Its nice to know that weve won two out of threeErstellt 08.11.2019 14:43 von MJL456 08.11.2019 14:43 In der Kategorie Allgemein.off with a second gold medal to bookErstellt 08.11.2019 14:42 von MJL456 08.11.2019 14:42 In der Kategorie Allgemein.DENVER -- Brandon McManus was wide left and now the defending Super Bowl champs are on the outside looking in on the AFC playoff race, too.The Kansas City Chiefs capitalized on short field position following McManus missed 62-yard attempt to drive down and win it 30-27 on Cairo Santos 34-yarder that clanked off the left upright and over the crossbar in the final second of overtime Sunday night. That left the Chiefs (8-3) a game behind Oakland (9-2) in the AFC West while the Broncos (7-4) slipped behind the Dolphins (7-4) for the current final playoff spot.In pregame remarks on the NBC broadcast, DeMarcus Ware called this a must-win game for us. And this right here will put us over the top, put us to the next level.Instead, the defending champs slipped behind a six-pack of teams, including division leaders Houston and Baltimore, which both have worse records than Denver at 6-5.Winners of six straight games, Miami has the Broncos beat on the conference tiebreaker as it stands now.We just got to get into the playoffs, cornerback Chris Harris Jr. said. I feel like if we get in the playoffs, we can be scary for anybody. That task just got a whole lot trickier for the Broncos, who hit the road for the next two games, at Jacksonville and Tennessee, before returning home for a game against New England. They wrap up against the Chiefs and Raiders. The Broncos have won the AFC West each of the last five years but theyve already lost to every team in the division.KUBIAKS TOUGH NIGHT: Not only did he pick what turned out to be the wrong move -- punt, go for it or try the field goal -- on fourth-and-10 from the Chiefs 34 with just over a minute remaining -- but Broncos coach Gary Kubiak also got whistled for getting in the way of an official running down the sideline. That took 15 yards off Emmanuel Sanders 64-yard catch. But the Broncos bailed out their coach two plays later when Trevor Siemian hit Sanders for a 35-yard touchdown. They couldnt bail him out after McManus missed what would have been the longest game-winning overtime field goal in NFL history.BREAKDOWNS: The Broncos special teams had a rough night as they allowed an 86-yard kick return for a score by Tyreek Hill, saw Jordan Norwood muff a punt and were called for an illegal formation on a field goal attempt, which led to a Kansas City touchdown. All this after special teams came up big at New Orleans two weeks earlier by blocking an extra point and returning it for the first game-winning defensive 2-point play in NFL history.Norwood recovered his first muff in the first half but it set up Kansas Citys safety. His second one came at midfield after Denvers defense had recorded two sacks and forced Dustin Colquitt to punt out of his own end zone.Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib shoved Norwood in the back as he was trudging off the field following the turnover. This loss right here was on everybody -- offensively, defensively, special teams, coaching, Sanders said. Everybody didnt do their job tonight. Its a hard loss, but weve got to bounce back.REMEMBERING DAD: Chiefs long snapper James Winchester had a key fumble recovery in the fourth quarter in his second game since his father was slain. Michael Winchester was killed by a disgruntled former Southwest Airlines employee outside an Oklahoma City airport earlier this month.Im just thankful to be a part of this team and just come out and contribute, Winchester said.SEEING YELLOW: The Broncos had 15 penalties for 97 yards, including three on Kansas Citys game-tying drive to send the game into overtime. We have to do a better job with that, Von Miller said. We always do a good job with that, but it was just a tough patch right there. ... Well be better.TRIPLE THREAT: Rookie Tyreek Hills trio of touchdowns came on a return, a rush and a reception. Gale Sayers was the last player to accomplish the feat, way back in 1965 at Minnesota.I am full of speed, said Hill, who showed it off during his 86-yard return on a free kick following a safety that gave Kansas City a 9-3 halftime lead despite gaining just 49 yards of offense.---For more NFL coverage: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL---AP Sports Writer Pat Graham contributed.