DENVER -- Christian Ponder ran for a score and threw for another in the fourth quarter and San Francisco pulled away to beat the Denver Broncos 31-24 in an exhibition Saturday night.Ponder was signed earlier in the week to bolster the teams depth at quarterback.Blaine Gabbert, trying to solidify his hold on the starting quarterback job in Colin Kaepernicks absence, led a scoring drive and finished 6 of 9 for 69 yards in roughly a quarter and a half of play.Kaepernick, who missed the first exhibition because of a sore right shoulder, resumed throwing in practice Thursday and is expected to begin fully participating in workouts next week in hopes of playing Friday against Green Bay.Ponder, who was out of football last season, was added by the 49ers (1-1) after backup quarterback Thad Lewis suffered a season-ending knee injury in their exhibition opener against Houston last week. Ponder scored on a 22-yard bootleg and then completed a 30-yard touchdown pass to Dres Anderson. The Broncos (1-1), also in search of a quarterback after the retirement of Peyton Manning and free agency departure of Brock Osweiler, did not get a decisive performance from their contenders.Trevor Siemian led a nifty game-opening touchdown drive that C.J. Anderson finished with a 19-yard run, but he also was picked off by Eric Reid, who returned the interception 42 yards for the score. Reid easily eluded Siemians attempt to tackle him near the goal line. Siemian was 10 of 14 for 75 yards.Mark Sanchez, who started the Broncos exhibition opener last week, relieved Siemian and led a drive ending in a field goal but struggled overall, with three sacks and fumbling twice. He completed 10 of 17 for 120 yards and just missed having one of his throws intercepted by cornerback Chris Davis.Paxton Lynch, the Broncos first-round draft pick, was the most productive among the three though he has primarily gotten third-team reps in training camp.He threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to John Phillips late in the third quarter and another covering 4 yards to Durron Neal in the waning minutes. His final pass was intercepted in the last moments by cornerback Kenneth Acker.QUOTABLEI squandered a great opportunity to separate myself and put the team in a bad situation. No excuse for that. Poor, poor quarterbacking play. -- Sanchez on his fumbles on consecutive second-quarter possessions.I think we improved in the offense as a whole. We got the ball in the end zone. We could always start faster, but just getting into the flow of the offense kind of playing more this week we see how things kind of work. -- Gabbert on his play and the performance of the offense as a whole.MAKING PROGRESSKaepernick went through his pregame passing routine in anticipation of participating fully in practices next week ahead of Fridays exhibition against Green Bay. The biggest thing is seeing how he responds in terms of if there are any residual effects (from his pregame throwing session) and see how he feels in the morning and see how hes progressing, coach Chip Kelly said.ROOKIE WATCH49ers: WR Bryce Treggs, an undrafted free agent out of Cal, caught a 25-yard pass from fellow rookie Jeff Driskel to help set up a second-quarter field goal. Treggs later left the game with a knee injury. WR Devon Cajuste, an undrafted free agent from Stanford, caught a 40-yard pass from Driskel in the third quarter.Broncos: FB Andy Janovich, a sixth-round pick out of Nebraska, helped clear the way on Andersons first-quarter touchdown run by picking off a 49ers defender with his lead block on the play.POSITION BATTLES49ers: RB Mike Davis, in the mix for the right to back up starter Carlos Hyde, ran five times for 26 yards but also had two fumbles. ... RB DuJuan Harris, also competing for a backup spot, appeared headed for the end zone late in the third quarter, but fumbled at the 1 and the ball was recovered in the end zone by the Broncos for a touchback.Broncos: Rookie RB Devontae Booker, competing with Ronnie Hillman to be the primary backup to starter C.J. Anderson, ran nine times for 36 yards and also provided solid pass protection when asked to stay in and block on passing plays. Zaire Anderson, looking to add depth at inside linebacker and contribute on special teams, forced two fumbles.INJURY UPDATE49ers: LB Nick Bellore was sidelined by a knee injury in the third quarter. ... DT Tony Jerod-Eddie was sidelined in the first half with a chest injury. ... LB Eli Harold left late in the second quarter after hitting the ground hard at the bottom of a pileup. No announcement was made on the nature of his injury. ... WR Bruce Ellington did not play because of an ankle injury. ... DT DeForest Buckner, the first of the 49ers two first-round picks, was held out with a lower-body injury.Broncos: T Darrion Weems left the game early in the second quarter with a concussion. ... LB Corey Nelson left midway through the second quarter with a wrist injury. ... DE Vance Walker, who tore his right ACL during a training camp practice earlier in the week, has been placed on season-ending injured reserve. ... OLB DeMarcus Ware, continuing his recovery from back problems, missed a second exhibition game, but could begin practicing with the team as soon as next week.---Online:AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and AP NFL Twitter feed: www.twitter.com/AP-NFL Cheap Yeezy Free Shipping . This page will be updated with new questions and answers up until just after noon ET, so refresh often to see if your question was answered. The most recent answers will appear first.Sometimes, rankings and columns just arent enough to help you decide which player should go in your lineup. If youre still not sure about that final spot before Sundays games kick off, send us a question on Twitter using the hashtag #startsitESPN, and you just might get yours answered below. Each week, ESPN Fantasy analysts KC Joyner and Jim McCormick will provide advice for players just like you stuck with tough choices to make. The fantasy playoffs are upon us in many leagues, so making the correct lineup decisions becomes that much more important. So lets get started on answering your fantasy football questions for this weeks games.@ESPNFantasy #StartSitESPN Dalton vs colin kaepernick- Todd Mayster (@tmayster82) December 11, 2016Its difficult to trust Kaepernick after last weeks debacle, but he does have a 93 score in my matchup points-total system that grades matchup favorability (with 100 being the most favorable). That is slightly higher than Daltons 80 in that category. Add in that the Bengals will want to lean on their ground game against a horrible Cleveland rush defense that places next to last in points allowed per game to opponents running backs, and Kaepernick is the pick. -- KCBig Ben or Matthew Stafford? #StartSitESPN- Spencer Cohen (@Srcohen24) December 11, 2016Its a close call between these two, so lets consider an upside tiebreaker. The Bills have allowed 20 or more fantasy points to the opposing quarterback in four of their last five games. The Bears have allowed that mark only once in their last five games. Weather could be a factor in Buffalo, but light snow wont stop Roethlisberger, so he would be the go-to option here. -- KC@ESPNFantasy #StartSitESPN start Ladarius green or eifert ?- Daniel J Sustaita (@Daniel_sus8) December 11, 2016Neither the Bills nor the Browns have been very good at stopping opponents tight ends this year, but Cleveland has allowed opponents tight ends to rack up a double-digit reception mark on four occasions this year, versus zero games for Buffalo. Combine that with Eifert being more central to the Cincinnati offense with A.J. Green still out with injury and Eifert would be the preferred choice in this one. -- KC@ESPNFantasy #StartSitESPN Def - Miami or Baltimore- daniel affourtit (@edrevONLINE) December 11, 2016Baltimore is first in rushing yards allowed and yards allowed, second in interceptions, tied for second in points allowed and first in ESPN Stats & Informations special teams expected-points-added metric that measures special teams impact in an expected-points framework. Add that to Tom Brady ranking 23rd in yards per attempt since Week 9 (6.9) and the injuries to the Patriots pass catchers, and the Ravens are the selection. -- KC@ESPNFantasy #StartSitESPN Delanie Walker or Jason Witten in the TE spot?- Orlando Diaz (@orlydiaz) December 11, 2016Wittens goose egg last week is very concerning, but a matchup against a Giants secondary that has allowed nine or more points to opposing tight ends in four of the last five weeks should make that a one-week anomaly. Walkers matchup against Denver may be the most unfavorable of the week, as he gets a zero in my matchup points system that grades matchup favorability on a 0-100 scale (with 100 being the most favorable). Put those together, and Witten is the pick. -- KC@ESPNFantasy #StartSitESPN Dak Prescott or Tom Brady? Thanks- John Ellsaesser (@JDE_pilot) December 11, 2016As noted earlier, Brady ranks 23rd in yards per attempt since Week 9. The Patriots also have injuries to their pass catchers, as Danny Amendola has been ruled out of the game and Martellus Bennett is questionable with ankle and shoulder injuries that have held him to limited practices all week. Prescott does have a difficult matchup against the Giants, but New York has been inconsistent against tight ends (see the earlier question about Witten). Add in that Prescott has Dez Bryant and Brady has no receiver of that caliber, and Prescott would be the choice. -- KC#StartSitESPN Newton or Brees?