Tournament overview Darren Sammy ended the press conference after the final saying that the young Bangladeshi players in Rajshahi Kings had learned aplenty from the senior local and overseas players. But the season was more than just a learning experience for this first-time franchise. They made the final in an inspired campaign after being bottom of the league at one stage.Sammy rallied the side like he often does for West Indies, inspiring young and old with the right mixture of poise and fun. The mock-selfie celebrations aside, Sammy was in a serious mood whenever there was a strategic break, giving out instructions. What would please Rajshahi most was how the senior players gave the team big performances, while youngsters like Mehedi Hasan and Afif Hossain played their part. Farhad Reza deserves a mention. A decade into his career, Farhad has fulfilled his promise with contributions in difficult situations.Rajshahi would be proud of giving their best in a tough campaign, but they would also rue the loss in the final, when the match was in their grip for a considerable period.High point At 43 for 7 against Rangpur Riders, Rajshahi may have thought their debut season wasnt all that it was supposed to be. But Reza and Mehedi dug deep during an unbroken 85-run stand for the eighth wicket that got them to 128. Their bowlers then bowled out Rangpur for 79.Low point Rajshahi had to win four games in a row to stay on course for the playoffs but lost their way when they were beaten by Comilla Victorians and Barisal Bulls. The second of those defeats nearly cost them a last-four finish. They couldnt chase 162, with Samit Patel the only batsman remaining in the fight with 62. Top of the class Samit Patel was Rajshahis best all-round performer, with 288 runs and 11 wickets. He was deadly against Dhaka in the league phase, and was Player of the Match on both occasions.Under-par performerUmar Akmal made only 106 runs in nine innings, often exasperating with his shot selection and at times unlucky with the umpiring. But he should have made more runs, which would have given Rajshahi stability in the middle order.Tip for 2017 Rajshahi would need a stronger top and middle order next season, especially a batsman who offers stability like Mahmudullah or Mohammad Mithun. Their bowling attack, leadership and management seem to be in place. Zack Britton Jersey . The Clippers were angry about blowing a big lead; the Kings didnt like being in that kind of hole and nearly digging themselves out only to lose. Reggie Jackson Jersey . A statement from the worlds top-ranked player says all checks "were satisfactory and showed positive evolution" regarding the injury, which contributed to his loss to Stanislas Wawrinka in the final in Melbourne. Chance Adams Yankees Jersey . Spiller left Week 3s 27-20 loss to the New York Jets with a thigh injury, but fully practiced with the team all week and expects to be ready to go on Sunday. Joe Girardi Jersey . - Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is not a fan of his teams use of the wildcat formation, saying "it makes you look like a high school offence.Did your team live up to expectations this weekend in their Premier League or FA Cup outing? Weve caught up with Sky Sports Now guest and former Arsenal and Leicester striker, Alan Smith, to grade each side based on their 90-minute performance over the weekend. So how did your team fare? Did they get an A or an F, or somewhere in between? Read on to see how each top-flight side has been ranked... Weekend results Premier League FA Cup Norwich 0-0 Man City Reading 1-2 C Palace B’mouth 3-2 Swansea Everton 2-0 Chelsea Stoke 1-2 So’ton Arsenal 1-2 Watford Aston Villa 0-2 Spurs Man Utd 1-1 West Ham Premier LeagueBournemouth - AIts three wins in a row now for the Cherries, so wonderful stuff from them. Manager Eddie Howe and his players are on 38 points now so theyre all-but safe. For a newly-promoted team to do what theyve done is great for the league.Southampton - ASouthampton were worthy winners against a Stoke side that have had a good season and are full of entertaining players. Saints should have had a penalty when Jack Butland brought down Dusan Tadic and they were unlucky to have Sadio Mane sent off. Graziano Pelle will have welcomed his goals and Shane Long looked good getting in behind the Stoke defence. Sadio Manes red card at the Britannia was harsh, according to Smith Tottenham - AExcellent. They had to absorb some pressure in the second half against Aston Villa at Villa Park, but the way Mauricio Pochettino approached the game was great. They bounced back from disappointing results against Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund in style. They were so quick and theyve clearly got the bit firmly between their teeth.Norwich - B+This was a good point for Norwich against a very good team, even though Manchester City arent firing on all cylinders. The clean sheet would have encouraged Canaries boss Alex Neil.Aston Villa - C+ Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur shoots past Alan Hutton of Aston Villa I dont want to kick a team while theyre down. It was men against boys in the first half and when Harry Kane scored Spurs could have had plenty more. Villa couldnt cope with Spurs pace and intensity but, to their credit, they kept going and should have found the net through Rudy Gestede and Joleon Lescott. Villa are virtually relegated so its not easy for them, so at least they didnt give up and showed a bit of heart.Swansea - C+Swansea pegged Bournemouth back twice at the Vitality and for that reason they deserve a C+. They didnt give up which is good for a side who arent completely out of the relegation mix - although I think theyll be fine. The managers health problems havent helped, and theyll be hoping for a couple of wins as soon as possible to take the doubt away.Stoke - C Graziano Pelle celebrates after opening the scoring You would have expected more from Stoke, particularly because they were playing at home.dddddddddddd Pelle struck twice in succession and, despite Marko Arnautovic pulling one back, Southampton were the better team. It wasnt Stokes day.Man City - DManchester City are lucky to get a D. For a team that still has an outside chance of winning the title there was no intensity, belief or urgency. It was almost as if theyd already given up on the title. They didnt cause many problems to Norwichs goal. Poor. City were poor at Carrow Road as their title charge faltered FA CupWatford - A+Watford have struggled to score recently but Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney were back to their best at the Emirates. They were brilliant and the result was a reflection of the fantastic season theyre having. Adlene Guediouras goal was wonderful and capped off a great day for the club.Everton - A Romelu Lukaku scored against his former Chelsea for the first time It was a very tight game at Goodison Park but they hung on and were better defensively where they havent been in recent games. Romelu Lukaku was on the