---Follow Arnie Melendrez Stapleton on Twitter: http://twitter.com/arniestapleton Cheap NHL Jerseys Authentic . RIO DE JANEIRO -- Defending Olympic champion Rosie MacLennan opted for her easier routine during womens trampoline finals on Friday, a rare moment of caution in a sport that thrives on daring.I was a lot more confident in it, MacLennan said. The other one was a little more shaky. I knew it would be a bit of a gamble and the Olympics isnt a time to gamble.Considering what MacLennan has been through over the last year as she recovered from a pair of concussions that threatened her career, hard to blame her. Yet she never lost faith, and it paid off with a second gold medal to bookend the one she captured in London.Soaring effortlessly and precisely through the air inside the Rio Olympic Arena, MacLennan posted a score of 56.465 to become the first Canadian athlete to win gold medals in consecutive summer games. Bryony Page of Great Britain was second, followed by Li Dan of China.Page admitted she was shellshocked and could barely stand after putting together the best set of her life, the 25-year-olds legs buckling when her score posted.MacLennans response was more measured. Shes been here before, even if she wasnt sure she would be back after sustaining two concussions in the span of a month in 2015. The first one came during a training mishap, the other when her head was smacked by a car door. Her recovery was slow. Though she managed to qqualify for Rio by finishing fourth at the world championships last November, she noticed an odd and troubling symptom when she ramped up her training program early this year: her eyes would start shaking in the middle of her routine.ddddddddddddIf you cant spot the trampoline you dont know where you are and I was afraid of getting lost in skills, MacLennan said. That fear and that uncertainty took a long time to get back.It wasnt until March that MacLennan felt her confidence return. Working methodically so she wouldnt get too far ahead of herself, MacLennan felt the trust in her talent return. In some ways it was really tough but it was also a reminder of how much I really did love the sport, she said. If I didnt I would have given up.Instead she pressed on in an event that requires gymnasts to leap two stories in the air 20-25 times over the course of a minute, getting scored on a combination of air time and their series of 10 connected flips and twists. MacLennan placed third in qualifying.Another shot at gold on the line, she could have taken the riskier route and hoped the difficulty would offset any mistakes in execution. Pragmatism won out, a decision that ended with her atop the medal stand once again. RALEIGH, N.C. -- A scheduled game between the Carolina Hurricanes and Detroit Red Wings was postponed Monday night because of unplayable ice.A Freon leak in the cooling system at PNC Arena was discovered earlier in the day. The issue was fixed, but not in time to restart the game. NHL rules state a game cannot start less than 22 hours before a teams next scheduled contest, and the Red Wings are set to play at Tampa Bay at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.Carolina announced a delay on Twitter about 15 minutes before the scheduled start time of 7 p.m., then publicized the postponement around 8:45 p.m.Hurricanes President Don Waddell said a makeup date would probably be decided on Tuesday or Wednesday.Ive seen games cancelled for ice storms and weather, but this is the first one Ive seen because of a seal in the compressors, Carolina general manager Ron Francis said. I dont remember an issue similar to this. Its certainly frustrating.Waddell said the problem was indicated by a computer at about 6 p.m.We had to fix the part that broke and then bring the gas in to fix the Freon, Waddell said. The problem was that the ice temperature got up to about 30 degrees, so once we started chilling it, it was dropping, but at the rate it was dropping, we could not have been comfortable with it until about 9:45. And the safety of the players obviously is first and foremost.Waddell said the normal ice temperature at the start of a game is 18 degrees, but the temperature when the game was postponed was 24.Ive never been a part of something like this, Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said. But the No. 11 concern has to be the safety of the players and the referees.dddddddddddd It was determined we could not get the ice conditions to where they needed to be in time since were playing tomorrow as well.Added Detroit captain Henrik Zetterberg: Its just one of those things. Well get into Tampa a little earlier and there will be a morning skate instead of the optional. Thats the only difference (for Tuesday). The Hurricanes wrote on their Twitter account that they will post ticket and parking refund information on the team website. It was the first time a hockey game at the arena -- which opened for the 1999-2000 season -- was postponed because of technical issues.Three NHL games were postponed in January because of a massive snowstorm. Goal accomplished, Freeze said after the Rebels snapped a three-game losing streak with a 37-27 win over Georgia Southern. The win didnt come easily for the Rebels (4-5, 1-4 Southeastern Conference), who were forced to overcome a 21-10 deficit after the opening 20 minutes. Quarterback Chad Kelly, who accounted for 249 yards of total offense and three touchdowns, hobbled off in the third quarter, favoring his right knee and ankle.Kelly, 16 of 23 for 233 yards passing, remained in the bench area in the fourth quarter and left the field without assistance after the game. He did not appear at the post-game press conference.I havent got a clue, answered Freeze when asked about Kellys status. He came back to the sidelines and he will get an MRI tomorrow. Well let our doctors look at it