- My5sons? (@TweetingLaurenX) December 11, 2016Tampas pass defense has been quite suspect this year, something evidenced by its No. 26 ranking in vertical yards allowed per attempt (12.3 yards on aerials thrown 11 or more yards downfield). The Buccaneers also wont have starting free safety Chris Conte, who has been ruled out of this game with a chest injury. That should allow Brees to get back on track, and it makes him a higher-percentage option than the hit-or-miss Newton. -- KC@ESPNFantasy #StartSitESPN jay ajayi or legarrette Blount for my flex. Crowder or sanders for my wr? #championshiprun- frank pentaris (@maddenhead) December 11, 2016Ajayi faces a Cardinals defense that ranks second in fantasy points allowed per game to opponents running backs, but as noted in an ESPN Insider article I wrote this week, Ajayis value could improve, since Miami has started utilizing him more often in the passing game. That gives him a slight edge over Blount, who is facing a Ravens defense that is the best in the league against the rush. Crowder would be the pick over Sanders, because the Eagles mediocre pass defense should allow him to score 10 or more points for the sixth time this season. -- KCJulio Jones or D. Jackson? #StartSitESPN @ESPNFantasy- Fransua Durazo (@Fransua_D) December 11, 2016Its not a given that Jones will play this week, as Adam Schefter has reported that Jones will have to post an acceptable showing during warm-ups to avoid being inactive this week. Jackson is more than a reasonable substitute, given that he faces an Eagles secondary that has allowed opponents wide receivers to rack up 26 or more points in five of their last six contests. Thats enough upside to warrant not playing Jones, so the suggestion would be to start Jackson. -- KC@ESPNFantasy #StartSitESPN Cooks or Hopkins?- Ramos (@livingwater71) December 11, 2016An ESPN Insider piece I wrote this week detailed how Brock Osweilers vertical passing woes have all but crushed Hopkins fantasy value. Cooks doesnt have that issue with Drew Brees, who ranks second in vertical passing yards (1,742 on aerials traveling 11 or more yards downfield). That makes Cooks the better option here. -- KC@ESPNFantasy tyrell williams or michael thomas? #StartSitESPN- Ho Ho Hoey (@djjoeyg3) December 11, 2016Williams gets the nod, given the softer matchup against a young and generous Carolina secondary. Save for some down outings against Denver this season, Williams has been a production peer of Thomas in every regard, so the matchup advantage is enough to sway the call. -- J.M.@ESPNFantasy Eric Ebron or Devante Parker at flex? #StartSitESPN- KobeDropped60 (@G_Lpz94) December 11, 2016Since Week 6 -- when Miami started featuring Jay Ajayi -- Parker has been a near-even target peer of Jarvis Landry when healthy, thus his opportunity rate and the ability to match up with exploitable corner Marcus Cooper proves inviting. -- J.M.#StartSitESPN Do I start Micheal Thomas or Richard Matthews in a PPR league?- Frank Fanelli (@f_fanelli18) December 11, 2016Going with Thomas here, as Rishard Matthews faces a Denver secondary that has yielded the fewest yards and fantasy points to receivers this season. -- J.M.Gurley vs. Riddick vs. Hightower? Gurley = disappointment all year but, Riddick is questionable. Thoughts? #FantasyFootball #StartSitESPN- Meg Crawford (@Postgrad) December 11, 2016Gurley remains the high-floor option here, while his ceiling is actually increased against a young Atlanta front that proves to be overly aggressive in space. -- J.M.#StartSitESPN Jamison Crowder or Cameron Brate for flex?- Will (@wildwilliec) December 11, 2016Digging Crowder here, as the Redskins are second in passing yardage and yards per play, signs of an elite offense. The Philly secondary was picked apart against the Bengals last week. -- J.M.#StartSitESPN Kaep or Stafford? And also I got T. Rawls, Forte, and Freeman I need 2! Thanks- Julian Gonzalez (@JulianG61403466) December 11, 2016Gotta go Stafford, while Forte and Freeman is a strong pairing. -- J.M.C. Brate or C.J. Fiedorowicz #StartSitESPN- El Chapo (@Str8E45T_Mig0) December 11, 2016Ill take Brate with no Kenny Vaccaro for the Saints and his sizable share of targets and red zone attention. -- J.M.Diggs or Ginn #StartSitESPN- Jarrod Hildebrandt (@Jrodhildebrandt) December 11, 2016Not sure how this is close -- gotta go Diggs and his remarkable target share. -- J.M.Ladarius Green or Antonio Gates? #StartSitESPN- Tom Sauer (@remhuck) December 11, 2016Prefer Green here, as hes hauled in five catches at least 15 yards downfield over the past two games -- Roethlisberger has four such completions to other tight ends over the past two seasons. It also helps that Green has 24 percent of Pittsburghs passing market the past two games. -- J.M.@ESPNFantasy Booker, Moncrief, or Watkins at FLEX. Standard. #StartSitESPN- Miguel (@iMiguel_G) December 11, 2016Moncrief has the best touchdown pattern, while Bookers workload is curbed by the presence of Forsett and his struggles with efficiency of late. -- J.M.Rob Kelley or J. Stewart in half pt PPR? What about bengals or vikes D? #StartSitESPN- Paul McMurry (@spaulmcmurry) December 11, 2016Sticking with Kelley, as this is a common dilemma today, and prefer the Vikings defense just slightly, given their elite pass rush (third in pressuring opposing passers per dropback). -- J.M.#StartSitESPN considering the weather Brady@baltimore or Palmer@miami?- jerry sanchez (@drtysanc) December 11, 2016Still riding with Brady at home here. We often overrate the influence of weather on scheme. -- J.M.#StartSitESPN Blount or Steve smith sr?- brady (@bradypags) December 11, 2016Gonna go Blount, as hes second in the league in goal-to-go touches and has such an enduring role as the short-yardage weapon on a top offense. -- J.M.@ESPNFantasy #StartSitESPN #FFNow PPR league. Martin or Booker? Both seem to be looking at time share situation.- Adam Garland (@hokietect) December 11, 2016Would rather have Martin, whos tied to the stronger offense at home with a massive point total. -- J.M.Cobb or Pryor? Weather, new QB factor for Pryor? #StartSitESPN- David E. Schwartz (@schwartzy98) December 11, 2016Cobb is a tertiary target in that offense now, while Pryor remains the top read in his. Ill assume any risks for the sheer volume of Pryors share. -- J.M.Which TE to start? Antonio Gates or Greg Olsen? Olsen has been slumping bad. Theo Riddick or Kenneth Dixon? Thanks!! #StartSitESPN- Jake Harrison (@JakeCLT) December 11, 2016Still sticking with Olsen, given the talent and upside; were betting on a touchdown with Gates either way. Riddick for me at tailback. -- J.M.@ESPNFantasy #StartSitESPN Need one... Edelman, Cooks, Tate, or Tyrell Williams in PPR league.- fyihyd (@fyihyd) December 11, 2016Going with Edelman and his 30-plus percent share of the passing game over the past three games, which proves ideal for PPR. -- J.M.Landry or Shepard? Choose 1 as WR3 #StartSitESPN- Corey Dempsey (@cordemps) December 11, 2016Landry still has a 20 percent share of the Dolphins passing offense and should get moved around enough to evade Petersons/Cardinals top coverage. -- J.M.#StartSitESPN In a ppr flex. L. Green or E. Sanders?- Jerry Bevil (@menofsteel87) December 11, 2016Sanders has a 30 percent share of the Broncos passing game over the past three games, and the Titans pass defense has proved suspect throughout the season. -- J.M.Ted Ginn Jr vs SD or Taylor Gabriel @ LA?? #StartSitESPN #NFLFantasy #FantasyFootball #FantasyESPN #fantasyadvice- Jeff Schultz Jr (@Jeffschultzjr) December 11, 2016Lets ride with Gabriel and any uptick in routes and targets he might merit with Julio Jones ailing. -- J.M.Dion Lewis or T. Coleman? Have to start one #StartSitESPN- David E. Schwartz (@schwartzy98) December 11, 2016I have Lewis higher of the two in flex ranks, mostly because Lewis looks great on tape and should see around 10 touches on Monday. -- J.M.Dion Lewis or Asiata.. #StartSitESPN- Rudy Guerrero (@AreGee408) December 11, 2016Have Lewis higher for total yardage with a similar workload. -- J.M.@ESPNFantasy Which do I start, Kap or Dalton? #StartSitESPN- K.Curtis (@kcurtis093) December 11, 2016Id start Dalton, as he connected on five of six deep balls last week and was nearly perfect from a clean pocket against Philly. The Browns, meanwhile, have the fifth-lowest pressure rate and have allowed the most points per drive and a touchdown on a third of opposing drives since Week 4. -- J.M.