTES: Rangers first baseman Prince Fielder (neck) missed a fourth consecutive game, and centre fielder Leonys Martin (stiff neck) was not in the starting lineup for the second game in a row. Martin entered the game as a defensive replacement in the ninth. ... The teams split the two-game series. Clayton Kershaw Jersey . "It was awesome," he said. Coming off an ugly three-game sweep at the hands of the Yankees, Toronto found itself in a deep hole early after the Reds put an eight spot up on starter Liam Hendriks (six runs in 1 2/3 innings pitched) and Todd Redmond in the second. "Rob brings a wealth of coaching experience, having worked both in Canada and overseas in player development," Canada Soccer technical director Tony Fonseca said in a release.MONTREAL - The chances of a second straight trip to the Major League Soccer playoffs are finished for the Montreal Impact, but they hope winning at home gives them something to build on for next year.Jack McInerney and Dilly Duka scored in the final 10 minutes to give the Impact a 2-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night, leaving them 3-0-1 in their last four league games at Saputo Stadium. It wasnt enough to stave off mathematical elimination from the playoffs as the New York Red Bulls and Columbus Crew both won to move out of reach of the 6-17-6 Impact, who have five regular season games left to play.We can still play spoiler, even though San Joses not really there either, but we can still put good performances in for the fans and for ourselves going into next season, said McInerney. Its important to end on a good note.San Jose (6-12-10), whose winless run stretched to nine games, is also in grave danger of missing the post-season.The Impact got the fifth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot in only their second MLS season in 2013, losing their lone post-season game 3-0 in Houston. But they took a step backward in 2014, when poor defence and a 0-11-3 road record was their undoing. But the season is not a write-off yet.Their 1-0 win over the Red Bulls at home on Wednesday put them in first place in their CONCACAF Champions League group with one game left (Oct. 22 in New York), so there is motivation to keep their level of play up to try to salvage something from the campaign. These games will carry into that, said McInerney. The Impact got new life in early August when the gifted Ignacio Piatti joined as the teams second designated player. Since then the entire squad has stepped up the pace, so that they are winning games theyd have let slip away earlier in the season.Other in-season acquisitions, such as Duka and midfielder Issey Nakajima-Farran, have also helped. You never want to use a season to build for the next one, but the club is trying to build something long-term, said defender Heath Pearce, who due to injuries anchored an inexperienced back line against San Jose. You can see the pieces starting to come together slowly.Hopefully that will lead into something special next year. You can see the team coming together. You can see a system and a style that weve been hoping for all year,, and weve added some pieces and now its a lot more realistic style.ddddddddddddNakajima-Farran said it may help that there is little pressure on the Impact in league play at the moment, but he said the players still feed off wins and have had enough of losing. Its just being the players we are, we hate losing, he said. Especially the training after a loss, when everyones still feeling the loss. Its the worst feeling ever. This has been going on for quite a while in Montreal. And when the team doesnt change, guys are getting itchy to get on the pitch. And when we get on, theres a lot to prove, so its good to get a win.Piatti, who has been playing through a nagging bout of tendinitis in his left knee, limped off the field in the 57th minute.Even though the Impact are eliminated and it would be a chance to rest Piatti up for next season, coach Frank Klopas said Well have to see how much action the Argentine midfielder sees. These guys are so competitive, they want to play, said Klopas.McInerney got his eighth of the season and his first since June 29 in the 81st minute to open the scoring. The ball went to Marco Di Vaio from a corner kick and the veteran strikers curling shot needed a diving save from Jon Busch. McInerney was standing on the doorstep and he put up his hands, as though in apology, as the rebound went off his body and into the net.In the 88th, Di Vaio fed Duka near the San Jose area. He cut inside and put a shot between two defenders in off the far post for his third of the season. The Impact were on full attack in the first half, when Piatti and Duka shot over the bar early on and McInerney just missed on a bicycle kick after a lob from Andres Romero. The closest call came in the 38th minute when Piatti tried a long shot that forced Jon Busch into a desperate leap to tip over the bar.The second half saw San Jose get chances, with Chris Wondolowski stopped from close range early and Atiba Harris heading just wide in the 70th.Notes: Montreal