Brisbane Roar veteran Jade North reckons its unfair to pin all the blame on Michael Theo for the goal they conceded in their 1-1 draw with Adelaide United last week.Theo is under pressure to retain his spot in goal for Saturdays A-League clash against Sydney FC after failing to stop a simple glancing header from Sergi Guardiola that ultimately cost Brisbane a fourth consecutive win.The 35-year-old has emerged this season as the Roars clear number one goalkeeper but back-up Jamie Young is waiting in the wings if coach John Aloisi decides to make a change.Centre-back North, however, said he felt the move that led to the goal shouldnt have been allowed to happenI look at it maybe two or three passes before that, North told reporters. We probably should have put some pressure on the boy that crossed it in.These things happen, weve just got to pick ourselves up from that, learn from it and well be better for it.I was very disappointed (to draw) because I felt we were very comfortable. Adelaide are a good side, theyve got players that can hurt you just like they did on the weekend.Young made 20 A-League appearances last season but has only been used sparingly since Theos return to full fitness.Theo is off contract at the end of this season but Young signed a two-year extension earlier this year to keep him in Brisbane until 2018.Meanwhile, the Roar was visited by rugby league royalty on Tuesday as they prepare to ditch their usual home colours for an all-maroon strip on Saturday to drum up their rivalry with the ladder-leading Sky Blues.North presented Queensland great Billy Moore - the inventor of the famous Queenslander! war cry - with the special jersey, which will also be worn in future away matches. It doesnt matter if its rugby league, football or marbles - when sky blue plays maroon, everyone north of the Tweed cares, said Moore.Hopefully with a bit of maroon in their uniform they can really lift, the Queensland crowd will get behind them. The speculation went into meltdown mode, of the golden nugget variety. Adam Butler Jersey . -- The proud fathers huddled near the Dallas Stars dressing room, smiling, laughing and telling stories while wearing replica green sweaters of their sons team. The happy feeling over a satisfying performance can go take a hike. Its time to deliver. With the Asian Champions Trophy in Kuantan, Malaysia less than a week away, chief coach Roelant Oltmans asserts that its time for talent to translate into performance and good performances to turn into great results. The time to be happy over a performance is over, its now time for results, he said, ahead of the national mens hockey teams departure for the October 20-30 tournament. With injuries costing the side some of its most seasoned and valuable personnel - SV Sunil, VR Raghunath and Manpreet Singh - a clutch of youngsters like Affan Yousuf and Lalit Upadhyay will be looking to make an impression. Everyone in the current group has to show they deserve their place, adds Oltmans, There are a couple of youngsters who will push them hard and are waiting for their chance. Its an ideal moment for them to show theyre ready to take the next step forward. Talent cant stay talent anymore. We need them to be top players who perform consistently.India, ranked sixth in the world, will be the obvious favourites in the tournament, which is into its fourth edition and is being staged after a gap of two years. The other four countries ?Pakistan, Korea, China and Malaysia ?who will feature in the event, find themselves close together in the rankings between the 11th and 14th positions. While conceding that hes yet to make his peace with the gaping void in the forward line in the absence of Sunil, known for his quick bursts of speed, ruled out on Friday due to a wrist injury, skipper PR Sreejesh says hes comforted by the return of defender Birendra Lakra into the side. Im really happy to have Lakra back but I think hell take time to adjust to the atmosphere. Its tough when youre returning to the national team in a major event after an injury, theres always added pressure. Injuries aside, we are in good shape and have been carrying this core group for last three years; so everyone in the side knows their particular role. While an eighth place finish at the Rio Games in August this year wasnt the ideal position the Indian team was hoping to find themselvves in, what confounds Sreejesh is that the worry areas - conceding last-minute goals, missing opportunities in the circle, penalty corner conversions and defensive lapses - arent new or unknown.dddddddddddd. I dont know why its happening. We have been working really hard on these issues over the last few years but we continue to make similar mistakes. We will try to rectify them in this tournament. An Argentina vs Belgium Olympic final was possibly the least expected match-up, one that Oltmans attributes to a radical change in the international field of competition over the past few years, leading to a narrowing divide between the top three sides of the world and the rest of the countries. There are more teams now who are capable of beating the traditional top sides in the world. We are in that group of 8-9 teams who can compete in every tournament for the highest position, he says.India will play Pakistan for the first time in six months on October 23, the last instance that the two arch-rivals faced each other was also in Malaysia at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. India won that match 5-1. Observing that Pakistan are a talented and competitive side, Oltmans said, We face them in our third match so have some time to see them play and analyse based on their tactics and approach and come up with our best plan to beat them.Leaving for the tournament well ahead will offer the side enough scope to adjust to a slightly different time zone, weather conditions and also try out new combinations, Oltmans adds. One of the areas were putting a lot of effort in is the attacking actions, we have many circle penetrations, many goal-scoring opportunities but in the end we arent scoring enough.Being the top Asian hockey nation also brings with it the added pressure to live up to the billing, one that the coach believes is essential to fuel a good performance. I hope the boys are under pressure to not just perform but to win, he says, Playing the top six Asian countries is our chance to prove where we truly belong. ' ' '

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Rookie Dak Prescott is stating an impressive case to remain the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.Hes off to quite the start in his NFL career after taking over following veteran Tony Romos preseason back injury.Prescott threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns, and the Cowboys forced four turnovers in a 30-16 win over the Green Bay Packers and their dysfunctional offense Sunday.Prescott was 18 of 27 and shook off two fumbles and an interception to lead the Cowboys (5-1) to their fifth straight win.You just couldnt ask for more inspiration from a player because everybody on this team knows what a difficult position that is to play, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said.Prescott showed poise in the fourth quarter while marching the Cowboys on a seven-play, 75-yard drive that ended with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Cole Beasley for an 18-point lead with 10:26 left.Romo seems to be getting closer to returning. After a bye, Dallas next plays on Oct. 30 against Philadelphia.Asked if Prescott would remain the starter against the Eagles even if Romo was ready, Jones only said, I wouldnt say unequivocally anything other than we just beat the Green Bay Packers in Green Bay.Prescott picked on a Packers secondary that played much of the game without their top