scoresheet with a pair of stunning goals and, by all accounts, the ground was rocking. It was a fantastic win.West Ham - B+West Ham will be gutted they allowed Manchester United back into the game but theyll be confident in progressing at Upton Park. Dimitri Payets free-kick was nothing short of incredible, another stunning effort from a player vying for the Player of the Season award.Crystal Palace - B Yohan Cabayes late penalty sent Palace on their way to Wembley Palace will hope their FA Cup run can aid their Premier League form, as theyve been struggling of late. Theyre in the semi-finals and that will bring back memories for Alan Pardews playing days, thats for sure! Frazier Campbell scoring was a bonus too!Manchester United - BThis certainly wasnt Uniteds worst performance, they did quite well to come back from a goal behind. Theyve relied on Anthony Martial a lot this season and once again he delivered.Reading - B-Playing against Premier League opposition is not easy for Reading. They frustrated Crystal Palace for most of the match and couldnt quite hold out. The late red card was telling.Arsenal - C Holders Arsenal were dumped out of the FA Cup at home to Watford Arsenal werent a threat, they were flat and they conceded too many chances and openings to a Watford team that struggled to score in the build-up to the game. That was down to Arsenals shape. Theyve won the cup for the last two seasons so the fact theyre out of it isnt the big problem, it was the manner of the defeat.Chelsea - CThis was a big game for Chelsea. Diego Costas ugly side reared itself once again - the theatrics didnt help as they failed to score and he was sent off. Its turned out to be a crippling week for them following their Champions League exit and its going to be hard for Guus Hiddink to lift them for the rest of the season.Watch Sky Sports Now weekdays from 10am to 12pm, Sky Sports News HQ. NEW YORK -- Philadelphia Phillies right-handed reliever Mike Adams still feels discomfort in his pitching shoulder and might be headed for season-ending surgery. Adams has been on the disabled list since June 21 with right biceps tendinitis. Phillies trainer Scott Sheridan said Adams was examined Thursday by team medical director Dr. Michael Ciccotti and plans to see Los Angeles Dodgers doctor Neal ElAttrache before deciding on his next move. Sheridan said surgery is an option for Adams, who has been a top setup man when healthy. But he has been on the DL twice during his first season in Philadelphia, once for a strained back, after signing a $12 million, two-year contract in December. The 34-year-old Adams is 1-4 with a 3.96 ERA in 28 games. Sheridan also said Friday that left-hander Jeremy Horst (sprained left elbow) had a setback during a rehab outing for Triple-A Lehigh Valley and was examined in Florida by Dr. James Andrews, who recommended a platelet-rich plasma injection. Horst will be shut down for four to six weeks and could miss the remainder of the season. He is 0-2 with a 6.23 ERA in 28 relief appearances. Sheridan said pitcher Roy Halladay (right shoulder surgery) threw on flat ground Friday, and the session went very well. Ryan Howard has full range of motion following left knee surgery last week, and he is scheduled to have his stitches removed Tuesday. Right-hander Michael Stutes, on the DL with biceps tendinitis, received a cortisone injection and probably wont resume throwing for two to three weeks, Sheridan said. The Lynx finished all four quarters with nice run

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Now that Jeff Carter has 601 career points, its time to aim a little higher.Carter scored twice and reached a scoring milestone, Peter Budaj made 28 saves and the Los Angeles Kings beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 on Sunday night.Carter assisted on Drew Doughtys score early in the second period and then added power-play goals 71 seconds apart to make it 3-0. The first goal got him to 600 points. Its cool, Carter said. Ill shoot for 700 now.Antoine Vermette and Rickard Rakell scored for Anaheim, and John Gibson made 26 saves. The Kings dominated the first two periods, sustaining offensive pressure for long amounts of time and outshooting the Ducks 26-13. Anaheim pushed back in the third, scoring twice and generating more offense, but two lackluster periods ultimately doomed them.Usually these games are full of emotion, but we just didnt have any response, Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. Pucks were going through our sticks. We couldnt execute a complete pass. We didnt get involved physically until the third period.Anaheim pushed back late, starting when Vermette scored Anaheims goal at 3:34, deflecting a shot from Hampus Lindholm on the power play to make it 3-1.On another power play a few minutes later, Anaheims Ryan Kesler appeared to punch in the puck on a goalmouth scramble, but it was waved off. With 2 seconds left on the man advantage, Rakell banked one in from the slot to make it 3-2.We attacked with a little bit more speed, Rakell said. Just tried to get to the net and not be as sloppy as we were in the first two periods. The Ducks got a late power play but failed to capitalize and the Kings hung on for the win. They really brought it to us but we just stuck with it and played desperate hockey, Doughty said. Kind of just did whatever it took.Carter scored his first goal at the 12:21 mark of the second, finishing a tic-tac-toe sequence with linemates Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson. Just over a minute later, he caught a bouncing puck at the edge of the crease and stuck it behind Gibson.I didnt have to do a lot there, Carter said. It hit me in the chest and I think I got it before it crossed the line but it was going in.Doughty scored 2:15 into the second period when he sniped one top shelf over Gibson.Game notes The Ducks recalled D Shea Theodore from San Diego of the AHL prior to the game. Theodore was scratched. ... Ducks LW Joseph Cramarossa and D Clayton Stoner were both out with lower-body injuries. ... Kings captain Anze Kopitar missed his fifth straight game with an upper-body injury. . Carter has six points in the last three games.UP NEXTKings: Begin a three-game homestand against the New York Islanders on Wednesday night.Ducks: Host the Islanders on Tuesday night. Ed Walsh Jersey . The Dutchmans tenure got off to a poor start when referee Guido Winkmann awarded a penalty within two minutes for Niklas Starks clumsy challenge on Alexandru Maxim. Following a lopsided 5-2 loss against the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night, Paul MacLean told reporters that "theres a lack of focus, theres a lack of leadership and theres a lack of preparation" with his struggling team. That came on the heels of Bryan Murray taking the unusual step of going into the locker room at the Prudential Center and addressing the players himself. Dylan Cease Jersey . The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Lions have not announced the hiring, which was first