#StartSitESPN at WR Terrelle Pryor or Kenny Britt?- Nathan Dilts (@Dilts22) December 11, 2016Pryor for me. I do like Britts vertical usage but prefer Pryors heavy share, and game script could trend pass-happy for Cleveland. -- J.M.Cousins or Kaepernick at QB?? #StartSitESPN @MatthewBerryTMR- DatManCuzzin (@DJ_Blvck) December 11, 2016Cousins is on pace for 5,000 yards and faces a Philly defense that has allowed a top-12 fantasy quarterback performance in five of the past six. -- J.M.@ESPNFantasy #StartSitESPN Start Doug Martin or Tevin Coleman?- Steve (@_stephendugan) December 11, 2016There are more mouths to feed in Tampa now, but I still prefer Doug Martins stake in meaningful short-yardage/goal-line scenarios to Colemans receiving prowess. The inviting implied point total in that Tampa game is a solid touchdown higher than the total in L.A. today, per the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. -- J.M.#StartSitESPN S. Watkins, Jamison Crowder, Ryan Mathews for FLEX.- Jordan Breeding (@J_Chapman_Music) December 11, 2016Crowder has the highest floor of this group, and with the Eagles secondary proving suspect, his outcome spectrum is more reliable than that of Watkins or Mathews. I understand the appeal for Watkins big-play ability, but Taylors struggles from the pocket (just three touchdowns since Week 7) are a factor. -- J.M.#StartSitESPN start Ingram or J Stewart at flex?- Kelly Carr (@kellypcarr) December 11, 2016Given Ingram returned to practice to end the week, Ill side with him in that potential shootout in Tampa over San Diegos solid rush defense matchup for Stewart. -- J.M.#StartSitESPN Luck or Cousins? Thx- IU (@itumo30) December 11, 2016The Texans defense doesnt travel nearly as well as it plays at home, ceding the 12th-most points per drive on the road, and their pass rush is bottom 10 in pressure rate since Week 4 (when J.J. Watt was first sidelined). Add this up, and Luck is positioned to produce a strong volume-driven line. -- J.M.Should I start Ben roethlisburger or russel Wilson #StartSitESPN- Bob moss (@Bobmoss16) December 11, 2016Prefer Wilson here, as the Packers pass coverage rates 31st on Pro Football Focus and Green Bay has ceded the most points per drive in the NFL over the past month. -- J.M.Will Jacquizz Rodgers affect Doug Martin? Should I start Thomas Rawls, rob Kelley, or Doug Martin as my rb2? - Standard #StartSitESPN- Mohammed Mclovin (@MohammedMclovi4) December 11, 2016I do think Rodgers gets some work, but Martin still appears to claim a valuable enough share to earn RB2 status. That said, I have Rawls a good bit ahead of Martin today and consider him a strong start for a Seattle offense that could move the ball in Lambeau. -- J.M.Need to pick two: Fat Rob, Diggs, Sammy, Moncrief. Help please! @ESPNFantasy #StartSitESPN- Ryan Allen (@raallen81) December 11, 2016Riding with Diggs and Moncrief. I do respect Robert Kelleys role, and when game flow (as in competing/leading) favors the Washington offense, he gets valuable work. The Eagles rush defense, however, has proved respectable with Bennie Logan back in the middle. Diggs is a target hog who will get moved around a ton to avoid Jalen Ramsey, while Moncrief is a touchdown machine in that Indy offense. -- J.M.Better running back to start this week in PPR Riddick or Stewart? Also TE McDonald or Ebron?#StartSitESPN- Luke Schutt (@lucasschutt) December 11, 2016Gotta go Riddick in PPR, especially with the decimated Chicago front seven -- particularly their depleted interior linebackers. I prefer Ebron, as well, given the matchup factor and the higher volume passing offense. -- J.M.#StartSitESPN Rudolph or Vernon Davis. Gore, booker, or Dion Lewis. 1 pt ppr- Ben (@Ben_Skolnick) December 11, 2016Siding with Rudolph and his red zone appeal and Gores steady workload. -- J.M.#StartSitESPN Rob Kelley or Jonathan Stewart? RB2 in PPR- sino (@feelthetrill) December 11, 2016Good deal of Kelley interest today, which makes sense, since he was a free-agent fantasy find and has earned consideration. Lets go with Kelley, who has a much better shot at a heavy workload and less competition for work on the goal line, while Stewart still contends with Cam Newton and Mike Tolbert in close. -- J.M.#StartSitESPN @MathewBerryTMR Kenneth Dixon, Rex Burkhead, or Bilal Powell in standard?- Weeyamish (@weeyamish) December 11, 2016I prefer Dixon in standard, as his upside in the rushing phase is legit and his ability to build total yardage -- at least 72 yards from scrimmage in three of his past four -- is impressive. The game script could prove pass-heavy if the Pats pull ahead, as well. -- J.M.@ESPNFantasy falcons or Titans D/ST? #StartSitESPN- Sam Moore (@raidernationyvr) December 11, 2016I? prefer the Falcons, who are facing an L.A. offense that ranks last in the league in points per drive and have a raw rookie behind center. -- J.M.@ESPNFantasy Big Ben or Carson Palmer #StartSitESPN- Tee (@just_tee77) December 11, 2016I have Roethlisberger higher this week; even as the Steelers offense produces stronger rates at home, the sheer floor of his established weapons and emergence of Ladarius Green is enough to earn him the nod over Palmer. -- J.M.@ESPNFantasy #startsitespn Snead or McKinnon at Flex? (Non ppr)- Ali (@AlltheWire123) December 10, 2016Based on workload upside, I prefer McKinnon, as he could see 15 touches and some passing work to build a worthy day from scrimmage. -- J.M.#StartSitESPN TE Z. Ertz or Jordan Reed? @ESPNFantasy- Tommy Meena (@FollowThatGrizz) December 10, 2016Ertz has such a low-end scoring profile over the larger sample, while Reed remains an elite red zone threat and is simply the better player with a similar market share of his offense. -- J.M.#StartSitESPN Ladarius green or walker?- Ryan Balsei (@Ryan_Balsei) December 11, 2016Still riding with Walker, even as the Denver secondary is imposing. The floor for targets between the painted numbers is valuable. I do like Greens emerging vertical role, I but trust Walkers 20 percent share of his offense more. -- J.M.S Watkins Buff or D Jackson Phil #StartSitESPN- John Harris (@harrisj2016) December 11, 2016Lets go with Watkins here, as we can assume three to four vertical shots and less competition for meaningful targets than Jackson on that deep D.C. passing offense. -- J.M.Start Rawls or Hyde? #StartSitESPN- Tanner (@thecommoncox) December 11, 2016I trust the Seattle offense here more and, thus, the goal-line back attached to it (Thomas Rawls). -- J.M.#StartSitESPN D. Inman, T. Pryor or D. Martin, 1/2 PPR for flex.- Mike Oney (@mike_oney) December 11, 2016Going with Pryor here, as his 27 percent market share of the teams targets remains steady and he established a valuable rapport with RG III earlier this season. -- J.M.Ebron or cj fed? Standard. #StartSitESPN- Eva Key (@emk264) December 11, 2016I prefer C.J. Fiedorowicz to Ebron, as he has consumed the second-most targets and leads the team in yardage since Week 4. It also helps that he set a career high in yardage against the Colts in their first meeting and Indy is missing key depth at linebacker and safety. -- J.M.@ESPNFantasy Which Matt do I start, Stafford or Ryan? #StartSitESPN- A. Mumbai -- Indias star boxer Vijender Singh has said that he does not feel any additional pressure before his first home professional bout against Australias Kerry Hope for the WBO Asia Pacific super middleweight title. Vijender, who won a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, believes he only has a sense of responsibility for the future of the sport in the country.I think, there is no pressure (but) more responsibility because this fight will decide what is the future of pro boxing in India. People are excited and would be coming to see (the fight), Vijender said.Of course I will have to give (my) 100%, I have to win the fight, thats (an) important part, but there is no pressure, (only) responsibility is there, fulfill it and take the title.Vijender, who had won his first six professional fights inside the distance, is up against an opponent who brings with him the experience of 30 bouts, winning 23, including two by knockouts.?Exuding confidence ahead of the title fight against Hope, Vijender said, He is a southpaw (left-hander) and I know him and he is a very experienced guy. I spoke to (my) coach.dddddddddddd We will take him, its not that difficult, dont worry. I dont want to say anything before the fight, pass any comment or any bad thing about him, like I am going to destroy him.But I know, he has experience, I know that his record is 35 or something, but it is a record right now. But I have an Olympic medal. I have got an Olympic medal, I did get (medals) in the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games. I can do that and I know that.?The Welsh-born Hope, who emigrated to Australia, was also a WBC middleweight champion and has moved a division up to super middleweight to take on Vijender. On fighting for the belt for the first time, Vijender said, After this I will come in the league, my ranking will be 15 in the world and then its going to be like going for the world title fight -- slowly, may be next year or after that.I will go to the Rio Olympics (to support other Indian boxers), after this fight. I will go and just watch the fight in Rio. ' ' '

