Sydney and the Western Bulldogs have received good news from the AFL match review panel, with no players facing suspensions ahead of their preliminary finals.Bulldogs forwards Clay Smith and Tom Boyd can accept $1000 fines for being involved in a melee during their semi-final win over Hawthorn at the MCG on Friday.Hawthorns Cyril Rioli and James Siciliy can also accept $1000 sanctions for their role in the halftime scuffle.Adelaide ruckman Sam Jacobs was reported during Saturdays semi-final at the SCG for a bump to the head of Sydneys Ben McGlynn but can escape with a $1000 fineThe clash early in the fourth quarter was deemed to be careless conduct with low impact to the head. With no other incidents assessed, Greater Western Sydney star Steve Johnson will be the only player to miss the preliminary finals through suspension.Johnson accepted a one-week ban for a bump to the head of Sydneys Josh Kennedy in their qualifying final which left the on-baller dazed. The Giants will play the Bulldogs at Spotless Stadium on Saturday, while Sydney and Geelong will face off in the other final at the MCG on Friday. Michael Pineda Jersey . Murray beat Sam Querrey 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-3 to clinch Britains opening-round victory against the United States on Sunday at Petco Park. "Im proud of the way Im playing just now, because I had to do a lot of work to get back to where I want to be," Murray said after celebrating with his teammates on the red clay court in a temporary stadium in left field of the downtown home of baseballs San Diego Padres. Bert Blyleven Jersey . -- Gus Malzahn finally had his day in Fayetteville. http://www.twinssale.com/twins-max-kepler-jersey/ . The Masters champion and winner of last weeks Australian PGA has a three-round total of 14-under 199 at Royal Melbourne. "Im in a really good position for tomorrow," Scott said. Willians Astudillo Twins Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. Harmon Killebrew Twins Jersey . P.A. Parenteau scored early in the third period to help the Avs edge Toronto 2-1 on Tuesday night. Cory Sarich also scored for Colorado (3-0-0), which is off to its best ever start. PITTSBURGH -- Tony Romo will be back in uniform next Sunday when the Dallas Cowboys host the Baltimore Ravens. The leading passer in franchise history however, wont be under center. As much respect as owner Jerry Jones has for Romo, even Jones isnt going to go away from one of the hottest hands in the NFL, one that has the streaking Cowboys atop the NFC East with no signs of slowing. Its your job for now, Dak Prescott.A few more games like the 319-yard, two-touchdown performance in Sundays 35-30 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers and it may be yours for good.I think the longer he plays like this, the more we have a chance to have another win, Jones said. Everybody here wants to do one thing and thats win. And theres nobody that would introduce any other issue or any other consideration than doing what it takes to win the game.Romo included, apparently. Though Romo is practicing and fully recovered from the back injury he suffered in August, Jones plans to stick with Prescott with the Cowboys (8-1) riding an eight-game winning streak. While running back Ezekiel Elliott scored twice in the final 2 minutes of a wild fourth quarter to bring Dallas back a pair of one-point deficits, Jones was equally awed by the ease with which Prescott handled the pressure against a team desperate to right itself.Prescott went 9 for 10 over the final two Dallas drives, standing in the face of the Pittsburgh pass rush like a player whos been around for more than just a couple of months. He was outstanding, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. Its contagious throughout our team. Guys believed in him. Everyone believed in each other.Other takeaways as Dallas matched the longest single-season winning streak in team history while the Steelers (4-5) dropped their fourth straight.ZESTY ZEKEElliott, the other Dallas rookie, found the going tough until late in the fourth quarter. Then, the NFLs leading rusher with the relentlessly churning legs buried Pittsburgh. His first touchdown, a 14-yard dash down the right sideline, put the Cowboys up 29-24. His second, a 32-yard sprint right up the middle , came on a simple play when he was just trying get the ball a little closer for kicker Dan Bailey. Instead, Elliott found nothing but a large swath of green in front of him.It parted like the Red Sea, Elliott said. All I had to do was run.FOR YOU, DADDallas wide receiveer Dez Bryant caught six passes for 114 yards and a score , his most productive game of the season.ddddddddddddBryants breakout came just a day after the death of his father, MacArthur Hatton. Bryant chose to play and paid tribute by pointing to the sky after his pretty 50-yard touchdown grab.I dont know how you being to understand how someone can perform at that level dealing with such an emotional thing in their life, Garrett said. He was locked in. He was very passionate throughout the ball game.ACCOUNTING ISSUES?Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger passed for 408 yards and three scores to move into 10th on the NFLs all-time list for career touchdown passes (292), slipping by Hall of Famers Johnny Unitas and Warren Moon. Yet it wasnt enough to lift Pittsburgh to its first victory in more than a month.Roethlisberger said the Steelers were undisciplined and not accountable. When asked what he meant by accountable, Roethlisberger didnt exactly provide specifics on where his team was lacking.Just a feel, he said.MARINO 2.0Roethlisberger channeled Hall of Famer Dan Marino late in the fourth quarter, faking a spike and instead lobbing a 15-yard scoring pass to Brown that put Pittsburgh in front with 42 seconds left. It was reminiscent of Marinos famous play against the New York Jets in 1994 . However, the exception is the Dolphins won and the Steelers didnt.(Offensive coordinator) Todd (Haley) was in my head yelling `Dont waste a down, Roethlisberger said. But I knew what we were doing, so Im glad it worked.UP NEXTCowboys: Will go for their ninth straight victory on Sunday against the Ravens. Dallas has never won nine consecutive games in one season in the franchises 57-year history. There have been a lot of great teams and championship teams that have come through in the last 57 years, Garrett said. Thats certainly something to comment on. Its been a good streak for us.Steelers: On the surface, a trip to 0-10 Cleveland would be the perfect elixir. Yet, Pittsburgh has struggled on the road this season. The Steelers are 1/3 away from Heinz Field this season, the lone victory coming in the season opener against Washington.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '

BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil -- Its not just tradition, and its not just Neymar. You can see that in Brazils game and in the results the team has gotten in the qualifiers.Argentina coach Edgardo Bauza is another fan, and friend, of Tite. The pair recently coached in the Brazilian league, Tite at Corinthians and Bauza at Sao Paulo.Tite changed the way Brazil plays, with five agile players in the midfield and a lot of finishing power, Bauza said. He is very talented. His style has certainly impressed Brazil winger Douglas Costa, who compared Tite to Carlo Ancelotti, his coach at Bayern Munich. They do well because they deal well with the athletes, they are very human, Costa said. They like this exchange with the players in the dressing room, they listen to us. That is their biggest virtue.Thursdays match will be played in the stadium that hosted Brazils stunning 7-1 loss to Germany in the 2014 World Cup semifinals. RIO DE JANEIRO -- In the unpredictable sport of BMX cycling, where races last just about 40 seconds, a strong start means a lot.Get to the front after the first turn, and theres a good chance a rider will be able to avoid the kind of wreck-filled chaos that marked the action in the mens quarterfinal round at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics on a breezy afternoon. Its always the key, Australias Sam Willoughby said, but especially ... when its windy like this and theres carnage out there. An early lead will come in handy for riders in the mens and womens semifinals beginning Friday afternoon, with the medal races later in the day.Willoughby is on a roll headed into the semis after winning all three of his heats in the quarters on Thursday . Australian teammate