and they will let us know tomorrow.Kelly was the decisive factor in leading three consecutive touchdown drives in the final 10 minutes of the first half. Kelly capped the drives with scoring runs of 3 and 5 yards and a 38-yard touchdown pass to Evan Engram.Akeem Judd rushed for a season-high 139 yards on 26 carries with a 9-yard touchdown run. Gary Wunderlich added field goals of 35, 29 and 38 yards as the Rebels had 441 yards of total offense.Akeem had a solid day. He was important as we managed the game after Kelly went out, Freeze said. I always want to see more, but Ive learned one thing this season and thats to celebrate the good times.Today was a good day for us.Freeze has spent most of the season watching the Rebels build big leads, only to see them disappear in the second half. Georgia Southern (4-5, 3-2 Sun Belt Conference) reversed the pattern, racing to the early lead before the Rebels rallied to gain control.Kevin Ellison connected with Myles Campbell on a 29-yard scoring pass before adding a 9-yard touchdown run. Campbell led all receivers with 121 yards on four receptions. Matt Breida scored on a 68-yard touchdown run to cap the early offensive outburst.Georgia Southern dropped their fifth game in the last six starts despite 401 yards of total offense. The option-based Eagles rushed for 267 yards, highlighted by Breida with 100 yards on 22 carries, but managed only two field goals in the second half. There are no moral victories by any stretch of the imagination, but I do think what you saw today was a vast improvement over the last time we played, Georgia Southern coach Tyson Summers said. I thought Kevin (Ellison) did a nice job managing the game through it all.THE TAKEAWAYOLE MISS: After an unsettling 20 opening minutes, the defense turned in an effective performance. End Fadol Brown, plagued by injuries, had a game-high 14 tackles. The Rebels will need defensive production with successive road dates at No. 7 Texas A & M and Vanderbilt.GEORGIA SOUTHERN: Younghoe Koo, after converting 14 consecutive field goals , narrowly missed a 54-yard attempt on the final play of the first half. Good luck the rest of the season. Love you all, Chooch! Gracias.Ruiz was sent with cash to the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday, a day off for the Phillies. In exchange, they received veteran catcher A.J. Ellis, minor league pitcher Tommy Bergjans and a player to be named. The 37-year-old Ruiz spent 11 seasons with the Phillies and helped them win five straight NL East crowns (2007-11), two pennants (2008-09) and the 2008 World Series championship. He had been in the organization for more than 17 years since signing out of Panama in 1998.Its tough. Im trying to think of the right words. The thing about Chooch, he was the quarterback, in a sense, said first baseman Ryan Howard, now the only remaining player from Philadelphias 2008 title team. The way he handled the pitching staff, the way he prepared himself for games with the pitchers from a defensive standpoint, and just kind of knowing different situations, Howard added. And then just the way he played the game. He was a fireball. He was a fireball out there. Im definitely going to miss him.Ellis is expected to join the Phillies in time for Saturday nights game against the Mets. Cameron Rupp started behind the plate Friday and went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts.Jose Reyes and Cabrera opened the Mets half of the first inning with consecutive home runs, just the second time the franchise has accomplished that feat. The 43-year-old Colon (12-7) carried a two-hitter into the eighth and took over the team lead in wins as New York began a pivotal 10-game homestand by winning for the fifth time in its past six.Colon is different than any pitcher you see nowadays. You dont see too many guys throwing 88 (mph), just fastballs, just sinking it, Phillies outfielder Peter Bourjos said. Hes kind of a rare bird.He does a good job of locating the ball, changing speeds on his fastball and working quick. At the plate, the pudgy pitcher lashed two sharp hits that delighted the crowd, a leadoff double in the fifth and a line-drive single in thee sixth.dddddddddddd He scored both times, first ahead of Flores third career slam and then in front of Cabreras second homer of the night. The switch-hitting shortstop became the first Mets player to go deep from both sides in one game since Carlos Beltran at Colorado on May 12, 2011.A tiring Colon gave up four straight hits to start the eighth but walked off the mound to a warm ovation. The only other time he got two hits in a game was in August 2002 with the Montreal Expos against Milwaukee.Colon just seems to own us, Philadelphia manager Pete Mackanin said. We cant square the ball up off of him.Phillies starter Adam Morgan (1-8) gave up two homers on his first five pitches but soon recovered. He was trailing 2-1 when Neil Walker worked a nine-pitch walk to load the bases with two outs in the fifth.Flores reached down and lofted the next delivery over the fence in left-center.Morgan, who has dropped eight straight decisions, allowed eight hits and matched a career high