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Now that North Carolina has lost its NCAA and Atlantic Coast Conference championship events for this year, some other states face potential challenges in the organizations fight for discrimination-free environments. The NCAA this week took the unprecedented step of pulling seven championship events from the state over its objection to a law that can allow discrimination against LGBT people. Two days later, the ACC did the same thing -- relocating all 10 of its neutral-site championships from the state the conference has called home since its founding in 1953.At issue in North Carolina is the law known as HB2, which excludes gender identity and sexual orientation from statewide antidiscrimination protections. It also requires transgender people to use restrooms in schools and state government buildings that correspond to the gender on their birth certificate. When the NCAA announced its antidiscrimination policy last spring, it said it was tracking the actions of legislatures in several states but did not identify them. A questionnaire event organizers must complete during the bidding process asks them to identify any laws that might lead to discrimination. In announcing the moves, the NCAA pointed out that North Carolinas situation was unique in that it has the only statewide transgender bathroom law in the nation. Plus, five states and several cities dont allow public employees and representatives of public institutions to travel there because of HB2.Here are four states that might eventually wind up on the NCAAs radar:----TEXASRepublican Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has suggested the state will take up school bathroom access in 2017, and the state is leading an 11-state lawsuit that accuses the federal government of turning schools into a massive social experiment. Voters last November overturned a Houston ordinance that extended nondiscrimination protections to gay and transgender people. Opponents used a campaign featuring the slogan, No Men in Womens Bathrooms. San Antonio is scheduled to host the 2018 Final Four and Dallas is hosting first- and second-round games in 2018. Dallas will host the Womens Final Four next spring.----GEORGIAThough Republican Gov. Nathan Deal in March vetoed a religious freedom bill that critics say would have limited LGBT peoples rights, some conservatives have vowed to revive the measure -- known as HB757 -- in 2017. State Sen. Josh McKoon, R-Columbus, sponsored the bill that the NFL has said, if passed, could jeopardize Atlantas bid for future Super Bowls. The NCAA mens basketball South Regional semifinals and final is set for Atlanta in 2018, while the Division I mens and womens tennis championships are scheduled for Athens in 2017.----TENNESSEEOfficials at Memphis have said any decision about the 2017 South Regional semifinals and finals -- which theyre scheduled to host -- rests with the NCAA after the state passed a law that allows therapists to decline to see patients based on religious values and personal principles. That led to a lawsuit in June filed by gay rights activists, who claim it targets LGBT people. It also led the American Counseling Association to cancel its planned conference in Nashville -- which also is scheduled to host opening-weekend games in the 2018 mens basketball tournament.----MISSISSIPPIThe state hasnt hosted any predetermined NCAA championship events since 2001 because the Confederate battle flag appears on the state flag. Appealing a judges ruling against a law that was supposed to take effect July 1 likely wont do the Magnolia State any favors in the sports organizations eyes. The religious objection law signed by Republican Gov. Phil Bryant remains blocked after a federal judge ruled it unconstitutional, with U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves in his ruling calling it the states attempt to put LGBT people back in their place. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals last month refused to unblock the law. BERN, Switzerland -- This is why Fabian Cancellara is retiring. His mind was willing but his 35-year-old legs couldnt deliver. For his last Tour de France, the classics specialist and time trial expert earmarked Mondays 16th stage for a special, emotional finish on the medieval streets of Bern, just four kilometers from his house.Cancellara has been in the background, working for his Trek-Segafredo team leader Bauke Mollema, who lay second overall. But on his home roads, which he claimed he could ride blind and were lined with fans signs of encouragement, he was rejuvenated and up front.Furiously pedaling the customized white bike emblazoned with his Spartacus nickname, he fought hard in the tricky finale featuring some cobblestones, a terrain on which the three-time Paris-Roubaix and Ronde van Vlaanderen champion excelled throughout his storied career. He was in contention for his first Tour stage win since 2012, but his hopes were dashed by Peter Sagan, head of the new generation of sprinters. Cancellara was sixth.Fabian is a big name in cycling, and for sure he will also be a legend, said Sagan, who defeated Cancellara when he claimed his first Tour stage win in 2012.When I won for the first time, he was the yellow jersey, we were in a breakaway, and I wanted to beat him. Maybe he was angry at the time.dddddddddddd. Today, for sure, he wanted to try, but it was not a finish for him.Cancellara, surrounded by dozens of fans, said at his team bus, The best riders were at the front fighting it out. In the end, I was missing a little bit of strength, but I gave it my all and thats the main thing. Its special to ride in your own streets but, for now, Im more tired than anything else.A big star in Switzerland, Cancellara will retire at the end of the season. On the Tour, he wore the yellow jersey for 29 days, a feat only two-time champion Chris Froome has been able to better among the current peloton.Cancellara, a time trial world champion four times, first made his mark at cyclings biggest event 12 years ago, when he won the prologue in Liege in his maiden appearance and seized the yellow jersey at the expense of Lance Armstrong. Last year, he briefly led the standings after the second stage, but was involved in a spectacular crash that left him with broken bones in his spine.Age and the heat have hit him the time.Yesterday I lost five kilos, but tomorrow is a rest day. Maybe Ill drink a beer, he said. The wine will be for the end of the season. ' ' '

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jacksons three-interception performance -- in a second straight upset loss -- made a bettor holding a potential $10,000 ticket on the Heisman Trophy favorite nervous enough to put what seems like a genuine lock up for sale.On Sunday, a $100 ticket on Jackson to win the Heisman Trophy was posted on Nevada sports betting market site PropSwap, a service that allows customers to buy and sell live tickets. The $100 bet on Jackson was placed at the Westgate SuperBook when he was a 100-1 long shot before the season. The current asking price is $9,000.Per Nevada Gaming Control regulations, the states sportsbooks halted betting on the winner of the Heisman Trophy on Nov. 20. Jackson closed as a massive 1-50 favorite at the SuperBook, but that was before the Cardinals lost straight-up to Kentucky as 28-point favorites. Point spread-wise, its the second-biggest upset of the season to this point, behind only South Alabamas win over Mississippi State as a 28.5-point underdog. The current owner of the $10,000 Jackson ticket bought it from the original bettor for $4,000 in the middle of the season. He became concerned about not only Jacksons performance against Kentucky, but also didnt like that his perceived closest competition -- Washington quarterback Jake Browning and Clemson quarterback?Deshaun Watson?