three cornerbacks because of injuries. His fourth-quarter touchdown pass left Packers fans at Lambeau stunned. They were booing at times following another choppy game for Green Bays offense. The four turnovers were a season high for Green Bay (3-2).Frankly, the biggest thing on offense ... is turning the ball over, coach Mike McCarthy said. Its not part of our fiber. The Packers had five fumbles on the day, losing three.BOO BIRDSEven two- NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers wasnt immune from the jeering. Rodgers finished 31 of 42 for a season-high 294 yards.Look, were upset, theyre upset, its part of it, Rodgers said of the booing. Its not the first time. Probably wont be the last time. The Packers didnt get into the end zone until Rodgers and Cobb connected on a 6-yard touchdown pass with 6:53 left to get within 27-16.Rodgers accounted for two turnovers with an interception to go with a fumble on first-and-goal at the Cowboys 1 with 1:10 left in the third quarter. It was a designed draw play out of an empty backfield.RECORD STREAK OVERPrescott threw the first interception of his career after he was picked off on third-and-8 from the Dallas 6, throwing out of his end zone with 20 seconds left in third quarter. Safety Morgan Burnett had the diving interception.Prescotts NFL record streak for a quarterback at the start of his career without an interception ended at 176 pass attempts. He broke the mark of 162 previously held by New Englands Tom Brady earlier in the game.We get that out of the way now, Prescott said with a laugh. Another one to start up.OUT OF SYNCDrops were a problem again at times for Packers receivers. Timing may have been off on a couple other throws.Rodgers and McCarthy said the Packers would figure out the problems after watching the film. Were hard on ourselves, and Im as hard as anybody on myself. So Im going to get it fixed. Just been a little bit off, Rodgers said.It was Green Bays worst defeat at home with Rodgers as the starting quarterback since a 37-20 loss to the Giants in the 2011 NFC divisional playoffs.STRENGTH VS. STRENGTHDallas dented Green Bays league-best run defense. The Cowboys rushed for 93 yards in the first half against the Packers, which was already a season high against Green Bay. The Packers had been allowing 42.8 yards per game entering Sunday.Dallas was averaging a league-best 155.2 yards per game.Rookie Ezekiel Elliott finished with 157 yards on 28 carries, giving him 703 yards rushing -- the second-most in a players first six career games, behind only Eric Dickerson (787). Elliott also became the only rookie to rush for at least 130 yards in four consecutive games.INJURY REPORTCowboys: CB Morris Claiborne left with a concussion after getting hurt in the second quarter.Packers: The Packers thin secondary, which was already without CBs Sam Shields (concussion) and Quinten Rollins (groin), lost cornerback Damarious Randall in the second quarter after he re-aggravated a groin injury. ... WR Davante Adams left in the third quarter to be evaluated for a concussion. ... The Mariners have lost 10 of 13.Martin Perez (10-10) allowed four runs -- two earned -- and seven hits in six innings to win for the third time in his last 13 starts. Sam Dyson pitched the ninth for his 32nd save. The Rangers snapped a 4-4 tie with three runs in the fifth. Lucroy chased Paxton with his ninth homer since joining the Rangers -- he had 13 with Milwaukee prior to the Aug. 1 trade. Drew Storen relieved and gave up doubles to Andrus and pinch-hitter Mitch Moreland.I threw some good pitches and got the strikeouts, obviously, and that was good, said Paxton, adding that he was not bothered by a fingernail torn in his previous start. I just fell behind some guys and came to the middle part of the zone, and they got some hits.Andrus opened the seventh with his fifth home run off Arquimedes Caminero to make it 8-4. Seattle cut it to 8-6 in the bottom on a bases-loaded walk to Kyle Seager and Leonys Martins sacrifice fly.Andrus added an RBI double in the eighth. Seth Smith answered with a pinch-hit homer in the bottom half, his 12th, to make it 9-7. Lucroy drew a bases-loaded walk in the ninth for the final run.Theyve got a damaging offense, also. They can grind some at-bats out and thats kind of what theyyve done all year long, Rangers manager Jeff Banister said.dddddddddddd. It felt like that was going to be the last-man-standing type of game, where whoever was going to be able to get the most outs without giving up damage was going to come away the winning ballclub.Seager pulled the Mariners even in the third with a two-run homer, his 26th, matching his career high set last season. One of Paxtons four first-inning strikeouts cost him a run. Ian Desmond struck out, but reached on a wild pitch. Carlos Beltran singled him to third and Adrian Beltre punched an opposite-field dribbler into right for an RBI single.Texas, which leads the AL West by 8 1/2 games, had a season-high seven doubles among its 15 hits and won for the eighth time in 10 games.SEAGER HOT VS. LOS ANGELES -- After losing the first two games of the season at home, UConn was in danger of dropping its third straight. But a late rally ignited the Huskies to their first win of the season.Terry Larrier scored 14 points, including the go-ahead basket, and UConn held on to beat Loyola Marymount 65-62 on Thursday night. We were scrambling a bit at the end and we were running on an empty tank, Larrier said. At the end of the game we were trying to stop them from getting open-look 3s and its definitely nice to get that first win.Although the Huskies (1-2) trailed much of the second half, Larriers basket with 2:22 to play gave UConn a 63-62 lead. Jalen Adams, a sophomore guard, added two free throws with 20 seconds left to give UConn a cushion.Brandon Browns 3-point attempt at the buzzer would have forced overtime for the Lions (1-2), but his shot hit off the rim and the Huskies escaped with their first win of the season. It was a grind it out game, UConn coach Kevin Ollie said. Its good to get on the victory trail. We did not finish a lot of shots. We missed a lot of layups and we need to improve our transition game. We had too many turnovers and we have to fix that. But our guys believed in themselves, trusted each other and didnt stop playing.Kelvin Amayo -- a transfer from Iona who was granted a sixth year waiver following knee surgery -- led LMU with 18 points. Amayo made 5 of 12 shots and 8 of 11 free throws. He also pulled down six rebounds for the Lions. Buay Tuach scored 12 points and Brown added 10 points for LMU.Amida Brimah scored 9 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for UConn. We started out strong in the first half but finished the half sloppy, Brimah said. At halftime we made adjustments and when we took the court in the second half we had confidence we were going to win. The Huskies started the season ranked 18th but fell out of the polls after a pair of setbacks against Wagner and Northeastern. Both teams showed offensive spurts in the opening half but neither team maintained them.Alterique Gilbert led the Huskies with 10 points in the first half, but dislocated his left shoulder after colliding with a defender while chasing a loose ball late in the half. He remained down on the court for several minutes before the training staff led him off to the locker room. He did not return. We definitely had good defensive pressure as a team, Vital said. This was a must win for our team. Were a young team and we faced adversity.Ollie said Gilbert reinjured the shoulder he previously hurt and will be examined when the team gets to Hawaii on Friday.BIG PICTUREUConn: Thursday was the third game of a hectic beginning to the 2016-17 season, which the Huskies will play seven games in 20 days and also take