outshot San Jose 19-8. . . Playing a third game in eight days, the Impact gave Troy Perkins the start (and the captains armband) in goal ahead of Evan Bush. Academy product Jeremy Gagnon-Lapare got a start at left back and drew praise from Klopas. Left back Krzysztof Krol sat out a suspension from a red card shown in last weeks 2-1 loss at New England. Durham, NH (SportsNetwork.com) - If ever there was doubt about the Missouri Valley Football Conference being the top conference in the FCS, Illinois State provided a reminder on Saturday. The Redbirds rallied past top-seeded New Hampshire, 21-18, with two fourth- quarter touchdowns in the FCS semifinals and gave the Missouri Valley both national finalists - a first in the division. The Jan. 10 title game in Frisco, Texas, will be a fitting and ironic end to the 24-team playoffs as it matches fifth-seeded Illinois State (13-1) against second-seeded North Dakota State (14-1), which will try to win an unprecedented fourth straight FCS title. The two teams were crowned Missouri Valley co- champions this season after not facing each other in the conferences unbalanced scheduling. Illinois State qualified for the championship game for the first time with a clutch fourth-quarter performance after being limited by UNH to only two field goals in the first three quarters. Running back Marshaun Coprich scored on a 2-yard run in the first minute of the fourth quarter to pull the Redbirds within 18-13. Quarterback Tre Roberson then capped their next possession with a go-ahead 47-yard touchdown run with 7:55 left. When Jon-Marc Anderson ran in the two-point conversion, they had a 21-18 lead. New Hampshire (12-2), the CAA Football champion, reached Illinois State territory on its next drive, but was stopped on downs with 4:08 remaining. Coach Brock Spacks Redbirds then converted two first downs to run out the clock. The Redbirds lived dangerously in their first-ever meeting with New Hampshire after having come into the game with a 40.5-point average. Roberson had accounted for 36 total touchdowns in their first 13 games, but was limited to one touchdown run while totaling 373 yards (278 passing, 95 rushing). Coprich had rushed for over 100 yards in each game and entered with an FCS-high 2,089 yards and 26 touchdowns, but he was held to 79 yards on 24 carries. Under Sean McDonnell, who won the Eddie Robinson Award for the second time in his 16th season at UNH, the Wildcats had a 14-game winning streak and appeared to be in control of the game until Illinois State began to wear them down with bigger size and Robersons dual-threat skills. Their two touchdown drives went for 84 and 89 yards. Lechein Neblett was Robersons favorite target with eight receptions for 147 yards. UNH quarterback Sean Goldrich was 19-for-33 for 214 yards and an interception, adding 17 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Nico Steriti rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries, while All-American wide receiver R.J. Harris had six receptions for 68 yards, but was helped off the field twice during the game. New Hampshire, appearing in the playoffs for the 11th straight season - the current active high - took a 15-6 lead into halftime after Illinois State was plagued by missed opportunities in the first half. The Redbirds reached the UNH red zone four times yet came away with only two field goals by Nick Aussieker, who also missed an attempt. The big mistake came late in the first quarter when at the end of an 8-yard run Roberson fumbled the ball away to UNH cornerback Dougie Moss while spinning into linebacker Akil Anderson at the 1-yard line. The Wildcats went on a 96-yard scoring drive from there and Steriti reached the Illinois State end zone on a 6-yard draw up the middle early in the second quarter. Andy Vailas then ran in the two-point conversion to put the Wildcats ahead 15-3. Earlier in the first quarter, New Hampshire took a 7-3 lead when Goldrich scrambled into the Redbirds end zone for a 3-yard score. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday Night No. 2 seed North Dakota State (14-1) 35, Sam Houston State (11-5) 3 Fargo, ND - Sam Houston State might have won a national title or two and be headed back to the FCS championship game for more. If, that is, the Bearkats success in the postseason hadnt been occurring during North Dakota States four-year dynasty. The Bison did it again to Sam Houston Friday night as senior running back John Crockett totaled 232 yards from scrimmage and scored three touchdowns in eliminating the Bearkats, 35-3, in the FCS semifinals at the Fargodome. Next up for the second-seeded Bison (14-1) is a return to the national championship game in Frisco, Texas, where on Jan. 10 they will try to win an unprecedented fourth straight FCS title against fellow Missouri Valley Conference co-champion Illinois State (13-1). The first two of North Dakota States three straight wins in the national final came against Sam Houston. The Bison are a combined 57-3 over the last four seasons, and their senior class has the chance to finish with more national