on Baynes was until he put on the mask

MINNEAPOLIS -- Clevelands bullpen threw inning after inning of shutdown relief Saturday night after starter Mike Clevinger had what his manager said was his best performance. The Indians bats, though, couldnt solve Minnesotas own pitching staff and it cost them a chance to add to their AL Central lead.Joe Mauers single off Joe Colon (1-2) scored Brian Dozier from second in the 12th inning to lift the Twins over the Indians 2-1. Colon was the 10th different Indians pitcher to take the mound on Saturday night -- a season high for Cleveland.Up to that point, the Twins had threatened a few times but couldnt push anything across the plate against Terry Franconas carousel of relievers. We did a great job, said Zach McAllister, whose 11 pitches were good to make it through 1 1/3 innings. You cant be mad about it. It was a tough loss no question about it. You always want to win games especially at this time of year, but the way that we were able to go out there and compete and have our defense pick us up with some key plays was beneficial.J.T. Chargois (1-1) pitched a perfect 12th for his first major-league victory, preventing the Indians from adding to their six-game lead over Detroit in the AL Central.Francona lifted Clevinger after four innings. Clevinger allowed only two hits and retired his last seven batters -- including four straight strikeouts -- throwing only 62 pitches. That was the best weve seen, Francona said. The first couple innings there were some walks, but I thought as he sped up his rhythm you saw him be more aggressive and be in the strike zone with good stuff. Its the second straight Clevinger start where the Indians have used at least eight pitchers.I felt like I could have (went further), but I understand the building process, Clevinger said.Earlier in the day, Francona said Danny Salazar would miss his next scheduled start on Wednesday in Chicago due to an injured forearm, and that Clevinger could be called on to pitch a day earlier than normal.Anytime a pitcher like him, an All-Star, goes down with his stuff its definitely tough, McAllister said. But at the same time we have confidence in all of us down there, and theres even more guys now, and those guys that came in and pitched and pitched successfully as well.Miguel Sanos second-inning homer -- his 23rd of the year -- made it 1-1. Neither team managed much offense after that.Twins starter Hector Santiago worked seven strong innings after walking four batters and allowing seven baserunners his first two innings. He allowed only two baserunners in his final five. From the third inning on I kind of felt like I was in control, Santiago said.COLONS BALKDozier hit a two-out single and advanced to second when Colon was called for a balk by homeplate umpire Vic Carapazza. That set up Mauer for his first hit of the long night, a sharp liner into right-center that allowed Dozier to score easily. Catcher Chris Gimenez said he couldnt call time out fast enough before the balk was called. He said he looked in and didnt see the first sign that I put down. I think he kind of just flinched a little bit because I immediately went to the second one, Gimenez said.ROSTER MOVEThe Indians recalled RHP Austin Adams from Triple-A Columbus. Adams has pitched with the Indians twice before this season, going 0-0 with a 7.04 ERA in 15 outings.TRAINERS ROOM:Indians: Francona said Salazar will return to Cleveland on Sunday to be examined by doctors. He said either Clevinger or Josh Tomlin will start in Salazars place on Wednesday in Chicago against the White Sox. If Tomlin doesnt pitch or pitches minimally, hell start Wednesday. If he ends up throwing a lot, then we would flip flop.Twins: 3B Trevor Plouffe went back on the DL with a left oblique strain. He missed 32 games earlier with a fractured left rib and was batting .277 with five homers and 20 RBI since being reinstated Aug. 8. . Manager Paul Molitor said right-handed reliever Michael Tonkin (shoulder) could be ready to pitch again in Sundays series finale. Tonkin last pitched August 26 at Toronto.UP NEXT:Indians: RHP Corey Kluber (15-9) makes his 29th start of the season in Sundays finale. Kluber is 7-4 in 14 road starts this season.Twins: Jose Berrios (2-5) will try to bounce back from a rocky start against Kansas City on Monday, when he allowed five runs off a career-high nine hits in five innings. Nike Air Max 270 Dam Rea . Nike Air Max 90 Sverige . -- Catcher Brett Hayes has agreed to a $630,000, one-year contract with the Kansas City Royals, avoiding salary arbitration. Nobody cared who Aron Baynes was until he put on the mask. That may not be entirely true, but, just like the villain from the Batman film, Bane, Baynes has certainly been getting noticed since donning his face mask in October. Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy on Monday called Baynes a starting center in the NBA, and he continued to praise the Australian pregame at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.Arons a really good player, Van Gundy said. I said this after the last game -- were gonna be in a difficult situation by the rules of tying to re-sign him next summer. The bottom line is, hes a starting-calibre NBA center who were very lucky to have as a backup.Baynes is making the most of his opportunities this season while playing a career-high 16.7 minutes per game, mainly backing up All-Star center Andre Drummond. He recorded a season-high 20 points and eight rebounds in the Pistons win over Oklahoma City in his first start of the season. If Aron were getting 30 minutes a night, I dont think hed average 20 [points] but hed be a very, very solid player offensively in this league -- and defensively, Van Gundy said. Hes just a very, very good baskketball player.ddddddddddddAgainst the Knicks, however, Baynes was largely ineffective, missing his only field goal attempt in 12 minutes on the floor.Baynes signed a three-year, $20 million deal with Detroit in the summer of 2015 that also included a player option after the second season for which the Pistons were heavily criticised at the time.We were criticised because we paid him too much money, and now hell make about triple next summer and we wont be able to re-sign him, Van Gundy said. The critics -- who always know -- killed us for overpaying him. Right now, we can trade him to 29 teams in about five seconds with what hes making. I dont think we made too bad a deal.Baynes player option after the second-year of his deal makes him an unrestricted free agent once the 2016-17 season concludes. The salary cap spiked from $70 million last season to $94.1 million for the 2016-17 campaign, and it is expected to pass $100 million for 2017-18 -- meaning the burly Australian could be in line for an even bigger payday. ion on whether he is angry at the powers that be

SEATTLE - Brett Lawrie feels right at home at Safeco Field. The Blue Jays third baseman, who was born 120 miles away in Langley, British Columbia, had three hits to help Toronto earn a comeback 3-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Monday night. The game was played before 32,300 fans, the vocal majority of whom were Canadians venturing down the freeway from B.C. "Besides Canada Day and Opening Day, this was the best atmosphere of the year," said Mark DeRosa, who had a two-run pinch-hit single in the eighth to provide the winning margin. "No offence to the Rogers Center, but this place was jumping tonight." Lawrie soaked it in. "The last road crowd like that was here last year," Lawrie said. "Obviously, its a positive when the whole crowd is cheering for your team. Its usually the other team. They picked us up tonight. "It was just a good energy. You could feel the energy in the building, everyone cheering for the Blue Jays. It was fun to be part of." R.A. Dickey (9-11) went 7 2-3 innings, allowing one run on eight hits. The knuckleballer struck out five and walked two. He won for the first time since July 1. "I had a good knuckle ball out my hand tonight," Dickey said. "But it was certainly about Brett Lawrie tonight. That was fun to watch. His triple, his double, his double play. He was our spark plug tonight. It was good to do that in front of a Canadian crowd. He enjoyed that." Casey Janssen worked the ninth for his 20th save in 22 opportunities. Hisashi Iwakuma (10-5), who pitched 7 1-3 innings, took the loss. He allowed two runs on four hits, striking out two and walked a season-high three. Over his past five starts, he is 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA. Justin Smoak hit his 11th home run in the seventh to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead at the time. Since July 1, Smoak is batting .327 with 16 runs, eight doubles, five homers and 13 RBI. "He definitely had it dancing tonight," Smoak said of the knuckler. "When we did have runners on, we didnt capitalize on it. "It (home run pitch) was up. I was swinging. Just happened to catch it at the right time." After Smoaks home run, the Jays responded with their three-run, eighth-inning rally. Lawrie opened with a triple into the right-centre gap. With one out, Jose Reyes lined a RBI single to centre, ending Iwakumas outing. Yoervis Medina then complicated the situation