with eight strikeouts in five innings. He was unable to build on a strong outing his last time out against St. Louis.Itll happen. Im definitely not giving up on myself or this team, Morgan said. The left-hander was fortunate to avoid a serious injury, too, when he barely ducked out of the way of Yoenis Cespedes screaming line drive.Morgan, hit by a liner earlier this season, spun around and crouched in front of the mound as he caught his breath. The crowd let out a trio of collective groans as the big video board showed three replays of the ball whizzing just above Morgans head.I just know that Im learning. I see improvements. Sure, the home runs and the numbers will tell you different, but I see improvements, Morgan said.QUICK LOOKBefore the game, the Phillies called up touted catching prospect Jorge Alfaro from Double-A Reading. The Goodison Park boss is desperate to retain the squad which has climbed the Premier League table in recent weeks and is pressing for a place in Europe next season. Speculation has been rife over the futures of goalkeeper Tim Howard, 36, and 33-year-old defender Phil Jagielka, with the latter linked with a move to the Chinese Premier League. But speaking at the news briefing ahead of Saturdays home game against West Brom, Martinez said: Another of those rumours. Im sure someone somewhere has come up with a story and people have been following that up, nothing else. I can guarantee nobody is going to leave before the end of the season unless it is going to be a loan move to the Championship. Roberto Martinez We are not in a situation to lose players. Phil is our club captain and has been at a really good level. There is no substance whatsoever in that story. However, Martinez has refused to rule out sending some of his fringe players out on loan to the Championship. At the moment, the only thing we are concentrating on is where we are after the January window, Martinez said. Meanwhile, hed like his squad to score more than just one.Jonathan Villar homered, but the Brewers only managed two runners in scoring position in Milwaukees 3-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. Our only hits were with two outs in the inning and we didnt have a hit with men on bases at all today, Counsell said. It was a quiet day offensively, for sure.Milwaukee has lost 10 of its last 14, but this four-game sweep was particularly painful. The Brewers came into the series 64-17 against the Pirates at Miller Park since 2007.Theyre playing well right now and they certainly have the weapons to do well, Counsell said.John Jaso and Gregory Polanco each homered in the sixth off Brewers starter Chase Anderson (7-11) to complete Pittsburghs first sweep at Miller Park since 2004. Starling Marte added a solo shot in the eighth. The command was there for me today for the most part, just got away from me in the sixth inning, Anderson said.Anderson again failed to get out of the sixth inning for Milwaukee -- for the 11th time in his last 12 starts. He worked his way out of a bases loaded jam with one out in the fourth, but grooved a pair of pitches in his final inning and was pulled after Polancos shot put Pittsburgh ahead for good. That lineup and their starting pitching is pretty good, Anderson said. Its tough to face those guys.SUPER NOVAIvan Nova threw six sharp innings before leaving early because of a hurting left hamstring and the Pittsburgh Pirates hit three solo homers for their eighth straight road victory.Nova (4-0) retired 10 of his final 11 batters after allowing Villars solo homer in the third. He scattered three hits and struck out four before being pinch hit for in the seventh.I was trying not to think about it, Nova said of the injury. It was my first time experiencing something like that. I decided to tell the manager.Nova is pitching like a staff ace so far in Pittsburgh before he hits free agency this winter. Hes struck out 22 and walked just four in 31 1/3 innings with a 2.87 ERA over his first five starts since being acquired at the trade deadline from the Yankees.Itd be pretty silly for the manager to push him out there for one more inning and he blows his hamstring, Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said. He also won an MLS title with the LA Galaxy in 2002.I want to thank Seattle Sounders FC for the opportunity to lead this club over the past eight years, with particular gratitude to Adrian Hanauer, Joe Roth, and the rest of the clubs ownership group, Schmid said in a statement released by the team. My only disappointment is that we were unable to bring home an MLS Cup to our tremendous fans, who have always been supportive through good times and bad.Schmid was 115-79-56 with the Sounders and led them to seven consecutive MLS Cup playoff appearances, and his 228 regular-season wins rank first in league history. But Seattle has struggled this season, currently sitting in ninth place in the Western Conference with a 6-12-2 record. On Sunday, the Sounders lost 3-0 at Sporting Kansas City, and managed just one shot in the game. The results obviously have not been great, and the performance in Kansas City was maybe a low point, Hanauer