Anthony Dean also had a strong quarterfinal round, while the United States and the Netherlands each sent all three of their cyclists into the mens semis. We dont have lanes and its a full-contact sport, so the start is very important, Willoughby, the 2012 silver medalist, said this week. To get out front at the first corner, you can run your own race from there and create your own destiny a bit.Its tough enough just to have a chance to lead the pack after the first turn. The action begins with cyclists released from a starting gate at the top of a ramp three stories tall. They pedal furiously down the ramp and pick up speed to jump hills and maneuver through turns on the roughly quarter mile-long course.U.S. rider Alise Post said she thinks riders reach a speed of 35 to 40 mph just a few seconds into the race. Theres no suspension on the bikes, either. Its very demanding for sure, Post said. The series of jumps after the starting ramp leads into the wide first turn. Inside position is important. Stay out in front and there is a greater likelihood that a rider wont get caught up in the pack of cyclists desperately trying to catch up.And this all might happen in a span of 10 seconds, maybe less. The alternative is to scramble from behind, which isnt uncommon, though less desirable.A contenders day can end in a hurry. In the quarterfinals on Thursday, two-time gold medalist Maris Strombergs barely missed the cut after getting set back from a crash in his first heat that also involved Britains Liam Phillips. Joris Daudet of France, the reigning world champion, also got knocked out after crashing.Theres still 800 feet of track that you cant mess up on ... because seven guys will pass you, no problem, U.S. rider Nic Long said. Its never easy. But yeah, winning to the first jump, the winning to the second jump, then winning the first turn, makes winning to the finish line that much easier.---Online:AP Summer Games: http://summergames.ap.org/---Follow Genaro Armas at: https://twitter.com/GArmasAP Kurt Warner Rams Jersey ., and Rudi Swiegers of Kipling, Sask., took sixth spot on Saturday in pairs at the NHK Trophy ISU Grand Prix figure skating competition. Former NSW Origin and Australian player Craig Wing says its only natural that NRL stars begin mixing with undesirables.Wing, who played 256 games for South Sydney and the Sydney Roosters in his 12-year NRL career, believes that a footballers lifestyle naturally leads them to meeting the kinds of colourful figures who are alleged to have infiltrated NRL players lives this year.In a column for sports website The Roar, Wing explained that any NRL players schedule led to a cramped social life that gives the likes of characters spotted with Corey Norman, James Segeyaro, Junior Paulo and Jarryd Hayne this year better access to players than the general public.Go to the pub or club and people want to chew your ear off about the game or about footy, Wing wrote. The reason youre there in the first place is to get away from exactly that.Or, someone comes up to the team, asks if youd like a separate area, free drinks to get you started, and the ability to ask any girl youd like to hang out with you. When someone who owns or helps run a club offers you free drinks and a free private area, you are very thankful to that person for doing you a favour.Wing points out that while players are recommended to move into private areas by their clubs, it can also be fraught with danger.Drugs, criminal figures and nightclubs are all intrinsically linked, they always have been, Wing wrote. If you dont think that 70 per cent of people in that club knows someone that has some connection with the drug scene then you have your head in the sand.Chances are the person organising your area, with your free drinks and facilitating you talking to beautiful women, also has some connection to that. From there, Wing says they naturally become friends, and players cant be expected to do a background check on everyone they meet. These people offer players a sanctuary. They become associated with a good time. They become a mate.Theyre not hurting anyone, or doing any drugs.Thats how it starts.Meanwhile Wing said Andrew Fifita had a right to visit long-time friend and one-punch killer Kieran Loveridge in prison, but should not publicly support him via writing on his wristband. Sometime on Monday, members of the College Football Playoff selection committee will gather in Grapevine, Texas, to start discussing which four teams should occupy the top four spots in their latest rankings.Theyll weigh several factors when debating the teams, like records, strength of schedule, conference strength and nonconference victories. But with only one week to go before the committee selects the four teams that will compete in the playoff, lets propose to add this to its selection criteria: Who can beat No. 1 Alabama? Now, I know what youre thinking Alabama fans (Nobody!), but humor me for a minute. After 13 weeks of action, the CFP picture remains as muddled as ever. In fact, No. 2 Ohio States 30-27 win over No. 3 Michigan in two overtimes might have been the worst thing that could have happened to the selection committee. If No. 7 Penn State beats No. 6 Wisconsin in next weeks Big Ten championship game in Indianapolis, can the committee really pick Ohio State and not select Penn State, which won the Big Ten and beat the Buckeyes? Sure, it can. In the past, the committee has said that a team without a conference title has to be unequivocally better than a conference champion to get the nod.I think weve proven ourselves with our strength of schedule and how we played, Buckeyes defensive end Sam Hubbard said. It doesnt really matter if we go to the Big Ten championship game. What weve done speaks for itself. But bypassing a conference champion for a team that didnt even win its division might set a dangerous precedent. And if Penn State defeats Wisconsin, and the committee then decides to take both the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions, is it going to leave out potential ACC champion Clemson or potential Pac-12 champion Washington to select a second Big Ten team? That would go over as well as political discussion at the Thanksgiving dinner table.Only one thing appears clear as were headed toward more college football postseason controversy: Alabama is clearly No. 1. The Crimson Tide won their 24th consecutive game Saturday, beating No. 13 Auburn 30-12 in the Iron Bowl. The Tide, the only remaining unbeaten team from a Power 5 conference, will play No. 15 Florida in next weeks SEC championship game in the Georgia Dome. How dominant has the Crimson Tide been this season? The Alabama defense didnt give up a touchdown in four November games, and none of its opponents (LSU, Mississippi State, Chattanooga and Auburn) drove inside the Tides 10-yard line.So as the committee begins its latest deliberations, it should seriously consider which of the other playoff contenders are best equipped to stack up against the Crimson Tide. With that in mind, here are the top contenders:1.?Ohio State: If youve been watching Alabamas Nick Saban and Ohio States Urban Meyer for the past decade or so, it sure seems as if its their world and college football only lives in it.For much of this season, it seemed Saban and Meyer were on another collision course that would have some impact on which team won a national title. No matter the offenses, decade or opposition (hello, Jim Harbaugh), Saban and Meyer seem to be just so much better than everyone else. The Buckeyes werent supposed to be back so soon after losing more than a dozen players to the NFL draft. But Meyer and his staff have done a tremendous job and once again have their team in position to make the playoff. The last time Meyer and Saban squared off, the Crimson Tide were the No. 1 seed in the inaugural playoff in 2014. The No. 4 Buckeyes stunned the Tide 42-35 in the semifinals at the Sugar Bowl, despite having Cardale Jones, a third-string quarterback, making his second career start. Ohio State went on to beat Oregon 42-20 in the CFP National Championship Game to give Meyer his third national title.2.?Clemson: The Tigers nearly knocked off the Crimson Tide in last seasons CFP National Championship. Clemson had a 24-21 lead in the fourth quarter, but then Alabama scored and Saban called for an onside kick. It was the turning point in the Tides 45-40 victory.Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson hasnt been as sharp, and Clemsons defense hasnt been as fierce this season, but the Tigers seem to be hitting their stride at the right time. Watson threw for 347 yards with six touchdowns in a 56-7 rout of South Carolina. If Clemson beats Virginia Tech in next weeks ACC championship game in Orlando, Florida, the Tigers should make the playoff.3.?Washington: Alabama routed USC 52-6 in its Sept. 3 opener. Washington lost to the Trojans 26-13 on Nov. 12. No contest, right? Maybe not.The Huskies have the Pac-12s most efficient quarterback (Jake Browning), a dynamic runner (Myles Gaskin) and a receiver (John Ross) who can stretch defenses vertically. Of course, Washington was pushed around by USCs defense, and Alabamas defense is much better. But Washington coach Chris Petersen pulled off a couple of the biggest upsets of the BCS era as Boise States coach.4.?Michigan: The Wolverines chances of making the playoff were dramatically reduced by their loss at Ohio State. But if Clemson, Washington and/or Penn State were to fall in their respective conference championship games, the Wolverines might still have a pulse with the committee.Theres no shame in falling by three points in double overtime on the road against the countrys No. 2-ranked team. The Wolverines might even remain in the top four, for now. Michigan dominated Ohio State for much of the game and was on the wrong end of a couple of officiating calls late. But if the aforementioned teams win this coming weekend, the Wolverines will probably have to settle for a New Years Six bowl game.If the Wolverines somehow sneak into the playoff, though, they might be equipped on defense to slow down the Tide. They pressured Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett throughout Saturdays game, sacking him eight times and knocking him down often, and he never seemed comfortable standing in the pocket. Barrett is a junior and has played on plenty of big stages. How might Alabama freshman Jalen Hurts respond under such pressure?Playoff teams after Week 131. Alabama: The Crimson Tide will undoubtedly remain No. 1 in the selection committees rankings after winning their 24th consecutive game, 30-12 over rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl. Freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 27 of 36 passes for 286 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. The Crimson Tide play No. 15 Florida in next weeks SEC championship game in Atlanta.2. Ohio State: Even if the Buckeyes didnt win the Big Ten East and wont playy in the Big Ten championship game, they seem to be a pretty safe pick to be one of the four teams in the playoff.dddddddddddd Along with their 30-27 double-overtime victory over No. 3 Michigan, the Buckeyes won at Oklahoma and Wisconsin and blasted then-No. 10 Nebraska by 59 points.?The selection committee will have a much easier decision if Penn State doesnt win the Big Ten title.3. Clemson: The Tigers rudely welcomed South Carolina first-year coach Will Muschamp to the in-state rivalry by blasting the Gamecocks 56-7 at Death Valley. After struggling earlier this season, Clemsons offense seems to be firing on all cylinders now. Quarterback Deshaun Watson fired six touchdowns, including three to Mike Williams. The Tigers will play Virginia Tech in next weeks ACC championship game in Orlando, Florida.4. Washington: The Huskies should be the biggest beneficiary of Michigans loss -- as long as they take care of business in next weeks Pac-12 championship game against Colorado. Washington routed No. 23 Washington State 45-17 in Fridays Apple Cup, putting together its most complete performance in over a month. As long as Washington wins the Pac-12 and finishes 12-1, it should be in good shape for one of the four spots in the playoff.Next four in contention1. Michigan: The Wolverines arent completely out of the playoff race after their double-overtime loss at Ohio State, but theyre probably going to need a couple of teams ahead of them to fall in conference championship games. The Wolverines have head-to-head victories over three other contenders, beating Colorado by 17 points, Penn State by 39 and Wisconsin by seven, which should help their cause.2. Wisconsin: The Badgers rallied from a 10-point deficit at the half by outscoring Minnesota 24-0 in the second half of a 31-17 victory. Wisconsin clinched the Big Ten West and will play Penn State in next weeks Big Ten championship game in Indianapolis. It was the Badgers sixth consecutive victory and their 13th straight win over the Gophers.3. Penn State: The Nittany Lions continued their breakout campaign under coach James Franklin by defeating Michigan State 45-12, their eighth consecutive victory, to end the regular season with a 10-2 mark. Its Penn States first 10-win season since 2009 and marks the first time it beat Michigan State and Ohio State in the same season since 2008.4. Oklahoma: The Sooners still need a lot of help to get into the top four. They had the weekend off as they prepare for next weeks showdown against No. 10 Oklahoma State in the Bedlam game. Theyll finish the season with a nine-game winning streak and second straight Big 12 title if they knock off the Pokes. OU has defeated OSU in 11 of their past 13 meetings, and 13 of the past 17 under coach Bob Stoops.Heisman candidates1. Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville: Jackson played poorly for the second week in a row, but at this point it seems hell win the Heisman by default. He had four turnovers in the Cardinals 41-38 loss to Kentucky, including a fumble with 1:45 to go, which set up the Wildcats winning field goal. He threw for 281 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions and ran 25 times for 171 yards with two scores.2. Dede Westbrook, WR, Oklahoma: Can Westbrook close the gap on Jackson with a monster performance in next weeks Bedlam showdown against rival Oklahoma State? He leads the Sooners with 70 catches for 1,354 yards and 15 touchdowns. All but 17 catches and 154 receiving yards have come in the past eight games.3. Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson: Watson passed for six touchdowns in the Tigers rout of South Carolina, becoming the third player in ACC history to be responsible for at least 100 touchdowns in his career. Hes 29-3 in his Clemson career and can win his second ACC championship next week against Virginia Tech.4. Jake Browning, QB, Washington: Browning completed 21 of 29 passes for 292 yards with three touchdowns in the Huskies 45-17 rout at Washington State. It was his eighth game with three touchdowns or more this season. So far, hes completing 65 percent of his passes for 3,162 yards with 40 touchdowns and seven interceptions.Best momentsTweets of the nightBest playsWorst playsQuotes of the night1. It was hard out there when Pakistan started their day. Soon everyone told Pakistan they were doing it wrong. It started with them being too slow.Azhar Ali needs no invitation to put the handbrake on, take away the spark plugs and put his car up on blocks. Fifty minutes after the day started, he started scoring runs. Forget ugly runs, Azhar had decided on no runs. He literally had more balls when he was hit on the head, than he looked like scoring off. There were some who thought he needed to score to survive, he disagreed. Others thought he needed to just rotate strike, wrong again.Younis Khan scored slowly as well, but then when he started to score quicker, he scored the wrong way, he scored ugly. That tends to happen when you use the outside of your bat as the main part. Younis edged past the slips, past the gully, past the leg slip, short of the slips, onto his toes, and even when he tried using the other neglected part of his bat, he flicked it in the air. Australia had decided to try the Misbah plan to him and bowl very wide of off stump, and it might have worked, and they would have got away with it too, if it wasnt for those soft hands. When Azhar or Younis did play a big shot, most the time some pesky Australian fielder would pull of an athletic dive and stop it. But finally Younis got one through, a slashing aerial catchable shot through point that raced to the rope, which had the Gabba attendant shouting into his radio, Weve got a boundary to fix for the first time in two days.Just as this grim partnership had managed to soften the ball - they were just about to capitalise on their work - it rained. When they came back out, they had to start again. Younis did with a violent forehand smash, but Azhar fell to a short ball down the leg side.Misbah-ul-Haq came out, it rained again, he