reported by ESPN. Lombardi, the grandson of former Green Bay Hall of Fame coach Vince Lombardi, has been an offensive assistant on Sean Paytons New Orleans staff since 2007. Caleb Frare Jersey . -- Jacksonville wide receiver Cecil Shorts will likely be a game-time decision whether hell play Sunday in the Jaguars home game against the San Diego Chargers. MINNEAPOLIS -- It happens so often that most Minnesota Lynx players recognize when its coming, like the low rumble of an approaching subway train. Its the way Maya Moore and Seimone Augustus carry themselves: steely eyes, a bounce in their step, things that indicate focus and purpose. Then, at precisely the right time, they rise up and take over a game. When Moore and Augustus are rolling, like on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Sparks in Game 2 of the WNBA finals, the Lynx are practically unbeatable.Minnesota squared the series with a 79-60 victory, largely on the shoulders of Moore, who bounced back from her uneven Game 1 with 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Augustus, who scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half to fire up the sellout Target Center crowd of 12,832.There were other significant contributions, like 13 points and 15 rebounds from Sylvia Fowles, who led Minnesotas 46-32 domination of the glass. But Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve has said for years the Lynx cant lose when Augustus plays with passion and engagement. Forward Rebekkah Brunson said Moore should be included in that assessment, as well.Mone, when shes in it, shes in it. Its exciting. And when Maya knocks down the shots shes knocking down, it gives us fuel, Brunson said. Its great playing with them, because theyre intense, theyre passionate about what they do, and you always feed off that type of energy.Reeve doubted Moore slept much after the 78-76 loss in Game 1, when the Sparks held her scoreless in the first half. Moore finished with 18 points, but Alana Beards buzzer-beater stung the Lynx. There are only so many things you can do to take your mind off a loss like that, Moore said. Falling asleep was pretty hard. Fortunately, I didnt have any nightmares. But this team bounces back well. And Im a part of that. I took it upon myself today to bring more energy than I did last game.Moore hit her first basket, a pull-up jumper, less than three minutes into the game. The Lynx finished all four quarters with nice runs, and Moore was right in the middle of a 17-3 burst just before halftime. She got it started with a 3-pointer and driving layup, added another 3-pointer and then fed Lindsay Whalen for a breakaway layup. Moores energy contributed to a 39-25 halftime lead.dddddddddddd.More than anything, I think Maya wanted our team to play the way were capable of playing, and I thought she gave us a big lift with her focus and her intensity, Reeve said. She had a double-double. She got rebounds. She made some 3s. Shes really hard to guard with all the little shot fakes. She was very, very active, and I think Maya had a lot of fun today.Augustus did too, though it took Minnesotas senior player in years of service awhile to get going. The Lynx acquired veteran backup guards Anna Cruz, Renee Montgomery and Jia Perkins in large part to limit wear and tear on the 32-year-old Augustus bad knees. This season, Augustus averaged career lows of 11.2 points and 26.3 minutes per game, but she reached the postseason with reasonably healthy legs. Augustus shoots with her legs as much as her right arm. The Lynx know her as Money Mone when the shots start falling.Whalen, her teammate since 2011, saw something in the dreadlocked Augustus at the morning shootaround. Her look, Whalen said. I knew she was ready to come out and play a great game.Moore picked up on it, as well. The dreads get a-poppin, she said. The nostrils get a-flarin. She just gets that look in her eye.But Augustus remained quiet until the start of the third quarter, when she scored Minnesotas first five points -- a technical foul shot, then back-to-back jumpers -- for a 44-27 lead. The Sparks trimmed the gap to three before Moore took over again, hitting a jumper and another 3-pointer, as Minnesota took a 54-46 lead to the fourth quarter.Augustus, who quickly quelled any Sparks rally with a pair of conventional three-point plays, isnt stoic, especially when shots start dropping. And she might still be celebrating the first if Whalen hadnt hugged her.I just tried to attack more in the fourth quarter, Augustus said. Throughout the game, I tried to attack, and it just so happened to fall my way. The fans were kind of sitting on their hands a little bit, and I think that helped them get into the game. The Target Center started rocking. Once we got that run going, there was no turning back. ' ' '

The Queensland Firebirds are one win away from becoming the trans-Tasman netball leagues only back-to-back champions after reaching their fourth straight grand final in a thriller. The Firebirds booked a spot in the title decider with a nail-biting 67-64 win over New Zealand side Southern Steel in Brisbane on Sunday after trailing in the final quarter. They will host the winner of the second semi-final between Waikato-BOP Magic and the NSW Swifts to be played in Hamilton, New Zealand on Monday.Having defeated an understrength Firebirds in Round 11, the gallant Steel held the lead for long periods of Sundays clash but Queenslands class told as they pulled away in the closing minutes then hung on.There was little splitting the teams in a high-scoring contest, with Jamaican internationals Romelda Aiken and Jhaniele Fowler-Reid trading goals at either end.But a seemingly nervous performance from home team goal shooter Aiken, who finished with 57 goals from 68 attempts against Fowler-Reids 51 from 52, gave the visitors extra hope. The Steel led by three at halftime but the Firebirds were regaining a foothold due to some dynamic passing by MVP Kim Ravaillion, Caitlyn Nevins and Gretel Tippett. The Queenslanders remained patient with the ball despite facing some rugged defence and levelled the scores at 45-all three minutes before the final change.Trailing by two heading into the last quarter, the Brisbane crowd pulsated with support for their home-town heroes as the lead shifted back and forth. And the Firebirds responded, finding their best to pry open a seven-goal advantage with six minutes remaining, refusing to let go the lead thereafter.Having played in their fair share of close contests, including last seasons one-goal grand final thriller against the Swifts, Firebirds captain Laura Geitz praised her sides composure under extreme pressure. The Steel played quality netball and theyre a side who can score quickly, Geitz said.We made the most of our little opportunities and there were some scary moments there, but the self-belief amongst our playing group shows we are resilient and can go to the final whistle.Geitz wasnt about to pick a winner in the second semi-final, with the Magic having toppled the Steel