championships than losses in their career. Only two other FCS programs, Eastern Kentucky (1979-1982) and Youngstown State (1991-1994), have advanced to four straight title games. The visiting Bearkats (11-5) from the Southland Conference had hoped for a different result under their first-year coach K.C. Keeler, who had led Delaware to the FCS title in 2003 as well as two other championship appearances. But the Bison, after playing poorly on offense in first half, ran away from the Bearkats behind Crockett (166 rushing yards, 66 receiving) and their powerful offensive line as well as a defense that slowed down Sam Houstons speed in the skills positions. The Bison extended their playoff winning streak to 15 games and their home winning streak to 23. North Dakota State managed only 99 yards in the first half while taking a 7-3 halftime lead, but the Bison nearly matched that total on their second drive of the third quarter when they began to take control of the game. On the third play, Crockett went undefended coming out of the backfield for a 35-yard reception from quarterback Carson Wentz. On the next play, Crocketts backup, King Frazier, sliced through the Sam Houston defensive line for a 33- yard touchdown run which put the Bison ahead 14-3 midway the quarter. On the first play of North Dakota States next drive, Crockett went around left end to explode for a 55-yard touchdown run which extended the lead to 21-3 with 6:52 remaining in the quarter. That margin is usually insurmountable for North Dakota State, but for good measure, Crockett scored on a 10-yard run early in the fourth quarter before Wentz connected with R.J. Urzendowski for a 14-yard touchdown pass with 3:18 left to play. In the statement performance by coach Chris Kliemans squad, the Bison outgained Sam Houston by a decisive 217 yards to 49 in the third quarter and 398-338 overall to end the Bearkats eight-game winning streak. The Bisons improved offensive success in the second half was welcomed after they clung to the 7-3 halftime lead. After the first three Sam Houston possessions didnt produce a first down in the first quarter, the Bison ran off a nine-play, 68-yard scoring drive for a 7-0 lead. Crockett caught a 31-yard reception on the drive and then went off right tackle to ease into the Sam Houston end zone from 3 yards out with 3:52 left. Sam Houston quarterback Jared Johnsons 39-yard pass to Gerald Thomas to the Bison 11 on the first play of the second quarter set up the Bearkats for their only score, Luc Swimberghes 22-yard field goal which completed a 15-play, 82- yard drive and pulled them within 7-3 with 13:37 left in the first half. Johnson, facing great pressure by Bison pass rushers, was 20-for-31 for 227 yards and was picked off in the fourth quarter by linebacker Nick DeLuca (13 tackles), and he added another 66 yards on 25 carries. Wentz was 13-for-19 for 179 yards and one interception in the win. Bison defensive end Kyle Emanuel, the 2014 Buck Buchanan Award winner, had a career-high 11 tackles with 2 1/2 sacks, tying the schools career record of 41 sacks set in 1974 by Jerry Dahl and tied in 1990 by Phil Hansen. Kieran Trippier Jersey .NYCFC confirmed to The Associated Press on Saturday that this week Lampard signed a contract to start in July — midway through the new teams first season in MLS.MONTREAL -- Troy Smith is looking like he will grow into the job as the Montreal Alouettes starting quarterback after all. After the offence was stifled in a season opening loss last week in Calgary, Smith and the entire Alouettes team were a notch better in a 24-9 victory over the struggling B.C. Lions on Friday night. Montreal (1-1) posted the first win by an East Division team over a western club this season and dropped the Lions to 0-2. "There wasnt a lot of difference in play calls, it was just the quarterback making different reads and doing different things," said Smith. "Obviously, having a little more time with the co-ordinator and the offensive line coach is going to help you. "Im kind of greedy in the sense that I like throwing touchdown passes and I didnt get one, so Im still chomping at the bit to get my first one of the season, but if we keep getting wins, thats the most important statistic." Running back Brandon Whitaker and linebacker Chip Cox scored first quarter touchdowns and Sean Whyte kicked three field goals and a single for the Alouettes. The defence made the real difference, sacking B.C. starter Kevin Glenn five times, picking off two passes and recovering a fumble. Smith was sacked only once and was not picked off. Smith completed 17 passes for a relatively modest 187 yards, but he helped the Alouettes pick up 203 yards on the ground with a few timely rushing first downs. The Lions produced only one Paul McCallum field goal with Glenn at quarterback. Backup John Beck had an eight-yard TD toss to Courtney Taylor with 1:20 left in the game on a drive aided by three Montreal penalties. It was their first TD since they got two in the first quarter of a loss last week at home to Edmonton. "This is a tough business to be in