said.dddddddddddd. Theres no magic stopwatch on this that tells us when the right time is.Schmetzer has been affiliated with the Sounders at various times as either a player or a coach since signing out of high school with the then-North American Soccer League franchise in 1980. Prior to their joining MLS in 2009, he was head coach of the USL Sounders from 2002-08, winning league championships in 2005 and 2007.Its kind of bittersweet, said Schmetzer, who was named Schmids top assistant in December 2008, just six days after Schmid was hired. You lose a guy you have a lot of respect for. But at the end of the day, its an opportunity to try to impart some pride back in the club and try to make sure we win games.Schmetzers first game in charge will be on Sunday when Seattle hosts the Galaxy. The Sounders will start that game 10 points out of the last Western Conference playoff spot.Weve not given up on making the playoffs, and help is on the way, general manager and president of soccer Garth Lagerway said. Were optimistic that we can change this thing positively and move forward this year. The help that Lagerway, Hanauer, and Schmetzer all mentioned was Nicolas Lodeiro. The native of Uruguay, an attacking midfielder, played most recently for Argentinas Boca Juniors club, and has 42 caps for the Uruguay national team. Its no secret, though its not necessarily the worst-kept secret weve had, but Nicolas landed at the airport today, Hanauer said. We have some is to dot and some ts to cross, but we fully anticipate him joining our squad. ' ' ' Weiterlesen Jetzt kommentieren th those two guys. But the Bombers were still not good enough as they bowed 27-20 to the B.C. Lions at B.C. Place Stadium. Winnipeg (1-5) suffered its fourth straight loss and will be hard-pressed to get back into the CFLs Eastern Conference playoff race following a bye week. "Were disappointed with the loss," said Burke. "But I feel encouraged. I thought we got a lot better as a team today. B.C.s a good football team, and any time you come here and play down to the wire, I think youve had a good game." Burke had vowed a day earlier that his team would be improved because of injured players returning. But many observers were left wondering what would have happened if Burke had not decided to have punter Mike Renaud concede a safety in the fourth quarter. The decision effectively broke a 17-17 tie and gave the Lions the lead for good. After handing the Lions a 19-17 advantage, Renaud kicked off and B.C. returner Tim Brown gave the hosts good field position. Burke had hoped that his clubs defence would hold the Lions and the Bombers would get good field position of their own. But the Lions progressed with little difficulty and quarterback Travis Lulay hit Courtney Taylor for an 11-yard touchdown pass that proved to be the difference as B.C. improved its record to 4-2 while atoning for a loss to Toronto last week. "We just had to take a chance that we could gain some field position," said Burke. "Its just one of those things." A Paul McCallum punt had pinned Winnipeg to its one-yard line and the Bombers only got to their five on their first two downs before Burke opted for the safety. The call came after he had elected to punt earlier in the fourth quarter from their 10-yard line. But Burke, whose job security might be in question following the loss, said he had no second thoughts about giving up the two points. He noted it would not have taken much for B.C. to get good field position if the Bombers had punted instead. "I got criticized for not taking a safety earlier in the year," he said. "I guess I can get criticized for not taking a safety this time." Meanwhile, he was critical of receivers for not helping quarterback Justin Goltz more often. Goltz, playing his first game as Winnipegs official starter after displacing Buck Pierce last week, completed 13 of 28 passes for a modest 112 yards and one interception. Burke said Goltz missed some defensive reads, but his receivers also squandered opportunities. "Our receivers have got to help him out," said Burke. "A couple of times, we had some dropped balls in key situations — one that would have got us out of the shadow of their goalposts, and another that would have got us a first down in their red zone, or at least the fringe of the red zone. "Those are two key plays right there." But Burke was encouraged by his clubs defensive effort. The Bombers held the Lions scoreless in the third quarter although B.C. had decent field position on most occasions. "We were hanging in there," said Burke. "But sooner or later, you cant stop a good team from scoring if they get great field position — and they finally did." Nike Vapormax 97 Sale . NEW YORK -- The Boston Bruins are on the brink of the Eastern Conference finals, and they got there on the backs of their suddenly offensive defencemen and a potent fourth line of forwards. They have outclassed the New York Rangers all over the ice in surging to a 3-0 lead in a series that could be over Thursday. If the Bruins start firing on all cylinders, the Rangers will have little hope of even forcing a Game 5 let alone entertaining thoughts of matching the