-- will each be playing in championship games this week, while Jackson wont be.Watson closed at 20-1, with Browning at 30-1.The winner of the Heisman Trophy will be announced Dec. 10. England marched to their 12th consecutive win with a comprehensive 58-15 victory over Fiji at Twickenham on Saturday. Tries from Jonathan Joseph, Elliot Daly, Semesa Rokoduguni, Teimana Harrison and Joe Launchbury gave England a commanding 31-0 lead early in the first half. Eddie Jones was pleased with Englands performance Fiji fought back with three tries of their own for a 34-15 scoreline shortly after the break, but England piled on a further four tries to record a comfortable victory. Owen Farrell became only the second England player to pass the 500-point mark with a haul of four conversions and a penalty on his 45th Test appearance lifting him to 508 points, in pursuit of Jonny Wilkinsons 1,179. Jonathan Joseph opened the scoring at Twcikenham England have now won 11 out of 11 with Eddie Jones as head coach, but in Argentina and Australia there are tougher challenges to come, South Africa having been over-run 37-21 in their autumn opener last Saturday. It took less than four minutes for England to storm ahead with Joseph slipping over after Mako Vunipola had used a combination of footwork and power to force Fiji backwards. Sir Clive Woodward selects the England team he would play against Argentina Chris Robshaws ability to strip the ball in the tackle led to the second try as the hosts counter-attacked with ruthless efficiency, galloping upfield before Ford picked out Daly who danced over.England were irrepressible as they poured through the gaps, and in the 13th minute they crossed for a third time when intelligent running from Daly and Goode sent Rokoduguni over for his first international try. Semesa Rokoduguni scored twice for England Having dazzled their way over the try-line thus far, the Six Nations Grand Slam winners selected the bludgeon from their armoury with Harrison and Launchbury touching down from lineout drives. The avalanche of points was interrupted as Fiji conjured a well-worked try, using their forwards to drive through the middle before exploiting an overlap with wing Nemani Nadolo crossing in the left corner. Semesa Rokoduguni and Jonathan Joseph analyse Englands convincing win over Fiji at Twickenham And a second was delivered on the stroke of half-time after completion of a smart attack, although England should not have allowed lock Leone Nakarawa to twist over so easily.Whatever Jones said at half-time had little impact as Fiji took just three minutes to run in their third. Captain Akapusi Qera muscled his way upfield and in a flash full-back Metuisela Talebula arrived on an arching line that swept him over the whitewash, in the process beating tackles from Dylan Hartley and Billy Vunipola. Englands Semesa Rokoduguni (C) is tackled by Fijis fly-half Josh Matavesi Hartley had a try disallowed for obstruction from Mako Vunipola, but with half an hour remaining England added their sixth after a devastating run from Rokoduguni that should have finished with Daly going over, instead ending a few phases later when Goode scored his first international try. ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Rickard Rakells whereabouts during training camp was a topic of amusement for Kevin Bieksa and the Anaheim Ducks.Rakells presence since returning to the ice has been no laughing matter for their opponents.Rakell had two goals and an assist, John Gibson stopped 21 shots and the Ducks beat the Arizona Coyotes 5-1 on Friday night.Rakell picked up his second three-point game in three games since agreeing to a new long-term contract Oct. 14, scoring on a 2-on-1 break in the first period and tapping in a misplayed puck in the third.Hes fresh. Hes been sitting around doing nothing for two months in Sweden doing who knows what in Stockholm, sitting in a cafe, Bieksa joked. Weve been grinding it out in training camp and skating, so I expect him to be contributing. The reality was not quite as humorous. Not only was Rakell waiting to finalize a new deal, he was still recovering from a bout of appendicitis he endured at the end of last season and needed surgery in September to have scar tissue removed.Rakell has shown no ill effects since returning to the ice, though he thinks his timing and ability to be consistently strong on the puck are lacking.I still think that Im trying to find my groove a little bit, Rakell said. I think its a process. Right now things are going my way with scoring and stuff, but as long as I keep getting scoring chances and making stuff happen out there Im satisfied.Antoine Vermette added a goal and an assist, and Bieksa and Jakob Silfverberg also scored for the Ducks, who are 5-2-1 since starting with four losses (0-3-1).Jamie McGinn scored for Arizona. Louis Domingue stopped 18 of 21 shots in the first period before being replaced by Justin Peters, who gave up two goals on 12 shots over the final 40 minutes. It was a terrible start to the game, McGinn said. I feel bad for Louis, we hung him out to dry.The Ducks were more than satisfied after the first period. After stewing over consecutive home defeats in which they were outscored 9-1, the Ducks responded with a dominant opening 20 minutes in which they thoroughly controlled play while building a 3-0 lead.Bieksa and Rakell scored 2:54 apart midway through the first to get Anaheim started. Silfverberg wrapped up the scoring blitz in the opening period, turning Vermettes clever backhand pass into a nifty backhanded goal with 45 seconds remaining. Were happy with that response, Bieksa said. We just came in with the right mindset and played a good solid game.Ondrej Kase recorded his first point in his second career game with an assist on Vermettes goal with 6:37 left in the second period. The 20-year old rookie from the Czech Republic made his first start and played 16:11.McGinn got the Coyotes on the scoreboard with about 3 1/2 minutes left in the second. It was his third goal in six games. The Ducks had a scare in the first period when Max Domi dropped Ryan Kesler in a fight with one punch. Kesler put a hit on Domi that resulted in a roughing penalty, and the son of longtime enforcer Tie Domi responded with a devastating uppercut when they dropped the gloves. Kesler was helped to the locker room, but did return in the second period and had an assist on Rakells second goal.Game notes Ducks C Ryan Getzlaf and LW Nick Ritchie each missed a second straight game with upper-body injuries. ... LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Southern Mississippi players spread out toward Commonwealth Stadiums west end zone to celebrate one of the programs wildest victories with their happy fans.A huge second-quarter deficit made winning seem unlikely before the Golden Eagles responded with near-perfect performances on both sides of the ball.Nick Mullens ran for two 1-yard touchdowns -- including the go-ahead score late in the third quarter -- and passed for two TDs as Southern Miss scored 34 unanswered points to upset Kentucky 44-35 in its season opener on Saturday night. The Golden Eagles web site said their comeback was the largest since at least 2009, when they erased a 17-point deficit to beat Virginia.Im really proud of just the fight and determination that our players showed, Golden Eagles coach Jay Hopson said after winning his debut. They just kept digging, kept fighting and it was a great win.Kentucky appeared in control with a 35-10 second quarter lead as Drew Barker threw TD passes of 72, 43, 9 and 53 yards on drives totaling 13 plays. Jojo Kemps 7-yard TD run seemed to provide a safe cushion that the Wildcats defense complemented with three interceptions of Mullens.Neither Mullens nor the Golden Eagles quarterback panicked as he answered Kentuckys final score with a 71-yard TD pass to Isaiah Jones with 26 seconds left before halftime. Mullens then sandwiched 1-yard TD runs around an 18-yard scoring pass to Julian Allen, followed by two Parker Schaunfield field goals. My mindset didnt really change, said Mullens, who completed 18 of 28 passes for 258 yards. I just had to relax, focus and make the next play.Southern Miss running backs did their part to make the comeback happen.Ito Smith contributed 173 yards rushing and an 8-yard touchdown on 36 carries, while George Payne added 100 on 16 carries. Payne missed last season with an injury but he looked just fine on one fourth--quarter play in which he lost a yard but broke several tackles.ddddddddddddThat play summed Kentuckys frustrating second half in which it was outgained 261-22 and was worn down by Southern Miss.BARKERS DAYBarker finished 15 of 24 passing for 323 yards, but had just 36 yards after halftime and was sacked four times.THE TAKEAWAYSOUTHERN MISS: The Golden Eagles stuck with the game despite being outscored 35-3 after scoring on their first drive, rebounding with the trio of Mullens, Smith and Payne. Offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson got the final word against his former team as Southern Miss outgained Kentucky 520-409 and dominated the final 32 minutes. I think hes certainly proud of it, Mullens said about Dawson. You guys (media) can do with that situation what you want to, but it was about beating Kentucky. The victory ended a 13-game losing streak to Southeastern Conference schools dating back to 2000.KENTUCKY: The Wildcats still have time to reach the six-win plateau for bowl eligibility. But they blew a huge lead and opportunity in a game they had to win toward that end, and an 0-2 start is looming with a trip to No. 25 Florida looming. Kentucky blew a 21-point lead in a 38-24 loss to Louisville in last seasons finale. Thats a tough loss and our fans deserved better, coach Mark Stoops said. And Ill tell you this, well play better.UP NEXTSOUTHERN MISS: The Golden Eagles aim to follow up their big win when they host FCS Savannah State next weekend.KENTUCKY: The Wildcats visit No. 25 Florida next Saturday in hopes of ending a 29-game losing streak to the Gators -- not to mention, annual media questions about it. Kentucky has come close the past two years and aims to finally seal the deal in the nationally televised game at The Swamp. ' ' '