because you can be so high one day and so low the next," said the 35-year-old Glenn, who became the starter when Travis Lulay was placed on the six-game injured list with a shoulder injury. "Weve just got to make sure we stick together and try to turn this thing around. "Its a long season. The most important thing is to stick together as a team." The concern for B.C. going into the game was having newcomer Ryan Cave starting at left tackle after only two practices with the team this week. It wasnt all his doing, but Montreal spent much of the first half in the Lions backfield, either sacking Glenn or hurrying throws. Bowman said the defence didnt key on Cave.dddddddddddd "The way (defensive co-ordinator Noel Thorpe) called the game, it wasnt anything against Cave," said Bowman, whose four sacks was one short of a team record. "I actually thought he played OK. "Coach Thorpe called a masterful game. We didnt take advantage of one player, but their scheme in general." The defence came up with the first score 7:36 into the game on a play that had the crowd of 20,018 on its feet. Defensive lineman Scott Paxson reached up a hand to pick off Glenns throw, then flipped the ball to Cox to run 20 yards into the end zone. It was a fifth career TD for Cox. "I had contain on that play," said Paxson. "The quarterback threw the ball a little low and I got my hands on it. After that, I wasnt really thinking. I saw I was about to be tackled so I pitched it to Chip." Cox had one defensive tackle, leaving the 2013 outstanding defensive player two short of moving into the top-10 in CFL history. Smith led a nine-play, 71-yard drive capped by Whitakers 32-yard TD run at 13:27. Whyte added a pair of field goals in the second quarter, one of them set up by an Andrew Harris fumble that was recovered by Jerald Brown on the B.C. 43 yard line. The other came after Smiths 37-yard pass to S.J. Green, which appeared to hit the ground. However, B.C. coach Mike Benevides said spotters got the replay late and the referee ruled that the next play had started before the challenge flag was thrown. "That would have been a difference of three points," Benevides said. "Id love to get the replay on time." Montreal back-up quarterback Tanner Marsh fumbled on a third-and-short play into Solomon Elimimians hands at the Montreal 40 to set up McCallums 24-yard field goal to put B.C. on the board 5:41 into the second half. Glenn had a promising drive die when he was intercepted by Marc-Olivier Bouillette in the end zone early in the fourth quarter. Glenn threw only seven picks all of last season with Calgary, but has six in two games with the Lions. B.C. finally scored with Beck in the game. "I wanted Beck to get some work,"said Benevides. "He had some time to warm up, so I got him in there to get some game reps." The schedule doesnt get easier for the Lions, whose next game is at Saskatchewan on July 12. The Alouettes stay home to face 2-0 Winnipeg next Friday. In a gritty 94-92 Chicago Bulls victory over the Raptors on Wednesday night, D.J. Augustin returned to Toronto to face the team that waived him in December and led the way. Augustin smiled when asked about the big night, but stressed the importance of getting another victory against an Eastern Conference opponent. "It feels good," Augustin said. "Not just with my past here, but because were fighting for the third spot with them so it feels good. It feels really good." Scoring 13 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter against his former team, Augustin got revenge on the team that sent him packing and the Bulls pulled out a huge win against the team that is directly above them in the Eastern Conference standings. "D.J. has been huge for us," Joakim Noah said of his point guard. "And I know this was a big game for him, too, being able to play in Toronto, the team that cut him, and play well like that and lead us to victory. That must be the best feeling in the world. Just prove your doubters wrong." Carlos Boozer led the Bulls with 20 points, Kirk Hinrich scored 19 points and Noah recorded a career-high 13 assists. DeMar DeRozan led the Raptors with a game-high 32 points. Kyle Lowry added 16 points, but shot just 4-for-13 from the floor. With Toronto having played in Washington the night before, the Bulls came out strong and led by 10 at the end of the first quarter. Toronto was able to trim the deficit to seven at the half. Chicago went into the fourth ahead by eight. Things stayed heated throughout the game, particularly down the stretch of the fourth quarter as the teams traded scores until a Jimmy Butler defensive stop on a DeRozan jumper with 2.9 seconds remaining allowed the Bulls to walk off the court victorious. "DeRozan is a load and I thought Jimmy defended him on several plays as well as you can," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. " 1/8DeRozan 3/8 is a big-time player. Each year he has improved significantly to the point where he iss as good as it gets.dddddddddddd Theres constant pressure on you. Jimmy battled and thats what I like about Jimmys mindset. He is going