MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Colin Kaepernick threw three touchdown passes, ran for 113 yards and nearly rallied the woeful San Francisco 49ers from a 17-point deficit in the final eight minutes Sunday, which left a lot to talk about afterward. That included communism in Cuba.Kaepernick drew loud boos from Miami Dolphins fans early in the game for his political views, including recent comments in defense of the former Cuban leader Fidel Castro. Following the 49ers 31-24 loss, Kaepernick spoke at length about Castros policies.I agree with the investment in education, Kaepernick said. I also agree with the investment in free universal health care, as well as the involvement with him in helping end apartheid in South Africa. I would hope that everyone believes those things are good things. Trying to push the false narrative that I was a supporter of the oppressive things that he did is just not true.In August, Kaepernick drew attention for wearing a T-shirt that featured Castro along with Malcolm X. In a conference call Wednesday with South Florida media, Kaepernick defended Castro, who was enormously unpopular in Miami. The timing of Kaepernicks visit to Florida, coinciding with Castros death, became the latest chapter in a surreal season for the 49ers quarterback. He has drawn strong, mixed reactions for kneeling during the national anthem to protest the treatment of minorities. He also has gone 0-6 as a starter, but the latest game might have been his best yet.The 49ers trailed 31-14 with eight minutes left but scored twice, forced a punt and started at their 38 with 1:44 to go. Kaepernick drove them to the 6 but scrambled on the final play and was stopped at the 2 when sandwiched by Kiko Alonso and Ndamukong Suh.I could tell he was going to try to tuck it in and run, and everyone did a good job of running to the ball and stopping him, Alonso said.Alonso, ironically, is a Cuban American. He said he knew nothing about Kaepernicks comments regarding Castro, but was pleased to learn from relatives about the former dictators death and the resulting celebrations in Miami.I heard there were some big parties on Calle Ocho, Alonso said. I know that my father was happy. There was no celebrating -- again -- for the 49ers (1-10), who set a franchise record with their 10th consecutive loss. Kaepernick said he misfired on some passes but was pleased his team didnt quit. Our guys did a great job fighting to the end, he said. At the beginning of the game I asked them to go four quarters with me, and they did.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFL.---Follow Steven Wine on Twitter: http://twitter.com/Steve-Wine. HOUSTON -- After their pitching carried them to a pair of victories this week and set the stage for a series sweep of the Seattle Mariners, the Houston Astros turned to their offense to seal the deal in a 9-8 win Wednesday night.Entering Wednesday, the Astros owned the second-best ERA (3.43) in the American League since May 1. Despite an off night on the mound in the finale against Seattle, Houston (46-39) generally is showcasing impressive pitching depth. We have a lot of guys that are pitch executers and are really good at it, Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. Sometimes that comes with some disrespect (from the opposition). I feel like our guys can stand their own, and when we go out and pitch our game, we have every opportunity to win (that) game, which is the role of the starting pitcher. You have to earn that over time, and sometimes the narrative doesnt follow the facts. I love our pitching staff, we have ways to get better, and I look forward to seeing if the script can maintain this type of consistency the rest of the season.Astros right-hander Doug Fister (8-5, 3.66 ERA) will seek to rebound against the Athletics on Thursday from consecutive losses following a career-high-tying, seven-game winning streak. Fister surrendered five runs on nine hits over 4 2/3 innings against the Chicago White Sox on July 2, the most runs he allowed since April 14 against the Kansas City Royals.Fister has enjoyed success against the Athletics this season and throuughout his career.dddddddddddd He is 2-0 with a 0.71 ERA in two starts against Oakland in 2016, allowing one earned run over 12 2/3 innings. For his career, Fister is 7-6 with a 3.17 ERA over 15 starts against the As.Athletics left-hander Rich Hill (8-3, 2.31 ERA) will make his 10th career appearance and sixth start against the Astros, against whom he is 2-1 with a 2.88 ERA.Hill will make his second start since his return from the disabled list. Sidelined for the entire month of June due to left groin discomfort, Hill allowed two runs on four hits and two walks with six strikeouts over six innings against the Pirates on July 2, a game the Athletics lost 4-2.Everything was good command, Hill said. Breaking ball was good, changeup was good, slider was good. I just expect more out of myself going out there. When we go out there and score two runs we (need) a shutdown inning to keep us ahead and let them work. Thats one thing that didnt sit well with me.The 36-year-old veteran had won five consecutive starts before landing on the DL.The Athletics (36-49) have lost six of seven games and were swept in three games in their last visit to Houston. Perhaps the only recent bright spot for Oakland was the Wednesday performance of ace right-hander Sonny Gray, who allowed one run over six innings in a 4-0 loss to the Minnesota Twins. ' ' '

Underdogs and Dota 2 fan favorites clashed on Day 2 of The Summit 6. Digital Chaos, who took second place at The International 6, saw David MoonMeander Tan facing his former team OG in the quarterfinals. Evil Geniuses, meanwhile, would face Team Faceless, one of the scariest dark horses in the tournament.Game 1 of DC vs. OG was a long slugfest between two talented squads. Aliwi w33 Omar found four kills in the first five minutes, establishing his mid-lane Ursa as a constant threat. OG extended the match with help from Gustav s4 Magnusson and Anathan ana Pham, who both finished the game with 90 percent kill participation on Dark Seer and Invoker, respectively. OG took Game 1 in just under an hour, and had the momentum headed into Game 2.Digital Chaos draft for Game 2 seemed built to win the late game this time, with captain Rasmus MiSeRy Filipsen turning to a flex Naga Siren, a crucial part of the teams winning TI6 strategy. OG responded with a Morphling for Johan n0tail Sundstein, and combined with Magnussons Clockwork, DC were simply unable to deal with the aggression OG could exert in every lane. OG took the series 2-0, and advanced to the semifinals to await the victor of EG vs. Team Faceless. In the second series of the day, Evil Geniuses asserted dominance in the first match, with Daryl iceiceice Koh Pei Xiang falling several times to EGs safe lane. Artour Arteezy Babaev took the lead and ran with it, holding a 617 gold-per-minute while Sumail Suma1L Hassan found kills and farm around the map on Mirana. Dominik Black Reitmeier worked to find gold and kills on Slark, but two key teamfights went EGs way and snowballed into a 40-minute win for the North American squad.Faceless struck back in Game 2, with Xiang finding momentum in the early game on his offlane Nyx Assassin. Hassans Pugna was impressive, but his blasts and ward were unable to beat back Faceless, who took the victory to even the series. For Game 3, EG opted to use a first-round ban on Nyx Assassin, forcing Xiang to turn to a Faceless Void pick while EG nabbed an Ursa for Babaev. In the one-on-one matchup in the Dire long lane, Babaev found farm and plenty of kills on Xiang. Like a rolling stone, Babaev and Co. took lane after lane, tower after tower, and at 43 minutes secured the series and a spot in the final match of the day.To close out Day 2, the winners of each series faced off: Evil Geniuses against OG. Picking up a Drow and Invoker for hard carries, EG looked ready to push towers and secure an early Game 1 win. Jesse JerAx Vainikka had other plans. On a four-role Pudge for OG, key hooks and rotations secured farm for Phams Alchemist and