came out again, and then resumed the turgid trudge of Pakistan. While Younis runs were starting to look prettier, and more Younis-like, Misbah was prodding and poking for 34 balls before he went out. When you lose Misbahs wicket in general, often all hope is lost. When you are more than 300 runs behind, and Misbahs wicket is lost, hope isnt lost: its decayed corpse has been found floating in the river of despair. Then Younis, not batting slow nor batting ugly, was in the dark hour, with the new ball around the corner and his leader gone. He was soon out trying to reverse sweep. People screamed so loud at their TV sets that Younis could practically hear them. Ridiculous, stupid, terrible. The other two reverse sweeps he tried earlier were all right, because he didnt get out then. The many times in his career when he has used the reverse sweep as a tactic to stop the bowler using a particular line, or length, or fielding strategy, they were fine too. The times he has used it as a valid scoring shot in his career, as a shot to show that he cant be tied down, a shot to make sure that the bowler is not in charge, a shot that he has probably played a thousand times - actually, knowing how old he is, maybe a million times - they were all fine. But this one was bad.At first, it was his golden duck that annoyed people. Then it was the pace of this innings that annoyed people. Then it was the style of the innings that annoyed people. And finally, it was the dismissal that annoyed people. Younis Khan, horribly out of form, older than Neil Harvey, struggling to see the pink ball, bats through two rain breaks, survives a tough section, makes 65, and is out trying to be proactive and dictate to Australia, and he annoys people. And if all Azhar and Younis did was play themselves into a bit of form, that would have been pretty good with two Tests to play. But they did something else; their ugly, slow runs made Australia tired. By the time Younis was being abused for his reverse sweep, Azhar and him had taken 74.3 overs out of the innings. Australia had rain breaks, and hadnt even bowled all those overs today, but they werent as sharp as in the first innings. And so, when Sarfraz came in, his slaps and slogs took a bit off the new ball as well. And so, when Pakistans now customary, hot-hand rotation of the No. 8 position - to whomever has made runs the innings before - meant an in-form and confident Mohammad Amir came in, Australia were just a little tired, frustrated, and wanting to get the whole thing over with.Amir frustrated them some more, but it was Asad Shafiq who defied them. Shafiq was quite slow to get going; it took him 12 balls to get off the mark. He got some ugly runs, an edge that went through fourth slip being a highlight. And he played some attacking shots to Nathan Lyon - one went straight over the head of mid-on. In fact, he took risks all the time; he went up and over point so often that Australia must have thought about a catching deep point. He hooked one for six, not far from fine leg. He drove a massive swinging length ball and was dropped at short cover. And then again at slip, and that too playing a bit of a loose shot when they had just lost the wicket of Amir.Shafiq kept going with his luck. He threw entire kitchen units at balls outside off stump. He swept Nathan Lyon from outside off stump regularly. He took on the short ball. He slashed one for his hundred. That hundred was off 140 balls, despite the fact he came in when Misbah had killed hope, when Younis had thrown the match away, and with his side needing over 300 runs for a victory and some biblical rain intervention for a draw.He took his time, then he was ugly, then he was attacking and then he was magnificent. His innings made you believe in Wahab Riaz with the bat. It made you believe that Pakistan, without a hundred from Misbah, in a day-night Test at the Gabba, despite Younis not making a big-daddy score, and with no adequate warm-up game, could actually chase 490.You want to know why Pakistan got to No. 1 in the world? Its because despite their flaws - and hell yes, they have flaws - despite their mistakes - and hell yes, they make mistakes - and despite their entire archaic cricket system - and hell yes, their system is unprofessional in many ways - they fight, they are patient and they have talent.Despite the glory of the never-ending session, this probably wont be a victory, but it was a triumph of Pakistan over common cricket logic, which is what they have been doing for quite a few years. This was the modern Misbah side in all its ugly, slow, shambolic and beautiful glory. They did it the hard way, because thats their way. Air Max Black Friday 2019 . Diego Forlan is unlikely to join Brisbane with the A-League clubs managing director Daniel Cobb all but ruling out a move for the Uruguayan star.Roar coach John Aloisi is reportedly keen on signing the 37-year-old as the clubs guest marquee player - the same rule that has allowed Melbourne City to snare Tim Cahill.FFA has also indicated it will be willing to contribute to Forlans salary if Brisbane is able to bring the former Manchester United and Inter Milan star to the A-League.However, Cobb said the Roar probably were not in a position to work to Forlans timelines, with the 112-cap international needing an answer quickly as he also dealt with interest from the Indian Premier League.Cobb also claimed it was unclear if the Roar had the financial capacity to meet Forlans demands - but said it would be no problem if he was majority owner, which he was seeking to become.Forlan has a deadline, he wants answers and I dont think we can work with him in timelines, Cobb told AAP.The reality is we have two marquee players at the moment and, whether the club can afford to do another player under the guest player system, were still reviewing that.If I owned the club at the moment, Id be in a different position but, unfortunately, I havent yet been approved as the owner so decisions around players is not straightforward.Cobb had previously indicated the Roars budget included funds for a guest marquee when they were chasing former Socceroo Brett Holman.Forlan last played for Penarol, his childhood club in Montevideo, and scored eight goals in 31 games in the 2015-16 season. Note: The Calgary Flames announced Tuesday that Sean Monahan would not be made available to Canadas World Junior team. Fifteen of the 558 athletes in the U.S. delegation at the Rio Olympics -- or slightly less than 3 percent -- had therapeutic-use exemptions in force during the games. The exemptions, known as TUEs, came under increased scrutiny last week after Russian hackers broke into the database of the World Anti-Doping Agency and posted confidential medical information online from some athletes.TUEs let athletes use otherwise-banned substances to treat long-standing medical conditions, such as attention deficit disorder and asthma. Proponents argue those exemptions only level the playing field; critics say they can give competitors an edge. The hackers largely targeted female U.S. Olympians, among them tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams and gold medal-winning gymnast Simone Biles. All three, as well as several other prominent athletes whose medical records were posted, said the data strongly supported their use of a TUE.I am one of the strongest supporters of maintaining the highest level of integrity in competitive sport and I have been highly disciplined in following the guidelines, Venus Williams said in a statement. How the U.S. numbers compare with that of other Olympic delegations is difficult to say -- let alone how they compare with the number of TUEs granted by the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB because of differing standards and reporting practices.Olympic athletes can request -- and receive -- a TUE from either their international sports federation or a national anti-doping agency. All exemptions are forwarded to WADA, which does not grant TUEs but can appeal them, and then provided to the International Olympic Committee ahead of the games. Both WADA and the IOC declined several requests from The Associated Press for those numbers before, during and after the Olympics. The U.S. delegation total was provided by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. According to the agencys 2015 annuaal report, 136 of the 2,500 or so athletes in its elite Olympic programs -- about 5 percent -- were granted TUEs in 2015.ddddddddddddTravis Tygart, CEO of USADA, maintains