greatest comeback in sports. The Bruins could afford to relax Wednesday, and many of them did, as the team held an optional practice at Madison Square Garden -- the site of Bostons 2-1 comeback win a night earlier that pushed the Rangers within one loss of elimination. New York also got back on the ice at its suburban practice facility, and it was clear the sting of Tuesday nights disheartening defeat lingered. The Rangers are just over one week removed from back-to-back shutouts by Henrik Lundqvist in Games 6 and 7 against the Washington Capitals in the first round, but those good times feel a whole lot longer ago now. Any kind of comeback now starts with Game 4 in New York. Three teams have recovered from an 0-3 hole to win an NHL series. "Were not looking at odds or anything like that," Rangers captain Ryan Callahan said. "Were looking at one game at home, and well try to bring this thing back to Boston. Thats the only way we can look at it, to try to win one game in our building." The Bruins want to cut this short and not give the Rangers any reason to believe. New York trailed Washington 2-0 in the opening round and then 3-2 before advancing. There is history hanging over Boston, including a blown 3-0 lead to Philadelphia in a series loss in 2010 and a squandered 3-1 edge in this years first round to Toronto before the Bruins rallied to win Game 7. "You learn from the past, but you live in the moment. You dont live in the past," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "I like where our team is right now. Were certainly not looking at it the way other people will look at it -- trying to find reasons to give New York some hope, saying These guys have done this, these guys have had trouble doing this. "Were certainly not even going there." Rangers forwards Darroll Powe and Arron Asham were on that Philadelphia team that stunned the Bruins with an epic comeback in 2010. While several players said Wednesday they believe this series can still be won, the mantra was the same as it has been all season -- following the words of coach John Tortorella that the focus must be completely on the next game. "Obviously, we cant win four games (Thursday) night. We have to focus on just the task at hand, which is coming out strong on our first shift," said Powe, who is currently sidelined by injury. "We go shift by shift, we just chip away. Youve got to try to win every shift. Thats how were going to get baack in the series.dddddddddddd" The Rangers had been 3-0 at home in the playoffs and had won nine straight at Madison Square Garden, dating to the regular season. Tuesdays loss was their first in regulation in which they led going into the third period since February 2010. A fluke goal with 3:31 remaining by fourth-liner Daniel Paille, who put in a puck Lundqvist never saw, made the disappointment that much greater. Boston defenceman Johnny Boychuk scored his fourth goal of the post-season earlier in the third with a shot that might have clipped forward Shawn Thornton -- Pailles bruising linemate along with Gregory Campbell. That was enough to give the Bruins their second one-goal win of the series. Paille had a goal and assist in Game 3 for his first points of the series. Thornton assisted on both goals, to get himself on the score sheet for the first time against the Rangers, and Campbell had an assist on the game-winner to go along with a goal he scored in Game 2. "Hopefully it keeps going," Thornton said of the production from the line that was put together during the 2010-11 season. "Were trying to get back out there so weve got to give it everything we have. I have said it a million times, I am very fortunate to play with those two guys. They are extremely good hockey players and they would probably be on better lines than the fourth line on other teams." The Rangers would be happy to get offence from anywhere. After busting out in a 5-0 win in Game 7 against the Capitals, New York has been held to five total goals in three games against goalie Tuukka Rask and the rest of the Bruins. New York seemed to lack the required energy and urgency to take advantage in Game 4. The Rangers have also failed to capitalize on an injured Boston defence that is using three rookies with success. "I like our team," Rangers coach John Tortorella said. "Weve got good people. We need to have more people playing more minutes, consistently. Well be ready to play. I hope we get to another level of desperation. Thats not just running around all over the place, its about winning those battles at key times." While injured Bruins defencemen Dennis Seidenberg and Wade Redden continue to practice and move closer to returning, the Rangers are dealing with the loss of defenceman Anton Stralman, who got hurt when he was checked hard Tuesday night by Milan Lucic and left the game in the second period. His status for Game 4 is questionable at best. If he sits out, the Rangers could turn to Roman Hamrlik or Matt Gilroy. Marc Staal doesnt appear ready to play because of an eye injury. "To a defence that I think is lacking a little depth right now, it hurts us," Tortorella said of Stralmans injury. "Were down 0-3. Theres