some extra pull for Magnussons Batrider. In a quick 27 minutes, OG squashed the aggressive Drow composition of EG, and put the North American squad on match point.Evil Geniuses looked poised for a comeback in Game 2, after a series of early kills for Hassan on a mid-lane Tiny and a massive Warlock ultimate earning a triple kill for Ludwig zai W?hlberg. OG kept pace, however, finding gold wherever they could and looking to Phams Dragon Knight and Sundsteins Drow Ranger to secure objective gold. At the 26-minute mark, OG struck out at EG, quickly securing kills on W?hlbergs Warlock and Andreas Cr1t- Nielsens Earth Spirit. One massive teamfight win was all OG needed to close the gap and more, pushing down two barracks and closing out the series 2-0. OG secures a top-3 berth and will meet Virtus.Pro in the upper bracket finals, while Evil Geniuses drops to the lower bracket. OTTAWA -- Is there such a thing as a soft underbelly on the back-to-back defending Olympic champions? You wouldnt think so when on Monday, the first day of World Cup of Hockey training camp for Team Canada, the fourth line had Claude Giroux between Matt Duchene and Joe Thornton.Thats right, fourth line. But Im here to tell you that losing defenseman Duncan Keith (right knee rehab) was a huge blow, no matter how skilled this team is. And not only because his stand-alone talent speaks for itself, but also because his absence puts more pressure on a Canadian left side on defense that isnt as deep as the rest of this otherworldly squad.Pretty nice luxury to lose a player like Keith and be able to replace him with a player with [Jay] Bouwmeesters international experience and ability, a Western Conference coach requesting anonymity said via text message. That said, they may miss Keiths offense; his puck movement from the left side of the ice and his ability to get up ice. I think Canada is going to face some teams who are really going to approach their games with a strong defensive approach and their D will be huge in countering that. Losing him on the power play may also force the coaching staff to be a little more creative, depending on what they were planning with setups and left/right shot combinations. And, frankly, thats putting it mildly. Next to Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Toews and Carey Price, Keith was on a list of about four or five players Team Canada would have considered irreplaceable, again in large part because of that left-right concern.Thats no disrespect to Marc-Edouard Vlasic, who was outstanding at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and has continued to elevate his game ever since, but the reality is that Jake Muzzin is a newcomer to this stage and the respected Bouwmeester has some miles on him. As such, the drop-off from Keith is real. Whereas if Canada had lost Norris Trophy winner Drew Doughty or veteran stud Shea Weber on the right side, there would have been replacement options such as P.K. Subban, Kris Letang or Brent Seabrook, such is Canadas ridiculous high-end depth on the right side.Which begs the question some Canadian hockey fans have had in the aftermath of Letang, Seabrook and Subban not making this team: Why does the left-right thing matter so much? Its just a simple thing, began Team Canada coach Mike Babcock on Monday before going on to answer the question in a complicated way.To quickly sum up the Canadian head coachs detailed, Xs-and-Os answer, the left-right balance matters to him greatly in the areas of puck possession and transition. It does make a huge difference, Doughty said Monday, echoing his coach. Most teams in the league will do the lefty-righty combo. Its really important to have.Except Team Canada might not get it completely in this tournament. There was Alex Pietrangelo on Monday, skating on the left side of fellow righty Brent Burns on what appears to be the third pairing. No big deal, insisted Pietrangelo. Its a bit of an adjustment, but when you have the quality of players we have, its not really an issue, shrugged the newly named St. Louis Blues captain. Pietrangelo said he played three or four games last season for the Blues on the left side.It was different, but it worked out, he said. I look at it this way: If I can be versatile and play on both sides, its like a switch-hitter in baseball, right? If you can play both sides, it should just benefit you.Babcock spoke with Pietrangelo a few weeks ago to see if hed be willing to try it. No sweat, said Pietrangelo. What it means is that Canada could open the tournamment with four righties in the top six, which is not ideal.dddddddddddd. But the coaching staff might think thats what makes the most of the talent at hand. Keiths injury has had other repercussions: Vlasic played well with Doughty in Sochi but now finds himself at the start of camp replacing Keith and thus pairing with Weber, while Muzzin logically gets paired with his Kings pal, Doughty.Still, if Keith were here, I believe Muzzin would have been the seventh defenseman. Now hes in a top-four role -- just more domino effect from Keith being out.And while Pietrangelo downplayed his switch to the left side, its clearly a big adjustment for others. For me, if I have to go play on the left side -- not that Im bad at it -- but its definitely not as comfortable, said Doughty. And defensively, its different with your stick positioning on one-on-one, or even just exiting your zone or taking a D-to-D pass; youre looking at your partner rather than up ice right away. So its hard to play on your off side, but once you get used to it, its like anything else; once you keep practicing it and playing it, it gets easier. But if you basically havent played it in years and get thrown on the left side, its going to be a challenge.Added Weber: It seems like a simple thing [switching to the left side], but everythings different. Your body is accustomed to turning predominantly one way for the most part on the one side of the ice. It can be done -- guys are good players and can adjust -- but it does take a little bit of time to get used to it.In fact, Weber played on the left side when Seth Jones entered the league with the Nashville Predators.I would catch myself just drifting over to the right all the time because it was just an automatic, subconscious thing, said Weber. Theres an adjustment, for sure.If Pietrangelo can comfortably handle it, thats going to go a long way toward Team Canada having the kind of top-six blue-line machine that propelled the squad to an unreal defensive performance in Sochi.Still, Keith is a special player, as he showed in winning the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2015.Hes one of the best, man, Team Canada goaltender Corey Crawford, Keiths Chicago Blackhawks teammate, said Monday. He can make plays all over the ice. He just makes everyone better around him. Obviously, Canada wants a guy like that to be here. But it is what it is.Veteran head coach Ken Hitchcock, missing out on his first best-on-best tournament in a long time -- he was a part of the Canadian staff from 2002 in Salt Lake City through Sochi -- had a first-row seat to observe Keiths impact at the 2010 and 2014 Olympic Games.Duncan was never afraid of the stage, Hitchcock said this weekend. Bigger the game, better he played; he could play in all situations.Yes, Team Canada was able to overcome the injury loss of Steven Stamkos before the 2014 Olympics and of John Tavares during the tournament. But again, top-shelf forward depth is rarely an issue for Team Canada.Keiths injury could be more impactful. If Canada wins again, it will be a testimony to a great coaching staff and a defense corps that adjusts swimmingly. If the host team loses? Canadian fans will want to know why Subban or Letang wasnt on the team. The great thing about being in Canada, you can second-guess all the players, and theres always someone who got left off, said Babcock. What I find is, if you win, when you win, they dont ask you any questions. If you dont win, they ask lots of questions. ' ' '

