ROME -- Real Madrid castoff Jose Maria Callejon scored in the first half and Belgium international Dries Mertens added a late goal as Napoli handed Serie A leader Juventus only its second loss of the season with a 2-0 victory Sunday. Still, Juventus has an 11-point lead over second-place Roma and is 17 points ahead of Napoli with seven rounds remaining. In the 37th minute at the San Paolo stadium, Callejon beat Juve midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah to redirect a cross from Lorenzo Insigne from the edge of the box for his 12th goal since transferring from Madrid in the off-season. Mertens sealed the result after collecting a long pass from Goran Pandev in the 81st and muscling off Claudio Marchisio before beating goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon with a long bouncing shot. Napoli is still hoping to edge Roma for second place and gain the last direct Champions League berth. "This is a very important win, because it keeps us close to Roma," Insigne said. "Were going to fight until the end." Juventus, which was without suspended Serie A scoring leader Carlos Tevez, struggled to create chances. The Turin powers only other loss was a 4-2 defeat at Fiorentina in October. Earlier, Mattia Destros early goal was key and Roma was fortunate when a penalty kick for relegation-threatened Sassuolo was waved off in a 2-0 win. Roma faces Parma on Wednesday in the resumption of a match from February that was stopped after eight minutes due to a waterlogged pitch. "No other squads will be playing," Roma coach Rudi Garcia said. "Weve got to take advantage of that." Elsewhere Sunday, fourth-place Fiorentina was held to a 0-0 draw at Sampdoria. Fiorentina winger Juan Vargas banged a free kick off the corner of the goal frame in the 78th and Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic was sent off for protesting in the final minutes, grabbing an officials arm as he walked off the pitch. Parma remained one point behind Inter Milan in the race for fifth and the final Europa League berth after a 3-2 loss at Lazio. Antonio Candreva scored the winner for Lazio in added time of a match marked by poor defending on both sides. After Lazios Senad Lulic and Parmas Jonathan Biabiany traded goals in the first half, Miroslav Klose restored Lazios lead in the 67th and then Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti let the ball trickle in between his legs in the 81st for an own goal. Luca Toni scored twice after Marco Donadels opener in Hellas Veronas 3-0 win over Genoa and Alessio Cerci set up one goal for Omar El Kaddouri and scored another in Torinos 2-1 win over Cagliari. In Naples, only Buffon kept the hosts from scoring early on. Buffon stopped a close-range attempt from Callejon seven minutes in, Hamsik had a goal annulled for offside seconds later and Buffon tipped an attempt from Hamsik over the bar in the 10th. Buffon also blocked a powerful effort from Callejon in the 29th then stopped a dangerous free kick from Algeria fullback Faouzi Ghoulam in the 58th. Napoli was helped by vocal crowd support. "As always, the fans gave us a big hand," Insigne said. In Reggio Emilia, Destro had an easy time finding the target from the centre of the area in the 16th after getting set up by Belgium midfielder Radja Nainggolan, who stripped the ball from a defender just outside the area. Competing for a spot on Italys World Cup squad, it was the fourth consecutive match in which Destro scored, and it was his 10th goal since beginning his injury-delayed season in December. Sassuolo thought it had a chance to equalize in the 35th when referee Nicola Rizzoli -- Italys World Cup representative -- appeared to change his mind several times before denying the hosts a penalty for minor contact between Roma defender Mehdi Benatia and Nicola Sansone. Roma substitute Michel Bastos sealed the victory with a goal six minutes into added time after getting set up by Romas 37-year-old captain Francesco Totti, who replaced Destro in the 79th. Playing its first season in the top division, Sassuolo remained one point above last-place Catania, which visits Udinese on Monday. Matt Cullen Wild Jersey . Hugo Palmer believes he has Galileo Gold at the peak of his powers for Saturdays mouthwatering Qipco Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot. The 2000 Guineas and St Jamess Palace Stakes winner is due to clash with Ribchester and Awtaad, who have verdicts over him in France and Ireland respectively, as well as one of Aidan OBriens top-class fillies Minding or Alice Springs.Newmarket-based Palmer feels his stable star has excuses for his defeats this season and that the break of two months since his run in the Prix Jacques le Marois will have done him the power of good. His French reverse came just 18 days after a narrow defeat to The Gurkha, who has subsequently been retired.Im really confident hes going to go to Ascot at the peak of his powers, Palmer told the Guardian.Quite simply, we didnt have the time between races to get the work into him to settle him down.He had the luxury of his own private jet to Deauville. Part of me just wonders whether, if wed treated him a bit more normally, the edge might have been taken off him by the journey. He just was too fresh and he over-raced.Hes raced 10 times in his life; the first time he ran, he pulled his chance away and the last time he ran, he pulled his chance away, but every other time hes been perfect. So I hope we can go back to whats happened on the other eight times.Palmer will also be represented by dual Oaks runner-up Architecture in the Qipco Fillies & Mares Stakes and feels she has been underestimated by the bookmakers, who make her a 20-1 chance. She hasnt done a lot wrong all year. There was that glorious moment when we thought wed won the Oaks. And there was a much shorter but equally glorious moment when I thought shed won the Irish Oaks, he said.By the looks of the betting, shes got to take on the filly that beat her both at Lingfield and at the Curragh (Seventh Heaven). But theres no easy Group Ones and the same applies for that horse as it does for mine. It was the same way he used to do it in his backyard as a boy, pretending to lead his beloved Browns to victory. On Sunday, he became a hometown hero for real. Hoyer, the local kid who grew up dreaming of one day being Clevelands quarterback, threw two touchdown passes in his first start at home to lead the revived Browns to a 17-6 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Hoyer tossed a 1-yard TD pass to Chris Ogbonnaya with 4:54 left to give the Browns (2-2) an 11-point lead before Cleveland turned it over to its vastly improved defence to put the Bengals (2-2) away. Before the ball even dropped into Ogbonnayas hands, Hoyer took off running toward Clevelands helmet logo at the 50-yard-line with his index finger extended in the air. Once he neared mid-field, Hoyer stopped and pumped his fist in celebration as he did years ago after throwing a TD while playing with his brother and friends behind his familys home in North Olmsted, Ohio. "Its awesome," Hoyer. "Its cool to play in front of the hometown crowd in this stadium, where I grew up 15 minutes away from and obviously its a good day because the Tribe is winning, too." Not long after the Browns knocked off one of their division rivals, the Indians clinched a playoff spot for the first time since 2007. Suddenly, Clevelands beleaguered sports teams are winning. In his second start in place of injured Brandon Weeden, Hoyer finished 25 of 38 for 269 yards and no interceptions. He threw a 2-yard TD pass in the first half to tight end Jordan Cameron, who had 10 catches for 91 yards. But for the second week in a row, he came through in the clutch. Last week, Hoyer threw a 7-yard TD pass to Cameron with 51 seconds left as the Browns rallied to stun the Minnesota Vikings. "Certainly hes been the spark that I had hoped for and has led us to two games -- winning two games," said first-year coach Rob Chudzinski, who also spent his childhood pulling for the Browns. The Bengals (2-2) couldnt get anything going on offence and quarterback Andy Dalton was intercepted by Buster Skrine with 3:43 left, ending any chance of a Cincinnati comeback. Cleveland limited the Bengals to 63 yards rushing and cornerback Joe Haden contained wide receiver A.J. Green. "We didnt make enough plays," said Dalton, who finished 23 of 42 for 206 yards. "I didnt play well enough. I expect better out of the offence. To not score a touchdown, weve got too good of players and too good of a team not to do that. We have all the ability in the world on this team and we didnt get it done." Hoyer began the season as Clevelands No. 3 quarterback. But after Weeden sprained his right thumb, Chudzinski tabbed Hoyer as his starteer.dddddddddddd Last week, Hoyer threw three touchdowns and three picks in the win at Minnesota. And although Weeden began throwing this week, hes not well enough to play. Now, he could be relegated to watching Hoyer for the rest of the season. Chudzinski would not commit to Hoyer starting on Thursday against Buffalo, but it would be stunning for there to be any other choice. "Im still going to