last week to win the New Zealand conference title. That match will be a tight tussle and theres no doubt either side is a tough opposition to have next Sunday in the grand final, she said.Well soak up this moment and reflect on what weve achieved then on Tuesday its back to the drawing board to put ourselves in the best position to win the grand final. Cheap Diamondbacks Jerseys .Y. -- Leading 3-0 with only 11:25 left, the Colorado Avalanche committed a seemingly meaningless penalty to give the New York Islanders a power play. Merrill Kelly Jersey . The deal is pending a physical, assistant general manager Bobby Evans said. Traded from Seattle to Baltimore on Aug. 30, Morse also can play first base and right field to give manager Bruce Bochy some flexibility in writing his lineup. Brandon Webb Jersey . -- An ugly goal by Nick Bonino helped the Anaheim Ducks overcome the defensive-minded Phoenix Coyotes on a night when their ragged power play continued to struggle. The world became a strange place on Wednesday. The last thing you expected to happen came over, sat down and gave you a big fat kiss. A bit like Bugs Bunny; that wascally wabbit always comes out trumps.Rajkots events may not trouble the wider public, but from the moment the coin fell in Englands favour, India were in unfamiliar territory. At least as far as recent memory goes. Virat Kohli has been able to win seven out of seven tosses since his first match in charge at home. Only once had he chosen to field, in the rained-out draw against South Africa in Bangalore a year ago. Every other time he and his men put runs on the board and won the game. Here, Alastair Cook called heads. It came down as heads. England batted for the rest of the day. India became a set of Elmer Fudds for the rest of the day: clumsy to start with and unthreatening for large parts. The dropped catches - three in the first half-hour - should be held against them. But they cant be faulted for effort. R Ashwin did get his offbreaks to drift and dip. Ravindra Jadeja did trap the batsman in his crease. Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav did generate reverse swing. So what was missing? Why did they concede 311 runs and the first century scored by a visiting batsman since 2013?Scoreboard pressure. India had to make do without it.The Saurashtra Cricket Association was hosting its first Test. The schedule has been arranged in such a way that the fourth and fifth days fall on the weekend to encourage a large crowd to come over. So, measures were taken to avoid quick finishes or meandering run-fests, both of which are common when domestic teams play Ranji Trophy first-class matches here. The pitch was dressed up with patches of grass, and in between there were several bare patches. This led to some variable bounce, but crucially there was very little turn.So the three spinners - Ashwin, local boy Jadeja and Mishra - had almost nothing to work with.Since 2015, particularly at home, they have come on with a horde of close-in fielders. Slips, silly points, gullies, leg gullies, short legs. A veritable group of bandits ready to swindle the batsman of his confidence. Additionally, until now, India had batted first in six out of seven matches. That meant their bowlers were given a pitch which had been worn down by a lot of cricket, ranging from 68 to 169 overs. As a result, there had been a lot more turn to exploit. There could be awkward bounce as well. Then, factor in Ashwin and Jadejas talent for maximising natural variation. Thats a heck of a lot for a batsman to handle. The immediate thought in such a situation is: Why not get off strike? Thats easier saiid than done.dddddddddddd As former Test opener Aakash Chopra has articulated before, manoeuvring the ball into gaps on a turning pitch is very hard. Opening the face brings the slips into play. Closing the face invites the risk of being dismissed in any number of ways. Bowled by the dip, lbw while playing across the line. Caught off the leading edge.Okay, do something drastic then. Hit out. Upset their rhythm.Seems simple enough, yes. But theres a psychological deterrent - in the back of your mind, you always know a false shot might not only be the end of you but of your team too. In the final innings in Indore, New Zealand went from 80 for 2 to 138 for 9 after Ross Taylor was bowled playing an awful sweep. These are the devastating advantages of scoreboard pressure. And India had none of it in Rajkot. So Kohli, having to manufacture some, operated with in-out fields. With the lack of turn, though, Joe Root and Moeen Ali were able to nudge the ball into the gaps and keep the score ticking along. Their 179-run partnership included only 14 fours and a six - essentially 62 runs in boundaries - all the rest came via singles and twos. They still maintained a run-rate of 3.70.And when Kohli tried to bring men up to make the rotation of strike difficult, Root and Moeen deliberately went over the top and Indias captain had to go on the defensive again. It was beautifully paced cricket, with a distinct lack of frills. Only late in the day, when Root was past his hundred and Moeen was approaching his own, did they break into the toy cupboard and pull out the reverse sweeps or advance on Jadeja, he who fires them in at 90kph, and smack him into the sightscreen. In 62 overs of spin, India could manage only six maidens. Thats less than 10%.Having to bowl first, India wanted to be on the money, and preferably not the 500- or the 1000-rupee variety, which went defunct overnight and are to be replaced. There were encouraging signs. Cooks outside-edge was an affable guest star in a half-hour episode of When Shami And Umesh Bowl Well Together. Ashwin out-thought young Haseeb Hameed and Ben Duckett. India went to lunch happy despite the dropped catches. But it was England who were ahead of the game, with no scoreboard pressure on them, and faced with a pitch on which their own seamers could prove to be the danger, thanks to reverse swing and a bare patch of uneven bounce on a good length. Root and Moeen tucked into every over of spin that was bowled. One of them will return on Thursday hungry for more. ' ' '