TORONTO -- Even though it is Kyle Lowry currently shooting lights out for the Toronto Raptors, second-year man Norman Powell is only too happy to take the credit.Lowry had 24 points and seven assists for the Raptors in a 113-80 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night, compared to Powells 16. But according to Powell, its his pre-game tradition with the All-Star guard that is powering his hot hand.We have a little shooting competition, the first to make five from five spots, and ever since weve started doing that hes been lighting it up, so Im taking credit for it, Powell said jokingly after the game, Torontos season-high fifth straight victory and a fourth consecutive win over the Lakers.Lowry, who has scored 20-plus points in his last six games against the Lakers, averaging 24.8 points, was only too happy to back up his teammates claim. He can take credit. My teammates, they can all have the credit, he said. My teammates are the reason Im able to do the things that Im able to do.Lowry tied his season high for 3-pointers, going 6 of 9 from beyond the arc as the Raptors registered their biggest win of the season. The 33-point victory surpassed the 27-point win over Philadelphia on Oct. 28.Still, coach Dwane Casey was more interested in his teams defensive performance, as Toronto held Los Angeles to an opponent season low of 80 points and .344 shooting from the field. The Raptors were particularly dominant in the second quarter, outscoring the Lakers 41-26 while shooting 75 percent from the field. But it takes more than that to impress the Raptors coach.Case dont say nothing about offense. Case dont care, said DeMar DeRozan, who had 16 points. Everything that comes out of his mouth is defense.Even though the game was the Lakers third in four nights, coach Luke Walton was not about to use that as an excuse.I felt like we werent mentally ready to compete against one of the better teams in the NBA tonight, he said. I dont know if thats just fatigue from the travel and the road trip so far. Even if it is it cant be an excuse in this league.Brandon Ingram had 17 points for the Lakers, who are 1-2 on their four-game road trip. Meanwhile their bench, the top scoring unit in the NBA, chipped in with Jordan Clarksons 14 and former Raptor Lou Williams 13.The Lakers were held to just 14 points in the third quarter and 32 points in the second half, as Toronto successfully nursed a 21-point halftime lead all the way to the end, emptying its bench and giving minutes to some of its lesser lights. You have to give them credit, they played really good, former Raptor Jose Calderon said. They kept making shots in the right moment and played good defense. We didnt find a guy today who was really hot or going.TIP-INSLakers: G DAngelo Russell (left knee) missed his seventh consecutive game and F Nick Young (right calf) sat out his second straight contest. ... F Julius Randle played his 100th NBA game Friday night. He has 39 double-doubles over that span. ... Powell started in his place. ... DeRozans six assists extended his career-long streak with at least four assists to 11 games. ... Lowry has made multiple 3-pointers in 10 straight games, tied for the longest such streak of his career.KERR-AZY VOTERSDespite leading the Lakers to a surprising 10-10 record over the first month of the season, Walton was passed over for Western Conference coach of the month in favor of his former boss, Steve Kerr of 16-2 Golden State.Im furious that Steve Kerr won coach of the month, Walton said jokingly. No, Im happy for him obviously. It doesnt matter to me who wins coach of the month. Were trying to do something thats bigger than individual awards.DOMINATING FROM DOWNTOWNThe Raptors, who shot 41.4 percent from 3-point range, had double-digit 3-pointers (12) for the fifth straight game. Lowry led the way with six, and in his last four games is shooting 71 percent (20 of 28) from beyond the arc.MOVING ON UPDeRozans six field goals saw him pass Vince Carter (3,536) for second on the franchises all-time list. Chris Bosh leads the way with 3,614.UP NEXTLakers: Will look to end a five-game losing streak in Memphis when they face the Grizzlies on Saturday.Raptors: Aiming for sixth straight win when they host Atlanta on Saturday. A big centre with all the tools to be an elite player, Johansen paced the Blue Jackets with a standout game Saturday night. THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- Jared Goff nearly made his NFL debut Sunday after starting quarterback Case Keenum bruised his non-throwing hand during the Los Angeles Rams fourth consecutive loss.I said, `Jared, get warmed up, get ready, Rams coach Jeff Fisher said Monday. He said, `Coach, Im ready. I said, `I know you are.But when Keenum determined he could continue, the NFLs No. 1 overall draft pick remained rooted to the Los Angeles bench, where he has stayed for the entire first half of his rookie year. The Rams subsequently lost their fourth straight game, falling to 3-5 in a season that could be slipping away.Fisher believes Goff is ready to play if needed, but he still doesnt expect his prized pick to make his debut soon, despite the We want Goff! chants that echoed down from the Coliseum stands, imploring the Rams to see what theyve got.Keenum will start again this weekend when the Rams visit the similarly struggling New York Jets (3-6).I know everybody wants to talk about it, and thats the big question, Fisher said. Hes going to play. Whether its the following week or the following week, its eventually going to happen. Big-picture, as I keep saying, this is about making sure hes ready to go out there and be sharp and give us a chance to win.But the Rams havent won since Oct. 2, largely due to an offense thats showing few signs of progress lately. Other than a solid effort in a loss at Detroit last month, the Rams offense hasnt cracked 20 points since September. They got a meager one touchdown and 10 points apiece in the last two games from a unit ranked 31st in total offense with just 311.5 yards per game.Although his passer rating is a pedestrian 77.2, ranking him 29th among players with at least 100 pass attempts this season, Keenum has been neither spectacular nor terrible most weeks. He has been just solid enough to allow Fisher to make a persuasive argument that Keenum isnt the Rams biggest problem.Todd Gurley and the runningg game are largely unable to move the ball, and theyre currently sitting 30th in the NFL with just 77.dddddddddddd2 yards per game after Gurleys 48-yard performance against Carolina. A standout quarterback can prevent defenses from focusing on the running game, but repeatedly playing with a deficit has forced Los Angeles to abandon the ground attack early, which means Gurley has just 41 carries in the last three games.Fisher claims he understands the fans eagerness and the logic behind their urgency, but the inert offensive effort against Carolina didnt change his mind. He also rejected the notion that the Rams wont turn to Goff unless theyre out of the playoff race later this season. The Rams havent made the playoffs since 2004 or had a winning record since 2003.I dont think the playoff contention (metric) is fair to the football team, Fisher said. Our expectations are were going to stay in it, so well see. Im not ruling out the possibility that hell make a playoff run for us as well. But for right now, Case is starting, and were going to New York.Fisher also has no public concerns about his contract status. The veteran coachs deal is up this season, and owner Stan Kroenke has made no public announcement about Fishers future after four straight losing seasons with the club.Im not uncomfortable at all, Fisher said. Im uncomfortable because I didnt expect to be 3-and-whatever we are, but Im not uncomfortable at all. I never look over my shoulder. Were moving on. Stan and I are on the same page. He understands what weve been through. Hes as disappointed as I am with the losses, two or three points, seven points, in the last three games. He understands that were competitive and were doing everything we possibly can to get this turned around.---For more NFL coverage: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '

Its just a matter of who wants to dominate.