go through the same process," Chudzinski said. "Were going to go in and evaluate the tape. I thought he (Hoyer) did a great job, particularly managing some of the things early. I think guys settled in, he settled in, made some great decisions and throws and made big plays." Clinging to a 10-6 lead, Hoyer drove the Browns 91 yards in 12 plays for the clinching score. Hoyer showed gorgeous touch on a 31-yard pass to Cameron to put the Browns at the Cincinnati 24. Willis McGahee, who promised a "dramatic" improvement in Clevelands running game this week, carried three times to the 1 and Hoyer took it from there, throwing his TD to Ogbonnaya. Even before Ogbonnaya crossed the goal line, Hoyer was overcome with emotion. "I was just telling Obie, by the time you caught it, I was at the 40," Hoyer said, smiling. "Its just good because you know youre capping off that long drive with a touchdown and thats what you need to win games." The Bengals were out of rhythm from the start on both sides of the ball. Cincinnati was missing two starters in its secondary -- cornerback Leon Hall and safety Reggie Nelson -- because of injury and the Bengals offence sputtered for all 60 minutes. Mike Nugents two field goals were all the Bengals could muster against Clevelands swarming defence. Green had seven catches for 51 mostly meaningless yards as Haden blanketed him all afternoon. It was a discouraging loss for the Bengals, who overcame four turnovers last week to beat Green Bay and wasted a chance to take early control in the AFC North. "It wasnt lack of effort," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. "Today we didnt play well enough to win. Its part of what weve got to do. Weve got to keep growing and win." NOTES: Hoyer is the first Browns quarterback to win his first two starts since Mark Rypien in 1994. ... PITTSBURGH -- Johnny Cueto tossed his second three-hitter against the Pittsburgh in a week and the Cincinnati Reds eased past the struggling Pirates 4-1 on Tuesday night. Cueto (2-2) struck out four and walked three while running his career-long scoreless streak to 21 innings before giving up a home run to Andrew McCutchen with one out in the ninth. He improved to 15-4 in his career against the Pirates and became the first Cincinnati pitcher to toss consecutive complete games since Mat Latos did it in June 2012. Brayan Pena and Zack Cozart had consecutive RBI hits off Edinson Volquez (1-1) in the seventh to provide all the offence Cueto needed. Volquez allowed two runs and five hits with a walk and three strikeouts. The scene wasnt nearly as electric as Cuetos previous appearance at PNC Park, when the Cincinnati ace was pushed around early in a 6-2 loss in the National League wild-card game. At one point Cueto dropped the ball while standing on the mound then immediately gave up a home run to Russell Martin as the standing room-only crowd lustily chanted the pitchers last name. He lasted just 4 1-3 innings that night as the Pirates won their first post-season game in 21 years. Six months later, the chants would be half-hearted at best. Cueto never lost his grip on the ball, or the game. Working quickly against a team he has dominated throughout his seven-year career, Cueto needed 117 pitches to get 27 outs and nearly became the first Cincinnati pitcher to post back-to-back shutouts since Hall of Famer Tom Seaver did it in 1977 before McCutchens home run into the second row of seats in right field in the ninth. The Reds have won 6 of 9 after stumbling out of the gate while the Pirates have dropped 9 of 12. Cueto upped his record to 9-2 at PNC Park, where the Pirates appear to be no closer to solving him now than they were when they first faced him in 2009. Volquez, a former teammate of Cuetos in Cincinnati, nearly matched his old friend. Signed to a one-year deal in the off-season hoping he can reclaim some of the form that made him an All-Star in 2008, Volquez has not disappointed. The right-hander has been one of Pittsburghs biggest surprises and rolled through the Reds for six innings before Cincinnati broke through in the seventh. Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier led off with consecutive singles and Bruce trotted home one out later when Pena laced a shot to right field. The burly catcher was ruled out at second on review while trying to stretch a single into a double, but Cozart followed with a sharp double to left to make it 2-0. Cincinnati added insurance runs in the eighth and ninth, with Cueto providing the eighth RBI of his career with a single to right off reliever Stolmy Pimentel. NOTES: Cincinnati RHP Mat Latos still has not thrown since being scratched from a rehab start on April 8 due to inflammation in his right elbow. Cincinnati manager Bryan Price said Latos is "feeling better" and could begin playing catch before the end of the week. ... The Pirates have yet to name a starter for Thursdays series finale. The team placed LHP Wandy Rodriguez on the 15-day disabled list on Monday with inflammation in his right knee. ... The series continues on Wednesday. New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - A pair of storied programs will meet up at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night as part of the Jimmy V Classic, as the Indiana Hoosiers take on the fourth-ranked Louisville Cardinals. After suffering a head-scratching loss at home to Eastern Washington on Nov. 24, Indiana has righted the ship with three straight wins to pull to 7-1. The Hoosiers had one of their most dominating performances of the season on Saturday, as they closed out a season-opening eight-game homestand with a 95-49 triumph over Savannah State. Louisville also finished a lengthy homestand in style in its most recent game, as it dismissed FIU on Friday, 82-57, to remain unbeaten in seven tries this season. This marks the Cardinals second neutral-court contest on a national stage, having previously downed Minnesota in the Armed Forces Classic in Puerto Rico in the season opener, 81-68. Indiana leads the all-time series with Louisville by a 10-6 count, and this is the first matchup between the programs since 2003. The Hoosiers barely broke a sweat in their most recent game, as they opened up a commanding 43-17 lead at intermission and cruised to the 46-point victory from there. They outshot Savannah State from the field, 57.4 percent to 32.1 percent, had an outstanding night from 3-point range (10-of-21) and won the rebounding battle, 42-24. Yogi Ferrell and James Blackmon, Jr. paced the winning effort with 18 points apiece, with Ferrell adding seven assists as well. Troy Williams and Robert Johnson netted 12 and 10 points, respectively. Indiana has played at a high level on the offensive end of the court this season, as it shoots 52.4 percent from the field (including 43.9 percent from beyond the arc) on its way to 88.4 ppg, which is more than enough to support a modest scoring defense (69.2 ppg). Blackmon scores 19.5 ppg and has been lights out from long range (26-of-48). Ferrell is an elite playmaker on the perimeter with 17.3 ppg and 5.8 apg, while Williams (12.2 ppg, 5.3 rpg) and Johnson (11.1 ppg) have also been stellar. The Cardinals faced an early deficit in their contest with FIU but quickly turned things around with an 18-0 burst and never looked back from there en route to the 25-point win. They were lights out from the field in shooting 57.1 percent, and they paired that with an excellent defensive effort in forcing FIU into more turnovers (25) than field goals (20). Pacing five players in double figures was Anton Gill, who provided a spark off the bench with 15 points. Montrezl Harrell tallied a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, Wayne Blackshear and Terry Rozier scored 12 points apiece and Chris Jones chipped in with 11 points. Its no surprise that Louisville is one of the nations top-ranked teams considering it has built up an astounding +26.7 scoring margin. The nations third-ranked scoring defense (49.3 ppg) has stifled opponents to the tune of nearly 20 turnovers per game. Harrell (16.1 ppg, 9.4 rpg) is one of the best big men in the country and is making field goals at a 61.5 percent clip. Rozier (13.