no sense of feeling pressure. Players that get to play ... grab a hold of it and let it happen." When the NFL came out with its new personal conduct policy in 2014, it stated that violations of the policy involving domestic violence would get a baseline six-game suspension for a first offense, considering any aggravating or mitigating factors. On Wednesday, the NFL announced a one-game suspension for kicker Josh Brown, stemming from a domestic violence arrest last year. The police report, which was obtained by ESPN, is disturbing. On May 22, 2015 (the second straight night the police were called to their house), police took the statement of the alleged victim, who claimed there was a history of abuse that included 20 incidents of physical violence. The officer on the scene wrote in his report that he believed Brown assaulted her that night. She appeared to be genuinely scared of her husband Joshua, the officer wrote. She seemed very embarrassed to tell me the details of her husbands [sic] history of abusing her.Five days later, Brown said, the charges were dropped.Brown, 37, said he informed the Giants of the charge the day of the incident, and a team spokesman confirmed they knew of the incident. The Giants said they did not conduct their own investigation into the arrest, but they said they were aware of the specifics of the report and re-signed Brown during an active NFL investigation. A source told ESPNs Dan Graziano the victim refused multiple requests to be interviewed by the NFL for its investigation.Brown and the NFL Players Association appealed that one-game suspension, and arbiter Harold Henderson recently upheld the punishment.A one-game suspension is curious and hearkens back to the days when domestic violence wasnt taken seriously. Of course things have changed, and respected former prosecutor Lisa Friel vetted Browns case for the NFL and recommended one game. As part of investigating, the NFL would have looked up police reports, sought out a record of past infractions and interviewed witnesses. But what could be the factor that mitigates five games from the baseline? The NFLs code of conduct policy names the aggravating factors that could increase a suspension, such as use of a gun or harming a pregnant partner. But the league doesnt specify or name any mitigating factors. What this case shows is that domestic violence is an incredibly complex and complicated issue, said Anna Isaacson, the NFLs vice president of social responnsibility.dddddddddddd It would be wonderful if it was easy to explain. We dont profess to know everything, but we profess to try to get it right. I hope that what weve done in the last two years shows that were committed to this issue and fans can trust that. The issue is, it isnt easy for fans, players or personnel to determine what mitigates a penalty, or how a baseline of six games can be whittled down to one. The NFL seemingly set a firm policy, and this suspension casts some doubt on how porous that baseline is.Brown, the league and the NFL Players Association have all declined to name the mitigating factors in this case.Everybodys known, everybodys been a part of it, Brown said. You know, guys have been very supportive, guys from around the league, ex-coaches, players that know my character. Ive been very supported through the process. Like we said, this has been a year and Ive had to play with this over my head, and Ive continued to play well and I will continue to play well.Giants head coach Ben McAdoo reiterated his hard line on domestic violence -- while at the same time offering support for Brown. We support the league office in their decision and their stance on personal conduct, McAdoo said. I do support Josh as a man, a father, and a player. We treat these situations on a case-by-case basis. But theres no harmony between zero tolerance and signing players who are being investigated for domestic violence. The one-game suspension without a more concrete explanation undermines the very point of the revamped code of conduct. Players and personnel need a firm understanding of what constitutes a penalty. How easy will it be for the next player arrested on a charge to point to Browns case as a new metric? The process was put into place, said Rita Smith, an activist who consults with the NFL on issues of domestic violence and education. Lisa Friel does what she does, and a one-game suspension was what they found. Im sure there are going to be some this isnt serious reactions in my own field. Ill have to account for that.Browns one-game suspension adds a shade of gray to the NFLs domestic violence policy and allows for more judgment calls, when the initial idea was to set a firm standard and be clear about it. Hayats half-century helped revive his team from 111 for 6 to 269, before the left-arm spin of Anshuman Rath and Nadeem Ahmed derailed the chase.Hong Kong lost their openers cheaply off consecutive balls after deciding to bat, but a 78-run third-wicket stand from Hayat and Nizakat Khan got them back on track. However, once Nizakat fell, five short of a fifty, a mini-slide occurred. It took successive half-century stands from Hayat with