for the Mariners, giving up a single to Jose Bautista. Both runners advanced on Medinas wild pitch. Edward Encarnacion walked to load the bases. Oliver Perez entered as did DeRosa, who lined his game-winning single to left on an 0-2 pitch. DeRosa is 5-of-14 as a pinch hitter this season with six RBI. "I always look at the matchup," DeRosa said. "He prides himself on attacking. Theres a lot of herky-jerky motion. I was just trying to take the lower half out. I knew hed challenge me. Thats the type of guy he is." The Mariners put together a rally in the third but Lawrie had a hand in ending it. Humberto Quintero opened with a ground-rule double that bounced over the left-field wall. With one out, Kyle Seager singled to right, as Quintero held at third. Kendrys Morales then hit a two-hopper to third baseman Lowrie, who dived to his left to stop it. From his knees, he started a 5-4-3 double play to end the threat. "I thought of looking back to third to see where he was but I wanted to get rid of it because knew he (Morales) was a slow runner," Lawrie said. "Ive done that (thrown from knees) a couple times. Its not too bad. You get a good feel for it after a while." It was the first win for the Blue Jays at Safeco since Aug. 17, 2011. The Mariners have had 51 of their 112 games decided by two runs over fewer. NOTES: Dustin Ackley started at his old position, second base. He had been the teams regular at that spot but a batting slump and Nick Franklins emergence pushed him to the outfield. "They always told me to be ready, just in case. I see why now," Ackley said. Acting manager Robby Thompson said, "I dont hesitate for a minute to put him out there." . Seattle manager Eric Wedge, who suffered a mild stroke July 22 and has missed 13 games, will miss more. There was hope that he could rejoin the team by this homestand but as Thompson said, "hes doing well. It is a slow process...when that time is, were not really sure." . LHP J.A. Happ was added to the Blue Jays roster before the game, replacing RHP Steve Delabar (shoulder), who was placed on the 15-day DL. RHP David Schwimer was designated for assignment to make room for Happ on the 40-man. Pittsburgh Pirates Gear . FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Addressing reporters for the first time since deciding not to pursue further legal options in his Deflategate fight with the NFL,?New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady?called it a personal decision.Ive just tried to move on from it, Brady said Friday after practice. Ill be excited to be back when Im back, and Ill be cheering our team and hopefully well go out and win every game.Asked how difficult he expected it would be for him to serve a four-game suspension to open the season, Brady said: Ive tried to be as positive as I can be. I think thats kind of always been my motto. Over the course of my career, Ive been faced with different things and tried to overcome them the best way I could, or the best way I knew how. Ill try to do the same thing.Brady didnt elaborate when asked how he plans to spend the four weeks of his suspension, saying: Ill deal with that when it comes. I could have a plan and then change the plan. So I really dont know.Brady deflected a question on whether he is angry at the powers that be in the NFL.I have a job to do, and I try to approach it the best way I can, he said. Ive always tried to do things the same way. Every day is important to me. Certainly, as someone who has been around here for a long time, I know I have to bring it every day. I think I just have to go out there and lead by example, and try to bring it, and show my teammates Im ready to go mentally and physicallyy every day.ddddddddddddBrady was on fire during Fridays practice, which was an intrasquad scrimmage. Although the pass rush held up before sacking quarterbacks and there was no live tackling, Brady was still 25-of-25 in the scrimmage and was especially vocal, his emotion flowing over after big plays.I think its just a way to elevate everybodys game, he said of his approach. Its a very competitive team, its a competitive sport and you have to bring it mentally every day. You have to have an attitude about you, and we have a lot of guys on this team that bring that. Trying to push their buttons, I love to do that. They push it back, and I think that gets the best out of everybody.Brady also deflected a question on whether hes changed his approach in training camp, knowing he wont play until Oct. 9 at Cleveland, saying, Honestly, Im just trying to be as good as I can be every day.His interview with reporters lasted five minutes, during which he acknowledged the support hes received throughout Deflategate. My family has been everything to me, he said. Obviously the support of my teammates, and coaches, and Mr. [Robert] Kraft and Jonathan [Kraft], the whole team, all our fans. I said the other night, we have the best fans in the world. And we do. Hopefully we give them a lot of reason to cheer this year. ' ' '