After a short lull period following SummerSlam and TakeOver: Brooklyn II, NXT has returned to form over the past few weeks as the first round in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic continues and the road to Toronto becomes clearer. Two of the biggest matches for NXT TakeOver: Toronto have already been announced on various WWE social media platforms. The long-teased and anticipated rematch between Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura, as announced by William Regal, is a natural main event for the show, and with their brawl throughout the arena on the most recent episode of NXT, the build to this match should be spectacular. The NXT womens championship bout was a much harder match to see coming, as few, if any, of the women currently on the NXT roster have been made to seem ready for this kind of match. Just as they brought in Jushin Thunder Liger for a one-off appearance at the original TakeOver show in Brooklyn, theyre bringing in a ringer to square off with Asuka in Toronto -- one with whom WWE fans should be quite familiar.Mickie James hasnt been in a WWE ring since April 2010, but she brings with her the kind of résumé and gravitas that no in-house opponent could have provided. The special one-time only element should add to the show, and allow some of the up-and-coming women in NXT to have the chance to work a match that moves them further up the ladder as a believable counterpart to the seemingly unstoppable Asuka. James, who was under WWE contract from 2003 through 2010, wrestled in TNA, where she became the first (and only) woman to have held the WWE womens, WWE Divas and TNA Knockouts championships. She had a child with wrestler Nick Aldis (better known as Magnus) in September 2014, and the pair married on Dec. 31, 2015. James started wrestling again on the independents earlier this year and now heads to Toronto to face off with the undefeated NXT womens champion. The rest of the card is shaping up quite nicely as well.Liv Morgans conflict with the Australian duo of Billie Kay and Peyton Royce has been well-done so far, but it remains to be seen how this all pays off. It seems likely to become either a multiway match, or a tag team encounter down the line, but there seems to be some genuine heat forming between these three.Following their respective betrayals of their Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic partners, Bobby Roode and Andrade Cien Almas both look to be positioned to face off with their former partners in Toronto. Roode and Tye Dillingers partnership never seemed likely to last, while Almas made a heel turn that finally elicited a proper reaction from the Full Sail crowd when he betrayed Cedric Alexander. Almas went so far as to soak in the boos as he fell to his knees at the top of the entrance ramp, and this move should work wonders for the progression of his character. As for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, the tournament bracket has been set up for any of a number of different outcomes with a likely final match taking place in Toronto. If The Revival make a deep run, the tag team titles might not be defended, but if they go out before the semifinals theres a very real possibility of a tag title defense on Nov. 19. It seems unlikely that neither The Revival nor DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) make it through to the final on their side of the bracket, and if that does play out, a rematch of the show-stealing title match from Brooklyn could easily attempt to do the same thing in Toronto.DIY, The Revival, Authors of Pain, SAnitY, TM61 and all-star pairings like Kota Ibushi and T.J. Perkins, who replaced the injured Hideo Itami, each have arguments to ultimately hoist the trophy at the end of this tournament.SAnitY made an impressive debut on this weeks episode of NXT, and their entrance music and lighting are another inspired turn by CFO$ and the WWE production crew. The reveal of Eric Young as the leader elicited a big reaction from the crowd, and the gimmick offered instant credibility to Alexander Wolfe and Sawyer Fulton as a tag team. Nikki Cross is a wild card in the group, but her aggression and wrestling ability should serve her well.Roderick Strong made his debut during this most recent set of NXT tapings. It couldnt come at a better time for Strong and presumptive Dusty Classic tag team partner Austin Aries, whove done great work both as a team and as opponents over the course of their independent careers. Strongs role going forward in NXT is a little harder to pin down, but an announcement of his signing coming from Triple H cant be a bad thing for his prospects.Heres my projected final card for NXT TakeOver: Toronto:Shinsuke Nakamura versus Samoa Joe (NXT championship)Bobby Roode versus Ty DillingerAsuka versus Mickie James (Womens NXT championship)Liv Morgan and Ember Moon versus Billie Kay and Peyton RoyceAndrade Cien Almas versus Cedric AlexanderDusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic FinalDIY versus The Revival (Tag team championship) Discount Under Armour Shoes . Galatasaray said in a statement on its website Monday that Mancini signed a three-year contract and will be paid 3.5 million euros for the upcoming season, with his salary upped to 4. BOULDER, Colo. -- Colorado fifth-year senior Xavier Johnson looks like hes rounded back into form for the Buffaloes.Johnson scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and Wesley Gordon had 10 points and nine boards, leading Colorado to a 75-60 win over Wofford on Sunday.Johnsons double-double was his first since February 15, 2015 when he had 10 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Stanford. He missed last season after tearing his Achilles tendon during offseason workouts.I really like the way hes helping lead this team, Colorado coach Tad Boyle said. One thing we know Xavier does, for the most part, night in and night out, is he competes. I thought his competitiveness rubbed off on the other guys.George King scored all 10 of his points in the second half for the Buffaloes (5-1), who overcame a lackluster start to win their 12th straight at home. The junior didnt attempt a shot in the first half.King, though, hit all four shots from the field in the second and helped Colorado push its lead to 11. Johnson, whose teammates simply call `X, had a quick seven points as part of a 12-6 burst to extend the lead to 69-55 with 2:30 remaining.Johnson finished 9 of 14 from the field and had three of his teams six offensive boards.I think were all capable of scoring, Johnson said. I think we can all dominate. Its just a matter of who wants to dominate. . I just want to win, so its whatever I have to do. Period.Fletcher Magee led Wofford (1-5) with 15 points, while Cameron Jackson and Ryan Sawvell each had 10. The Terriers have lost four straight.Early on, Wofford looked like the more energized team and trailed by just one point at the half. The Terriers were shooting 50 percent from the field. But Colorado took over iin the second, holding Wofford to 37 percent shooting after the break and finished with a 32-25 edge on the boards.ddddddddddddWe played well but as so often times happens, bigger, stronger, faster athletes got the best of us in the second half, Terriers coach Mike Young said. I look forward to watching (the Buffs) on TV. I dont look forward to playing them again, I can tell you that.BIG PICTUREWofford: Turnovers continue to be a problem for the Terriers, who had 13 on Sunday and 85 in their first six games of the season.Colorado: The Buffaloes struggled early for second time in six days after giving up 50 by halftime against Notre Dame on Monday in the semifinals of the Legends Classic. They responded and won their 14th straight game at home over a non-conference opponent.OLD FOESDerrick White and Eric Garcia both went to high school around Denver and rekindled their rivalry on the court Sunday.Garcia stole the ball from White and fed Jackson for an easy dunk early in the first half. White blew past Garcia for a layup and dunk on two of Colorados next three possessions.I was giving him a hard time for missing some free throws because I know how good a shooter he is, Garcia said of White, who went 4 of 8 from the line. Its just good friendly competition.POLL IMPLICATIONSLook for the Buffs to stay just outside the Top 25 with a loss to the Fighting Irish and a win over No. 22 Texas at the Legends Classic. They received four votes in Week 3.UP NEXTColorado hosts in-state rival Colorado State on Wednesday. The Buffs have won three of the past four meetings.Wofford hosts Mars Hill on Tuesday. ' ' '