Sky Sports commentator Richard Boxall reflects on a first day full of surprises at the Masters, both good and bad. The biggest surprise of the opening round of the 80th Masters was Rickie Fowler, who failed to break 80. Hes obviously a fantastic player, but Augusta National is the kind of course where, if your game is slightly off, everything you do wrong gets overly exaggerated. Rickie Fowler could not break 80 on the first day at Augusta And you can get in even deeper trouble if you try to limit the damage and be too conservative. If you bail out at the 11th, for example, and miss the green too far right then getting up and down is such a tough ask. Thats what this place does to you, and if youre struggling with your game, Augusta will find you out. Andy Sullivan also shot 80 and that was disappointing, I was really looking forward to watching him play and I tipped him to do well this week on his Masters debut. Hes a great character and he had a hole in one in the Par 3 competition, but it didnt go well for him on Thursday and, after opening with an 80, theres a good chance his suitcases will be at the course! Andy Sullivan struggled on his Masters debut, but hell be back But hes still a great player and he has had a fantastic couple of years. Im not sure theres all that much you can learn from knocking it round in 80, but Ive no doubt hell be back.Adam Scott starting with a 76 was also an eye-opener considering the form he has been in, although he cant complain about his year so far! Hes a past winner here, but he just had one of those days and hell be happy to make the cut now. Adam Scott will be happy to make the cut after starting with a 76 Another former champion who struggled was Bubba Watson, who dropped five shots in four holes on a really bad back nine and came home in 41. And, again, thats the way the course can bite you. Once youve made a mistake, there isnt a plaster big enough to stop the bleeding! That phrase applied to Jason Day, who stormed to the turn in 31 and played the back nine in 41, including a wretched six at the 16th. It was plain sailing for him when he got to five under at the turn, but one bad shot is all it takes to alter your mindset, especially here. The fairways suddenly look narrower and the holes get smaller, and you get to the stage where the 18th cant come soon enough. In terms of the pleasant surprises, what a great performance from the European players on Thursday. To have eight of them in a tie for ninth or higher was absolutely fantastic, and I must admit I didnt quite expect that.Four of them were Englishmen, and it was great to see and great for European golf. It was particularly nice to see Sergio Garcia up there on three under. Hes such a good ball-striker and if he can get his putting right, he can do well again this week. Shane Lowry got off to a great start, and his natural feel will serve him well at Augusta Shane Lowry enjoyed a superb day, and to fire 68 in those conditions in only his second Masters was impressive. Shane has got great hands and natural feel, and thats ideal for Augusta because youve got to be so precise with the short-irons and around the greens. He doesnt mind the windy conditions and he shapes the ball both ways, which is a crucial asset here. Like Garcia, hes another wonderful striker of the ball and he could surprise a few people this week, just as he did at the WGC-Bridgestone last season. The Metropolitan Police made seven arrests after West Hams 2-1 EFL Cup win and said they would work tirelessly to identify people involved and bring them to justice, while the Hammers vowed to ban any fan implicated in the disorder. Both sets of fans threw missiles across a segregated area of the ground before breaking through security and clashing along a walkway at the top of the Sir Trevor Brooking Stand. Police in riot gear managed to quell the disorder as the match concluded. Dr Geoff Pearson, a lecturer of Senior Criminal Law at Manchester University, believes more could have been done to prevent the scenes The FA will ask both clubs for their observations before assessing evidence and deciding whether to bring any charges.A West Ham statement read: West Ham United and London Stadium partners unreservedly condemn the behaviour of individuals involved in incidents during this evenings fixture with Chelsea.Whilst quickly brought under control, the club, in line with its clear zero tolerance policy, will work closely with London Stadium 185, the Metropolitan Police Service and Chelsea to identify the individuals involved. A lone supporter breaches segregation lines Once identified, those found to have acted improperly will be banned from attending any West Ham United fixtures for life and we will request the courts serve banning orders to prevent these individuals attending any other football.A Chelsea spokesman added on Wednesday night: The club is extremely disappointed to see disturbances at the end of tonights game and we condemn such behaviour. It would be inappropriate to comment further until tonights incidents have been investigated properly. West Ham United and Chelsea fans clashed during their EFL Cup tie West Ham manager Slaven Bilic described the scenes as unacceptable and Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte expressed his disappointment.ddddddddddddommander BJ Harrington of the Metropolitan Police said: Although the vast majority of people left the stadium peacefully and were well behaved, there were a minority of people who attended the match that were clearly intent on being involved in confrontation and violence. We welcome the condemnation from partners and have already started a post match investigation.Sky Sports News HQs chief news reporter Bryan Swanson was at the game, deemed high risk by the police due to the history of violence between both sets of fans. There was a significant police presence inside and outside the London Stadium He said: What this did is quite graphically illustrate that the segregation promised at this match will be questioned by the authorities, the clubs and police. For whatever reason, there seemed to be a slow response and thats why it escalated so quickly. This was always billed a high-risk match. The police said there would be robust policing inside the stadium and West Ham were at pains to say they wanted this game to be trouble-free. They urged every supporter to be an ambassador. It will raise questions about why there was that coming together of supporters on the walkway. There has already been violence involving West Ham supporters outside their new stadium at Stratford following the recent Premier League games against Watford and Middlesbrough.Nine arrests have been made outside the ground since the beginning of the season, while West Ham have issued 23 banning orders for offences ranging from drinking in view of the pitch to breaking the line of segregation. You can watch Premier League football, plus Englands tour of Bangladesh and the Mexican Grand Prix on Sky Sports. Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke hopes one of Jose Mourinho’s first acts as manager will be to bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Old Trafford. Sky Sports News HQ broke the news that Mourinho signed his contract to become Louis van Gaals successor late on Thursday afternoon, before United made an official announcement on the Portugueses appointment on Friday morning.Mourinho and Ibrahimovic have remained very close after spending a year working together at Inter Milan, where the pair won the Serie A title. That has led to speculation that Ibrahimovic - who has confirmed he will leave Paris Saint Germain this summer when his contract expires - could be reunited at Old Trafford next season, and Yorke believes the pair are capable of restoring United to greatness.I have to say I am a fan of Zlatan as well I think he has been tremendous [throughout his career] and certainly in his time at PSG he has been terrific, Yorke told Sky Sports News HQ. Ibrahimovic told reporters on Thursday he has already decided his future He seems to get better with age and he is relishing the opportunity of playing in the Premier League. Hes been everywhere else and I am sure he would love to finish his career at Manchester United if given the chance. If Zlatan joins Manchester United under Mourinho I think it will be a huge step in the right