is lowest passing yardage and fewest passing touchdowns

Pakistan have been fined for maintaining a slow over rate during their victory over England in the fourth Test at The Oval.Misbah-ul-Haqs side were found to be one over short, after time allowances were taken into consideration by the umpires and match referee. Misbah accepted the charge and was fined 20% of his match fee, while the Pakistan players were fined 10%.This was Misbahs first over-rate offence within a 12-month period but the penalty will remain on his record and he could face suspension if Pakistan commit another breach.Pakistans win ensured they would share the series 2-2 with England and gives them a chance of being ranked the No. 1 Test side, depending on results in Sri Lanka and the West Indies. The nimble-footed quarterback got his wish, dashing through the snow and a weary defence all the way into the NCAA record book.TSN.cas NFL Editor Justin Boone and Fantasy Editor Scott Cullen go head-to-head with their fantasy football rankings and debate some of the more notable differences in their opinions. Tom Brady (Patriots) vs. Robert Griffin III (Redskins) Cullen (Brady #5, Griffin III #9): In the last six seasons, Tom Brady has either thrown for 4,000-plus yards and/or at least 34 touchdowns in five of them, with 2008 the only exception because he got hurt in the first game of the year. I dont know if he can keep it alive with his cast of receivers, but if Danny Amendola is Welker-lite and Rob Gronkowski is reasonably healthy, then Im inclined to see if Brady can drag production out of the rest of the unprovens on the Patriots offence. RGIII is obviously great, but its also fair to be cautious considering part of what makes him great is his running ability and hes coming off a torn ACL that will likely keep him out for the entire preseason. If hes waiting right up until the bullets fly for real, shouldnt that present some uncertainty about his readiness for the season? Maybe a couple of series in the third pre-season game wouldnt mean much, but it would probably make me feel better about committing my 2013 fantasy hopes to him. Boone (Griffin III #6, Brady #9): Not everyone has Adrian Petersons Wolverine-like recovery ability, but all reports have Griffin on track to play in Week 1. On the first day of Redskins training camp, Jim Corbett of USA Today said that Griffin "look(ed) explosive," which is all I need to hear to draft him at his current ADP in the sixth round (12-team leagues). Griffin will wear a brace on his knee this season, and hopefully that makes him think twice before taking contact. If he learns to scramble for a gain and then slide, it could also reduce his risk of another injury. If other owners in your league are like Scott, and want to pass on Griffin, dont hesistate to take advantage. Brady is still one of the best quarterbacks in the league and the Patriots offence will still put up points even after all the off-season turmoil. However, Bill Belichick is the type of coach that alters his scheme to fit the talent he has. Entering the season, the Patriots have an elite offensive line and a stable of versatile running backs, while their receiving corps is full of rookies behind Danny Amendola. If Gronkowski is healthy, he is one of the two best tight ends in the game, but he may miss time or be slowed early in the year. Unless rookie wideouts Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins learn the Pats system faster than any other young receiver ever has, Bradys numbers will be impacted. I dont see Brady falling off the map, instead regressing closer to his 2006 numbers when a pedestrian talent like Reche Caldwell was his top receiver, something like 3,800 yards and 28 touchdowns. Maurice Jones-Drew (Jaguars) vs. Alfred Morris (Redskins) Cullen (MJD #8, Morris #13): Just as I hold concern for Robert Griffin III, it would be reasonable to have some skepticism regarding Jones-Drew, who only played six games last season and required off-season surgery for a Lisfranc injury in his foot. At the same time, hes one season removed from leading the league in rushing and is still the one and only threat in the Jaguars offence, so as long as Jones-Drew doesnt suffer any setbacks in camp, hes capable of