England have made five changes ahead of Fiji with Jonathan Joseph, Alex Goode, Semesa Rokoduguni and Teimana Harrison all starting while Elliot Daly shifts to the wing.Eddie Jones delayed the team announcement to Friday as he monitored the fitness of Billy Vunipola, Nathan Hughes and Daly but all three are passed fit to feature at Twickenham on Saturday.Daly, who started at outside centre against the Springboks, moves to the wing where he is joined by Rokoduguni and Goode in the back three while Mike Brown, Jonny May and Marland Yarde miss out. Joseph starts at outside centre. In the back-row Harrison comes in at openside while Hughes is named on the bench with Billy Vunipola starting at No.8.Both were doubts heading into the match with Hughes nursing a lower leg injury and Vunipola upper body soreness, according to the RFU.Henry Slade is included on the bench while Charlie Ewels could make his debut if given the nod from the replacements.Weve picked a side to beat Fiji, England boss Eddie Jones said. Every Test match is an opportunity for us to keep improving and to increase the depth of the squad.Weve made a few changes from last week and those players have a great chance to put their best foot forward and make the team better.England at Twickenham is the game Fiji will have targeted on their tour. They are one of the iconic rugby nations of the world and we respect them enormously. They bring flair and an unbridled enthusiasm to move the ball at pace, with running skills -- if the game becomes unstructured they can be a very dangerous team. Theyll come to Twickenham with no fear and hungry to cause an upset. While we were satisfied with last weeks result against South Africa, there was plenty to improve on. We want a much more complete performance on Saturday - we want to be in total control of the game and tidy-up the things we didnt do well enough last weekend.England:Alex Goode, Semesa Rokoduguni, Jonathan Joseph, Owen Farrell, Elliot Daly, George Ford, Ben Youngs; Mako Vunipola, Dylan Hartley (captain), Dan Cole, Joe Launchbury, Courtney Lawes, Chris Robshaw, Teimana Harrison, Billy VunipolaReplacements: Jamie George, Joe Marler, Kyle Sinckler, Charlie Ewels, Nathan Hughes, Danny Care, Ben Teo, Henry Slade Cheap NFL Jerseys China . Cheap Nike NFL Jerseys . I cant pinpoint a date, but I do remember a player from my youth. Brian Downing was with the Chicago White Sox at a time when I listened to every game I possibly could on the radio. That particular season the late great Harry Caray was calling the White Sox games. Cheap NBA Jerseys . -- Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings was selected Monday to his second straight Pro Bowl, while guard Kyle Long made it after a solid rookie season.CINCINNATI, Ohio -- A rainout at Great American Ball Park did more than push Homer Baileys next attempt at pitching another no-hitter out of Cincinnati. It also raised the possibility, San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy mentioned, of the Giants and Reds playing a makeup game at a neutral site. Thursdays game never got started and was called after a wait of nearly 2 1-2 hours. No makeup date was announced. This was the last day the Giants were scheduled to be in Cincinnati this season. The Reds visit San Francisco later this month. Reds manager Dusty Baker said he would keep his rotation intact. That would mean Bailey, who beat the Giants by pitching his second career no-hitter Tuesday night, wouldnt start Sunday at home against Seattle. Instead, Bailey would try to match Johnny Vander Meers 1938 achievement of pitching no-hitters in back-to-back starts on Monday in Milwaukee. Trying to find a makeup date for two teams that might be in playoff contention could be tricky. The Reds and Giants are both off Aug. 29. It would be the first day after the Reds finish a stretch of 20 games in 20 days and the last before they play 13 games in 13 days; it is also San Franciscos only day off between stretches of playing on 16 and 17 consecutive dates. Major League Baseball rules prohibit teams from playing more than 20 straight days without permission from the players union. Also, the Reds would be in the middle of a road trip to St. Louis and Colorado. The Giants would be in the middle of a trip to Colorado and Arizona. Could Coors Field in Denver be a convenient place to meet? "There are options they discussed for a makeup," Bochy said. "August 29 in Colorado. September 30, the day after the season, we would come here (Cincinnati). They discussed a split doubleheader at our place." Said Baker: &quuot; Were kicking it around, kicking it around about possible dates which are optimal.ddddddddddddquot; "There are none. Theres only one date when were both off, but that would make it 34 (straight) days for both," he said. This postponement was only the seventh rainout in the 11-year history of Great American Ball Park and the first since May 1, 2012, against the Cubs. Even before the rain, Cincinnatis Chris Heisey figured it was a long shot that he would play Thursday despite homering and driving in two runs the previous day. It became a sure thing for Heisey and everyone else when the finale of the four-game series was postponed by rain. Heisey made his first start after spending nearly two months on the disabled list with a strained right hamstring, playing in Wednesday nights 3-2, 11-inning win. Even if the rain had stopped in time for Thursdays game to be played, he figured Bakers caution would keep him on the bench. "(Baker) usually has a good idea of when you can play and when you cant, but I told him that Im feeling great, and Im ready to play whenever he needs me," he said. Sure enough, Heisey wasnt in Bakers starting lineup, in part because right-hander Matt Cain was San Franciscos scheduled starter. That wasnt the only reason. "I kept my eye on him. Usually, when you get hurt is when you get fatigued," Baker said before the game was called. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Cain will start the opener of a three-game series against the Dodgers on Friday in San Francisco. "No changes right now," Bochy said about his rotation. "Cain goes (Friday). (Madison) Bumgarner on Saturday. The plan right now is (Chad) Gaudin on Sunday." Gaudin has been on the disabled list since June 24, retroactive to June 21, with a bruised right elbow. ' ' '

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs designated former All-Star Carlos Marmol for assignment on Tuesday, parting ways with the struggling reliever. Chicago has 10 days to trade or release him or send him outright to the minors if he clears waivers. The 30-year-old Marmol was 2-4 with two saves and a 5.86 ERA in 31 appearances this season, striking out 32 while walking 21 batters. An All-Star as a setup man in 2008, Marmol became the teams closer in late 2009 and compiled 117 saves, third on the Cubs all-time list. He was 23-32 with a 3.50 ERA in 483 appearances in parts of eight seasons with Chicago and is just the fifth player in franchise history with 20 or more saves in three straight seasons, along with Ryan Dempster, Randy Myers, Lee Smith and Bruce Sutter. His best year as closer was 2010, when he finished with 38 saves in 43 chances. He posted a 2.55 ERA with 138 strikeouts and 52 walks that season and followed that up with 34 saves in 2011. But he blew 10 chances that year and posted a 4.01 ERA. Fans patience with him started to wear out, and he was booed at Wrigley Field in recent years. It was clear management was ready to part ways, too. The Cubs had a deal in place that would have sent Marmol to the Los Angeles Angels for Dan Haren last winter, but that fell through. They also signed Kyuji Fujikawa, a longtime closer in Japan, but like Marmol, he struggled. He also suffered a season-ending elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery. The Cubs closer now is Kevin Gregg, the man Marmol replaced in 2009. He has converted all 11 save opportunities after signing a minor league deal with Chicago in April. Besides designating Marmol, the Cubs released third baseman Ian Stewart, who had been at Triple-A Iowa. He was suspended two weeks earlier for ripping the organization on Twitter. The Cubs also selected the contract of outfielder Brian Bogusevic from Iowa on Tuesday. He was batting .319 (83-for-260) with 10 home runs and 32 RBIs in 78 games with Iowa. Fake Lakers Jerseys . Los Angeles Lakers Shirts . -- Ohio States Urban Meyer has never had any issue acclimating to the biggest stages in college football. Her Twitter bio reads: CNN Correspondent. Bison. California soul. Silicon Valley raised. NYC sharpened. The reference to her alma mater -- Howard University, from which she graduated in 1995 with a degree in broadcast journalism -- is subtle, but it is an integral part of Stephanie Elams personal history. You see, once youre a Bison, which is the universitys mascot and how current students and alumni affectionately refer to one another, youre a Bison for life.As a former Howard swimmer, Elam says it was that sense of unity and competition learned on the team that helped her progressively navigate her professional life. Now, as an accomplished journalist, she credits her college experience with giving her the confidence to truly pursue and tackle her dreams head-on.espnW caught up with Elam, 42, before she headed back to Howard for its famed homecoming festivities to get insight on her post-college life and more. This interview has been edited for length.espnW: How did you feel when you were about to leave college and (essentially) your athletic career? What was going through your mind? Stephanie Elam: I knew my athletic career had a time limit. I was OK with that part. The thing that was scary for me was leaving the comfort of my whole Howard family, and then moving to New York City. I was like ... Oh, wow, this is adulting for real. When I think back to the spring [before graduation], everyone was buzzing around asking Do you have a job? Do you have a job? I remember everyone talking about their job pursuits. And I felt good about having secured a position, but I was also completely aware that Ill never have the undergraduate experience again.?espnW: How did your first couple of years out of college go? What did you do? SE: When I graduated, I took an internship with Dow Jones Newswires in New York City. So initially I wasnt necessarily sure of what the future held, but at the end of the summer, they offered me a full-time job. And living in NYC wasnt something I set out do, it wasnt on the top of my to-do list, thats just where I ended up. However, it was a good way to enter New York City -- and prepped with that sports background -- I knew that if you had challenges ahead, you had to try to conquer them. Youre trained to do that as an athlete. I just had to figure it out.I got promoted every year I was there -- to the point where I knew I wasnt going to get promoted again, as the people in the next tier had been there for a really long time. Some friends from work were interviewing for another company, so I also went out for a position there as well, and ended up taking a job with Bridge News. That was another real test -- do I leave the comfort of a job I already know, or do I branch out and do something new? But, I took that leap of faith, and it was good for me on so many levels. It improved my life financially, and my sense of responsibility. Overall, I think sports teaches you that you can surmount lifes hurdles if you just give it a good try.espnW: Since college, what choices have you made to set you up for where you are now?SE: I majored in broadcast journalism, because I was like, Well, I like to wriite, and I like people.dddddddddddd. I do think I was true to myself when I selected my major. And I think thats a huge part of what set me up for future success. Also, networking helped me. Overall, I think as women, we need to learn how to network a bit better. Its useful on many levels. You can even create connections for other people -- help define those synergies. It doesnt have to benefit you directly, but it loops you in, and those organic connections are what makes a difference in the long run.espnW: What was the best piece of advice you received when leaving college? SE: Take risks. You can afford to do that when youre young. You might find something you really love, that you never thought to pursue. I wish I had done that a bit more.espnW: What lessons did you take from being an athlete that have applied to your working life? SE: Youre always on a team in corporate America, so the focus on teamwork is important. In my job, we very much operate as a unit. So, that team-life doesnt go away just because youre not competing athletically. Being an athlete has taught me how to trouble shoot during those difficult moments, and figure it out. Thats something that sports truly teaches you. As you never want to let your teammates down.espnW: Professionally, what was your first failure? And what did it teach you? SE: I wish I had considered sports journalism a bit more seriously. All of the features I created in college were sports-related. But, at the time there werent a lot of high-profile women in sports-related journalism -- and I have three older brothers, so Im very comfortable in a male-dominated setting -- but I still had apprehension. So, its not an actual failure, but its something where I wish I could go back and tell younger Stephanie to go ahead and give it a try.?espnW: Did you have a strategy to keep sports/fitness in your life? SE: No, I actually didnt. Especially because I was a swimmer, and in NYC, that was not ... at all happening. Now that Im living in California, Im married with a child, my husband -- who was also collegiate swimmer, and we made sure our daughter was water-safe really early on. We swim, bike, kayak and do lots of walking as a family.espnW: Whats unique about Howard University thats helped you in your professional life? SE: Theres no place like Howard. And the generational understanding [amongst alumni] is just priceless. ?My sister went to Howard, my brother went to Howard, so HU is almost a member of the family. Howard University helped develop me into the woman I am today. There is just something special about stepping on that campus.espnW: What do you wish you knew before graduating that you know now? SE: That Id never be able to recapture that same feeling [I had at Howard]. You take it for granted when youre a student. How many times in life are you just going to be around such beautiful, smart and like-minded people?Ericka N. Goodman-Hughey is a senior editor at espnW and fellow Howard University alum. SHENZHEN, China -- Defending champion Tomas Berdych advanced to the quarterfinals of the Shenzhen Open by beating Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan 7-6 (7), 7-6 (4) Thursday. The top-seeded Czech is trying to reach his first final of the season. Also, Bernard Tomic defeated Ryan Harrison 6-4, 4-6, 7-5, Thomaz Bellucci beat Thomas Fabbiano 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4), and eighth-seeded Jiri Vesely eliminated Inigo Cervantes 7-6 (2), 6-3. The Dane followed up his first European Tour title last weekend with eight birdies and just a single dropped shot on Thursday for a one-stroke advantage over South Africas Allan Versfeld and Portugals Ricardo Santos. Fake Yeezy . -- There were so many positives from the Orlando Magics first victory of the season that it was hard for coach Jacque Vaughn to stop praising his players. INDIANAPOLIS -- Kyle Busch spent Saturday climbing in and out of brutally hot cars in Indianapolis. All that work finally got him back to a pretty cool spot in Victory Lane -- and some ice cold water. After claiming two poles Saturday afternoon, Busch returned to the track and led all but one lap to win his second straight NASCAR Xfinity Series race at the track by 0.415 seconds over hard-charging Kevin Harvick. Paul Menard was third, 1.338 seconds off the pace.Id like to hope so, the 2015 Cup season champion said after being asked if he can keep this up after earning his seventh Xfinity win this season and record-extending 83rd of his career. I dont know exactly how many [races] I have left, thats changing every day. But, hopefully, with whatever we have left, we can have the same amount of success weve had here.Busch has been virtually unbeatable on Indys 2.5-mile oval all weekend. He posted the fastest practice times in both the Xfinity and Sprint Cup Series on Friday, won the poles, captured the first of two heat races to establish the rest of the starting order and put himself in position to secure his second straight sweep of the two races in Indy.No NASCAR driver has ever won both poles and both races here. The only prize Busch didnt claim Saturday was the $100,000 dash-for-cash prize, for which he was ineligible. That payout went to fifth-place finisher Justin Allgaier, who was the best of the non-Cup regulars. Allgaier said the thermometer in his car reached 137 degrees. How dominant has Busch been? The Joe Gibbs Racing sttar held off two former Brickyard 400 winners and one, Harvick, couldnt even catch the leader after taking new tires during the final caution period, which extended the race to 63 laps.ddddddddddddThe difference: Buschs perfectly timed restarts.New tires for those guys were good for them, not so much for us, Busch said after completing the final 36 laps without a stop. On the restarts, the second-to-last one was really good. The last one was OK.It was at least good enough.Busch surrendered the lead only once -- when he pitted after 27 laps -- and retook the lead when Brendan Gaughan made his pit stop. The only other time Buschs lead was even in jeopardy occurred after rookie Roy Black Jr. hit the wall in the second turn, slid down the track and was hit by Harrison Rhodes, bringing out a caution with six laps to go.Harvick, who drives for Stewart-Haas Racing, and Kyle Larson, who drives for Chip Ganassi Racing, both stopped and changed tires. But they wound up battling each other so hard that they couldnt catch Busch. Our goal was to overachieve today, and we did that, Harvick said. We had a couple of good restarts and wound up second. Not a bad day.Even if Buschs day was much more rewarding.I think our chances are pretty good, Busch said, referring to the Brickyard 400. Starting up front means a lot here in Indy. I think our Toyota today was strong. I think our Toyota tomorrow will be even stronger. ' ' '