direction to make Manchester United the No 1 club in the country once again. Peter Kenyon believes Mourinho is the perfect replacement for Louis van Gaal. Yorke is convinced Mourinho will re-invigorate Uniteds squad and says the 53-year-olds track record in management suggests can get the best out of the players inherited from his predecessor Van Gaal. You only have to look at what he has achieved over his career to see that he certainly brings a winning formula, said Yorke, who won the treble with United in 1999.I think he will certainly put United back on top where they belong. He knows he has a challenge in terms of the players he has inherited from the Van Gaal regime but I think he will certainly get the best out of the players, which I dont think Van Gaal was able to do. Yorke hopes Ryan Giggs becomes part of Mourinhos backroom team Yorke has previously stated his preference to succeed Van Gaal was former team-mate Ryan Giggs and the ex-Trinidad and Tobago international is keen to see the Welshman retained by the club in some capacity under Mourinho.Everyone knows my first choice was Giggsy and I thought he may have had the opportunity, Yorke said. Treble winner Yorke scored 63 goals in 148 Manchester United appearances Especially, when you look around in terms of other players who have come out of the game and been given the opportunity to manage such huge clubs, ie Zinedine Zidane, Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique and Diego Simeone with what he is doing at Atletico Madrid as well. You would have thought he may get the opportunity after three years as assistant and hes also been at the football club for nearly three decades. Its not to be but I think its crucial they keep Giggsy at the club. BATON ROUGE, La. -- UConns Katie Lou Samuelson recognized early on that LSU was exhibiting little respect for her long-range shooting. So the 6-foot-3 sophomore made the Lady Tigers pay with the most prolific game yet in her very promising career. She lit us up from the 3-point line, LSU coach Nikki Fargas said. I didnt feel like we had the awareness that we needed to play somebody of her caliber as far as shooting the 3.Samuelson hit seven 3-pointers en route to a career-high 28 points, Kia Nurse added a season-best 15 points along with eight assists, and No. 3 UConn handed LSU its first loss of the season, 76-53 on Sunday night.I was shooting well and my teammates were getting me the ball, so I was going to keep shooting the 3s, Samuelson said. Im pleased with how I shot today and I just hope thatll carry on to the next game.Crystal Dangerfield added 10 points and Gabby Williams grabbed 10 rebounds for UConn (3-0), which extended college basketballs longest active winning streak to 78 games. Yet Huskies coach Geno Auriemma didnt sound too pleased about how his team looked in its most lopsided victory of the young season. He cringed at UConns 20 turnovers, 17 personal fouls, and six-minute stint without a field goal in the third quarter.Today was a struggle, Auriemma said. The ball was flying all over the place.Samuelson, who was widely seen as one of the nations best freshmen last season, hit seven of her eight made shots from 3-point range and also sank all five of her free throws.Nurse called it a huge luxury to know she could look for Samuelson anywhere on the offensive end and be confident she would hit open shots.Raigyne Moncrief scored 15 points for LSU (3-1), which trailed by 21 at halftime and struggled to get much closer than that for much of the second half. Alexis Hyder added 11 points for the Lady Tigers.UConn began to pull way on consecutive 3s by Nurse and Samuelson, which opened a 10-0 run that pushed the Huskies lead to 31-16.Later the period, Samuelson hit a 3 from the right wing while being fouled by Hyder, completing a four-point play which made it 40-23. Samuelson added a couple free throws to give her 14 points in the first half, and Dangerfields jumper made it 46-25 at halftime.BIG PICTUREUConn: UConnns winning streak is the third longest in college basketball history, behind only its own program record of 90 straight from 2008-10 and the UCLA mens record of 88 consecutive victories from 1971-74.dddddddddddd ... UConn has now beaten 110 straight unranked opponents since losing by a point to then-unranked St. Johns on Feb. 18, 2012.LSU: The Lady Tigers were off to their best start since their 9-0 beginning to the 2009-10 season and their struggles against a juggernaut like UConn doesnt mean this seasons LSU squad wont be competitive in most games. I thought we did some good things defensively, Fargas said, noting that her team played UConn tight for all but the second quarter. We did some things for three quarters that really allowed us to show the potential of this team. ... Senior guard Rina Hill made her season debut after missing the first three games because of a hip injury. She played 15 minutes and had a rebound and an assist.DIFFERENT ERAThe Huskies have now won five straight against LSU and improved to 8-1 all-time in the series, with the lone loss coming in the 2007 NCAA tournament regional finals to a Lady Tigers squad led by current WNBA and U.S. national team player Sylvia Fowles. After the game, Auriemma ran into another former LSU great, Seimone Augustus, outside the UConn locker room, and they chatted about the state of the Lady Tigers compared to about a decade ago.The talent level is just completely different. Its not even night and day, Auriemma said. So from where it was, to where it is today, its not even the same program. You cant even put it in the same category from back then. I dont know all the reasons why, but when that happens it takes a while to get it back.POLL IMPLICATIONSUConn defeated second-ranked Baylor on Thursday, and by winning convincingly at LSU, the Huskies did nothing to dissuade voters from moving them up at least one spot.UP NEXTUConn: The Huskies host Dayton at the on-campus Gampel Pavilion on Tuesday night.LSU: The Lady Tigers travel to the Virgin Islands for the holiday weekend to play in the Paradise Jam, opening against UTEP on Thanksgiving Day. LONDON -- Serena Williams, who kept coming close without quite getting there,?insisted she was not focused on No. 22.Now she finally has it. And so she can flaunt it.Williams lifted both arms overhead and raised two fingers on each hand right there on Centre Court to show off the magic number after winning her record-tying 22nd Grand Slam singles title by beating Angelique Kerber 7-5, 6-3 in the Wimbledon final Saturday.Yeah, its been incredibly difficult not to think about it. I had a couple of tries this year, Williams said during the trophy ceremony. But it makes the victory even sweeter to know how hard I worked for it.I have, yeah, definitely had some sleepless nights, if Im just honest, with a lot of stuff. Coming so close. Feeling it, not quite able to get there. She pulled even with Steffi Graf for the most major championships in the Open era, which began in 1968. Now Williams stands behind only Margaret Courts all-time mark of 24.This was Williams seventh singles trophy at the All England Club -- only Martina Navratilova, with nine, has more -- and her second in a row. Her victory at Wimbledon a year ago raised her Grand Slam count to 21, but while she almost had added to that total since, she was not able to.There was a stunning loss to Roberta Vinci in the US Open semifinals in September, ending Williams bid for a calendar-year Grand Slam. Then came losses in finals to Kerber at the Australian Open in January and to Garbine Muguruza at the French Open last month. If Im totally honest, Im not relieved to have the 22nd, Im relieved to have Serena back, said Williams coach, Patrick Mouratoglou. Everything depends on that. I dont look at the reward, I look at how to achieve it. And there was something missing for a few months, and the thing that was missing was just Serena. The tennis player was there, but Serena as a person wasnt really herself so she was much more beatable. She got that back over time. I think we didnt realize how much time she need to recover from the loss at the US Open. Maybe Im being wrong, but thats how I feel. And if having the singles title wasnt enough, she later teamed up with sister Venus Williams on Centre Court to capture the womens doubles championship -- their sixth at Wimbledon -- with a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Timea Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova. In the rematch against the fourth-seeded Kerber on Saturday -- the first time in a decade two women met to decide multiple major titles in a single season -- the No. 1-ranked Williams came through. This goes alongside her six championships at the US Open, six at the Australian Open and three at the French Open. The 34-year-old American did it, as she often does, with nearly impeccable serving. She slammed 13 aces, including at least one in each of her first eight service games. She won 