theres little abuse of TUEs in sports that use WADA-accredited protocols. In addition to the documentation required, he said the doctors and scientists who review requests can distinguish between legitimate medical needs to treat chronic conditions (i.e., corticosteroids like prednisone for asthma) from performance-enhancers (often anabolic and androgenic steroids). The truth is, it would be foolish to try and cheat this way. If youre trying to cheat, the idea that you would self-disclose what youre already using, or want to use that is illegal, isnt very bright, Tygart said. Most of the action by cheats now is focused on substances we havent yet found, or had a chance to ban -- like the meldonium situation .Among the U.S. professional sports leagues, MLB adheres closest to WADA protocol, both in TUE application and review process. Unlike WADA, however, baseball also reports the number issued each year -- 113 for the nearly 1,350 players who appeared in games during the 2015 season. But that transparency has come with a cost: 111 of those TUEs were approved for Adderall, an amphetamine-based drug prescribed to treat ADD; critics note the number of baseball players being treated for ADD is more than double that of the U.S. adult population as a whole. The NFL, NBA and NHL declined a request from the AP seeking the number of TUEs issued during the previous season. All three leagues devised their own application and review processes incorporating some aspects -- but not all -- of WADAs protocol, known as the International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions, or ISTUE. SAN FRANCISCO -- Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio is keen to remain with the Serie A club despite interest from Europes top teams. Marchisio, who was born in Turin, has spent almost his entire career at Juventus after progressing through the ranks at his hometown club. The 27-year-old player has been linked with Premier League champion Manchester United and big-spending Monaco, and he says "of course it makes me happy to see my name put together with big European clubs" but adds "my dream is to end my career at Juventus." LOUIS -- Rookie Tavon Austin has missed another day of practice, lessening the odds hell be ready for the St. KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Andy Reid has been around long enough to know that focusing on the playoffs with three games left in the regular season is foolish, a trap that can derail a team capable of much bigger things. He also knows something about human nature. So, try as he might to stop his Chiefs from pondering what the future could hold on Sunday, the old coach reluctantly acknowledged that everybody on his sideline will be well aware of the stakes.Probably everyone on the Tennessee sideline, too.I know its an important time of the year. I know that. And if youre in the hunt, every game becomes an important game, right? Reid asked. If you can just keep it that simple from a coach and player standpoint, youre doing OK. Its going to get blown up around you, but we dont talk about it.The Chiefs (10-3), tied atop the AFC West after last weeks win over Oakland, are among three teams that can clinch a playoff spot this week. Beating the Titans is the easiest way, but they could back into a playoff spot if things break their way in games involving Denver, Pittsburgh and Miami. But there is more at stake than just the playoffs, which is why Reid and Co. are focused solely on beating the red-hot Titans. They still believe they can earn a first-round bye and the AFCs No. 2 seed.Theres a lot of incentives to put on this game, Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith said. You want a ticket to the dance. You cant win it unless you get in, so you want to clinch it, for sure. There are nearly as many incentives for the Titans (7-6), who are tied with Houston atop the AFC South. But while the Chiefs are almost certain to make the playoffs as a wild-card if they cant hold off Oakland in the division, the Titans only hope for the postseason may be as a division champ.I know they know the big picture, Titans coach Mike Mularkey said, echoing his counterpart, but Im going to keep them on the same picture weve been on that weve got to win this game. We have to win. We have to go to a tough environment in Kansas City, a team thats playing extremely well, and weve got to win this game or everything else is irrelevant. As two playoff contenders prepare to tangle at Arrowhead Stadium, here are some key story lines:BUNDLE UP: The Chiefs-Raiders game Thursday night ended with temperatures in the low-20s, and thats going too feel balmy.dddddddddddd Snow is in the forecast on Saturday with temps at kickoff Sunday in the low-teens.Probably one of my last college games at Oregon, Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota said, it got down into the high-20s. So this will be the coldest game Ive played, for sure.RUN, RUN, RUN: The Titans roll into the game with the leagues third-best rushing offense, buoyed by DeMarco Murrays resurgent season and Derrick Henrys increased role in the offense. And theyll be facing a Chiefs defense missing linebacker Derrick Johnson, who ruptured his Achilles tendon last week.Next man up. Thats what happened with me, Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston said. They played the first eight games this season without me and they did a great job. So its next man up. Im going to pray for him and hope he stays strong. I know hell stay strong. But the next man needs to be prepared.SPEAKING OF RUNNING: The Chiefs have struggled to run the ball for weeks, and much of the shine has worn off Spencer Ware, who was a fantasy football darling through the first six weeks. Its not one person, one scheme. Its been hit or miss on all the different schemes, Reid said. We can tighten it up, and we can give the players some things that might be a little better for what they do.TYREEK THE FREAK: Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill was the AFC special teams player of the week after his punt return touchdown against Oakland. He also caught a TD pass in the game. And with a kick return TD and a TD run, hes the first rookie since Gale Sayers to score each of those ways.I have to give a shoutout to my brothers out there on the field fighting for me, doing everything that theyre supposed to do, Hill said. Without those guys, I wouldnt be standing here in front of you.RED ZONE EFFICIENCY: The Titans are among the best in the NFL at scoring touchdowns in the red zone, while the Chiefs are among the worst. Mariota has thrown 32 TD passes without a pick in those spots. He has a very quick release and theres not a lot of room for error down there, a lot of tight windows, Mularkey said, and I think hes been very good with that.---For more NFL coverage: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '

RIO DE JANEIRO -- When Merrill Moses first started playing for U.S. water polo, the team manager would pack a TV and VCR for overseas tournaments, and players would watch VHS tapes of their games. Tony Azevedo remembers waiting and waiting for the play he wanted to see.On the eve of the United States opener at the Rio de Janeiro Games, Moses can scout an opponents tendencies on his phone. Azevedo can watch every one of his shots for the last week. Water polo, one of the smallest sports in the Olympic program, has come a long way.Its time management, said Moses, a three-time Olympian who turns 39 on Aug. 13. Were definitely using our time more wisely and preparing in a much better way. When world champion Serbia takes on Hungary in the first mens game on Saturday, followed by the U.S. and defending Olympic champion Croatia, there will be no need for any introductions. Coaches are sharing more video than before, helped by the ease of technology, and USA Water Polo sends a staffer to major championships for video work -- even when the U.S. isnt participating in the competition. The increase in accessible scouting information puts water polo in line with some of the worlds biggest sports, where video libraries have been more commonplace for a longer time. But Azevedo, playing in his fifth Olympics -- a record for the U.S. program -- thinks there is plenty of room to grow.I think the more and more we start to understand our sport and people start investing more technology into our sport, then well actually be able to take it to a whole new level, Azevedo said Friday. I think its just started happening as water polo started