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg) and Blackshear (12.9 ppg, 5.9 rpg) are also active in the paint, while Jones rounds out the double- digit scorers with 11.7 ppg. ST. ANDREWS, Scotland - One incredible month of golf was enough for Rory McIlroy to be voted PGA Tour player of the year. The award was announced on Wednesday and surprised no one. McIlroy won the award, which is a vote of PGA Tour members, for the second time in three years. He joined Tiger Woods, Greg Norman and Nick Price as the only multiple winners of the Jack Nicklaus Award since it began in 1990.Id like to win a lot more in my career, and I feel like I can, McIlroy said from St. Andrews, where he is playing in the Dunhill Links Championship.McIlroy and Jimmy Walker each won three times on the PGA Tour, though the size of the trophy tilted heavily in favour of the 25-year-old from Northern Ireland. McIlroy went wire-to-wire to win the British Open, rallied from three shots behind on the final day at Firestone to capture his first World Golf Championship, and won the PGA Championship with a sterling back nine at Valhalla. He became only the seventh player to win the final two majors of the year, and the first since Padraig Harrington in 2008.Chesson Hadley of the U.S. was voted PGA Tour rookie of the year.McIlroy failed to win on the European Tour or on the PGA Tour in 2013 during a turbulent year when he switched out all of his equipment, and would end up in a legal mess after leaving his management company. He also struggled with a phenomenon that became known as Freaky Friday for taking himself out of tournaments with bad second rounds. He solved that enigma and roared back to No. 1 in the world with a solid year that became spectacular with his two major titles.McIlroy also led the PGA Tour with 12 finishes in the top 10, and he never finished worse than 25th. He also won the PGA Tour money title with just over $8.2 million, and he won the Vardon Trophy for the lowest adjusted scoring average. He won the award over Martin Kaymer, who won The Players Championship and U.S. Open; Masters champion Bubba Watson; FedEx Cup champion Billy Horschel; and Walker. The tour does not release vote totals.I guess it just makes me realize that even though last year wasnt the year I wanted, the last three or four years have been very, very good, McIlroy said. It gives me even more motivation to go on and work harder and try to win more tournaments, more majors, and be involved in more Ryder Cups like last week.McIlroy contributed two wins and two halves in Europes 16 1/2-11 1/2 victory over the Americans last week at Gleneagles. The PGA of Americas award for player of the year is based on points, and effectively ended when McIlroy captured his second major. Just like two years ago, he is virtually certain to win the money title on both sides of the Atlantic, and sweep the significant awards in Europe.Being voted player of the year by your peers is something thats important, he said. They are the guys that you play week in and week out, and the guys you are trying to beat week in and week out. And if they appreciate what youve done over the year, and see the hard work youve put in, and golf youve played, and think thats been the best of the season, thats something that means a lot to me.Hadley won the Puerto Rico Open, which was held opposite a World Golf Championship at Doral. COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - The Vancouver Whitecaps hadnt experienced a loss in over two months before falling to the Colorado Rapids 2-0 on Saturday. Dillon Powers and Vicente Sanchez both scored in the first half as the Rapids snapped the Whitecaps (5-3-7) franchise-best unbeaten streak at eight matches. But as head coach Carl Robinson saw it, it wasnt that big of a deal. "Weve lost one in nine," Robinson said. "I wont get carried away." Despite the loss, Vancouver had reason to celebrate as Whitecaps Mehdi Ballouchy, Steven Beitashour and Nigel Reo-Coker all made their returns after various lengths of absences. Ballouchy played 20 minutes in his first game in nearly 11 months since tearing his right ACL last season. He tore his left ACL two years ago, and played only five games for the San Jose Earthquake before the most recent injury. "Its been a long time," Ballouchy said. "When you do an ACL, you come back, and you do it again, these are long-term injuries. A lot of players dont come back. Its been a steep, steep hill and Im happy to be playing again." Reo-Coker was back in action after missing Wednesdays scoreless draw against Montreal to be in New York for the birth of his first child, while Beitashour was back after a long trek back from Brazil, where he played for Irans national team in the World Cup pool play. Vancouver hadnt lost since falling to Los Angeles 1-0 on April 19. It was the second of a brief two-game losing streak that started with a home loss to Colorado a week earlier. "Weve lost three games out of 15. Its not bad," said Reo-Coker. "Every team has spells like this — even the top teams. Were going through it now. We have so much belief and confidence in this team that were going to bounce back. Its a sign and test of how good we are." Reo-Coker said the birth of his daughter Scarlet changed his life "completely." "Its fantastic," he said. "Its something you cant put into words until you go through." He had a less memorable moment late in the first half when he fouled Sanchez in the box, leading to a penalty kick. Sanchez easily beat goalie David Ousted in the 36th minute to give the Rapids their second goal. "It was just miscommunication between David and myself," Reo-Coker said. "I saw David coming out and we kind of hesitated amongst each other, no one really took command of the full situation." Robinson had no issue with the call. "Second goal, it was a blatant penalty," he said. Powers hit the bar in the 17th minute and put a shot through the legs of a Vancouver defender three minutes later to give Colorado a 1-0 lead. The Rapids had another chance in the 27th minute, but were turned away by Ousted. Vancouver had two solid chances in the second half but Pedro Morales put a shot wide in the 63rd minute and Johnny Leversons laser in the 77th minute was saved by Clint Irwin. Colorado had 19 shots overall to Vancouvers five. "Were going to win games where we dont deserve to and were going to lose games we deserve to win," Robinson said. "Tonight we got what we deserved." Robinson didnt play Beitashour, opting instead to give him a rest after a long period of travel. "Beitas had three flights and in total its probably 16 hours of flying," Robinson said. "What I didnt want to do is risk an injury to him. I made the decision before the game." The win puts Arsenal four points clear of Everton in fourth place with two games to play in the Premier League, a position which would qualify the club for Europes top competition for the 17th straight year. Erik Lamela Jersey . Meanwhile, the Jets extended their winning streak to four and remain perfect under Paul Maurice. Its the Jets second four-game winning streak of the season, the other coming in mid-November. Georges-Kevin NKoudou Jersey . How does Jim Bennings selection as GM in Vancouver, and who he selects as head coach, affect the Ryan Kesler situation? Darren Dreger: Ryan Kesler hasnt changed his mind. He wants a fresh start and to move on from Vancouver; he met with Benning earlier this week to talk about that. Its believed that Kesler still has six teams on his list that hes willing to be traded to. And we think that Philadelphia and Anaheim are among those. Pierre LeBrun: The asking price remains high, as it should for a guy that only has a $5 million cap hit for two more years. The Canucks dont just want futures here, they want a player that can help them now, preferably a centre. Bob McKenzie: With Kesler on the marketplace right now, thats bad news for the Ottawa Senators, who have been trying to trade Jason Spezza, preferably before the draft. With Kesler out there, thats a centre that most teams will target before they go after Spezza. LeBrun: It might get even more interesting if Joe Thornton or Patrick Marleau are on the market. Right now thats not the case but the Sharks have made it known theyre rebuilding. What does that mean for a veteran like Thornton – does he want to be on a rebuilding team? That remains to be seen. Why Jim Rutherford in Pittsburgh? And who might he hire to replace the fired Dan Bylsma? McKenzie: They like Rutherfords experience and they also like the fact that at this point in his career Rutherford is happy to take a 2-3 year transition phase and be able to turn the reigns over to an assistant like Jason Botterill, Bill Guerin or Tom Fitzgerald. In terms of who the coach will be, Ill say this: if Paul Maurice hadnt signed on long-term with the Winnipeg Jets, those two – the Lone Ranger and Tonto – might have ridden again, with Rutherford obviously having an affinity for Maurice. I think whoever he gets, it has got to be a guy who has some cache, whos got a name, and whos been a head coach. Because when that guy walks into that dressing room, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni p;Malkin have got to sit up and take notice.dddddddddddd Give me an update on the other three coaching vacancies. Dreger: Dale Tallon has interviewed as many as 10 candidates for the vacancy in Florida. Hes hoping to get the list down to 5-6 as early as next week and start the process of second interviews. LeBrun: With Rutherfords old team in Carolina, Ron Francis were told has interviewed close to 10 candidates and hes not done. He wants a crack at Ulf Samuelsson, his old teammate, on the New York Rangers staff. He has to wait for the Stanley Cup Final to end. Bill Peters is another candidate; hes interviewed Jacques Martin; and maybe John Stevens from the Los Angeles Kings is in the mix as well. McKenzie: Theres been no news coming out of Vancouver on the coaching front for an obvious reason. We believe the top candidates are still coaching and not available to be interviewed. Thatd be Stevens with the Kings, and Willie Desjardins, whos currently coaching in the American Hockey League