a 10,200-mile road trip during that span.LMU: The Lions coach, former NBA coach Mike Dunlap, figures to improve LMUs 14-17 record from a year ago. JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- Carson-Newman coach Ken Sparks has retired, ending a 37-season career in which he won 338 games to rank fifth on the NCAAs all-time list. Its been an unbelievable journey, Sparks said Monday during a news conference at the athletic complex that has been named after him.The only coaches with more career wins are John Gagliardi (489), Joe Paterno (409), Eddie Robinson (408) and Bobby Bowden (377). Sparks went 338-99-2 and had the most wins of any active coach.Sparks, 72, had continued coaching even after announcing in 2012 that he had cancer. Sparks said Monday that he was at peace and indicated his health issues played a role in his decision to retire now.Last week, after missing three days of practice and being in the hospital four straight days, I said `Im not a very good football coach. These guys deserve a better coach, Sparks said. Thats how the decision came about. My goal was, and youve heard me say this before, my goal was to die on the practice field and they roll me over in the kudzu and (his wife) Carol wouldnt have to worry about funeral arrangements. Carson-Newman was an NAIA runner-up in 1987 and lost in the NCAA Division II championship game in 1996, 1998 and 1999. Carson-Newman reached the Division II semifinals in 2009.Sparks teams won 21 South Atlantic Conference championships and earned 25 NCAA or NAIA playoff appearances.Carson-Newman went 4-7 this year, only the second losing season in Sparks career.Sparks was inducted into the inaugural NCAA Division II Hall of Fame coaches class in 2010 along with Northwest Missouri States Mel Tjeerdsma and West Alabamas Bobby Wallace. Sparks also is in the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame and the NAIA Hall of Fame. This is a day that none of us looked forward to as Carson-Newman football fans and supporters, but its a day we honor and a day we rejoice in, Carson-Newman athletic director Allen Morgan said. SPRINGFIELD, N.J. -- Dustin Johnson looked nothing like a major champion Thursday in the opening round of the PGA.The U.S. Open winner shot 77, including three straight bogey 5s, two double bogeys, and a bogey 6 on the 18th hole that nearly everyone was birdieing. In all, Johnson beat five players, three of them club pros, and pretty much played his way out of contention while paired with British Open champ Henrik Stenson (3-under 67) and Masters winner Danny Willett (1 over).Things went poorly from the start for Johnson, who just last week in the Canadian Open tied for second place, and has been on a tear for much of 2016. Aside from his emphatic victory at Oakmont for his first major, Johnson followed with a victory at Firestone and a ninth at the British Open. He also has made a tour-leading 25 consecutive PGA Tour cuts -- dating to the Honda Classic in March 2015, which he immediately put behind him by winning at Doral. That Johnson was nowhere to be seen in the brutal heat at Baltusrol. He didnt wilt so much as fall apart pretty much from the outset.Nothing worked. Not his prodigious driving skills; he was all over the place and hit only seven of 14 fairways. Not his scrambling; he even left a long bunker shot in the sand on No. 11. Not his approach shots; Johnson got on only 55.5 percent of the greens in regulation. And certainly not his putting. He ranked 138th on the greens. His black attire seemed appropriate for such a round. He had a couple of bad drives, Stenson said of Johnson. A couple of bad tee shots led to some bogeys. And then he missed a fairway bunker shot on 11 and wrapped up with a 6.Stenson noted it could happen tto anyone, even the second-ranked player in the world.ddddddddddddYeah, its major golf, the first major champion from Sweden added. Its a tough course. If youre not playing your best, its going to show up, and I think thats normal. If you are playing well, you can shoot a score. But if youre struggling and hit a couple of loose ones, its easy to go the other way.He just didnt have a good day out there. We all know what hes capable of doing with a golf ball and on a golf course. Im sure hell bounce back shortly.Johnson, playing for a third straight week for the third time this season, will need to bounce back in a big way Friday to sniff making the cut.Thats hardly where Johnson could have envisioned hed stand when he spoke on Wednesday. Asked about his consistency in major championships the last three years -- eight Top-10s, one win -- he said:Well, I like the majors, and I feel like they are always played on really tough golf courses, which I feel like I do very well on really hard golf courses where pars are good scores, where youve got to drive it in the fairway, youve got to hit it on the green. You know, youve really got to control your ball.I feel like it keeps me mentally in it longer. When Im on really tough golf courses, I feel like Im more focused because Im really trying to hit the ball to a certain spot, instead of a lot of times when I struggle sometimes is just staying mentally focused on every shot. The focus was gone Thursday, and with it likely went Johnsons chances to win a second major. China Jerseys Cheap . A knee to the thigh might have stung him the most, but his sixth straight double-double made up for the brief burst of pain. Auburn and LSU played the last weekend of September and both coaches were under pressure. The ugly game had a bizarre ending. The next day LSU fired coach Les Miles, while Auburn and Gus Malzahn were feeling fortunate to be 2-2.Now its November and both SEC West Tigers are in the race not only for a conference championship, but perhaps a spot in the College Football Playoff.No. 15 LSU hosts No. 1 Alabama on Saturday for what amounts to an elimination game for the Tigers. On the way to visit a friend last month, Naje Murray pulled over to the side of the road. She felt lost, but it wasnt because she didnt know the route by heart. Her mom had just called and delivered the news that Murray had been dreading.Murray needed ACL surgery on her right knee, meaning shed miss most, if not all, of her upcoming senior basketball season at St. Marys High School in Stockton, California.I lost it, said Murray, a 5-foot-6 shooting guard on a St. Marys team that has won 57 of its past 58 games. To say I was sobbing is an understatement.Murrays injury occurred on July 3 while playing AAU ball for her Cal Stars team in a tournament in Oregon. Murray went up to block a shot, but her knee buckled immediately after landing. It was a freak accident, said Murray, 17. I fell and I screamed.A parent and two Oregon State University trainers carried Murray off the court, and she saw her knee swell almost immediately.Despite fearing the worst, Murray says she was in denial, strapping on a knee brace and warming up for every game the Cal Stars played in their next tournament, in Tennessee. Even though she was limping around, she got in for a couple of minutes each game. But during a July 18 practice, Murray reinjured her knee. Enough was enough.Murray underwent an MRI on July 21, and the news she received later that day devastated her.She gathered herself enough, however, to send a group text to her high school teammates, letting them know what had happened. At first I thought she was joking, said Jada Moss, a sophomore guard at St. Marys. I didnt want to believe it. I said, Are you serious? She was our shooter. Now were going to have to change a lot of things and work even harder.Tom Gonsalves, who has coached St. Marys to an incredible 119-11 record over the past four years, said Murrays injury is a major loss. Its just sad because she is so passionate about the game, Gonsalves