38 of 43 points when she put a first serve in.She faced just one break point -- at 3-all in the second set, it represented Kerbers only real opening -- and shut the door quickly and emphatically, with a pair of aces at 117 mph and 124 mph, her fastest of the afternoon. This court, Williams said, definitely feels like home. There was more that Williams did well, though. So much more. Facing the left-handed Kerbers reactive, counterpunching style, Williams was by far the more aggressive player during baseline exchanges, trying to make things happen. And she did, compiling a big edge in winners, 39-12.Williams returned well, hammering second serves that floated in at 75 mph and breaking serve once in each set. She volleyed well, too, winning the point on 16 of 22 trips to the net, including a tap-in on the last point. Soon enough, she was wrapping Kerber in a warm embrace, then holding up those fingers to symbolize 22.At the end, I was trying everything, but she deserved it today. She really played an unbelievable match, said Kerber, who hadnt appeared in a major final until beating Williams in Melbourne. I think we both played on a really high level. It was breezy, but that didnt seem to hamper Williams, whose older sister Venus sat in her guest box, a couple of seats over from musics power couple of Beyoncé and Jay Z.Kerber, a German who knows Graf well, defeated Venus in the semifinals and hadnt dropped a set on her way to the final. But on the grass that suits Williams game so well, Kerber simply could not quite keep up with the trophy on the line, although it was a high-quality match that was more competitive than the scoreline might indicate.I also played a good match, Kerber said. That makes it a little easier for me.Williams lost only one set this fortnight, the opener of her second-round match against American?Christina McHale?last week. After dropping that tiebreaker, Williams sat in her sideline chair and proceeded to smack her racket repeatedly against the grass, before flinging the equipment so far behind her that it landed in the lap of a TV cameraman. That earned Williams a $10,000 fine, but perhaps it pointed her in the right direction. She won all 12 sets she has played since.Once I started focusing more on the positives, I realized that Im pretty good, she said. Then I started playing a little better.Said Mouratoglou: What you saw today, what you saw in the semis and what you saw in the second-round round [against McHale], that was Serena. When she was in trouble -- boom, boom, she did it. When she needed to close -- boom, she did it. That is Serena. I didnt see that for months. There had been some thought that Williams was really stung by her loss to Vinci in New York, that it was too big a disappointment to push aside and lingered, somehow, when she followed with the setbacks against Kerber and Muguruza. If anything, I was able to show resilience that, no, thats not going to shake me, youre not going to break me, Williams said, its going to make me stronger. So, Williams was asked Saturday, is she already thinking about No. 25, to surpass Court?Oh, God, no, Williams said. One thing I learned about last year is to enjoy the moment. Im definitely going to enjoy this. The Associated Press contributed to this report. China Jerseys Wholesale . PHOENIX -- Toronto first baseman Edwin Encarnacion has made a living out of driving baseballs out of Chase Field in the few opportunities interleague play has provided, and he will have one more chance Wednesday. His potent bat and the strong arm of Aaron Sanchez halted the Diamondbacks and their two-game winning streak in a 5-1 victory Tuesday, but Arizona will retaliate with left-hander Patrick Corbin in an attempt to get a split in the short two-game set. Corbin beat the Jays in Toronto on June 21.Encarnacion, who leads the major leagues with 84 RBI, has nine homers in 66 plate appearances in 16 career games at Chase Field. His three-run homer in the third inning Tuesday gave Sanchez a 3-1 lead that he never lost.He hit five homers in a three-game series here in 2010, including three in one game, and had two homers in a three-game series in 2013, the last times Toronto has been in Arizona. He has 16 RBI in 16 games at Chase Field.I see the ball real well and I feel confident in this ball park, so it works out, Encarnacion said. Maybe its the hitters eye, I dont know.Encarnacion will be a free agent when his four-year, $37 million contract expires this winter, and Chase Field might provide a welcome home, except for the fact that four-time All Star Paul Goldschmidt is a fixture at first. If they had average Joe, they might sign (Encarnacion), Toronto manager Jon Gibbons said. I dont know what it is, but he likes hitting here.Hitters on both sides often have talked about the good visibility provided by the 40-foot green fence in dead center field.Toronto right-hander Marcus Stroman will oppose Corbin on Wednesday as the Jays look to win for the 11th time in 15 games. Stroman is 7-4 with a 5.15 ERA in his first full season in the rotation. He missed most of last season with a knee injury suffered in spring training. The series matches Encarnacion and Arizona third baseman Jake Lamb, two of the hottest hitters in the majors. Since June 10, Encarnacion is hitting .333 with nine doubles, 13 homers, 37 RBI and a .765 slugging percentage. Only Lamb has a higher slugging percentage (.844) in the same span. Lamb, the reigning NL player of the week, was 0-for-4 Tuesday.Sanchez commanded both sides of the plate with his fastball and made his best pitchers when it was most appropriate, although that is not unusual for him this season. The D-backs were 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position, scoring their lone run on a groundout.Opponents are hitting .189 against him with runners in scoring position, best on a stingy staff. Opponents are hitting .198 against both R.A. Dickey and J.A. Happ.Sanchez has thrown 125 1/3 innings this season, eight short of his career high at several levels in 2014, and it seems to only a matter of time until the Jays move him to the bullpen in an attempt to save his innings. Its something I cant control, Sanchez said. Im going to go out there and take the ball every five days until they tell me not to. Thats all Im worried about really. When the time comes, then well have to worry about it. For now, just continue to do what I have been doing. Cheap Jerseys From China . MILWAUKEE -- The starting pitchers in Sundays game between the Milwaukee Brewers are 32 and 31 years old.One is a veteran with a pair of World Series rings on his hand while the other is a rookie phenom who has bounced around in baseballs wilderness. The latter is Brewers starter Junior Guerra, who was plucked off the waiver wire a day after the season ended in 2015. Guerra, originally slated to provide some minor league bullpen depth, has emerged as one of the teams most consistent starters, going 6-2 with a 3.06 ERA while striking out 78 in 88 1/3 innings of work.Milwaukee gave Guerra an extra day of rest coming out of the All-Star break before returning to the mound July 19, when he allowed two runs over six innings but didnt take a decision in Milwaukees 3-2 loss to the Pirates. The extra rest came as Milwaukee tries to keep an eye on Guerras workload. He has pitched one inning more than he worked all of last season while in the White Sox minor league system. We wanted to give Guerra a longer break, pitching coach Derek Johnson said prior to his last start. We think it will help but he wasnt showing any fatigue. He has been very strong. It seems like he gets better as the game goes on, which I think is a good trait. ... This is the first time he has been a starter in the big leagues, and the strain and stresss of that.dddddddddddd You hope it doesnt backfire where a guy has too much time off but I dont think it will happen.Guerra allowed three runs over seven innings while striking out a career-high 11 in his only career appearance against the Cubs -- a 3-0 Brewers victory May 19 at Miller Park.Jon Lester (10-4, 2.89 ERA) makes his second start of the second half for the Cubs. He allowed a run over 7 2/3 innings against the Mets last time out but since winning five in a row from May 27-June 18, hes 1-1 with a 5.74 ERA in five starts. After beating the Mets, Lester said hed identified some flaws with his delivery that hes since corrected. You start worrying about that stuff, youre far gone, Lester said. Then youre thinking too deep. Youre worried about things you shouldnt.Lester makes his fifth career start against the Brewers. Hes 2-2 with a 2.22 ERA in his four previous outings against Milwaukee, but hasnt faced the Brewers this season.Among Brewers regulars, only Ryan Braun (5-for-13) has more than five at-bats against Lester. The Brewers looks to take their second consecutive series with the Cubs, who have still won 18 of the last 26 meetings between the National League Central rivals.