Nos. 8 and 9, Tanwir Afzal and Aizaz Khan, to boost his team - and he did this while nursing a groin niggle, which puts him in doubt for the remainder of the series. They eventually were bowled out for 269 in 49.4 overs. After losing their openers cheaply as well, PNG too recovered to reach 100 for 2 in 17.2 overs but they had no one to anchor their innings, like Hayat for Hong Kong. Offspinner Ehsan Khan triggered a slide by taking out their innings top scorer Assad Vala for 43, and from there, with no one to arrest the slide, they were spun out for 163 in 38.2.It was a great moment for me as first game as captain to get the win and to play well, Hayat said after the game. For a guy who is enduring the longest winless stretch of his brief yet staggeringly successful managerial career, Pep Guardiola seems unburdened by the lack of results for Manchester City of late.Looking to regroup from being ousted from the EFL Cup, Manchester City try to stop the rot and avoid a seventh consecutive match without a win in all competitions Saturday against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.Though the Citizens (6-2-1) are leading the Premier League on goal difference over both Arsenal and Liverpool, things are not all rosy on the blue side in the north of England. Manchester City have not won since a 3-1 victory at Swansea City on Sept. 24, going 0-3-3 in what is the clubs longest winless spell since 2008.Of course, among the opponents Guardiola did not defeat were title hopefuls Tottenham Hotspur, his former club Barcelona and most recently neighbours Manchester United -- though all three of those matches were on the road. And while winning four trophies is no longer in the cards for City following their 1-0 loss Wednesday on the red side of town at United, Guardiola was pleased with how his youthful side responded to the challenges of derby life.Aleix (Garcia) was outstanding -- Pablo Maffeo as well, fighting with (Marcus) Rashford and (Paul) Pogba, said Guardiola, referring to two of the nine changes he made from last weekends 1-1 draw versus Southampton. We made a good performance, so no regrets. We were fighting until the last minute. We are a young team. Kelechi (Iheanacho) is 20, Leroy (Sane) 20, Pablo 19 -- it is a good experience for them.Guardiola conceded the six-match winless stretch is not a good situation, but the game served as a testament to his long-term vision for the club that was not going to be sacrificed in this competition -- even against Citys archrivals. The manager did make one move as a precaution, replacing oft-injured captain and defender Vincent Kompany at halftime. Teammate Gael Clichy noted the team dipped in form after the talismans departure, but supported Guardiolas decision, noting, Hes been out for quite some time and he played 80 minutes three days ago. He was sensible in not getting injured again.A common thread for Citys struggles has been the lack of scoring from Sergio Aguero, though the Argentina innternational did not play Wednesday at Old Trafford.dddddddddddd Aguero, who fired in 11 goals in his first seven matches in all competitions, has not found the back of the net in 325 minutes over his last five contests. But the danger man for City in this match could be David Silva, who has four goals and three assists in his last eight against the Baggies. Aguero, though, hasnt been a slouch with five goals and three assists in eight lifetime contests versus West Bromwich Albion.West Brom (2-4-3) enter this match 13th in the table, ahead of Burnley and West Ham United on goal difference. They are winless in their last four matches (0-3-1) after dropping a 2-1 decision at Anfield to Liverpool last weekend. The Baggies lone goal came from Gareth McAuley on 81 minutes. The defeat again showed what a fine line manager Tony Pulis rides as he seeks his primary target of 40 points and safety in the Premier League. West Brom have struggled offensively all season save their stunning four-goal outburst last month versus West Ham United. Their defence has been just good enough to keep them in games while posting just two clean sheets thus far.The two goals were more or less errors on our part unfortunately, defender Jonas Olsson told West Broms official website. If we had scored our goal earlier we maybe wouldve had a chance to get a point. We lost to a very good side and thats the way it goes sometimes.Pulis, who received a one-year contract extension this week, will have to make at least one change since midfielder Claudio Yacob will serve a one-match ban after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season. He likely will make a second since centre back Jonny Evans is set to return after serving a one-match suspension at Anfield. The series has been one way of traffic as Manchester City have won nine on the bounce in league play since a scoreless draw on Boxing Day in 2011. The Citizens are 12-1-0 against the Baggies in the top flight since a 2-1 setback Dec. 21, 2008.West Brom have been gracious hosts to City at The Hawthorns, losing the last four there by a combined 11-4 scoreline and taking just one point in the last six league contests.