said. Shes a really good 3-point shooter, an outstanding athlete and a phenomenal leader.Shes a tough kid. Even though its difficult for her to handle not playing, there is no question she will rebound from this.Gonsalves paid Murray a huge compliment by comparing her leadership skills to those of former St. Marys and Duke guard Chelsea Gray, who is now playing in the WNBA with the Los Angeles Sparks.Other than Chelsea, we havent had too many kids arrive on campus with Najes ability to lead others, Gonsalves said. Naje knows how to compete. And when you talk to her, its like youre talking to an adult.Moss said Murray is a very caring person. But Murray -- like most teenagers -- also is prone to the occasional goofy decision.Such was the case in March, when the girls went to a Panda Express drive-through. Murray, though, changed her mind and decided she wanted to eat inside the restaurant -- so she backed up, damaging the right rear tire on her white Ford Fusion, which hit the median. That minor issue aside, Murrays choices are usually on point. She has a 4.2 GPA and is interested in studying criminal justice; she is interested in a career as an FBI profiler.Murray grew up rooting for the Los Angeles Lakers. Among college teams, she used to cheer for Stanford, but she said Stanfords style of play is too slow for her now.I put San Diego State No. 1, Murray said, and everyone else who has offered me [a basketball scholarship] is tied for second right now.Murray said she and her father, an assistant football coach and defensive coordinator at a California junior college (San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton), will talk it out and settle on five schools to visit this fall before signing during the November early period. But theres more to Murray than just basketball. Last month, she and her family visited the childhood home of the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. The visit to Kings home and former church inspired Murray, whose mother, Natalia, is black, and whose father, Doug, is white. Like a lot of teens, she went to social media to share her thoughts.Shes not shy about sharing such thoughts on the stunning end to her junior season at St. Marys either. Ranked No. 1 in the nation, St. Marys was on the losing end of one of the biggest upsets in California girls basketball history, falling 72-69 to Pinewood (Los Altos, California) in the California Interscholastic Federation Open Division regional semifinals. If we played Pinewood 100 times, we would have beaten them 99, Murray said. But on that night, they were on fire. I think if they had shot backward, they would have made every one.We underrated them, and we deserved to lose. That overconfidence, Murray said, stemmed from the fact that St. Marys had beaten Pinewood by about 25 points in the summer. And St. Marys was missing two of its best players, MiCole Cayton and Kat Tudor, when it won that summer game. Now those stars are off to college -- Cayton to Cal and Tudor to Oregon State -- and Murray, of course, is injured. But St. Marys still has 6-2 forward Aquira DeCosta, the No. 6 prospect in the espnW HoopGurlz rankings for the 2018 class. With Aquiras inside presence and how well Naje shoots outside, we had a good thing going, Gonsalves said. Losing Naje, if indeed we lose her, will impact us quite a lot.Murray hopes St. Marys can capture that feeling it had last season, when the bond among teammates was unbreakable. Not even the final loss broke their friendship.Last year was the best year of basketball Ive ever had, Murray said. We had two superstars who were big-time Pac-12 recruits, and yet we were still this close and tightly connected as a team.We had a lot of hate on us because we were No. 1 in the nation. But it was a cool thing. As soon as we walked into a [road] gym, everyone almost got silent. They knew who we were. We heard them whisper. It blew our heads up a bit -- Im not going to lie. But most of the time, we were like, Hey, were just a bunch of normal teenage girls. St. Marys might be a bit more normal this coming season without Tudor, Cayton and -- temporarily at least -- Murray. But Murray promises she wont abandon her team.I will be there at every practice and at every game, Murray said. Everyone is expecting that St. Marys wont be that good this year. But I told the girls, Hey, we need to dig down deep. Randy Carlyle Jersey . Online trolls continue to attack him but Olympic champion Mack Horton says he has no regrets over his controversial Rio Games campaign.Horton revealed he was still copping hate on social media after branding Sun Yang a drug cheat at Rio before triumphing over his Chinese rival to claim 400m freestyle gold. And the 20-year-old did not expect it to go away any time soon as he prepared to return to the pool at this weeks national short course titles in Brisbane.Asked if he would have done anything differently at Rio in hindsight, Horton told AAP: Not a thing.I would do everything exactly the same.I liked the way it all turned out.Horton was still adamant he had helped champion the need for clean sport in Rio by targeting Sun, who had served a secret three-month ban in 2014 for a banned stimulant. But clearly it came at a cost.Horton was provided a not so subtle reminder that Suns outraged fans still had it in for him recently.Horton was inundated by vile responses when he revealed he had a cancerous mole removed from his chest thanks to a tip from an eagle-eyed fan.Horton copped it after using Twitter and Instagram to thank the fan who had emailed the swim team doctor to say the Olympic champ should get the mole checked. It was pretty crazy. I knew I had to eventually get it checked out because I had noticed it grow, but this person saying I should do it really made me finally go out and check it, Horton said of his recent surgery. The social media flak? It doesnt really bother me.I am still on Twitter and Instagram and still copping hate but I guess I am used to it now.I am pretty addicted to it (social media), but I dont even see that (trolling) any more.Horton had plenty of time to grasp what he had achieved in Rio on a five-week European holiday with his girlfriend. But Horton reckoned he may never fully comprehend the fact he claimed 400m gold on Olympic debut.I am not even close to getting my head around it, he said.Especially now because I havent swum for a while.I dont think I will realise until I finish swimming. SALT LAKE CITY -- Troy Williams grew up 15 miles from Southern Californias campus but said he wasnt recruited by the Trojans despite being ranked the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the country by Rivals. On Friday night, the Utah quarterback showed the storied program what it missed.Williams threw for 270 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score in No. 24 Utahs 31-27 comeback victory over USC.The Utes roared back in spectacular fashion with Tim Patrick catching an 18-yard touchdown pass at the pylon with 16 seconds remaining to cap a 15-play, 93-yard drive. Patrick had his third 100-yard receiving game of the season.USC, thats my hometown, said Williams, who is from Carson, California. Growing up watching Reggie Bush, Carson Palmer and Mike Williams and all those dudes, just sitting at home watching on TV and imagining maybe one day Ill play with them or against them. Today was that day.The Trojans controlled most of the game and had a 27-17 fourth-quarter lead, but Utah (4-0, 1-0 Pac-12) scored 14 straight points. Coach Clay Helton decided to punt on fourth-and-3 from the Utah 37-yard line on the possession before the winning drive. USC fell to 1/3 for the first time since 2001.I thought it was tonight, said Helton when asked about getting over the hump. Ill be honest with you. I thought the attitude and the competitiveness