Club legend Phil Thompson believes it is clear that Christian Bentekes Liverpool career is over, suggesting the striker will be keen to leave in the summer. With just one goal in 16 appearances in all competitions since the turn of the year, Benteke his slipped behind Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi in the pecking order, failing to make any of Jurgen Klopps last 12 starting line-ups.The Belgium striker is currently sidelined with a knee injury picked up on international duty and Soccer Saturday pundit Thommo struggles to see him turning things around between now and the end of the season. Thommo predicts... Find out what Thommo is tipping up at 40/1 for Liverpool v Dortmund here. He told Sky Sports: You dont need to be an expert or an insider to see that Benteke will be looking to move on in the summer. Were all trying to read between the lines and I dont know anything definite but it looks like hes all but gone.I would say for the sake of his own career he needs to leave. Hes got the Euros coming up and hes going to be sat on the bench with Romelu Lukaku starting and he wont want the same to happen next season. Benteke has scored just once in 2016 He cant do the pressing game that Jurgen Klopp demands and you cant have £32.5m strikers sat on the bench playing a bit part.Danny Ings is coming back as well and hes more suited to doing what Klopp expects, so Benteke could find himself fourth in the pecking order.Thommo sees the Chinese Super League as Bentekes most likely destination, while he thinks it is unlikely that Liverpool would sell to rivals Everton, who could lose Lukaku in the summer. Bentekes next club odds Where will Benteke be playing next season? Find Sky Bets odds here. He added: Football is stranger than ever but I still think it would be highly unlikely that theyd sell to Everton. I remember back when I was youth team coach we sold Peter Beardsley to Everton and I thought it would come back to bite us, which it did.The way the Chinese market is going youd think that is the most likely source for Liverpool to recoup the fee they spent on him. Hinch said.He kept the Yankees off-balance by throwing almost as many curveballs as fastballs, but to Brian McCann it seemed like more than that.Hes got one of the better curveballs youre going to see and out of 90 pitches it seemed like he threw 89 of them, McCann said. He has a great arm and a really good curveball.Rasmus snapped an 0-for-29 skid when he sent an off-speed pitch from Masahiro Tanaka (7-3) into the seats behind the bullpen in right-center field to make it 4-0 with one out in the third. He said he hasnt felt right most of this month after getting an ear infection early in July.My ear had a little bit to do with it, kind of got me down those few days there to get my balance off and what not, he said. I was trying to play through it and suck it up. I got that kind of tamed now ... so Im hoping that can get me on a good roll and I can help this team win some ball games.Ken Giles and Luke Gregerson pitched a scoreless inning each before Will Harris got his 11th save by striking out two in the ninth.Tanaka, who entered the game with a 1.50 ERA in nine road starts, allowed seven hits and four runs in five innings for the loss. He had thrown 12 1/3 straight scoreless innings on the road before an RBI single by Carlos Gomez with one out in the first inning. He had the onee bad inning.dddddddddddd He left the (splitter) up, he left a couple pitches up that inning, manager Joe Girardi said. They made him work. He had a real easy first inning and then after that they really made him work. The one inning really did him in.Marwin Gonzalez extended his hitting streak to a career-high 11 games with a single to start the third. He advanced to second on a groundout and took third on a wild pitch. A single by Carlos Correa came next to score Gonzalez and push the lead to 2-0.Rasmus then collected his first hit since July 5, when he also homered and drove in two runs, on his 12th homer this season.McCann cut the lead to 4-1 when he led off the fourth inning with a home run to center field.Didi Gregorius singled with one out before McCullers walked Starlin Castro. But McCullers ended the threat by striking out the next two batters to end the inning.McCullers then struck out the side in the fifth to make it five in a row.McCanns homer was the highlight of the night for the Yankees, who managed just four other hits, which were all singles, and struck out a season-high 15 times.TRAINERS ROOMAstros: Houston 3B Luis Valbuena was out of the lineup after leaving Tuesdays game in the second inning with a strained right hamstring. Hinch said he was feeling better on Wednesday and was confident that he would avoid a trip to the disabled list. ... Gomez left the game before the third inning with a strained right hamstring, but said after the game that he didnt think it was serious.UP NEXTYankees: New York has a day off Thursday before opening a three-game series at Tampa Bay with Ivan Nova (7-5, 4.65) on the mound.Astros: Houston is off on Thursday before Collin McHugh (7-6, 4.18) starts in the opener of a three-game series at Detroit. McHugh allowed two runs and six hits in six innings of a win over the Angels on Saturday. ' ' '

NEW YORK -- This was exactly the kind of situation the New York Mets got Jay Bruce for -- late innings, hoping for a home run. Except now, manager Terry Collins felt as if he had no choice but to pull the All-Star slugger for a pinch hitter.Yanked for a guy who hadnt gotten a hit in the majors since May and was batting .159, at that.Collins strategy worked -- Eric Campbell delivered an RBI single in a three-run eighth -- but the Mets rally fell short Tuesday night in a 5-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves.Very difficult. First time Ive ever been pinch hit for, the badly slumping Bruce said. I always think Im the best choice ... but hes the manager and I respect his decision. He didnt need to explain that to me, he said. I obviously get how the game is played and you know what his thought process was there. I dont deserve any explanation from the manager. The Mets lost to last-place Atlanta for the second straight day. The defeat dropped them into a tie with St. Louis and San Francisco for the two NL wild cards.Bruce still ranks among the NL leaders with 29 home runs and 91 RBI, but has struggled mightily since the Mets got him on Aug. 1 from the Reds for two young players. The market, as you know, this is not Cincinnati, Collins said.Out of the starting lineup for two days as a mental break, Bruce returned and went 0 for 3, leaving him hitless in 12 at-bats and in a 3-for-38 rut.Bruce is hitting only .176 with his new team. The deal certainly hasnt turned out like the big trade last summer that brought Yoenis Cespedes, boosting the Mets into the World Series.I definitely didnt draw it up like this. Coming over here, its been tough on me. But fortunately the team has been playing really well, weve been winning games, were in a good spot when it comes to the playoff race, Bruce said.Im worried about the team, Im worried about winning games. I have plenty of time to think about myself. Right now is not that time, he said.Mets nemesis Julio Teheran pitched seven more sparkling innings and left with a 5-1 lead. After Curtis Granderson hit an RBI double and T.J. Rivera had a sacrifice fly, it was 5-3 with two outs and a runner on second in the eighth. Thats when Collins pulled Bruce and sent up Campbell to face lefty Ian Krol. Its one of the worst things you can do as a manager, to pinch hit for a star, especially one of the elite power hitters in the game. But you know, my job is to try to win the game, Collins said. In my opinion, I know hes struggling, I know hes had struggles with lefties.I think hes extremely frustrated, he added. I know I talked to him about it. ... Hes always had the ability and now he has the chances to, hey, just go out and play. And as I told him, this is a different situation here. The Braves have the worst record in the NL, yet have a four-game winning streak. They beat the Mets for the second day in a row and have won five straight at Citi Field.Teheran (6-10) gave up five hits and left with a four-run lead. Dating to the final time he saw the Mets last season, hes 3-0 with a 0.73 ERA in five starts against them.Jim Johnson pitched the ninth for his 16th save in 19 chances. He struck out Cespedes with a runner on first to end it.Robert Gsellman (2-2) lost in his fifth major league start. The rookie took a 1-0 lead into the sixth before a misplayed flyball cost him.Atlanta loaded the bases with one out and Matt Kemp lofted a catchable fly to right-center. Granderson and Bruce both backed off at the last moment and the ball fell for a single, giving Kemp his 100th RBI.Jay, obviously, being the right fielder, is waiting for me to say something on that situation. I didnt and by the time I pulled up it was too late, Granderson said.NICE GAMEMets SS Asdrubal Cabrera reached base five times -- two singles, a double and two walks -- for the fourth time in his career. He last did it in 2011 with Cleveland.TRAINERS ROOMMets: LHP Steven Matz (shoulder tightness), sidelined since Aug. 14, possibly could