BARCELONA, Spain -- Barcelona coach Luis Enrique likely thought that a match against promoted Alaves would be a good opportunity to give most of his stars the day off.The defending La Liga champions guessed wrong, as Alaves pulled off a stunning 2-1 upset at Camp Nou on Saturday. Not even Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Andres Iniesta going on for the last half hour could turn around a result that left Real Madrid alone at the top of the table after three rounds.Madrids Cristiano Ronaldo needed just six minutes to score in his first match of the season, starting a 5-2 rout of Osasuna.---BARCELONA 1, ALAVES 2It was a day of firsts at Camp Nou.Paco Alcacer and goalie Jasper Cillessen debuted for Barcelona, and Neymar saw his first minutes for the Catalan club since returning from a long summer with Brazil, which included a gold medal at the Rio Olympics.Even better for Alaves, it was a first win in Spains top flight since its 10-year run in the second and third divisions.Built around a group of journeymen brought in this summer along with new coach Mauricio Pellegrino, the modest club from the Basque Country proved to be disciplined in defense and crafty enough to get the utmost from its scarce chances. We didnt have our day, Luis Enrique said. We were imprecise, and they scored two goals on three shots. That is a good summary of the match.Barcelona appeared to be in control until Kiko Femenia crossed for Deyverson, who muscled past Javier Mascherano before poking the ball under Cillessen.Jeremy Mathieu headed Barcelona level right after halftime, only for Ibai Gomez to put Alaves back in front after a poor clearance by Mascherano. We worked very hard for this, Pellegrino said. I hope the team can keep growing and that this will help us going forward.REAL MADRID 5, OOSASUNA 2Sidelined since the Euro 2016 final won by his Portugal, Ronaldo showed no signs of lingering effects of the left-knee injury on his season debut.dddddddddddd.Not that Osasuna posed much of a test.A long ball for Gareth Bale left him and Ronaldo all alone to complete an easy breakaway.I feel fine physically, Ronaldo said. The truth is that after a serious injury there are certain actions that you are a little scared to do, but that is normal.Madrid got goals from defenders Danilo, Sergio Ramos and Pepe before Luka Modric made it five. Oriol Riera and David Garcia pulled two back for Osasuna.CELTA VIGO 0, ATLETICO MADRID 4After Atletico Madrids second draw to start the season two weeks ago, Antoine Griezmann questioned his teams will to fight for the league title. The France forward apologized to his teammates on Saturday both in word and deed, leading by example by scoring two goals to help earn a much-needed 4-0 victory at Celta Vigo.I had to play a match like that, Griezmann said. I am very happy with the team, for our effort. I want to say I am sorry for what I said (after the Leganes draw) because I shouldnt have said it in public.SEVILLA 2, LAS PALMAS 1Las Palmas was on the verge of maintaining its league lead until the clock struck 89 minutes at Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.Thats when Pedro Bigas was whistled for a questionable penalty, allowing Pablo Sarabia to cancel out Pedro Tana Dominguezs early goal from the spot. With Bigas sent off for his second yellow card, Sevilla scored on the last kick of the match when Carlos Fernandez scrambled home a corner.Villarreal also won 2-0 at Malaga for its first victory of the season. PETERSBURG, Alaska -- It wasnt a record breaker, but it was still a helluva halibut.Petersburg radio station KFSK reports (http://bit.ly/2b8JfBE) that fishermen Brian Mattson and Doug Corl hauled in the catch of a lifetime Sunday with a 396-pound halibut in southeast Alaska. The fish was nearly 8 feet long. They used a winch to bring the fish up onto their vessel, the Day Spring, and Mattson says it just kept coming and coming, and then we knew it was big.A large crowd came down to the dock to see the fish when they delivered the halibut for processing at Petersburg Fisheries Inc. One of the greatest regional rivalries in Super Smash Bros. Melee has reached a fever pitch, and it will all go down this Saturday at Blood for Blood in San Francisco, California.Since the earliest days of competitive Melee, Southern California and Northern California have been at each others throats. California is by far the most developed region, with more top players coming out of the state than any other part of the world. And after what has been a bitter back-and-forth, each side will be giving it their all this weekend for pride and bragging rights. But the rivalry goes much deeper, and to get a better understanding, ESPN reached out to tournament organizer Arian Blur Fathieh of Twitch to get a history lesson in California Smash. For years, SoCal had been the dominant region within California Melee. Every time NorCal would come down to play at a regional or major SoCal event, theyd lose in dramatic fashion, said Blur. But over the years, as the rivalry developed, NorCal players started turning the tides. With the rise of PewFat [Counter Logic Gamings Kevin PewPewU Toy and Zachary SFAT Cordoni], that dynamic has slowly shifted, he continued. It was at Super Smash Sundays last year in Azusa, California that, according to Blur, NorCal was able to come down to SoCal and not only take the entire event, but have both their players in Grand Finals, taunting on Fountain of Dreams. The disrespect was too much for Blur and the rest of the SoCal crew. SoCal decided to host a special edition of their premier local series, SSS [Super Smash Sundays], in NorCal, in an attempt to redeem themselves with a win on NorCal soil, said Blur.As for the tournament itself, none of the top five players in Melee -- the five gods -- will be in attendance. Its not too surprising, as only one of the top five is from California. But the tournament will still be stacked with premier talent.Going in, the top ranked player will be G2s Weston Westballz Dennis, the highly technical Falco main from SoCal. Hes had a strong year so far, with many top-ten placings, but hasnt been able to sink a first place finish at a major yet. His most immediate competition from NorCal will be Winterfoxs DaJuan Shroomed McDaniel, who has beaten him in two out of two sets so far this year. Some fan favorite players will also be competing, like SoCal players Joey Lucky Aldama of Selfless Gaming and Johnny S2J Kim of Tempo Storm.Only one top player outside of California will be flying in and hoping to throw a wrench in the SoCal/NorCal rivalry. Ryan The Moon Coker-Welch, the number-one ranked player from New York, has been jumping the ranks recently. After a nailbiter of a set against Cloud9s Joseph Mang0 Marquez at The Big House 6 last weekend, The Moon has proven that he should not be slept on.In doubles, SoCal will have an achilles heel in facing CLGs Fox/Marth duo PewFat. The pair has been playing Melee together since middle school, and has proven time and time again that synergy is just as if not more essential than raw talent when playing two versus two.Considering Blood for Blood is hosted by SoCal, even on NorCal turf, it really is SoCals tournament to lose. But after such an embarrassing loss suffered last year, the pressure will be on to strike a powerful answering blow. Nike Shoes Sale . Bradwell was scheduled to become a free agent Tuesday. KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Josh Jackson has been huddling with the Kansas coaching staff since the start of the season, and the message has been the same: If you quit fouling so much, you would say on the floor more. The sensational freshman must have finally listened.Jackson poured in 22 points, many of them on highlight-worthy dunks, while backcourt mates Frank Mason III and Devonte Graham helped carry the load as fifth-ranked Kansas routed Alabama-Birmingham 83-63 on