was great. Im heartbroken for them. If they compete like they did tonight, theyre going to win a lot of games.Utah attempted to control the game on the ground early against the No. 98 run defense in the country, but USC tightened up and forced the Utes to win through the air.USCs Sam Darnold threw for 253 yards and ran for a touchdown in his first career start after replacing Max Browne.Refused to quit, just kept fighting the entire 60 minutes, Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said. Made play after play after play at the end there when we had to make plays.Nobody panicked. Just kept doing our thing.THE TAKEAWAYUSC: The Trojans are in serious trouble. There were already whispers that Helton was on the hot seat, but blowing a 10-point lead in the final quarter may solidify that. Darnold was an upgrade, but USC is now 0-2 in conference.UTAH: Friday was the first true test for the Utes and they passed -- barely. The run game started hot with 132 yards in the first half, but faded fast and continued to have ball-control issues with two fumbles. The defense allowed the most yards it has all season (466), but bowed up in the fourth quarter when the team absolutely needed it.INJURY UPDATEUtah starting cornerback Dominique Hatfield played in his first game of the year. Hed been sidelined with an undisclosed leg injury. The Utes lost 2015 first team All-Pac-12 tackle Lowell Lotulelei to an unknown injury before halftime and did not return.FANCYThe Utes wore new black helmets that were individually hand painted by an artist. The design mimics a granite texture and no two are identical as each has its own serial number painted on the helmet.POLL IMPLICATIONSUSC: The Trojans will continue to stay out of the poll. They didnt receive a single vote last week.Utah: The Utes could move up a couple spots depending on what happens in front of them because of a 4-0 start. A win over USC, however, wont get a lot of points from voters.QUOTABLEWatching them drive the ball down kind of crushed our soul, USC receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster said.UP NEXTUSC: The Trojans return home to host Arizona State (3-0, 0-0) in a Pac-12 South showdown Oct. 1.UTAH: The Utes travel to face California (2-1, 0-0) in Pac-12 action on Oct. 1. OKLAHOMA CITY -- Russell Westbrook recorded his 44th career triple-double Saturday night, moving past Fat Lever and into a tie with LeBron James for sixth all time.Theres a catch, though: Westbrook did it in 395 fewer games than James.Asked what it means to be in such company, Westbrook said, I mean, nothing. Im happy we won -- thats the most important part for me. But I definitely dont take anything for granted. Like I said, every night I step on the floor I try to compete at a high level and [am] thankful I can play the game I love every night.Westbrook finished with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 15 assists in the Oklahoma City Thunders 106-88 win over the Detroit Pistons?on Saturday night. It was Westbrooks seventh triple-double this season and his fourth in the past six games. There have been 14 total triple-doubles in the NBA this season. Last season, Westbrook finished with 18, the most in one season since Magic Johnson in 1981-82. Westbrook is on pace for 33 triple-doubles this season, which would be the most since Oscar Robertson had 41 in 1961-62.Its a combination of me getting better as a player and also being patient, Westbrook said. Before, it was a little different, because I was not as effective at finishing around the basket, but now Im able to get down to the basket and make plays for my teammates.Ahead of Westbrook on the career triple-doubles leaderboard are Larry Bird (59), Wilt Chamberlain (78), Jason Kidd (107), Johnson (138) and Robertson (181). Robertson, of course, is the last player to average a triple-double for an entire season.Through 18 games, Westbrook sits at 31.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 11.1 assists. To put up those numbers, the people that are in that category, hes a Hall of Fame player, Thunder coach Billy Donovan said. I mean, thats really what he is. Hes a Hall of Fame player. And its really remarkable what hes doing.ddddddddddddWestbrook doesnt scrape by with triple-doubles, either, making it a trademark to supersize them into eye-popping stat lines. In his 44 triple-doubles, hes averaging 25.3 points, 11.8 rebounds and 12.9 assists. For perspective, in Kidds 107 triple-doubles, he averaged 17.5 points, 11.3 rebounds and 12.2 assists.Hes extremely rare, just because Ive never seen a player be able to impact the game in the amount of ways he can impact it, Donovan said. And I mean that from a standpoint of analytically or statistically. Hes impacting our team in terms of his leadership, he impacts our team raising our energy, he raises when were down. ... He can do so many different things. I think thats why he plays so fearlessly, because he knows there are ways for him [to impact the game]. Hes not just a one-way limited player. As ESPNs Tom Haberstroh recently noted, Westbrook also is playing a slower-paced game than Robertson did in his triple-double season. On average, Westbrooks team is playing about 25 fewer possessions per game than Robertsons did.Westbrook doesnt like talking about his historic numbers, always returning to the most important result -- winning. But for the most part, thats what the Thunder do when he records a triple-double. Theyre now 38-6 in his triple-double games, including 5-2 this season. As a coach you feel very, very blessed and fortunate to be able to work with someone like that every single day, just because he takes it so seriously, Donovan said. He cares so much about the team, and winning.According to ESPN Stats & Information, at his current clip, Westbrook would pass Bird for fifth all time sometime in mid-January. ' ' '

Oregons Vernon Adams showed last year the difference a graduate transfer can make for his new team.Adams, a Championship Subdivision star at Eastern Washington, transferred to Oregon for his final year of eligibility and played exceptionally when he wasnt dealing with injuries. Adams threw for 2,643 yards and 26 touchdowns with only six interceptions to lead all Bowl Subdivision performers in passing efficiency.Adams has completed his eligibility and wont be back this season, but plenty of graduates across the country are attempting to make the same kind of impact he produced a year ago.The controversy surrounding defensive back Maurice Smiths move within the Southeastern Conference exemplifies how much attention these types of moves are getting. Smith has graduated from Alabama and moved on to Georgia, but Alabama initially blocked the move before the school and SEC officials eventually granted his release. Here are some notable graduate transfers for the 2016 season (coincidentally, the list includes someone attempting to replace Adams at Oregon):- Alabama wide receiver Gehrig Dieter (Bowling Green). Dieter caught 94 passes for 1,038 yards and 10 touchdowns last season for Bowling Green. Dieter showed he could produce against Southeastern Conference competition by catching seven passes for 133 yards and a touchdown in a season-opening loss to Tennessee. The presence of Dieter and returning receivers Calvin Ridley and ArDarius Stewart plus tight end O.J. Howard should provide plenty of capable targets Alabamas starting quarterback. This is Dieters third school. He began his college career at SMU before transferring to Bowling Green.- Texas A&M quarterback Trevor Knight (Oklahoma). Knight was billed as a rising star after capping his 2013 season by leading Oklahoma to a Sugar Bowl upset of Alabama, but he struggled with consistency in 2014 and lost his starting job last year in a preseason competition with Baker Mayfield, who went on to lead the Sooners to a playoff berth. Knight gets a chance to revive his career at Texas A&M, which needed a quarterback following the offseason departures of Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray.- Auburn linebacker T.J. Neal (Illinois) and Illinois linebacker Hardy Nickerson (California). Neal started 25 games for Illinois the last two seasons and followed up a 98-tackle campaign in 2014 by making 109 stops (14 behind the line of scrimmage) last year. Nickerson, the son of former NFL linebacker Hardy Nickerson, was a three-year starter at Cal who had a team-high 112 tackles last season. Nickersons dad is Illinois defensive coordinator.- Oregon quarterback Dakota Prukop (Montana State), One year after Vernon Adams made a successful move from Eastern Washington to Oregon, the Ducks are seeing whether another former Championship Subdivision quarterback can make a similar transition. Prukop had 5,584 yards passing and 1,763 yards rushing in his career at Montana State. He threw for 46 touchdowns and ran for 24 more scores. Prukop arrived at Oregon in time to play in the spring game, where he went 20 of 29 for 190 yards with two touchdown passes of over 30 yards. Prukop is competing with redshirt freshman Travis Jonsen for the starting spot.- Michigan State defensive end Gabe Sherrod (Delaware State). Sherrod had 25 tackles for loss last season, and his 2.3 tackles for loss per game ranked second among all FCS players. Sherrod, a former wide receiver, also had eight sacks and blocked four kicks a year ago. He will use his final season of eligibility at Michigan State, which must replace three-time all-Big Ten selection Shilique Calhoun and Lawrence Thomas at defensive end.- California quarterback Davis Webb (Texas Tech). Webb threw for 5,557 yards, 46 touchdowns and 22 interceptions the last three years at Texas Tech. Webb started six games and threw for 2,718 yards while leading Texas Tech to an 8-5 record his freshman year. But he then struggled with an ankle injury and eventually lost his starting job to Patrick Mahomes. Zion Williamson Jersey . LOUIS -- Theres no telling how these wacky World Series games will end. Derrius Guice showed Saturday night that LSU is in good hands next season if his star backfield teammate, Leonard Fournette, departs early for the NFL.Well, good feet, actually. The Tigers up-and-coming sophomore rushed for a career-high 252 yards on 21 carries in a 38-10 win over Arkansas. And he capped the remarkable performance with a 96-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, the longest play from scrimmage in school history. The previous long run was 94 yards by both Sal Nicoio in 1952 and Jesse Fatheree in 1935, while the longest pass play was also 94 yards -- from Anthony Jennings to Travin Dural in 2014.Guice only had two carries for eight yards a week earlier in a 10-0 loss to top-ranked Alabama, something Tigers coach Ed Orgeron was intent on changing against the Razorbacks. Orgerons belief in the sophomore paid off, with Guice gaining the second most rushing yards in school history -- behind only Fournettes 284-yard performance against Mississippi earlier this season.Guice even got more carries than Fournette on Saturday, and the shifty 5-foot-11, 212-pound running back is likely to be considered more of co-lead in LSUs backfield from here on out.He clearly has the sense of humor to handle the spotlight. The play before (the 96-yard run), I purposely got a run for a loss to get that run, Guice joked. I set it up.Some other notable performances from across the country as college footballs regular season enters its final weeks:AIR WATSON: Clemsons run of success in close games came to an end in a 43-42 loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday night. Despite the setback, Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson added to his record-breaking career by passing for 580 yards --- an Atlantic Coast Conference single-game record.dddddddddddd The junior also set a school record with 52 completions, topping Cullen Harpers total of 38 set in 2007, and became the sixth player in ACC history to top 10,000 career yards of total offense.WILLIMAS DAY: Watson wasnt the only Clemson offensive standout in Saturdays loss. Junior Mike Williams finished with career highs in both catches (15) and receiving yards (202), and the wide receiver now has 67 catches for 956 yards.JONES WATCH: East Carolina wide receiver Zay Jones settled for a marginal game by his 2016 standards on Saturday, catching 12 passes for 173 yards in a 55-31 loss to SMU. Still, the senior is well on pace to break the FBS record for career catches when the Pirates host Navy next week. Jones, who leads the country with 139 receptions this season, currently has 380 catches for his career -- seven away from the record 387 by former teammate Justin Hardy.DIMICKS DAY: Utah defensive end Hunter Dimick took over the national lead with 12 sacks thanks to a school-record five sacks in a 49-26 win over Arizona State on Thursday. The senior also tied the school record for career sacks (27) with his effort, and he had a career-high nine tackles in the win.PICK SEVEN: Florida State defensive back Tarvarus McFadden had his streak of four straight games with an interception snapped in a 45-7 win over Boston College on Friday. That said, the sophomore still leads the country with seven interceptions for the season.---More AP college football at http://collegefootball.ap.org ' ' '

Wallabies playmaker Quade Cooper will spearhead Queensland Reds next season after confirming his return to Ballymore on Thursday.Cooper departed the Reds at the end of the 2015 Super Rugby season to take up a two-year deal with French club Toulon. But he lasted just one season in Europe, with Wallabies coach Michael Cheika playing a leading role in pushing for Coopers return to Australia.Cooper had already signed with the Australian Rugby Union, allowing him to play for the Wallabies in the Rugby Championship, but he had been mulling a decision over his Super Rugby future for some time. The 28-year-old had been weighing up a return to the Reds with a move south to join Melbourne Rebels, but the challenge in helping to rebuild the struggling Queensland club proved too good to ignore. It was a tough decision as I believe the Rebels have a great rugby program with some well-respected coaches and a talented list but I feel that coming home to the Reds is the right move for me at this point, Cooper said via Reds media release. At the time when I decided to leave I felt that I needed a change and to experience something else. When I was away I started to look at my life as a whole. What made rugby enjoyable to me was I got to do it in front of the people I love the most, which is my family and friends and that I got to play for the club that became such a huge part of my life. For me, when I think of rugby and my life I think of the Reds. Its a massive part of my life. Ive been through the low times and the good times at the Reds and I want to be part of putting them back on top. With Wallabies captain Stephen Moore and veteran flanker George Smith also signed for next season, Reds coach Nick Stiles said Coopers recruitment was vital in helping to develop the franchises generation-next.Its pleasing to be able to welcome Quade back to Ballymore. He will add further experience to our squad and is committed to being a significant performer and a leader, as we continue to develop the next generation of Reds. Yeezy 350 Saldi . Vans Outlet .J. -- Marty Brodeur beat the Pittsburgh Penguins yet again. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy, who is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury for Sundays game against the Dolphins, traveled with the team to Miami, a source told ESPNs Jeff Darlington.?McCoy had returned to practice on a limited basis Friday, and coach Rex Ryan said the Bills had yet to rule him out for Sundays game.Well see how it goes, said Ryan, adding McCoy will probably be a game-time decision. Well be smart with him, but he looked pretty good [Friday].McCoy, speaking Friday for the first time since suffering the injury in practice Wednesday, also considered himself a game-time decision.I just felt all right, McCoy said of his return to practice Friday. I didnt do a lot of reps today. Just was real limited, just seeing how I feel.A well-placed source told ESPNs Josina Anderson on Thursday that McCoy will not play?against the Dolphins. McCoy has a history of hamstring injuries.McCoy confirmed that he injured his left hamstring in Wednesdays practice. He also hurt his left hamstring in a training camp practice in August 2015, an injury that lingered into the regular season and evenntually caused him to miss two games in October.ddddddddddddHowever, McCoy said his injury this week was not nearly as bad as [last year]. So thats a good thing.Given McCoys experience with his injury last season, offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn said Thursday that he wants his top running back to be cautious and not play at less than 100 percent, potentially risking reinjury. In addition to McCoy being listed as questionable, the Bills listed wide receiver Robert Woods (foot) and defensive tackle Marcell Dareus (hamstring) as doubtful on their injury report after neither practiced this week.If the Bills are without McCoy, the team is expected to start Mike Gillislee at running back. Marquise Goodwin and Justin Hunter would be expected to take the majority of snaps at receiver if Woods cannot play.Dareus has yet to play this season because of a four-game suspension and the hamstring injury that has kept him out of the past two games.Information from ESPNs Jeff Darlington was used in this report. Everyone knows hes a peach of an NRL player, but all the natural skill in the world still couldnt teach Tyrone Peachey how to tackle in the centres. But season-ending knee injuries to Penriths all-international centre pairing in Dean Whare and Peta Hiku this year meant Peachey had to learn, and learn fast.Id never played there anywhere, even through my juniors, he told AAP.This is the first time. I was pretty nervous the first time I got put there. But with injuries, I was like the fifth or sixth-string centre. I just had to try and do my best. The early results were discouraging. It was against the Warriors. I let in a few tries and went back and did video with (coach Anthony Griffin) and he spoke me through whhat I needed to do, Peachey said.So I watched footage of guys like Dean Whare and Peta Hiku and just tried to replicate what they do.For a bloke whos made a living off his innate talents, its only hours spent on the computer that has resulted in him staying in the starting line-up.Fridays crunch against the Wests Tigers will be Peacheys 10th consecutive game in the centres, easily the longest stretch of consecutive games in one position in his career.Asked how many hours worth of clips he watched, he says: A lot, and mostly defensively. And yet despite the likely return of both New Zealand internationals next season, Peachey is still considering a permanent shift to the flanks. Its tough position. You feel like youre by yourself out there in the centres, theres a lot of space out there and a lot of fast guys, he said. But Im really enjoying it. Im not going to think about next year because weve got two of the best centres in the comp, but I like it out there. Ill just play whatever position Hook wants me to play.Enamoured with his unexpected, though successful, shift to the centres, Peachey, who is signed until the end of 2017, is now considering joining a growing list of players committing to the club long-term.I didnt know what I wanted when I first moved here, he said.I thought I was going to be here for two years then move back to Cronulla. But Penrith grew on me. Ive got a lot of good mates, I love the club and the direction its going on. I dont want to leave. Cheap Nmd China . NAPA, Calif. -- Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie has been given a four-year contract extension, owner Mark Davis announced Friday night at a team alumni dinner. The results and the job that hes done show that he deserves it, Davis told ESPN. He wants to be here, and we want him.Im really happy with where the organization is with Reggie and [coach] Jack [Del Rio] at the top of the chain. Reggie has put together a hell of a staff in player personnel, done a great job on the cap where now we can build a team.McKenzie is entering the final season of the contract he signed when Davis hired him in January 2012, less than three months after Al Davis died, to essentially become Oaklands first GM since the elder Davis came on board in 1963.Part of the job description McKenzie accepted at the time was overseeing a rebuilding project in which he had to deal with what he termed out-of-whack contracts while trying to get thhe team out of salary-cap hell.ddddddddddddThe Raiders have gone 4-12, 4-12, 3-13 and 7-9 in his first four seasons overseeing the team, and McKenzie, a former Raiders linebacker from 1985 through 1988, has hired both Dennis Allen and Del Rio as head coach. Now, as McKenzie begins his fifth season as GM, the Raiders are a fashionable pick to have a winning season and push for a playoff spot for the first time since 2002.Strong recent drafts have yielded the likes of All-Pro linebacker/defensive end Khalil Mack, quarterback Derek Carr and receiver Amari Cooper.?Oakland has become a destination for highly sought-after free agents as Bruce Irvin, Sean Smith, Reggie Nelson and Kelechi Osemele this offseason.I didnt want him to become a free agent, Mark Davis said of McKenzie. GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Jared Cook made news again Friday, and this time it had nothing to do the with the ankle injury that has kept him out of the Green Bay Packers lineup. In fact, it didnt have anything to do with football. This time, it was about chicken wings.Or, in this case, a chicken head. The Packers tight end caused a stir when he tweeted a picture of what he said was a chicken head that came in his takeout order earlier this week from the Buffalo Wild Wings just down the street from Lambeau Field.I had drove there, took it all the way home, got home, started eating the first wing, Cook explained Friday. As I was putting the bone back in the box, I saw the chicken head and immediately spit my food out.The restaurant chain issued a statement Friday: Buffalo Wild Wings takes food preparation, service and quality extremely seriously and we are looking into this situation. Weve reached out to Jared Cook and our suppliers for more information.Cook said he drove back to the restaurant, where he was given a refund and this explanation:They were just, like: Were sorry. Typically, this doesnt happen. That just means your food was fresh, Cook said. OK, that doesnt make it any better.Cook said he eventually plans to become a vegetarian, and his latest experience might help push him in that direction.Seeing as how its one of my favorite foods, I dont see how I can give that up, Cook said. My wife is a vegetarian, and shes strongly encouraging I become one now.I think its good advice. Eventually, I will become one, but not right now. Before he returned his order, he had a little fun with it.In the picture, I dont know if you noticed, but theres a fork stuck in the bottom of it. The first thing I did was, I FaceTimed her and I pretended the chicken head was talking to her via FaceTime. So, she was pretty grossed out.Cook, 29, said hes never had anything like this happen to him