growing in the United States and really outside of Europe. The use of underwater cameras also has added another level to water polo scouting. Some major competitions like the Olympics show the thrashing and wrestling that goes on below the surface, giving coaches a closer look at how players are fighting for leverage in key areas of the pool. The 34-year-old Azevedo said the additional information helps in a variety of ways.I mean weve used it, of course, against opponents, saying 90 percent of this guys main shots or his goals are high left, he said. Weve even used it against ourselves, where you take a guy and say `Hey, you shoot 90 percent of your shots here. You need to start learning how to shoot, you know, cross cage or a lob or something else because people are going to catch on. So its really made both sides better.Shooting tendencies could take on even more importance in Rio. Following group play, tie games go straight to a shootout after regulation. Think penalty kicks in soccer.Whether its Moses or his backup, 6-foot-8 McQuin Baron, in goal for the tiebreaker, each of them can take a closer look on where shooters like to go in those situations. For Moses, an assistant coach at Pepperdine who takes a lot of pride in his preparation, the abundance of information presents a different challenge.Theres a fine line where you dont want to, Id say, overthink things, he said. A shooter has his tendencies. I watch it to pick that up, but you also got to understand that hes not always going to do that. When I was younger, I used to go `Oh, hes always shooting there, and now, I kind of know the tendencies, but Im still reading the situation.---Jay Cohen can be reached at http://www.twitter.com/jcohenap Allen Iverson Grizzlies Jersey . Bryant Reeves Jersey .Y. -- Marcell Dareus and the Buffalo Bills defence made life miserable for Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco. Cricket has a way of winning a childs heart. It certainly captured mine. I remember the simple pleasure of feeling bat on ball, the thrill of the paintless cork compo speeding from the sweet spot as I slogged, cross-batted, to square leg - long before I understood the purpose and method (and beauty) of playing straight. I remember the thrill of watching as that ball, bowled with the flick of a supple juvenile wrist, turned the wrong way. Did I really do that? The love grew. I could not get enough of cricket on radio and TV and in the newspapers. I was drawn to the great cricketers of the early 1970s, amazed by their skill, their power, their grace. I copied them: the cobra wrist of DK Lillee, the back-and-across of IM Chappell.I learnt the games elements, its idiosyncrasies, the things that make it cricket. I was captivated by peculiarities like that most remarkable document, the scorebook, and learnt to make sense of the digits and dots and tallies that go here and there as a way of keeping account of an innings and a match. I observed the scorers sense of duty, the reverence for accuracy. I came to understand the place of the HB pencil and eraser in cricket.I discovered cricket history. The local library had a heavy green book (I think it was it compiled by Jack Pollard) that had the scorecard of every Test ever played. I was intrigued: scorecards with the names of legendary players making runs and taking wickets. For each new Test series I bought the ABC Cricket Book, a must-have for any Australian cricket enthusiast. Apart from articles and player profiles, it contained statistics and blank scorecards that I could fill in myself. The book was full of records. Alphabetical lists of cricketers with their careers represented in innings and averages and fifties and hundreds. And tables highlighting Most Wickets and Hat-Tricks and Record partnerships - MCG and Scores of over 250 runs in the fourth innings.I discovered an old yellow(ish) Wisden in a library. I could not fathom the level of genius required to come up with a publication like this. The greatest book ever compiled! And there is a new one every year. I started to read about cricket - in newspapers, in magazines and, later, in books. My father had quite a few cricket books from his youth so I delved into The Ashes Crown the Year, the story of the 1953 Ashes by Jack Fingleton, who my father said was a very good cricketer himself.I noticed that in many publications it was the tradition to include all of a players initials in the scorecard. IM Chappell. GS Chappell. DK Lillee. In some cases that meant more than two initials. MHN Walker might have been known as Tangles but his name was Maxwell Henry Norman. I liked that. The first series I remember in considerable detail is the 1974-75 Ashes. England had three players with three initials. There was KWR Fletcher (Keith William Robert) and APE Knott (Alan Phillip Eric). RGD Willis, I later learnt, had added Dylan to Robert George because he so loved the music and lyrics of Bob Dylan. And so my appreciation of the multi-initialled cricketer was born. I discovered that the much-loved Queensland and Australian wicketkeeper Wally Grout was in fact ATW Grout (Arthur Theodore Wallace). One of his predecessors was WAS Oldfield (William Albert Stanley), known, of course, as Bert.Once hooked on the history of cricket I continued to find exotically named players. The presence of any honorific was also noteworthy. I liked a good Lord (Harris, Hawke or Tennyson), and an Honourable - as in IFW Bligh (the Honourable Ivo Francis Walter), 8th Earl of Danley. There were Doctors, as in the most famous, Dr WG Grace (William Gilbert) and Dr HJH Tup Scott (Henry James Herbert), who captained Australia in 1886 but turned to medicine after eight Tests. There was even a Reverend - as in DS Sheppard (David Stuart), who played 22 Tests for England, and later became Bishop of Liverpool - and was given the title of Baron.I liked the Nawab of Pataudi. Finding a senior and junior was a bonus. Nawab of Pataudi Sr played Tests for both England and India. His son captained India in 40 of the 46 he played in the 60s and early 70s. I stumbled across Yuvraj of Patiala also known as Sir Yadvinder Singh Mahendra Bahadur, a right-handed batsman who played one Test for India in 1934.There have been players with multiple initials from the outset. In the very first Test between Australia and England, at the MCG in 1877, Australian opening batsman NFD Thomson (Nathaniel Frampton Davis) did not offer much support to the sparingly named C Bannerman (Charles), making just 1, but he is famous for being the first batsman dismissed in Test cricket. Englands HRJ Charlwood (Henry Rupert James) was more successful in that match, compiling 36 batting at first wicket down. While impressed by three initials, I soon uncovered cricketers with four! And one I had known only as Stork. HSTL Hendry (Hunter Scott Thomas Laurie) was a fine batting allrounder for Australia in the 1920s, so nicknamed because he was 6 feet 2 inches tall. England have had a couple of four-initialled players as well. VPFA Royle (Vernon Peter Fanshawe Archer) toured Australia in 1878-79. He played in the only Test and was bowled by FR The Demon Spofforth (Frederick Robert) for 3 in the first innings and then caught by him for 18 in the second. It was his only Test. Later ordained as a minister, he became Rev VPFA Royle, which would look good in the scorebook of any parish side. There was also a famous English captain with four initials. JWHT Douglas (John William Henry Tyler) played 23 Tests between 1911 and 1925, and was skipper in 18 of them. From an amateur boxing family, Douglas won the middleweight title at the London Olympics in 1908, (some say, unkindly, because his father was the referee) defeating legendary Australian sportsman RL Snowy Baker (Reginald Leslie). This didnt serve JWHT well. Like many an English captain he was not too popular among Australians - who named him Johnny Wont Hit Today.dddddddddddd JWHTs younger brother was named more conventionally. CH Douglas (Cecil Herbert) played 21 games for Essex but was better known as Pickles Douglas in boxing circles.LRPL Taylor (Luteru Ross Poutoa Lote) led New Zealand in 14 Tests. He is of Samoan heritage and has been called both Ross and Luteru at different times in his cricketing life. Early in his career he would have played first-class cricket against allrounder CZ Harris (Chris Zinzan). CZs father PGZ Harris (Parke Gerald Zinzan) was known as Zin and played in nine Tests as a middle-order batsman. There was also ZV Brooke (Zinzan Valentine), who played 