Championship and is another strong candidate in Vancouver. The first overall draft pick has only been traded four times. Will it be a fifth this year? Dreger: Its definitely in play and I know the Panthers have at least one solid offer, but the expectation is things will heat up in the days ahead. Is Martin Brodeur prepared to leave New Jersey? LeBrun: I spoke to Brodeur today and he said mentally hes ready to leave New Jersey. He hasnt totally closed the door on the Devils – he says “Ill be a Devil for life” – but he will go to July 1 and see if theres a fit. Hes ready to play one more year and hes ready to play in another uniform. McKenzie: And theres another free agent we should keep our eye on who most people havent heard of: a 22-year-old Czech by the name of Jiri Sekac. He went through the NHL Drafts and never got picked up. He was once cut by the Peterborough Petes but he had a strong year in the KHL playing for the Prague team. Right now he has more than a dozen firm offers on a max entry-level deal for two years. Hes expected over the next couple of days to make up his mind as to which team. This is a guy who is in great demand. Hes a 62, 190 pound left winger who many believe is ready to step in NHL-ready. HONOLULU -- Jerry Rice has fresh bragging rights on Deion Sanders nearly a decade after both players retired from the NFL. Dallas running back DeMarco Murray caught a 20-yard touchdown pass with 41 seconds left and Carolina running back Mike Tolbert plunged into the end zone for a 2-point conversion to give Rice a 22-21 win over Sanders in the first schoolyard-style Pro Bowl on Sunday. "They called my number the whole way," Tolbert said on the field after the game. "Philip (Rivers) told them to give it to me. My old teammate, he told them to give it to me." Baltimores Justin Tucker missed a 67-yard field goal on the games final play after missing a 66-yarder earlier in the game. The touchdown and conversion gave Rice a comeback after Philadelphia quarterback Nick Foles threw a 12-yard touchdown to Cleveland tight end Jordan Cameron with less than 5 minutes to play to give Sanders a 21-14 lead. The touchdowns by Cameron and Murray were the only scores of the second half in a game that had eight turnovers -- including six interceptions -- and nine sacks. "It was definitely sloppy. There was a lot of turnovers because of the weather," said Houston defensive end J.J. Watt, who was a captain on Sanders team. "There was a lot of rain, so obviously that factored into it." The game was played in consistent rain, but little wind and warm temperatures in the high 70s. Foles was the only quarterback of six in the game to not throw an interception. He was named offensive MVP, finishing with seven completions for 89 yards. Philadelphia wide receiver DeSean Jackson and Carolina quarterback Cam Newton also had touchdowns for Team Sanders. New Orleans tight end Jimmy Graham and Cleveland wide receiver Josh Gordon caught touchdowns for Team Rice. Gordon led Team Rice with six catches for 66 yards, while Washington running back Alfred Morris had four catches for 69 yards. The Pro Bowlers were split up by the NFL greats in a new draft format meant to improve the game. The picks made earlier in the week created matchups that pitted usual teammates against each other and challenged Rice and Sanders to compare the all-stars against one another. That led to plenty of trash talk between Rice and Sanders and some bruised egos among players used to being on top of their sport. "Great Job Goat!!!!" Sanders tweeted toward Rice after the game. "Enjoy this moment cause u know Im hot right now." The result Sunday was a game that appeared more competitive than in years past, with some big hits -- even between teammates -- and fewer shenanigans. "It was crazy, but we had fun with it," Gordon said. "I loved it and enjoyed it." Gordon was flipped by teammate T.J. Ward on one of the biggest hits in the game. "I dont think he knew what he was doing but Ill give him the benefit of a doubt on that one," Gordon said. "Ill get him back in Cleveland." Jackson caught the games first touchdown pass from Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck. Luck threw the ball 36 yards into double coverage in the end zone on a flea flicker, where Jackson wrestled it away from Titans cornerback Alterraun Verner. Graham caught an 8-yard fade in the second quarter from teammate Drew Brees, turning around Brees slow start. Graham dunked the ball over the crossbar in celebration, but San Diego safety Eric Weddle jokingly defended the attempt. Newton scored on 1-yard run up the middle for a touchdown, making up for an earlier interception on a ball Cleveland cornerback Joe Haden wrestled away from Jackson. Kansas City linebacker Derrick Johnson -- who had a big hit in the first half on Chiefs teammate Jamaal Charles -- was selected as the games defensive MVP for Team Rice. "I didnt expect it, but hes out there doing his thing," said Charles, who was knocked out of Kansas Citys playoff loss to Indianapolis with a concussion. "I cant get mad at him -- its just about football and youve just got to be ready." "If you stand back, hes going to make you look pretty bad, so I had to go out and really give it to him," Johnson said. "I would never try to hurt my teammate at all, but compete a little bit." Johnson had nine tackles, including eight solo tackles. Carolina linebacker Luke Kuechly had 12 tackles, including 11 solo tackles. Custom Liverpool Jerseys . Im very excited about the playoffs, particularly in the Western Conference with amazing match-ups, as well as the wonderful local story in the Toronto Raptors. It should be a blast. Here are my predictions, but based upon my lousy prognostications during the NCAA Tournament, you might be better off going the other way on some of mine - particularly with the Raptors, who I hope and pray are able to win an incredibly difficult match-up. Mohamed Salah Liverpool Jersey . As each game passes (each has played close with the exception of last night) it becomes clearer just how evenly matched these two teams are and how one mistake, or one bad inning, is likely to sway the result. Ben Woodburn Jersey .com) - Guard Greivis Vasquez and forward Patrick Patterson, two key pieces to the Toronto Raptors run to an Atlantic Division title in 2013-14, were both given qualifying offers by the team on Saturday. We are just four days into the tournament, but there has been no shortage of talking points at Brazil 2014 both on and off the pitch. The goals have been flowing with 37 scored through the first 11 matches, making it the highest scoring World Cup since 1958. Here are the top five things that caught my attention in the tournament so far. 1. Pain for Spain There really was no bigger story for me during the opening days of the tournament than the remarkable fall of the defending Champions Spain at the hands of the Netherlands. It wasnt just the size of the win by the Dutch in a repeat of the 2010 World Cup Final, it was the manner of the victory that shook the soccer world. Four goals is the biggest margin of defeat for a defending Champion in World Cup history. From Robin Van Persies stunning diving header, to Arjen Robbens exceptional two-goal performance it was an incredible, clinical display from the Netherlands, and they could have finished with more goals. All of this came after Spain had taken the lead, and almost went 2-0 up just before RVPs equalizer. However, as impressive as the Dutch were, much of the surprise was about how Spain crumbled. In the second half, the defending World and European Champions looked anything but. The performance of the normally reliable Iker Casillas was just one black mark on a bad afternoon at the office for the Spaniards, and a late miss from close range by Fernando Torres summed up a bleak afternoon. Spain lost their first match in 2010 and went on to win the World Cup. It will be fascinating to see how they respond this time around. 2. Magical Messi There was much talk heading into the tournament about Lionel Messis status as one of the true soccer greats. Can he be on a pedestal alongside the likes of Pele and Diego Maradona if he doesnt win a World Cup? Messi showed on Sunday night what we have seen many times before for Barcelona. Whatever the game, whoever is around him, he has the ability to single-handedly influence the outcome. Argentina were not at their best against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and neither was Messi, but with his team holding a slender one goal advantage against the World Cup newcomers, Messi scored a fantastic goal, leaving defenders trailing in his wake. It was a piece of individual brilliance that provided a spark needed by his team. Whether Messi wins the tournament or not is irrelevant to me - he has already shown plenty for both club and country to be classed as one of the Worlds elite players of all time. 3. Young Lions I didnt expect much from England heading into the tournament, but I was pleasantly surprised by their performance in the 2-1 defeat to Italy on Saturday night. With young attacking flair, they looked dangerous going forward, and despite losing the match showed there is much to look forward to in the future.dddddddddddd Raheem Sterling certainly repaid the faith shown by England boss Roy Hodgson with the Liverpool teenager putting in an excellent performance. One of the big debates afterwards was the performance of Wayne Rooney. He missed an excellent chance with England down 2-1 but struggled to influence the game from an unfamiliar position wide on the left. If England are to be successful, they need to get the best out of Rooney, and Im not sure that position will enable that to happen. With Costa Ricas surprise victory over Uruguay, it leaves the group wide open. Italy will be favourites to advance in first place. England will need to tighten up defensively but if they can produce similar attack-minded performances in their next two matches, I think they have a good chance to advance. 