to keep coming." While DeRozan was unsuccessful down the stretch, the Raptors had a hard time criticizing the effort they received from their All-Star. "Hes our go-to guy throughout the game," Raptors coach Dwane Casey said of DeRozan. "He gave us 32 points and hes going to grow into that role in closing games. Thats something he has to learn how to do. Its not a lack of trying; he made a strong move there, got into the paint, rose up and got a shot off. I dont know how you can fault it." It was Chicagos first game since the all-star break layoff, but they showed little rust, and plenty of intensity. "That was a playoff game," Casey said. "Thats something our players have to get used to. That type of intensity, that physicalityawe have to initiate that from the beginning of the game." Seven technical fouls were called in the grind it out game, and exactly the type of game that Chicago excels at. "We were going against a tough Eastern Conference team," DeRozan said. "Thats one of the toughest teams when it comes to physicality, beating you up, holding, grabbing through the whole game." DeRozan wasnt surprised that Augustin had a big game in his return to the city. "D.J. Can shoot the ball," DeRozan said. "Hes a smart point guard. Hes very crafty. Hes creative. He knocked down a couple of big shots for them." Chicago pulled ahead by as many as 15 points in the first half before the Raptors called a timeout midway through the second quarter. Coming out of the timeout, Toronto reeled off a 14-2 run before trailing 48-41 at the half. The Bulls refused to relinquish their lead and they led 70-62 after three quarters. Back-to-back three-pointers from Augustin to open the fourth put the Bulls up by 10. After Butlers stop on DeRozan, the Raptors fouled Butler and he made one of two free throws to put the Bulls ahead by two. A 43-foot heave from DeRozan at the buzzer missed the mark. New York, NY - New York Rangers centre Derek Stepan is set to make his season debut on Saturday against Toronto after recovering from a fractured fibula. Stepan was hurt during practice in late September. He suffered a non-displaced fracture and missed the teams first 12 games of the season. The 24-year-old Minnesota native was cleared for contact earlier this week. In 82 games last season, Stepan scored 17 goals and set career highs with 40 assists and 57 points. He has compiled 73 goals with 124 assists for 197 points in 294 games. Stepan had never missed a regular-season game in his first four years with the Rangers, but did miss one game in the Stanley Cup playoffs last season, sitting out Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Canadiens after he suffered a broken jaw on a hit by Montreals Brandon Prust. Rangers defenceman Dan Boyle also skated with the team Friday and could return next week after recovering from a broken hand he suffered in the season opener against St. Louis. Boyle, who signed as a free agent in July, was hurt while blocking a shot in the third period of the 3-2 Rangers win. Custom Adidas Golden Knights Jerseys . 1 Pete Sampras. called up from the minors that day

SAN DIEGO - The New England Patriots spent the week in San Diego, where they got rained on like everyone else for a few days.By the time Tom Brady took his spot in front of a bed of roses at picturesque University of San Diego for his weekly news conference, the clouds had cleared and the sun came out.Perfect timing for Brady, a Californian. If the Patriots (9-3) beat the Chargers (8-4) on Sunday night, the extra time in the Golden State will have been worth it.Its been good, Brady said. I think weve had a good couple days. Now it starts to feel like California weather. ... Guys have a lot of time to kind of be together and spend a lot of time that we dont typically get to spend so thats been a real plus.In order to cut down on travel, the Patriots flew to San Diego after their loss at Green Bay last Sunday.Sunday nights game will feature premier quarterbacks in Brady and San Diegos Philip Rivers, and two of the games top tight ends, New Englands Rob Gronkowski and San Diegos Antonio Gates.Did the Patriots have too much time on their hands in California? Gronkowski and other Patriots hung out with Justin Bieber at a Los Angeles Clippers game Monday night.Told that some Patriots fans were concerned about a Bieber curse, Gronkowski said, Were just on to San Diego. Just worried about the Chargers, man.Spoken like someone who plays for Bill Belichick. Here are some things to look for when the Patriots and Chargers, two original AFL teams, meet Sunday night:GRONK & GATES: Gronkowski and Gates each come in with nine touchdown catches, looking to become the first tight end in NFL history to have four 10-TD seasons.Defensive co-ordinators John Pagano of the Chargers and Matt Patricia of the Patriots likely have had nightmares all week.Theyre two great players, Brady said. Its really a tough matchup when you play guys like that. I think that particular position, especially for us and how important it is in our offence, and I know it is in San Diegos offence ... its