58 rugby Tests for the All Blacks. Zinzan seems to be a uniquely Kiwi name - probably modified from Italian or Albanian, as some online sources have it.South Africa has had at least one four-initialled player. NHCD Theunissen (Nicolaas Hendrik Christiaan de Jong) was picked for his only Test after an excellent performance for Western Province against the visiting Englishmen during the southern summer of 1888-89. The Proteas most famous three-initialled cricketer - HGO Owen-Smith (Harold Geoffrey Owen) - enjoyed the added benefits of a nickname: Tuppy. He won a Rhodes Scholarship and studied medicine at Oxford, where he was a very good cricketer and an outstanding rugby player. Although his studies and his professional life created some interruptions, such was his athleticism that he played five Tests for South Africa and won a reputation as one of the finest fieldsmen cricket has ever seen. He later became Dr. HGO Tuppy Owen-Smith.Across the border, colonial Zimbabwe is reflected in ADR Campbell (Alistair Douglas Ross) who played 60 Tests, and the new Zimbabwe in TMK Mawoyo (Tinotenda Mbiri Kanayi) who has played nine.West Indian cricketers often have memorable names. In one team: IVA Richards (Isaac Vivian Alexander), AME Roberts (Anderson Montgomery Everton) and CEH Croft (Colin Everton Hunte). Soon after, there was PJL Dujon (Peter Jeffrey Leroy), WKM Benjamin (Winston Keithroy Matthew) and CEL Ambrose (Curtly Elconn Lynwall). They also have two representatives with four initials: EDAS McMorris (Easton Dudley Ashton St John) and SFAF Bacchus (Sheik Faoud Ahamul Fasiel). Bacchus, undoubtedly the only four-initialled batsman to be dismissed hit-wicket for 250 in Kanpur, went on to captain the United States cricket team. Then there is the McLean family from St Vincent that includes fast-medium bowler Nixon Alexei McNamara McLean and his siblings Kissinger McLean, Reagan McLean and Golda Meir McLean (none of whom played first-class cricket).Pakistani names generally dont suit initials and tend not to appear that way in the scorebook. No self-respecting scorer would fill in I Khan. He is Imran Khan, from whichever era. Some players go into the scorebook as a single name. Alimuddin played 25 Tests. His brothers Salimuddin and Azimuddin were also first-class cricketers. The Indian naming convention sometimes includes ones ancestral village. Like the first V in VVS Laxman, which stands for Vangipurapu, or the M in ML Jaisimha, a reference to Motganhalli. Many fans referred to them as VVS and MLJ, turning the initials into nicknames. The same wasnt true for EAS Prasanna (Erapalli Anantharao Srinivas), though, who was known fondly as Pras, and BS Chandrasekhar (Bhagwath Subramanya), who was called Chandra. GAHM Parkar (Ghulam Ahmed Hasan Mohammed) played fewer Tests than he had initials, playing just one match in 1982.When the Sri Lankans joined the fray my appreciation went to a new level. Four initials is nothing special for them. Five is getting up there. Not only did I enjoy Chaminda Vaas left-arm inswingers I loved his name: WPUJC Vaas (Warnakulasuriya Patabendige Ushantha Joseph Chaminda). Six takes the prize. UWMBCA Welegedara (Uda Walawwe Mahim Bandaralage Chanaka Asanga) has played 21 Tests as a left-arm quick. Its a pity ARRAPWRRKB Amunugama (Amunugama Rajapakse Rajakaruna Abeykoon Panditha Wasalamudiyanse Ralahamilage Rajitha Krishantha Bandara Amunugama) was unable to persuade the national selectors to pick him despite playing 102 first-class matches. With so much cricket telecast these days, I often notice the multi-initialled cricketer. Recently I saw SCG MacGill (Stuart Charles Glyndwr) as an analyst on TV. He is, perhaps, the most appropriately initialled cricketer ever, given the success he had at the Sydney Cricket Ground. I think he was commenting on SPD Smiths (Steven Peter Devereux) team in Sri Lanka. The visiting Australians could not handle the guile of HMRKB Herath (Herath Mudiyanselage Rangana Keerthi Bandara). When I played lower-grades cricket for the University of Queensland, we would sometimes use the full initials, as we did with the Benson Street CC, a social side that hasnt had the recognition it deserves. PJ Keightley (Paul Joseph), RJ Tobiano (Richard John), PC Martin (Peter Colin), RJ Goldsworthy (Richard John), JRA Murphy (Justin Robert Anthony) and IS Lamb (Ian Stuart) will be delighted to be mentioned in the same article as IVA Richards and IM Chappell. But my favourite is the Australian cricket writer whose name is entered in the South Yarra CC scorebook - somewhere in the middle order - as GCJD Haigh (Gideon Clifford Jeffrey Davidson).I am the father of young children - TC Harms (Theodore Christopher), AM Harms (Anna Matilda), EG Harms (Evie Grace) - who are just starting to appreciate cricket. The tennis ball in a stocking hangs off a lower branch of the birch tree in the backyard. I look forward to them discovering the joy of the scorecard and the beauty of the time-honoured practice of including full initials. It is a tradition that should be preserved. ' ' '

Leicestershire 407 and 172 for 2 (Horton 75*, Cosgrove 58*) lead Worcestershire 349 (Leach 90, Fell 61, Mitchell 52, McKay 4-59) by 230 runsScorecard Opener Paul Horton and skipper Mark Cosgrove helped Leicestershire establish a position to push strongly for a revenge victory on the final day of the Specsavers County Championship encounter with Worcestershire at New Road.Horton has encountered a lean time with scores of two, nine, 19, 15, five and three in Championship cricket since scoring 89 in the defeat against their opponents at Grace Road last month - when they were bowled out for 43 in their second innings. But the former Lancashire player made a timely return to form after his side had been held up by all-rounder Joe Leach and the lower Worcestershire order during the first half of the day.He was well supported by Cosgrove as the duo brought up a century stand for the third wicket in exactly 28 overs. Horton brought up his fifth score of 50 or more of the campaign off 103 balls with seven fours while Cosgroves half century came from 98 deliveries and contained nine boundaries.By the close the Foxes had moved onto 172-2 with Horton on 75 and Cosgrove 58 - a lead of 230.Leicestershire had obtained a first innings lead of 58 and would have hoped for considerably more when Worcestershire resumed on 193-7 - still needing a further 65 to avoid the possibility of being asked to follow on.But the first part of the day had been dominated by Leach who fell 10 short of his first Championship century since his maiden ton against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham three years ago.Leach was at that time regarded as a batting all-rounder and since then his bowling skills have come to the fore with 121 wickets in the competition since the start of the 2014 campaign. He has dropped down the order but the ability to bale out the side when in a sticky situation has materialised on more than one occasion and this was the latest example.Leach was given excellent support by former England Under-19 all-rounder Ed Barnard. The eighth wicket pair added 100 in 21.4 overs and the home side ended up with three batting points which had appeared unlikely at the start of the day.Cosgrove broke the stand when Barnard (42) was caught at mid wicket off a low full toss. But Leach continued to attack and until he flicked a Clint McKay delivery straight into the hands of deep fine leg. His 104 ball knock contained 13 boundaries.McKay finished with 4-52 after he wrapped up the innings by having Kyle Abbott caught at slip.Leachs excellent day continued at the start of the Leicestershire innings when Angus Robson (15) slashed a delivery to point and Neil Dexter (2) was brilliantly stumped by Ben Cox.But then Robson and Cosgrove established a firm control for the visitors to push for a third Championship win of the campaign tomorrow. The loss kept Philadelphia (11-11-8) at 41 points. The Union are fourth in the Eastern Conference.I couldnt be more proud of these guys, Portland coach Caleb Porter said. ARLINGTON, Texas -- The only thing left on the table for the Texas Rangers in the regular season is the best record in the American League. That quest for home-field advantage through the AL postseason took a hit in the series opener against the lowly Milwaukee Brewers. The fourth-place team in the National League Central rocked the AL West champs 8-3 Monday night. The loss knocked Texas (92-65) a half-game back of red-hot Boston (92-64) in the race for the top mark in the Junior Circuit. The Rangers are a half-game up on Cleveland (91-65).The Red Sox take an 11-game winning streak into Tuesday nights game with the New York Yankees. Texas and the Brewers square off in the second of three games at Globe Life Park.Rangers left fielder Carlos Gomez did his part in the series opener against his former club. Gomez, who went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs, is making the most of his second chance since being waived by Houston. Its a big opportunity, he said. They signed me and gave me basically the everyday job. Just go to left field. Youre my left fielder. How I started in Houston, and then to come here and lead off and play left field, they saw something the other team didnt see. Its a big opportunity. Its a blessing to be on a winning team. The Brewers know all too well what Gomez can do. He was a two-time All-Star (2013-14) with Milwaukee before being traded to the Astros last season. With his season, I think theyre trying to get to confident place, Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. It looks like theyre getting him there, so hes going to be an important player for them in the playoffs.Texas has to deal with Jonathan Villar, who homered twice Monday and drove in a career-high five. The second baseman had been 3-for335 this month before stinging the Rangers with three extra-base hits.I needed it because this month has been a little bit bad, Villar said. I want to finish strong. The Rangers, only 5-6 in their last 11, send struggling right-hander A.J. Griffin (7-4, 4.94 ERA) to the mound. Griffin matched the shortest outing of his career on Sept. 20 by lasting just 1 2/3 innings and allowing three earned runs against the Los Angeles Angels. He has gone 3-3 with a 6.32 ERA over his last nine starts. If anything, Texas hasnt been hurt by Griffins ineffectiveness. The club has won four of five and eight of his last 11 starts since July 24. Griffin is facing the Brewers for the first time since 2013.Milwaukee counters with Jimmy Nelson (8-15, 4.50) in his 32nd start of the season. The right-hander last started Sept. 21 against Pittsburgh in a 4-1 loss, going five innings and allowing four runs on six hits.He was 5-3 with a 2.88 ERA in his first 11 starts and is 3-12 with a 5.65 ERA in his last 20. The club is 12-19 in his starts. Nelson has never faced the Rangers. Luke Glendening Red Wings Jersey . The 27-year-old overtook the previous record of 1,045 registered by Zimbabwean, and former England coach, Andy Flower in 2000, during the second innings of Englands first Test against Bangladesh in Chittagong and currently stands on 1,118 at the conclusion of that series - a figure topped by no-one in world cricket so far this year.Ahead of the first Test between India and England, live on Sky Sports, we take a look back at some of the highlights of Bairstows 2016 so far and hear about them from the man himself… Bairstows Career Stats Tests Innings Not Outs Highest Runs Average Hundreds 33 56 5 167no 2,083 40.84 3 Bairstows Key 2016 Stats Tests Innings Not Outs Highest Runs Average Hundreds 12 20 3 167no 1,118 65.76 3 New Year FireworksTalk about starting the year with a bang! Jonny Bairstow told Ian Ward about his emotional maiden Test century Bairstow described day two of the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town as probably the best day of his life after he clubbed a maiden Test century and shared a record sixth-wicket stand with Ben Stokes (258). Bairstow was unbeaten on 150 from 191 balls when Alastair Cook declared on 629-6 having shared a staggering partnership of 399 with Stokes. He cut a visibly emotional figure after reaching three figures with a boundary. Bairstow looks to the heavens after completing his first Test century What Jonny said: There have been a lot of ups and downs so it is a special day, not just for myself but the people and my family that have helped me along the way. It was always going to be emotional, with my grandpa passing away last year and it approaching the anniversary of my dads death, so I am delighted to score my century in the New Years Test. Its great to play Test cricket - it tests you all the way through, so to come out with 150 is hopefully the start of a long career.A Heady TriumphBairstow had a Headingley homecoming to remember, scoring crisply in conditions that troubled others to rack up 140 out of a total of 298 while batting at seven. The Verdict panel compares Jonny Bairstow to Adam Gilchrist In short, he appeared to be playing a different game despite coming to the wicket with England in a whole heap of trouble at 83-5 and steering the innings to safety with Alex Hales (86) offering solid, if less fluent assistance. The only blip came when he had 70 when Nuwan Pradeep shelled a return catch. Anderson rather took the headlines at the close of play after obliterating Sri Lanka with 5-16 before stumps but the stunning stat of the day was that Bairstow, in four innings at Headingley for county and country in 2016, had scored 589 runs at an average of 147.25. Home is where the runs are: Bairstow scores heavily at Headingley What Jonny said: I didnt tell myself too much when I came in at 83-5 - you dont want to change too much about the way you have been pplaying so I didnt consciously adapt anything.dddddddddddd I was slightly nervous in the nineties - if youre not in that situation then I think theres something wrong with you - but thankfully I was able get over the line. The runs Hales scored and the length of time he batted was imperative for us as we set a total that helped us win the game.Lauded at LordsBairstow was averaging over 106 in his six Test appearances of 2016 after racking up an unbeaten 167 at the Home of Cricket after once again going in with England struggling, on 86-4. Bairstow reflects on a special innings at Lords The No 6 had his own moments of fortune - principally when he was dropped on 11 by Shaminda Eranga at mid-wicket. Bairstow found an admirable foil as he went about compiling his second score of over 150 in Tests in Chris Woakes, who completed his maiden Test fifty to help England up to and beyond the 400 mark only for the match to eventually fizzle out into a draw because of rain. On the board: Bairstow makes his mark at HQ What Jonny said: In the past I was over-analysing things and getting far too technical. Now, though, I am standing relaxed at the crease, watching the ball, and letting the flow of the bat go through the ball. I used to play the ball slightly further in front of me and push at the ball, but now I am playing it underneath my eye line a bit later. Its been a journey - Ive gone away, worked on things, re-evaluated and trusted myself. If I get left out now Ive gone about it the way I want to go about it, not how other people want to go about it. Ferrari boss Maurizio Arrivabene says it was impossible for Kimi Raikkonen to claim a Malaysian Grand Prix podium after he sustained damage in a collision with Nico Rosberg in Sepang.Rosberg barged past Raikkonen while the pair diced for position late in the race, bumping into the side of the Finns car and removing part of his front wing. Rosberg was handed a 10-second time penalty for the incident -- something Mercedes boss Toto Wolff labelled complete nonsense -- but was able to open enough of a gap over Raikkonen in the final laps to claim third position.Ferrari boss Arrivabene says the damage Raikkonen sustained meant he could not keep within the ten-second margin of Rosberg at the end.In the impact with Nico, he lost part of the floor and lost part of the front wing, said Arrivabene. From the calculations we have now with the engineers, he lost more or less 10 points [of downforce] - so it was quite impossible for him to catch up in this situation. But having said so, he was making a very good lap even with damage in the car. We tried from the pitwall to do all our best also with the strategy, but the others were doing the same - we were aggressive, they were aggressive, we slowed down, they slowed down.So it is a pity that Kimi was not able to go to the podium. But after the impact, all the chances they were gone. Not making the podium was especially damaging for Ferrari as Red Bull claimed the maximum 43 points with a one-two, a huge boost in the battle for second in the championship. The other Ferrari did not make it past the opening sequence of corners, with Sebastian Vettel also colliding with Rosberg at Turn 1 and retiring from the race. Nike Tn 2018 .