4. Croatia Robbed After all the build up to the World Cup, when the action finally began, it was a massive letdown that the post-game talking point was about refereeing and a controversial penalty. Neymar and Oscar produced star performances as the host nation got off to a winning start, but the game really turned Brazils way when Dejan Lovren was judged to have fouled Fred in the box. It should never have been a penalty. The contact was minimal, and Fred flopped like an Olympic diver, but Japanese referee Yuichi Nishimura pointed to the spot and the penalty gave Brazil the lead they needed to settle some nerves. It was a very poor decision, but fortunately in the days that followed, the action has been so good that the officials have not been the centre if attention. However, Croatian fans will find it difficult to forgive and forget as they were in the game until the referee changed the course of the match. 5. Ouch! Poor old Gary Lewin. Immediately after Daniel Sturridge scored Englands levelling goal in the first half against Italy on Saturday night, cameras zoomed in on the touch line near the England bench. A crowd of people, including medics, were huddled around someone who was lying flat out on the floor. At first there was confusion. Who was it? What had gone wrong? Turns out the man down injured was actually the England physio! Gary Lewin had hurt himself while celebrating Englands goal. He jumped up, landed on a water bottle and dislocated his ankle. It was an embarrassing situation at the time, but it will leave Lewin with a good story in years to come of how he injured himself during a World Cup match and had to be stretchered off! Roy Hodgson confirmed the injury after the match and also that Lewins World Cup is over. A disappointing end for the physio, but at least he will have expert help on hand throughout his recovery. OKLAHOMA CITY -- Serge Ibaka walked slowly and carefully, but without a limp, before facing reporters Saturday afternoon. Much has been made of the Oklahoma City defensive stars absence in the first two games of the Western Conference finals series against the San Antonio Spurs. The 6-foot-10 power forward strained his left calf in the previous playoff series, and the Thunder said they expected him to be out for the playoffs. The team changed course Friday and declared him day-to-day. He worked out Saturday, but he didnt practice before addressing the media for the first time since his outlook changed. With Ibaka, the leagues leading shot blocker, the Thunder were one of the best defensive teams the NBA. Without him, the Spurs shot at least 50 per cent in the first two games of the Western Conference Finals and won them by a combined 52 points. As he stood for the five-minute session wearing a black compression sock over the calf, he deflected claims that he could be a saviour heading into Game 3 on Sunday. "Ive been hearing a lot of people saying my team lost two games because I was out," he said. "Thats not true. I believe in my guys. I believe in my teammates. They can be better with me or without me. Its no excuse because Serge Ibaka was not there. Just San Antonio, the first two games, they played better basketball." Ibaka said he sometimes screamed at his television set when he watched scenarios in which he could have made plays during the losses. He is not sure if he will play in Game 3 -- he said it is up to doctors, and much will depend on how he feels in the morning. For now, he will depend largely on rest, ice and luck. His presence is needed, even if he is less than fully healthy. Kendrick Perkins, Nick Collison and Perry Jones have struggled against the Spurs big men. Kevin Durant, normally a small forward, has played some power forward in the series because of Ibakas absence, and his relative lack of physical strength and unfamiliarity with playing post defence has been exploited. The Spurs prepared all along as though he would return. "It gives them another hell of a player," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said, "but we are who we are and weve got to be who we are. We cant change what we do." Even if Ibaka returns, it will not fully solve Oklahoma Citys problems defending the perimeter. San Antonio has made 18 of 40 3-pointers in the series and guards Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are slashing into the paint with stunning frequency, often scoring or finding their teammates for open shots. The Thunder say it starts with basics. "Its just an individual effort," Perkins said. "Got to put it in your mind that you want to stop the guy in front of you, and thats it. Backside got to be ready. But the thing is when they penetrate, thats what opens those threes. Well do a better job of keeping the ball in front of us, but weve just got to be individual and youve got to want the match up." To be fair, San Antonio shares the ball like no one else. The Spurs led the league with 25.4 assists per game during the regular season. That average is up to 27.5 against Oklahoma City. Parker and Ginobili generate many of the assists, but many others come from simple ball movement. "We dont have a Durant," Ginobili said. "We dont have a Kobe (Bryant) or LeBron (James) that can go one against one and finish every single time. We need to pass the ball to find open teammates, and thats what we do, and thats what weve been doing. We all feel proud about it. We know when we have 25 assists or 30, we are much better and we try to do that every time." Because the Spurs generally have five capable scorers on the floor at a time, it forces opponents to have a greater attention to detail than usual. "Theyve got threats," Durant said. "Everybody on their team is a threat because of their offence. They move the ball. Theyve got 3-point shooters. You take away 3-point shooters, they get the role guys and they get the paint points. You take away that and they start hitting the threes. So we have to do both. We have to be able to close the paint up and get out to shooters. Easier said than done, but we can do it." The Spurs are off to a good start, but experience tells them they wont have as easy a time in Oklahoma City. And in 2012, Oklahoma City fell behind San Antonio 2-0 in the Western Conference finals before winning the series 4-2. "Weve got to know that in their arena its going to be different," Ginobili said. "Theyre going to be way more aggressive, theyre going to be pushed by their fans. We just won two games. They are going to make more shots, they are going to attack harder, they are going to go to the free-throw line more. So, there are a lot of things that they can do much better and were not going to make as many shots." At the end of the 2013/14 season the Premier League said goodbye to Norwich City, Fulham and Cardiff City, who were all relegated to the Championship. Recent history is on the side of at least two of the three teams that will take their place, as the 2007/08 season, when both Birmingham City and Derby County were banished from the top flight, was the last time more than one promoted team was sent right back down. Last seasons victim was Cardiff, who won the second tier title before being immediately returned to sender, while Hull City and Crystal Palace will get a second chance to make waves in the Premier League. Two of the three new teams that will get their crack at the most lucrative clubs in England, have recent Premier League experience. Meet the new class. LEICESTER CITY Manager: Nigel Pearson Last Season: 31-9-6 (first in Championship) (Photo: The Canadian Press) With a nine point advantage, Leicester City won the Championship title and automatic promotion to the Premier League. Under manager Nigel Pearson, the Foxes enjoyed the second highest goal total in the second tier and finished with the leagues best goal differential. The strike partnership of David Nugent and Jamie Vardy led the way for the dynamic offence and will have to at least try to find the same success at the top level to keep their team afloat. Argentinian striker Leonardo, English defender Matthew Upson and Marc Albrighton from Aston Villa have all been added to the roster to bolster the ranks of the team that stormed their way into the Premier League. While their roster does not boast a wealth of top flight experience, there is a lot of speed and skill in the ranks. BURNLEY