piling up 1,600-plus yards from scrimmage like he did in each of the three seasons prior to 2012. There is lots to like about Alfred Morris and Mike Shanahan has had success with low-round draft picks in the running game, but I suppose Im wary of Shanahans fickle history with running backs and maybe a little concerned about Morriss heavy workload as a rookie -- only five backs in history have had more than the 335 carries as a rookie that Morris had in 2012. Boone (Morris #6, MJD #14): Morris finished his rookie season second in the NFL in both yards (1,613) and touchdowns (13), yet somehow he is being drafted at the back end of the first round.dddddddddddd Some people might doubt Morris and consider him a one-year wonder as a low-round pick in a Mike Shanahan offence, but you shouldnt. Morris running style works perfectly in the Redskins system and he runs hard on every play. He might not catch a lot of passes, but he doesnt have to if he is averaging over a 100 yards a game on the ground, which he did last season. The only thing that could hold him back is injuries, but that can be said about any running back. Morris is part of the endangered group of NFL workhorse backs and is easily a top six rusher heading into this season. Jones-Drew has led the Jaguars in rushing the last five seasons, which is impressive since he only played in six games in 2012. However, MJD is coming back from a Lisfranc injury that is not something to be written off and can potentially be career threatening. While a healthy Jones-Drew is definitely the best option in the Jaguars arsenal, I disagree with Scott that he is the only threat. Cecil Shorts showed that he can be a go-to receiver for the Jags and when Justin Blackmon returns from his four-game suspension, Jacksonville will feature two decent targets in the passing game. The Jaguars are also a team that will likely find themselves trailing, so they may need to spend their second halves putting the ball in the air as they play catch up. Its not that I dont like Jones-Drew, but the foot injury makes him too much of a risk in the second round where he is being drafted. Victor Cruz (Giants) vs. Demaryius Thomas (Broncos) Cullen (Cruz #3, Thomas #13): For the past couple seasons, Ive leaned more toward Hakeem Nicks in the Giants passing game, but Im sold on Cruz, who has 2,628 yards and 19 touchdowns over the last two years, ranking fifth and sixth, respectively, in those categories among NFL receivers over that time frame. That production also included the 2012 season during which QB Eli Manning had his lowest passing yardage and fewest passing touchdowns since 2008, so slight improvement from Eli figures to bump Cruzs production too. The challenge with forecasting the Broncos passing game is knowing just how many balls will find their way to Wes Welker. If Peyton Manning treats Welker like hes Brandon Stokley in the slot then, sure, Thomas and Eric Decker will keep putting up big numbers like they did in 2012. If, however, Welker is good for 100-plus catches, like he has been for five of the past six seasons, then it becomes more difficult for Thomas (and Decker) to get the same number of targets that they did last season. Boone (Thomas #6, Cruz #13): Thomas targets will almost definitely see a slight decline with Welker on board, so Scott and I have finally found something to agree on. However, I think worries over Thomas or Decker seeing a massive drop in targets in overblown. Peyton Manning threw 583 times in 2012 and 264 of those targets went to Thomas (141) and Decker (123). While they may lose 10-20 combined targets to their new teammate, I believe the majority of Welkers targets will come from the departed Brandon Stokley (58 in 2012) and tight ends Jacob Tamme (85 in 2012) and Joel Dressen (58 in 2012). Thomas remains the most talented pass catcher in Denver and the best downfield threat. Manning will spread the ball around, but he wont forget about his number one receiver, who is coming off a breakout season where he had 1,434 yards and 10 touchdowns. Two years ago, Cruz had 1,536 yards and helped countless fantasy owners reach their championship after they picked him up as a free agent after Week 1. The bar was set high and despite starting all 16 games last season, Cruz came up short with 1,092 yards. Teams began to key on Cruz and he was often unable to overcome the added attention. After signing a nice new contract this off-season, Cruz will only be focused on more and that worries me in a fantasy year where receiver is one of the deepest positions. ' ' '