start Friday night at home vs. the Phillies. ... INF Wilmer Flores (wrist) got another injection Monday. Collins hopes for a speedy return.UP NEXTBraves: RHP Ryan Weber (1-1, 5.46 ERA) is set to make his second start in the majors this year.Mets: RHP Bartolo Colon (14-7, 3.14) leads the team in wins. RIO DE JANEIRO -- Weve had Super Saturday, Sensational Sunday and now Terrific Tuesday. There really shouldnt be any more alliterative names made up for days of the week when the British team do well here. The latest development was Team GB going three medals beyond its minimum target of 47 on Tuesday night to make this the nations best ever away Olympics, and it would be a lot easier to simply celebrate an outstanding Games performance that is still rolling. Why split it up? Lets just call it all Britains Brazilian brilliance; that should keep everyone happy. We said we believed this to be our most talented Team GB squad and everything we have seen to-date has proven that to be true, said British Olympic Association chief executive Bill Sweeney. With a number of them still to compete we are hopeful of creating yet more history and new heroes and heroines.A total of 10 more medals were won by Team GB on Tuesday: three golds, two silvers and four bronzes. They were won in sailing, cycling, diving, boxing and gymnastics and came in a hectic four-and-a-half hour spell. Those who added more medals to the Rio roll of honour were: Giles Scott (sailing gold), Jason Kenny and Laura Trott (both track cycling golds); Becky James (track cycling silver), Jack Laugher, Chris Mears (both diving silvers); Amy Tinkler and Nile Wilson (both gymnastics bronzes), Katy Marchant (track cycling bronze), Josh Buatsi (boxing bronze). The key question now is: how many more Britain will bring home? The top end of the target range was 79 medals, which looks extremely unlikely, but the London haul of 65 doesnt seem impossible. It would stilll be a big leap but track and field will be under pressure to deliver more podium places and sailing, diving, BMX, triathlon, taekwondo and boxing all look well placed to add to the total.ddddddddddddThe previous British record for an away Games was Beijing in 2008, when Britain brought back 47 medals, and that was one of the best hauls of any Olympics.Which all begs the next question: how has Team GB done it? Hard work and excellence are certainly major reasons but significant investment has also played a major part.UK Sport, which distributes lottery funding, has provided £350 million for Olympic and Paralympic sports for the years 2013-17, and in the previous four years it was £263m.The approach is business-like, too, with sports which fail to reach the targets set by the authority having funding cut at the end of the cycle.Swimming had its funding slashed after 2012 but has delivered, while the other leading sports here enjoyed UK Sport investment. That financial imperative will have pushed each sports governing body hard to make improvements. It may have had a motivational effect on the overall performance, bringing pressure on support staff, but it would be silly to think it was in the minds of the athletes. The reasons for success, of course, are open to debate but what is not is the medal tally. On Tuesday night, Britain were still second in the medal table, above China -- which has 51 medals -- because of a greater number of golds and silvers. And that is pretty brilliant. ' ' '

ATLANTA -- Senior forward Antonio Campbell went for game highs of 25 points and 12 rebounds Friday as Ohio University beat Georgia Tech 67-61.The Bobcats second straight win in an Atlantic Coast Conference gym came down to their big man, long balls and Ohios experience over the youngest team in the nation.Georgia Tech (2-1) led 32-27 at halftime and outrebounded Ohio 48-37 overall, but the Bobcats (3-0) made seven 3-pointers in the second half. Thats when fifth-year senior Kenny Kaminski scored all 15 of his points from beyond the arc.Fourth-year junior point guard Jaaron Simmons added 17 points and nine assists, and the Bobcats three elders combined for all 10 of their made treys.Campbell added three, same as Techs total. The 6-foot-9 reigning Mid-American Conference player of the year wasnt around when Ohio won 61-55 at Maryland in 2007, yet said, We were pretty excited to come in and play against an ACC school. Theyre big, athletic. All teams in the MAC arent like that. The Yellow Jackets -- who started two true freshmen and had four players making their third career starts -- were led by junior center Ben Lammers career-high 22 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots. He held his own one-on-one against Campbell.Ohio took a difference approach. After watching tape of Techs first two games, in which powerfully built guard Josh Okogie scored 18 points each time, Bobcats head coach Saul Phillips stationed sophomore guard Jordan Dartis on Okogie and sagged on him.Theyd made seven 3s (in the first two games), Phillips said of Tech. We tried to make sure our help was a little exaggerated ... we got guys whove played a lot together.Okogie went 2 of 13 while scoring five points, and the Jackets in the second half shot just 27.8 percent (10 of 36).After Kaminski made a pair on back-to-back possessions to give Ohio a 49-46 lead with 11:02 left in the game, Tech never led again and tied only once -- on Jacksons short jumper at the 8:11 mark. From there, the Bobcats stretched the game out.We went in talking the entire time about, `Youve got to take the 3 out, and we did a good job in the first half, said Tech coach Josh Pastner. In the second half, Kaminski got loose and hit a couple big shots that changed the complexion of the game. That was the big difference right there.BIG PICTUREOhio: The Bobcats are better when Campbell and Simmons are clicking. Simmons struggled in the first half, scoring nine points on 3-of-9 shooting with five turnovers -- mostly against 6-8 Tech swingman Abdoulaye Gueye. He made half his six shots in the second half, rang up six of his nine assists and turned the ball over just once. Theres no question that that one of the biggest narratives of this game is weve got guys that have played a lot together, Phillips said.Georgia Tech: Senior forward Quinton Stephens was 1 of 9 Friday for six points, and hes 7 of 26 in three games. Fellow senior Josh Heath, potentially the starting point guard, will sit out one more game as part of a four-game suspension for violating team rules.HOW ABOUT A DO-OVERWith Stephens offensive struggles, Pastner gave him a break in the second half. I thought he looked tired (on offense), the coach said. But he was doing a good job on Kaminski, who got hot. I regret subbing him ... that ones on me.STOCK OPTIONAt 6-9, 244 pounds, Campbell has eyes on the next level of the game, which may have eyes on him. Theres a reason NBA teams are looking at him, Phillips said. He lost 30 pounds since last year; he was chunky ... he may be a second-round prospect now with maybe some ability to slide up.UP NEXTOhio: The Bobcats will be idle for a week before playing host Nov. 25 to Tennessee Tech, which Georgia Tech beat 70-55 in the season opener.Georgia Tech: The Yellow Jackets will play the fourth of five home games to start the season Tuesday when they face Sam Houston State. TORONTO -- David Ortiz is ready to sprint through the finish line. After mostly sitting on the bench during the Boston Red Soxs three-game interleague series in San Diego earlier this week, Ortiz said he feels refreshed for a 23-game stretch run that began with Friday nights 13-3 win over Toronto and might very well lead to one final postseason appearance for him in what he says will be his final season.I feel good right now. Im feeling good, said Ortiz, who at 40 has dealt with persistent soreness in his feet and heels throughout a farewell season in which he has been historically successful. Im not going to lie -- those days in San Diego, not playing makes your body feel good. They mess with your timing a little bit, but I was swinging in the cage just now, and Im feeling good. You want to make sure you end up in first place so you dont end up playing in that one [wild-card] playoff game and can play a three-out-of-five series. On the occasion of his last regular-season trip to Toronto, Ortiz was asked a familiar question: Is he having any second thoughts about retirement at a time when hes batting .319 with 31 homers, 107 RBIs and an MLB-leading 1.030 OPS? He gave perhaps his most definitive answer yet that hes ready to step aside.Ive been so busy this year that I cant wait, Ortiz said. I have been on since day one, doing things here and there, which is fine. I really appreciate the fact that people have been showing so much love and respect for what I do. I have been super busy, and at some point you want a break. My whole focus right now is going to the playoffs.Ortiz received two custom Canada Goose jackets as a gift from the Blue Jays, who also made a far more meaningful $10,000 donation to his charitable foundation to help in the fight against pediatric cancer.