FC (Photo: The Canadian Press) Manager: Sean Dyche Last Season: 26-15-5 (second in Championship) Burnley wwon a race against Derby County for the final automatic promotion place in the Championship, finishing with a three point advantage.dddddddddddd The Clarets have made six additions to the squad that got them back into the Premier League for the first time since the 2009/2010 season. Michael Kightly, Marvin Sordell, Matt Gilks, Lukas Jutkiewicz, Matt Taylor and Steven Reid have all joined the roster, but at a cost of only £3.5m, it is clear that they wont be splashing the cash in the transfer window. Last seasons top scorer Danny Ings is going to be key to keeping Burnley in the Premier League. Sam Vokes was part of the strike partnership but he is struggling with injury and wont be available for the start of the season and possibly beyond. The financial gap might be too hard for them to bridge and a tough schedule to start the season should give an early indication of the level to which they can raise their game. QUEENS PARK RANGERS (Photo: The Canadian Press) Manager: Harry Redknapp Last Season: 23-11-12 (fourth in Championship – won playoff) With a flair for the dramatic and history, Bobby Zamora scored in the 90th minute to banish Derby County and capture the final promotion position with a 1-0 victory in the Championship playoff. Chalk full of familiar names and with lots of money spent and to spend, Queens Park Rangers are going to feel like having an old friend back in your crew. The newly acquired central defensive pairing of Rio Ferdinand and Steven Caulker as well as Cardiff City transfer Jordon Mutch are just three of the many names that will jump off the roster page as being familiar to Premier League fans. They were only forced to play one season outside of the top flight after an ill-advised series of transfers failed to keep them in the League two years ago. If they are in trouble again during the January window they are the most likely of the three teams to have more money to spend to get out of the relegation zone. VANCOUVER -- Canadian hockey fans might have seen Saturday nights game between Montreal and Vancouver as a measuring stick for two Olympic goaltending hopefuls. Carey Price didnt, but he still came out on top against one of his rivals for the No. 1 job at the Sochi Games. The Anahim Lake, B.C., native was stellar in making 39 saves in his home province and Lars Eller got credit for a bizarre short-handed winner as the Canadiens defeated the Canucks 4-1. Price wasnt about to feed into any hype about his performance against Roberto Luongo, who won gold for Canada at the 2010 Olympics and finished the night with 34 saves. "Its our team against their team, doesnt matter who is playing net for them," said Price. "Everybody is trying to twist this another way. "All it was is two hockey teams playing against each other." Still, Price left his mark on the game through two periods as Montreal led 2-1 despite giving up 31 shots and numerous scoring chances. "Wow," said Eller of his goaltender. "Its probably the best hockey Ive seen him play, and that says a lot. He kept us in the game. I dont know how. "Halfway through, two periods through, he was the single reason that we were even this game. Unbelievable performance." Max Pacioretty, Tomas Plekanec and Josh Gorges also scored for Montreal (3-2-0), while Raphael Diaz added two assists. Henrik Sedin had the only goal for Vancouver (3-3-0). "Carey Price is having a good start with the team. Tonight he was outstanding," said Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien. "Certainly it was extra motivation to come here and play in front of his family and friends. Im really happy for him that he was able to play that way. He was in the zone." The winner came on a strange sequence in the second period with the Canadiens killing a penalty. Canucks defencemen Dan Hamhuis and Jason Garrison got tangled up behind the Vancouver net on a breakout, with the puck caroming into the crease and off both of Luongos skates before dribbling over the line at 16:12. "I didnt see it. I didnt see it," a frustrated Luongo told reporters. "They didnt show it on the Jumbotron, I didnt see it. You guys tell me what happened." Asked if hed ever given up a more bizarre game winner, Luongo shot back: "I didnt give that up, so I cant tell you." Added Hamhuis: "I was picking up the puck and it just clipped oFf (Garrisons) skate and ended up in (Luongos) feet and in the net. Its a tough break." Eller, who wasnt even in the Canucks zone at the time of the goal, was the last Canadiens player to touch the puck for a Montreal team that didnt score a short-handed at all last season or through the first four games of 2013-2014. Apart from that bizarre play, the story for a lot of the game was Price and Luongo, with the pair matching each other save for save at times. Down 2-1 after the Eller goal late in the second period, Luongo held the Canucks in it early in the third, including a stick save on a Pacioretty penalty shot attempt after the Canadiens forward was hooked down by Vancouver defenceman Kevin Bieksa. But the Canadiens extended their lead at 6:46 on the power play. P.K. Subban just held the puck in at the line and it eventually found its way to fellow Montreal defenceman Andrei Markov down low, who fed a wide open Plekanec. Canucks head coach John Tortorella has been preaching a shoot-from-anywhere mentality, but his team failed to test Price until Bieskas effort from outside the Montreal blue-line with nearly 11 minutes gone in the period. "We didnt play a good third period," said Tortorella, who team was outshot 18-9 in the final 20 minutes. "Whether it was a result of (the Eller goal), I dont know. Up until that point, I thought we played a really good hockey game. "We talked about that wasnt going to beat us, but we certainly didnt play a good third period." Gorges then made it 4-1 with a shot through traffic that Luongo didnt see, much to the delight of the large contingent of Canadiens fans in attendance at Rogers Arena. The final buzzer sounded with those same supporters serenading their team with the well-known "Ole, Ole, Ole" song. Leading 1-0 after the first, Price made a number of stops on a Vancouver power play six minutes into the second period. "(Price) made some saves where I think a lot of people in the building thought it was going to be goals," said Henrik Sedin. "We cant get too down, we played good enough to win, but we werent able to finish off." The Canucks kept up the pressure and were rewarded a bit later on when the Canadiens couldnt get the puck out of their zone. Daniel Sedin picked up a rebound at the side of the net and fed a blind behind-the-back pass to Henrik Sedin, who scored his first of the season -- and 799th point of his career -- at 13:12 to tie the score. But it all went south for Canucks, who start a season-long seven-game road trip on Tuesday in Philadelphia against the Flyers, exactly three minutes later with Ellers winner. "I didnt get a chance to see it when I was behind the bench," said Therrien. "Between periods I went to check it out, and that was ... we got lucky. "Theres nothing wrong (with being) lucky at times." Pacioretty drew a hooking penalty on Canucks defenceman Chris Tanev early in the first period before making Vancouver pay on the man advantage. The Habs forward took a pass in the slot and fired a shot through Luongos pads that just dribbled across the line. The goal was the first surrendered by the Canucks penalty killing unit this season after starting a perfect 18 for 18 through five games. Price was unbeatable the rest of the opening 20 minutes, with a big rebound stop on Garrison on a Canucks power play midway through the period. He then made a desperation save on Daniel Sedin with five minutes to go, which brought chants of "Carey, Carey" from Canadiens fans. "Seems like (Price) was the only guy who showed up early in the game so its nice to reward him with a win like that," said Pacioretty. "We wish we could have got him a shutout for how well he played." Notes: The Canadiens were without captain Brain Gionta because of what the team called "family reasons." ... Nolasco is scheduled to have his elbow examined on Tuesday and undergo an MRI. Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony said Nolasco (5-7) met with manager Ron Gardenhire on Monday before the series opener against the Seattle Mariners and told him he had felt pain all season. Antony said Nolasco believed he could pitch through the soreness, but he couldnt get loose on Sunday and then allowed six runs in two innings against the New York Yankees. "Velocity was down.dddddddddddd He hasnt been as effective with his pitches. He hasnt had the same command that hes had," Antony said. "Basically, everything hes done this year is nothing like the reports we had, or hes not pitching the same way he did last year." Nolasco, who agreed to a four-year contract with the Twins before this season, is 5-7 with a 5.90 ERA in 18 starts this season. Gardenhire said the Twins wont make adjustments to the rotation until after Nolascos exam. He added that the club has options at the major and minor league levels. HALIFAX - Canadas Roger Sloan won the Nova Scotia Open on Sunday for first Web.com Tour title, holing a 5-foot par putt on the first hole of a playoff with Derek Fathauer. The 27-year-old Sloan, a former Texas-El Paso player from Merritt, B.C., played 37 holes Sunday after high wind from Tropical Storm Arthur wiped out third-round play Saturday. After the victory, the fans celebrated with a spontaneous rendition of "O Canada." "I love being a Canadian," Sloan said. "They just broke out in song. This means so much to win this here. I dont know which feels better — to win or to be done today. It was a long day." Sloan closed with rounds of 71 and 70 to match Fathauer at 11-under 273 on Ashburn Golf Clubs New Course. Fathauer had rounds of 71 and 66. Sloan earned $117,000 to jump from 80th to 12th on the money list with $149,303, putting him into position to earn a PGA Tour card as a top-25 finisher in the regular season. "Thats just icing on the cake," Sloan said. Sloan rebounded from a bogey on No. 12 with birdies on Nos. 13 and 14 and closed with four pars. "I had zero awareness of where I stood all day," Sloan said. "I asked my caddie on 18 where we stood and he told me that up-and-down would get me in a playoff." He holed a 4 1/2-footer on the par-4 18th to force the playoff. "That was ticklish putt," he said. "It went down a cliff." Fathauer bogeyed Nos. 16 and 18 in regulation, three-putting from 25 feet on the last hole. "I kind of fumbled things coming in," Fathauer said. Fathauers drive on No. 18 in the playoff found the trees to the right, while Sloan split the fairway. Fathauer clipped the trees on his second, leaving him 100 yards away, while Sloan hit to 40 feet. Fathauer missed his par attempt from 30 feet, and Sloan holed his par putt for the win. Sloan is the third Canadian to win a Web.com Tour event in Canada, following Richard Zokol in the 2001 Canadian PGA Championship and David Hearn in the 2004 Alberta Classic. Tyler Toffoli and Jake Muzzin also scored in Los Angeles five-goal third period as the Kings became the first visiting team to win in Chicago this post-season. The Blackhawks won their first seven home playoff games this year, but the Kings skated right by Chicago after the defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks took a 2-0 lead in the second period. Game 3 of the best-of-seven series is Saturday night in Los Angeles. Nick Leddy and Ben Smith scored for Chicago, which won 3-1 in Game 1 on Sunday. The Blackhawks were in position for their fourth consecutive win before Carter redirected Drew Doughtys slap shot by Corey Crawford to tie it at 2 just 1:37 into the third. Muzzin then had another power-play score at 4:04 that gave Los Angeles the lead. Once the Kings got going, they appeared to get almost anything they wanted against the sagging Blackhawks. Tanner Pearson set up goals by Toffoli at 8:59 and Carter at 14:44, and Carter added an empty-netter for his seventh of the playoffs. Carter also had an assist in his first career four-point playoff game. It was his second playoff hat trick. It was the most goals allowed by the Blackhawks in a playoff game since a 6-1 loss to Detroit on May 24, 2009. Jonathan Quick made 23 saves for the Kings, including a big stop on Brent Seabrook with Chicago trying for a 3-0 lead in the second. The Blackhawks got off to a strong start, using their speed to draw four penalties in the first period alone. Brandon Saad was responsible for two of the calls, making a pair of nice moves that ended with Matt Greene in the boxx for hooking and Doughty sent off for holding.dddddddddddd Los Angeles defenceman Willie Mitchell had to cross check Peter Regin into the net to prevent a goal with about seven minutes left in the period, but Chicago made the most of the man advantage. The Blackhawks turned away a short-handed rush by the Kings, and Duncan Keith made a nice pass ahead to a streaking Leddy coming up the right side. The defenceman, who was a healthy scratch for Game 3 of Chicagos second-round series against Minnesota, then sent a backhander over Quicks left shoulder at 14:16. It was Leddys second career playoff goal. He also scored on April 21, 2012, at Phoenix. Chicago struck again in the second, with Smith jumping off the bench and beating Quick on a line change to make 2-0 at 1:40 of the period. The Blackhawks had another prime scoring chance when Kris Versteeg made a nice pass to Seabrook on a 2-on-1, but Quick got over to make a nice stop on the defencemans shot. Quicks play on Seabrook provided more time for the Kings to get back in the game, and they took advantage when Mike Richards pass to the crease went off Justin Williams right skate and past Crawford with 1:46 left in the second. Williams sixth goal of the playoffs cut Chicagos lead to 2-1 after two, and the Kings carried the momentum over to their big third period. Crawford made 25 saves. NOTES: Carter also scored three times in a 4-0 playoff win at Phoenix on May 15, 2012. ... Kings D Matt Greene was active for the first time in series. Rays closer Grant Balfour came on in the ninth to try and protect a 5-2 lead for Erik Bedard, but walked his first two batters before giving up an RBI single by Collin Cowgill. Trout jumped on a 1-1 pitch from Boxberger (0-1) and drove it into the top tier of the double-decker bullpen in left field for his eighth homer. Fernando Salas (3-0) pitched a perfect inning to get the victory. Angels manager Mike Scioscia won two replay challenges with his team at bat. Both were against second base umpire Jim Reynolds on tag plays in the fifth and seventh innings, although the Angels didnt score in either inning. Angels starter Tyler Skaggs gave up five runs and eight hits in six-plus innings, remaining winless in five starts at Angel Stadium this season with a 6.91 ERA. Brandon Guyer hit his first home run of the season and centre fielder Desmond Jennings robbed C.J. Cron of a two-run homer as Bedard took a 4-0 lead into the sixth. The left-hander was charged with two unearned runs and four hits through 5 2-3 innings and struck out five. Rays first baseman James Loney, playing in on the grass, allowed a two-out grounder by Erick Aybar to get under his glove with runners at the corners in the sixth. Howie Kendrick scored on Loneys third error of the season, ending a string of 22 consecutive scoreless innings by Tampa Bay pitchers -- five short of the franchise record set last September. Thanks to Jennings catch, Bedard has thrown 46 1-3 consecutive innings without allowing a home run since last Sept. 16, when he was pitching for Houston and gave up a 2-run shot by Cincinnatis Zack Cozart at Minute Maid Park. Tampa Bay scored three runs in the sixth. Jimenez, making his fifth start at third base while David Freese remains on the disabled list, went into the hole for Wil Myers sixth-inning grounder with Aybar standing right behind Jimenez waiting for the ball. It deflected off Jimenezs glove and into short left field, and Myers was credited with an RBI double. Loney, who leads Tampa Bay with 24 RBIs, doubled inside first base two batters later to drive in another run. Danny Willett insists his experiences at last weeks Ryder Cup have not soured him against the event. The Masters champion failed to win a point in his three matches as Europe lost 17-11 to the United States at Hazeltine. Watch NOW TV Watch Sky Sports for just £6.99. No contract. The build-up to the event was also overshadowed by his brother Petes controversial magazine article in which he mocked American supporters. This led to a backlash against Willett at Hazeltine with comments also directed towards his parents and wife during his matches. However, the Englishman remains determined to play in the Ryder Cup again and is hoping to earn a place in Europes team for 2018 when they will try and win back the trophy at Le Golf National near Paris. When asked if he had been put off the Ryder Cup, Willett told Sky Sports News HQ: No definitely not. I think that if you look at last week, its one of the biggest stages in world sport and its got a massive following and you have got 150,000-200,000 fans there that just love watching golf. Willett failed to win a point for Europe at the Ryder Cup Unfortunately, you have got the odd one or two that dont necessarily go there to actually watch the golf, which is a shame but that is what it is. I dont think it is ever going to stop. You got a taste of it last week being in America with the fans and stuff and how they kind of push on to help their team win - thats what they do. In Europe, I think it will be interesting to see how it is in Paris. That is a fantastic golf course with some perfect amphitheatres around the greens for spectators. But I think the Ryder Cup as a whole is an unbelievable event and it was just great to be part of it.Willett also says he has no concerns about playing in other tournaments in the United States as he believes last week was a one-off. Willett was generally well treated by the fans at Hazeltine He said: I think that people realise that what was said was reflecting on a massively tiny portion of people that went there and thats just how it is unfortunately. When