just a tough matchup.GRONK: How will the Chargers cover Gronkowski?I think the whole team. Ten guys in coverage. At least one guy rushing the quarterback, and hopefully thats me, joked Chargers outside linebacker Dwight Freeney. Hes having a great year. Hes so hard to stop. He has so much size. I think its unfair for a guy to have that much size and speed and be able to catch the ball and be able to block. So he never leaves the field. Hes always a threat.GRONK II: Gronkowski, who is 6-foot-6, 265 pounds, has 65 catches for 910 yards and nine TDs this season.Gates said hell be focused on his own game but I understand that theres another guy across the way thats pretty good, obviously. Hes always talked about. Hes catching touchdowns. My whole thing is that hes keeping the tradition going that me and my guy Tony (Gonzalez) started. Were excited that this position is still getting looked at as one of the premier matchup-problem positions.GATES: The 12-year veteran has 47 catches for 574 yards and nine TDs this season.Hes an unbelievable player, Gronkowski said. Ever since high school Ive looked up to him. I love the way he runs routes and how he gets open and how he makes it stick at the top of the routes to get open. Ive always watched him ever since growing up and I still watch him to do this day to learn from him.BRADY & RIVERS: The guys throwing to the tight ends are pretty good, too.Rivers has thrown 69 touchdown passes to Gates, the most from a QB to a tight end in NFL history. Brady has thrown 50 scoring passes to Gronkowski, the most TD connections in Patriots history.Brady has the upper hand over Rivers, though, beating San Diego four of five times since Rivers became the starter in 2006, including twice in the playoffs. Rivers only win against the Patriots came in 2008, weeks after Brady suffered a season-ending knee injury in the opener. The Chargers have only three sacks in the past five games. Now would be a good time to get that going.Freeney has been a pain in our butt for a long time, Brady said. They have a good, athletic group of linebackers. They rotate a lot of guys. .. They went on the road in Baltimore and beat a really good team on the road, which is tough to do. Thats what were going to need to be able to do.___Follow Bernie Wilson on Twitter at http://twitter.com/berniewilson___Online: http://pro32.ap.org/poll and http://twitter.com/AP_NFL Royce Freeman Jersey . LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Steve Stricker became the third and final assistant on U.S. Ryder Cup captain Tom Watsons staff, an honour that came with just a hint of regret. "I feel old," Stricker said shortly after the announcement was made at Valhalla Golf Club, where hes playing in the PGA Championship. "The way my body feels make feel old, too." The 47-year-old Stricker played on the last three U.S. teams. But watching from the sidelines this time wont diminish his desire for revenge. He was left standing on the 18th green at Medinah in 2012, when Martin Kaymer of Germany sealed the win for Europe with a putt for a 1-up win in the match. "Theres a bunch of guys who want to try to get that cup back," Stricker said. He joins Raymond Floyd, 71, and fellow Wisconsin native Andy North, 64, as Watsons assistants. Given his friendship with North, Stricker was asked how the two would divvy up responsibilities when the matches are contested Sept. 26-28 at Gleneagles in Scotland. "Hes the big cheese," Stricker laughed. "Hes always been big cheese in Wisconsin." Stricker also played five times at the Presidents Cup, where his low-key personality made him a good match and frequent playing partner for Tiger Woods. Though he was also part of Woods foursome during Wednesdays practice, Stricker never mentioned being selected as an assistant. "He didnt tell me," said Woods. "I guess he was focused on his game. "I think its great," added Woods, who is still angling for a spot on the Ryder Cup team as a wild-card pick. "Because Strick is not only a good guy, hes also one of our peers. ... I think its important to have someone who is out here on a regular basis, who knows the guys, knows their personalities, knows their games inside and out. I think thats well deserved." For his part, Stricker said twice that he wanted Woods on the team -- provided his oft-injured back isnt a problem. "We know how important he is in the game of golf, and how good a match play player he is; when you really do need him, hell be there," Stricker said. "So well see. Well see how it plays out this week. Hopefully hes healthier and he can get his game going." In making the announcement, Watson, who turns 65 next month, couldnt help tickling his newly named assistant on the age issue. When someone pointed out to Watson that Stricker was "obviously of a different generation to the other two vice captains that youve selected," the captain cut the question off. Turning to Stricker, he said, "Are you a different generation than North?" "A couple generations," Stricker replied, to a round of laughter. Corentin Tolisso Jersey .com) - Ames, IA (SportsNetwork.