Monday night in the semifinals of the CBE Classic.Me committing silly fouls take me out of the game, and dont allow me to play as much as Id like, said Jackson, who also had seven rebounds and three assists. It worked out today.Mason finished with 20 points and Graham had 16 for the Jayhawks (3-1), who advanced to play Georgia for the title on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs beat George Washington 81-73 in the other semifinal.Kansas raced to a big early lead, weathered several runs by UAB, then relied on their backcourt of Jackson, Mason and Graham to pull away from the Blazers down the stretch.Theyre very good. Theyre obviously one of the best teams in the country, UAB coach Robert Ehsan said. When they shoot it like that, theyre very hard to beat.Dirk Williams led the Blazers (2-2) with 13 points. Tyler Madison had 12.The Blazers got off to what looked like it would be a catastrophic start, turning the ball over seven times and missing their first 11 field-goal attempts. Their only points over the first 10 minutes came on foul shots, and by the time they finally hit the Jayhawks led 23-3.They started off really shooting it bad, and we defended pretty well, Kansas coach Bill Self said, but I didnt think our defense was very good the last 30 minutes. I thought it was average at best. The Blazers took advantage with a run of their own. They ripped off a 17-2 run over the next 6 minutes as the Jayhawks missed seven straight shots of their own, and they quieted a partisan crowd by getting within 27-20 late in the half.If that didnt make Self irate, the way Kansas ended it did. Graham hit a 3-pointer with 5 seconds to go, but UAB went coast-to-coast for a buzzer-beating basket to deflate the Jayhawks.dddddddddddd.We were exciting going into halftime, Ehsan said. I thought if we could make a run in the second half, we would have a shot. But theyre Kansas for a reason. The teams resumed trading runs early in the second half before the Jayhawks began pulling, and four 3-pointers by Svi Mykhailiuk -- who finished with 15 points -- helped put the game out of reach. We played really well. I think everybodys mind was right, Graham said. We came in focused, just trying to do the little things weve been watching on film that we hadnt been doing well.Jackson added an exclamation mark with just over four minutes left, taking a pass in the open floor and throwing down a windmill dunk while getting fouled for a three-point play.Hes an extremely talented player. His versatility is what Ive been surprised with, how many things he can do on the floor, Ehsan said. Hes a tremendous player.CHARITY STRIPESelf was plenty unhappy with the foul line at both ends of the floor. Kansas sent UAB there 26 times while going just 9 of 19 at its own end. We have to figure out a way to get to the free-throw line, he said, and when we do, itd be nice when we made some every now and then. Were putting people on the line too much and giving people too many free points.BIG PICTUREUAB showed some moxie in rallying from its big early hole, even the Jayhawks never led by fewer than five the rest of the way. It had to be encouraging for first-year coach Robert Ehsan, who is trying to get the Blazers back into the NCAA Tournament this year.Kansas looked tired at times from a brutal start to the season. The Jayhawks played Indiana in Hawaii, Duke in New York and Siena at home on Friday night. The grind continues with the CBE Classic title game before another home game against UNC-Asheville on Friday night.UP NEXTUAB plays in the consolation game Tuesday night.Kansas plays the Bulldogs for the tournament ' ' '

Erstellt 24.11.2019 15:51 von MJL456 24.11.2019 15:51 In der Kategorie Allgemein.

New Zealand were pleasantly surprised to find some help for their quicks in the pitch at Eden Gardens, fast bowler Matt Henry has said. Henry took three wickets on a day New Zealand kept India to 239 for 7. This could still be a big total given Indias spinners and the absence of Kane Williamson, but it was overall quite a satisfactory day for New Zealand considering they had lost the toss.It was a fair wicket, Henry said. Obviously, coming over here you probably dont expect conditions like that at the start of the day so we knew we had to make the most of that, especially being put in with the ball. It was always going to be tough work through that middle period when it would become a good surface. We had to find ways to put pressure on when we werent taking wickets and as a bowling group that is a box we ticked today. Before they put that pressure through dry bowling, though, New Zealand had to make sure they used the pitch that would have sweated in the preceding days because of the overcast skies and the covers on it. We knew it was important with the new ball to take advantage of it because the wicket had been under covers for a long time so that was going to be a crucial part of the game, Henry said. The way we went about our work today was outstanding. We knew we had to make sure we controlled the run rate because it is very tough in these conditions to take wickets.Moving forward from there it was just important to maintain those [bowling] partnerships through the middle and make sure we could create pressure by building dots. Our spinners were outstanding today. Jeets [Jeetan Patel] and Sat [Mitchell Santner] were fantastic in allowing us to build a lot of pressure, and that manifested to what happened at the end of the day.Patel was in England last week, not even dreaming of playing for New Zealand when an injury to Mark Craig resulted in a call-up. Henry, who hardly ever bowls badly, is not a regular in the New Zealand XI because of the surplus pace resources. He, too, was not part of the original squad, but came in only thanks to an injury to Tim Southee. For such players, keeping themselves fit and prepared is a big challenge, but New Zealand players have shown they are always prepared. I knew I had to make sure I did all my preparation, Henry said. Ive still being doing a lot of training and work behind the scenes. Even not being able to play in South Africa, I was still doing a lot of work with the coaches in the nets and making sure I was ready to go if needed. We had a few warm-up games out at Lincoln, some winter training squad one-dayers to keep the loads up.It is easier said than done, though, to retain the sunny attitude when you know your chances are not as frequent as you want them to be. Its never easy but it is one of those things that we have such a strong bowling group, Henry said. It is a good position for us to be in, you just always have to prepare to play and focus on what the team needs and what your role is going to be so if you do get called in you can do what we need to get done.Henry was full of praise for Patel too, who took the wickets of a set Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma. It is a tough ask coming in from England and only having a couple of days to prepare, Henry said. Hes obviously got a lot of experience. He brought