before.Ive never had anything that could taste me back in my food ever, Cook said.ESPNs Darren Rovell contributed to this report. Roberto Martinez has vowed to bring the winning feeling back to Everton after relegation-threatened Sunderland inflicted another defeat on the Toffees. Having succumbed to Premier League champions Leicester on Saturday, the Toffees produced a similarly abject performance as Sunderland sealed their top-flight status with a comprehensive 3-0 victory. Carragher on Martinezs future Jamie Carragher says if Everton want to sack Roberto Martinez then they should do it before Sunday When asked whether pressure was getting to his underperforming team, Martinez, who praised his sides intent, voiced his concern as Everton lost for the fourth time in their last five games We need to win football games, when you dont do that (pressure) is normal, he told Sky Sports. You cannot be happy with not winning football games. Im pleased with the effort and the intent of the players. What we have to do now is in front of us, we have the game against Norwich and we want to make sure we get a performance that gives us a good feeling to finish the season off. Everton boss Roberto Martinez would not answer a question about his future after his side were beaten 3-0 away to Sunderland Everton end their disappointing Premier League campaign at home to Norwich - who were relegated as a result of Sunderlands victory - on Sunday.Martinezs future at Goodison Park has been under pressure by sections of the Everton support, some of whom unveiled a Martinez Out banner in the away end at the Stadium of Light. But the Spaniard revealed his sights were focused solely on ending the Toffees recent poor run with a morale-boosting final-day victory. Sam Allardyce has steered Sunderland from relegation after they confirmed their Premier League status for next season with a 3-0 win against Everton We are a team and we lost a game today and what we want now is to get the winning feeling, he added. As a team we will do that and we will try to finish the season as strong as we can.Asked whether he thought he feared for his job, Martinez replied: That is not really a question, before politely ending the interview with Sky Sports Patrick Davison. The giant slalom world champion slipped during her first run in the morning, landing on her back and then twisting forward before getting her leg caught in the protective material on the side of the slope. One thing is certain Wednesday night: The Chicago Cubs or Cleveland Indians will finally end a long championship drought.Much harder to predict is the player most likely to win World Series MVP honors. After a back-and-forth struggle thats now gone the distance, both teams have several legitimate contenders heading into Game 7. Whoever takes home the trophy -- which started being awarded in 1955, years after Chicagos and Clevelands last championships -- will become the first winner in franchise history.Rarely have so many candidates stood out at once. Arizona Diamondbacks pitchers Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling shared the 2001 award, two decades after a trio of Los Angeles Dodgers split the prize: Ron Cey, Pedro Guerrero and Steve Yeager.Perhaps co-MVPs are a possibility again -- thats what happened in the NL Championship Series last month, when Cubs teammates Javier Baez and Jon Lester were selected.Heres a look at 12 players who could join a list of October royalty that includes Hall of Famers from Frank Robinson and Johnny Bench to lesser-known surprises like Pat Borders and David Eckstein.---COREY KLUBERIf theres a favorite going into Game 7, its probably the Cleveland ace. Kluber is 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA and can become the first pitcher to win three World Series starts since 1968 MVP Mickey Lolich for Detroit. Set to make his second consecutive start on only three days rest, the 2014 AL Cy Young Award winner has struck out 15 and walked one in 12 innings. If he throws another gem and the Indians win, Kluber is a lock. If he falters, the field is wide open.ANTHONY RIZZOAfter a slow start, Rizzo has come on late in the Series and is a big reason the Cubs have won two in a row. The first baseman is batting .364 with six runs, four RBI and three doubles. He had three hits in Game 6, including a two-run homer. Another big night at the plate could win it for Rizzo.FRANCISCO LINDORJust like Rizzo, the Indians young shortstop is 8 for 22 in the Series. Hes also walked three times, stolen a base and knocked in two runs.AROLDIS CHAPMANThe hard-throwing Cubs closer has taken on an expanded role with his team facing elimination. Chapman had not entered in the seventh inning since 2012 before doing it in Games 5 and 6. He pitched a career-high 2 2/3 innings Sunday night to save a 3-2 win that sent the Series back to Cleveland. Then he got four outs in Game 6 before exiting in the ninth with Chicago comfortably ahead. He has a 1.42 ERA and nine strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings and has thrown 62 pitches in three days. But he said hes 100 percent ready for Game 7.JASON KIPNISAfter growing up a die-hard Cubs fan outside Chhicago, the Cleveland second baseman has been a major thorn in their side.dddddddddddd Kipnis is hitting .308 with two homers, four RBI and five runs.JAKE ARRIETAThe 2015 NL Cy Young Award winner had a spotty postseason history -- until this World Series. He is 2-0 with a 2.38 ERA in two road starts, pulling the Cubs even both times. He took a no-hitter into the sixth inning of Game 2 and was handed a large lead early in Game 6. He has allowed five hits and struck out 15 in 11 1/3 innings -- and said hell be available out of the bullpen in Game 7 if needed.CODY ALLENWhile bullpen mate Andrew Miller has garnered much of the attention this postseason, Allen has been even more dominant during the World Series. Clevelands closer has racked up 10 strikeouts and a save in four scoreless innings. If Game 7 is close, expect to see Allen on the mound in a high-leverage situation.BEN ZOBRISTAfter helping Kansas City to a title last year, Zobrist is having another strong Series, this time for the Cubs. He is hitting .391 with four runs, three walks and two extra-base hits.ANDREW MILLERNot to be forgotten is Miller, the ALCS MVP and perhaps the biggest single reason behind Clevelands postseason run. The 6-foot-7 lefty is 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA and eight strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings during the Series. He pitched in three of the first four games but has sat out the past two. That means Miller will be well-rested for Game 7 and could be called on by the middle innings for a particularly long outing.KRIS BRYANTProbably the favorite for NL MVP this season, Bryant began the Series in a 1-for-15 slump. But he homered in Game 5 to get Chicago going and did it again two days later as the Cubs won again. The 24-year-old slugger had four hits in a Game 6 romp and suddenly is batting a respectable .273. He did make a pair of errors at third base.ADDISON RUSSELLThe 22-year-old Cubs shortstop did most of his damage in Game 6, and what a night it was. Russell hit a grand slam that broke things open and tied a World Series record with six RBI thanks to a pop-fly double that dropped between two Indians outfielders. He is hitting .250 with eight RBI.KYLE HENDRICKSA great performance in his Game 7 start for Chicago could conceivably make Hendricks the MVP. The right-hander, who led the majors with a 2.13 ERA this season, pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings for a no-decision in Game 3. He came up huge in Game 6 of the NLCS, beating Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers 5-0 to give the Cubs their first pennant since 1945. ' ' '