you are walking around a golf event week to week, everyone is fantastic. You pitch up and play a golf event anywhere in the world and the fans are great.I dont think you should be walking around playing golf while people are saying things to your parents and saying things to your wife. I dont think thats our sport - thats not what we play for and thats not what we do and unfortunately that happened and it put a little bit of a downer on what was supposed to be my first really good experience of the Ryder Cup. Rafa Cabrera Bello says he understands Darren Clarkes decision to leave him out of Saturdays fourballs at the Ryder Cup. But going forward, it is what we play for, so we will hopefully be there in 2018 and being strong for Europe.Willett is back in action in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship this week and he says he never had any thoughts about withdrawing despite his Ryder Cup disappointments. No I never thought about pulling out of this week, he said. The only reason you would would be because of the travelling - we have been in a lot of time zones over the last couple of months - but it was an event that I had agreed to play in for a long, long time and you stick by it.Its a great event up here and its nice to get back to familiar faces - obviously playing with my caddie which will be a good laugh this week - and just trying to enjoy it.You can watch Englands tour of Bangladesh, plus Premier League football and the Japan Grand Prix on Sky Sports. TSN.cas NHL Play of the Year showdown continues today with a pair of players that are a real pain to play against. The seventh match-up of the Round of 32 sees Anaheim Ducks sniper/bully Corey Perry go up against Boston Bruins pest/point-magnet Brad Marchand. Perrys goal starts with something every elite NHL scorer is able to do on a regular basis: Use exceptional skill to force a defender into taking penalty. He looks to be out of the play after a Calvin de Haan hip-check clips his knee and tumbles him to the ice. However, Perry keeps possession of the puck as the Isles converge on him to try to kill the play by touching the puck. From his knees, Perry has the poise to stickhandle from his backhand to forehand and flip a wrister throughthe nearest daylight he can find: Travis Hamonics legs. The puck pinballs through Hamonics legs, off the keeper and into the net, prompting an emphatic goal call by the ref. Marchands play is a study in second efforts. The pesky Bruin gets around Drew Doughty and sets up what looks like its going to be an incredible one-on-one effort against Jonathan Quick. Doughtys errant stick, however, breaks up the play before Marchand can get a decent shot off. This is not a problem for Marchand, who collects a poor clearance. He then proceeds to fake out Anze Kopitar and beat Quick five-hole with a quick shot. Doughty and Jeff Carter are left with nothing more to do than to watch it unfold. MEDINA, Minn. - Minnesota Timberwolves forward Dante Cunningham was arrested Sunday for the second time in less than a week, booked for suspicion of making terrorist threats just days after being charged with felony domestic assault for an incident involving his girlfriend. Medina police Officer Chris McGill confirmed Cunninghams latest arrest but declined to go into detail about the allegations, saying police would release more information Monday. Cunningham, 26, was arrested early Thursday and charged with felony domestic assault. According to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court, the power forwards girlfriend told police he attacked her during an argument early that morning in his suburban Minneapolis home. The woman, who isnt named in the complaint, told police he kicked down a locked bedroom door, grabbed her around the neck and slammed her against the wall, choking her for 15 to 20 seconds during which she could not breathe. Police said the woman, who had been in a relationship with Cunningham for the past eight months, did not require medical treatment. Cunningham was charged with one felony count of domestic assault by strangulation. He was released Friday and missed that nights win over the Miami Heat, but he rejoined the Wolves in Orlando, Fla., in time to play in Saturday nights loss to the Magic. He started, scoring 12 points in 34 minutes. The Timberwolves issued a statement Sunday saying the team is continuing to monitor Cunninghams "very fluid" situation. It didnt shed light on the allegations surrounding his latest arrest, though. "We reiterate that the Minnesota Timberwolves do not condone the behaviour described in the accusations. We continue to wait for the legal process to run its course and will have further comment when appropriate." In his fifth year in the league, Cunningham is averaging 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds this season. He is set to become a free agent on July 1 after completing the final year of his contract that pays him $2.1 million this season. Josh Sweat Eagles Jersey . The New York Islanders were trying to keep their worst skid from getting any longer. On a raucous night at Nassau Coliseum, both sides had good reason to believe they would be successful. After Patrick Kane gave the Blackhawks the lead in the third period, the slumping Islanders found their game and the net — twice in 51 seconds — to rally for a 3-2 victory on Saturday. We werent happy with the last three games, thats no secret, Islanders captain John Tavares said. Weve got a good team and we know how to respond, and we know we have to get better. The Blackhawks provided a great test for the Islanders (20-10), one of the NHLs surprise teams this season. When Kyle Okposo and Lubomir Visnovsky struck in quick succession, Chicagos winning streak was over at eight, and New Yorks losing run was snapped at three. The Islanders are the first Eastern Conference team to 20 wins.Im not a hero, said Visnovsky, whose second goal of the season was the winner. I try to play the best that I can. Sometimes its not easy and sometimes you look like a hero. Today I look like a hero. There were plenty of players who could claim that title on this night. Cal Clutterbuck scored 6 seconds after Daniel Carcillo gave Chicago a 1-0 lead in the second period. Okposo knotted it at 2 with a power-play goal, setting up Visnovskys clutch finish.New York fired 41 shots at backup goalie Scott Darling, a total that couldnt have been predicted when the Islanders recorded only eight in the first period. We were just trying to shoot the puck and go to the net, Okposo said. When we do that, were a pretty good team. After Kane put the Blackhawks ahead 3:46 into the third with an end-to-end rush with a backhanded finish, Okposo tied it off a rebound of Tavares shot with 9:50 left.Visnovsky then skated across the Chicago zone and beat Darling to put New York in front at 11:01.We had some breakdowns and I couldnt come through, said Darling, 5-2 in seven career NHL games. They ended up being the difference in the game.Jaroslav Halak got back on his gamme and made 23 saves.dddddddddddd He had lost two straight after winning a club-record 11. New York allowed 17 goals during its three-game skid.Darling, subbing again for injured Corey Crawford, had won four straight — all on the road — and three times in six days. He stopped 38 shots.Just when it seemed both teams might be shut down, the Blackhawks went in front on their second shot of the second but found themselves back in a tie seconds later.Carcillo started it with a shot from the slot that Halak blocked, but the puck popped into the air and landed behind the goalie with 5:35 left. It was Carcillos fourth goal. Before that could be announced to the crowd, which had a fair share of Blackhawks fans scattered around it, a Chicago blunder got the Islanders on the board. On the faceoff following the goal, defenceman Duncan Keith got the puck in his end, but lost it to Clutterbuck, who came in alone and scored his fourth. This was a wakeup call for sure, Kane said of the Blackhawks, who host Calgary on Sunday. We allowed too many chances. We will come back strong (Sunday). Our goalie was great and gave us every chance. The Blackhawks had the better of the play in the scoreless first, but despite spending countless shifts in the New York end, the Blackhawks couldnt take advantage.Even their shot count was kept down, and they took a 10-8 edge into the dressing room. Both teams had one fruitless power play in the frame and one stymied breakaway.Brandon Saad was denied by Halak with 8:15 left after he took the puck away from former teammate Nick Leddy, and Okposo was turned aside by Darling with 5:53 remaining.New York turned the tide in the second period and had a 17-7 shots advantage.Scotty kept us in, Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews said. We didnt make them do things they didnt want to do.Thats a good team. They definitely outworked us.NOTES: Crawford (lower body) missed his fifth game. ... Islanders C Cory Conacher cleared waivers and was loaned to Bridgeport of the AHL. LW Josh Bailey (lower body) returned after missing one game, and Eric Boulton was scratched. D Brian Strait was a healthy scratch.