a lot of energy in the field and experience and confidence. I thought the way he played today was exceptional, the way both spinners played in tandem. They showed a lot of control and created pressure through those tough periods where it was really hot and important we could control that run rate because we had to keep that squeeze on.While Rahane felt this was a two-paced pitch and that 300 was a good score on it especially considering a Williamson-less New Zealand might have to bat last. Henry said his batsmen were capable of taking the game deep, just as the bowlers did. We have a great batting line-up and obviously it is a shame not to have Kane there but I know our batsmen will [apply themselves], he said. It is going to be a tough day with the heat and things like that. We just have to keep playing the long game and apply it as best we can. NCAA Jerseys . The reactions to Lane Kiffin accepting Florida Atlantics coaching job Monday ranged from ridicule to surprise to amusement.?Its not often than a man who led two college football bluebloods (USC and Tennessee) and a storied NFL franchise (the Oakland Raiders), and who occupies one of the premier coordinator positions in the college game at Alabama, would take a job at a program that didnt exist before 2001. Why would Kiffin, who at 41 still has plenty of time to reach his coaching goals, drop down so far just to run his own show again?Heres a look at why Lane Kiffin is headed to FAU, and why he needed to make this move right now. Another day, another story about Ross Brawns imminent F1 return doing the rounds. But this particular version of the Brawn comeback epic comes with additional weight, as the source material is Brawn himself, via an interview with the Daily Telegraph.[Being nominated as a possible future sporting or technical chief] was nice to hear from Christian [Horner], Brawn told the British newspaper. Thats how I like to be involved in the sport.I would never go back to a team. I did everything I can in a team, but I would be repeating myself. For sure, trying to help F1 in the future become a better F1 would be appealing. It would be the one thing that could be interesting. If you ask me what F1 needs, it needs a plan; a three-year and a five-year plan. My view is we havent got the ideal for creating that plan and implementing it over time.Whether or not Brawn decides to make a return to the sport that made him his fortune remains to be seen. But what is particularly interesting to note is that Brawn is -- allegedly -- being considered for a technical role by the sports incoming owners, Liberty Media. As things currently stand, sporting and technical regulations -- and the associated oversight --- are the responsibility of the FIA, the regulators and rulemakers of Formula One (and of a host of other motor sports besides). The FIA have a small stake in the F1 operating company, but there has been no suggestion from the Federation that they are expecting to hand over any of their regulatory powers when the sport changes ownership over the coming months. In fact, the FIA has been beefing up its technical department in recent years. F1 technical delegate Jo Bauer boosted the size of his team in line with the regulatory changes seen in 2014, with new staffers assigned to ensure that fuel flows were within the mandated limits, while the additional number of components to be scrutineered once engines were replaced with multi-part power units also required extra pairs of hands to ensure that scrutineering could continue to take place in a timely fashion. The FIAs technical staff also includes specialist softwarre analysts, who -- among other things -- ensure that the standard ECUs are operating within prescribed limits, and that any engine mapping is not found to be in contravention of the rules.dddddddddddd.Also on the technical side, the forthcoming departure of Herbie Blash and the eventual retirement of Charlie Whiting has seen the FIA actively recruit experienced technical staff to work in or alongside race control to ensure that future handovers of power happen as smoothly as possible. The first such handover will see FIA Safety Delegate Laurent Mekies -- formerly chief engineer at Scuderia Toro Rosso -- take over the role of F1 deputy race director from the retiring Blash at the end of this year. But if suggestions that Brawn is to return to the F1 paddock as some sort of technical lead under the new ownership prove to be correct, it implies a seismic change in the way that the sport will be structured looking forwards. In recent years, we have seen FOM control the commercial aspect of the sport, negotiating deals with incoming circuits, providing the world broadcasting feed (and thereby shaping the narrative of each season), and securing global sponsors for Formula One. The commercial rights holder has as much input as any other stakeholder when it comes to rubber-stamping incoming regulations, but at no point has FOM had -- or needed! -- a technical chief with Brawns level of expertise or experience.Liberty Media have made no attempt to disguise their aims to turn F1 into a leaner, meaner, more profitable beast, but so far the discussion has centred on a centralised and global marketing strategy, of embracing new markets and finding different ways of ensuring that Formula One remains a profitable investment for many years to come. That Ross Brawns potential return as tech chief is being made in association with Liberty, and not with the actual regulator of the sport, suggests that there is much more in Libertys philosophy than has been dreamt of in this paddock. ATLANTA -- Matt Ryan had little to show for his two possessions -- no completions, no first downs and no fun.At least he could then enjoy watching Matt Schaubs successful homecoming.Making a successful return to his first NFL home, Schaub passed for 179 yards, leading three scoring drives, and the Atlanta Falcons beat the Washington Redskins 23-17 on Thursday night. It was good to be back in the Georgia Dome, Schaub said.Schaub began his career with the Falcons as Michael Vicks backup from 2004-06. He played seven seasons as Houstons starter and the past two years with Baltimore and Oakland.Schaub, 35, played most of the first half and solidified his status as Ryans top backup. After Ryan was 0 for 4, Schaub moved the offense by finding Aldrick Robinson for long passes of 47 and 68 yards. The two also were together last season in Baltimores camp.I worked with him a lot last year, Schaub said. So I kind of just picked up where we left off.Schaub completed 10 of 15 passes for 179 yards, giving Atlanta a 13-3 halftime lead.Falcons rookie J.D. McKissic returned a kickoff 101 yards for a touchdown to open the second half.Redskins starter Kirk Cousins completed each of his five passes for 39 yards on his only possession.Good first step, as preseason game number one ought to be, Cousins said.Colt McCoy played the remainder of the first half, completing 7 of 11 passes for 53 yards. McCoy led Washington to its only scoring drive of the half, a 41-yard field goal by Dustin Hopkins.Atlanta led 23-3 before rookie quarterback Nate Sudfeld led Washington on two touchdown drives. The 6-foot-6 Sudfeld completed 10 of 15 passes for 89 yards, including a 6-yard scoring pass to tight end Marcel Jensen.ROOKIE WATCHRedskins: RB Keith Marshall, a seventh-round pick from Georgia, had two catches for 10 yards, but lost 2 yards on three carries. It was a great experience, Marshall said. Ive been dreaming about it since I was a little kid. ... I feel like Ive had a great camp so far.Undrafted rookie RB Robert Kelley from Tulane possibly gained ground in the competition for a backup spot. He had seven carries for 40 yards, including a 1-yard scoring run in the third quarter.Falcons: McKissic could use special teams to help him earn a roster spot at receiver. He had a 14-yard punt return in the fourth quarter after his big kickoff return. ... LBs Deion Jones and DeVondre Campbell had a deflection and big stop, respectively, on the same second-quarter possession. ... RB Brandon Wilds had nine carries for 25 yards, including a 1-yard scoring run.INJURY UPDATERedskins: Among players held out were TE Jordan Reed (thumb), WR Jamison Crowder (hamstring), WR Reggie Diggs (knee), and LT Trent Williams (sore knee).Falcons: S Kemal Ishmael left with a shoulder injury, but is expected to be back for Sundays practice. ... Rookie S Keanu Neal (trunk), TE Levine Toilolo (hand) and RB Terron Ward (ankle) were held out, but are expected to participate in some fashion in Sundays practice, according to coach Dan Quinn.POSITION BATTLESRedskins: It was difficult to learn much about the depth chart at running back. Matt Jones, Chris Thompson and Marshall combined for no yards on eight carries. Jones had only two carries, and his status as the starter is firm.Falcons: There was evidence of why coach Dan Quinn lists wide receiver as one of the teams deepest positions. With Julio Jones having no catches on his only series on the field, there were 15 completions to 10 players. Robinson was the standout with three catches for 118 yards. Mohamed Sanu had two catches for 18 yards. Eric Weems had a 48-yard catch. Justin Hardy and rookie Devin Fuller had 17-yard receptions.NO ROOM FOR RYANThe Falcons opened their first possession at their 1. Ryan was low on one pass attempt to Jones and high on another on the three-and-out possession.Weve got to do a better job of being able to punch that out and change the field position, Ryan said.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL Salvador Perez Jersey . There are some early surprises in the race for the Hart Trophy, but two of the contenders are the leagues biggest stars over the past decade. There are many more players in contention for the awards than just the three that Ive named, and a good or bad week can easily alter the landscape, but through the first 20 or so games of the NHL season, this is how the awards races look to me. LOUIS -- Heading into the final stretch of the season, the issues for the Chicago Bears banged-up defence only seem to be getting worse. https://www.cheaproyals.com/637a-ryan-ohearn-jersey-royals.html . The next step is a better finish. Bae played bogey-free Friday on another gorgeous day at Riviera for a 5-under 66, giving him a one-shot lead over Aaron Baddeley and Robert Garrigus going into the weekend. Mike Macfarlane Jersey . Note: The Calgary Flames announced Tuesday that Sean Monahan would not be made available to Canadas World Junior team. Dawn of the third day in Los Angeles would see the first teams pack their bags at The Summit 6, as two elimination matches put three qualifiers and an International runner-up on their last legs. Meanwhile, the European squads of Virtus.pro and OG met in the upper bracket finals to determine who would secure the first spot in the grand finals. In the first series, EHOME and Team NP played to stay alive in the lower bracket after tough losses on Day 1. The North American NP started out strong, with the team finding early kills on Zhang LaNm Zhichengs Undying. Though EHOMEs cores farmed hard to keep up with NP, the kills never went the right way for the Chinese qualifier squad. Team NP closed the game out in 29 minutes at a 22-3 kill differential.EHOME, on its potential last match of The Summit 6, went to tried-and-true picks like Wang old chicken Zhiyongs Juggernaut and Ren eLeVeN Yangweis Sand King. Though some early deaths on NPs supports kept EHOME at an even pace, Rens Sand King died too frequently and so EHOME struggled to take fights in the mid-game. The net worth graph spiked in NPs directions after a few teamfight victories, and it never swung back. Team NP eliminated EHOME from The Summit 2-0, and continue on to face EG.Digital Chaos, the runner-up from Augusts The International 6, found itself in the lower bracket against Team Faceless, an intimidating lineup to say the least. DC looked confident, though, last-picking a Meepo for Aliwi w33 Omar that paid off in spades. In a 19-minute slaughter, DC set record pace, with Omar farming faster than Anucha Jabz Jirawongs Alchemist and consistently finding kills. DC quickly took the series lead 1-0 and put Faceless on tournament point. The Southeast Asian squad fought back in Game 2, taking the game late and holding back Roman Resolut1on Fominoks Ursa. HHolding a net worth advantage for most of the game, DC tried to hold the high ground against the never-ending onslaught of Faceless, but a crucial series of deaths at 45 minutes in spelled the end and set up Game 3.dddddddddddd On elimination point, both teams decided on comfort picks; Omar on his Invoker, Dominik Black^ Reitmeier on Anti-Mage. It was David MoonMeander Tan, with a number of clutch Chronospheres on Faceless Void, who secured the mid-game for Digital Chaos and kept the team alive in the tournament, winning the series 2-1.In the winners bracket finals, the two European teams clashed to see which team would earn the first spot in the grand finals. OG opened Game 1 strong, with the combination of Gustav s4 Magnussons Batrider and Jesse JerAx Vainikkas Pudge, creating huge problems for VPs lineup. At 11 minutes in and a 15-3 kill differential in favor of OG, VP forfeited and got ready for the next match.Game 2 was another quick contest, this time in favor of Virtus.pro. Magnusson struggled in the offlane against Roman RAMZES666 Kushnarevs Bloodseeker, and a last-pick Chen for Ilya Lil Ilyuk took OG by surprise, as their draft was unable to contest the march of jungle creeps. VP secured the win in 24 minutes and took the series to Game 3.On match point, a four-role Weaver pick for Ilyuk earned VP an early lead against OG, but the combo of Magnussons Bat and Vainikkas Earth Spirit turned a few fights to OGs advantage. The cores of OG struggled to keep pace with Kushnarevs Drow though, and an Aghanims Scepter pickup for Ilyuks Weaver made it nearly impossible for OG to find kills or Lassos. Virtus.pro closed the series out 2-1, and secured a spot in the grand finals. ' ' '