Week two of the college football season is quite a letdown after a loaded first weekend. Still, there are plenty of things to keep an eye on.BEST GAMEArkansas at No. 15 TCU. Not a lot from which to choose on the menu this week, but the Horned Frogs are considered a Big 12 contender and the Razorbacks aspire to push Alabama in the SEC West.Neither team looked capable of those lofty goals last week. Arkansas had a one-point victory against Louisiana Tech and TCU got into a scorefest with FCS South Dakota State before pulling away in the fourth quarter. Maybe both were looking ahead? The style matchup could provide some intrigue. Bret Bielemas Hogs, ideally, like to ground-and-pound. Gary Pattersons Frogs play fast and like to go deep.Subplot: The SEC got knocked around a little in week one. This is its best shot this week to get some bragging rights back.HEISMAN WATCHLouisville quarterback Lamar Jackson gets a Friday night spotlight game after accounting for eight touchdowns last week against Charlotte. Eight! In a season with lots of big stars, Jackson is a B-list Heisman contender for now. The next two weeks could get his name on the marquee.Syracuse is good spot to show off and get some momentum before Florida State comes to Louisville on Sept. 17. Two weeks after that the Cardinals go to Clemson. Knock off the `Noles or the Tigers (or both) and Jackson could jump to the front of the Heisman pack.NUMBERS TO KNOW11 -- The second-longest winning streak in the country belongs to San Diego State. The Aztecs streak is also the second-longest in school history. They won 21 in a row under the great Don Coryell from 1968-70. San Diego State faces California on Saturday and the Aztecs are seven-point favorites against the Pac-12 team.14 -- Number of tackles for loss allowed by Auburn, most in the nation. The Tigers play coach Gus Malzahns old team, Arkansas State. The Red Wolves had six tackles for loss in a loss to Toledo last week.16 -- Number of years it has been since Penn State and Pitt played. The Nittany Lions and Panthers renew a rivalry on Saturday in Pittsburgh that many Penn State supporters seem to view as more of a nuisance than an obligation.16.7 -- Average yards per pass attempt for Western Kentucky QB Mike White, best in the nation by more than three years. The Hilltoppers play No. 1 Alabama on Saturday.OFF THE RADARNew Mexico State hosts New Mexico in the 106th edition of the Rio Grande rivalry. The Lobos have won four straight after the Aggies had taken three straight. Overall, New Mexico holds a 70-31-5 lead.COACH IN NEED OF A WINKentuckys Mark Stoops started an important season with a deflating loss to Southern Mississippi last week. The Wildcats led by 25 in the first half and lost 44-35 at home. Now they visit Florida, trying to snap a 29-game losing streak to the Gators. It is the longest current losing streak (or winning streak, depending on your perspective) in an uninterrupted series and the fourth longest such streak in major college football history.Stoops has had three losing season at Kentucky so simply getting to six wins and bowl eligibility would be a step forward. Its going to be much tougher to get there now, though a $12 million buyout likely increases his security in Lexington. Eric Paschall Jersey . SYDNEY -- Fans came to catch a glimpse of American hot shot Jordan Spieth yet they were treated to a peak at the future of Australian golf as amateur Curtis Luck took a share of the lead midway through the opening round of the Australian Open at Royal Sydney. The 20-year-old west Australian shot a five-under round in the company of Spieth and Aussie veteran Geoff Ogilvy, Luck firing seven birdies and just two bogeys in an excellent start to his campaign.Spieths round could have been better, but the American was left to lament a poor flop shot on hole No. 8 and admitted he was still adjusting to putting on the Poa annua grass greens.I really like the design of this golf course, its a fun, kind of classic course to play, Spieth said. These Poa annua greens are just getting a little bit into my head, but as the week picks up and it becomes more difficult to hold greens in regulation I like where Im at.Having received a fortunate bounce on hole No. 7 that gave him a shot at eagle, a putt he lipped out and settled for birdie, Spieth then saw just how quickly Royal Sydney could also play the demon after his tee shot at the driveable No. 8 skipped through the green. But the American was more upset about the duffed flop shot that followed, that led to an untimely bogey, and promised to keep attacking the shorter par-fours for the rest of the week.I was actually very pleased with the tee shot there [on No. 8], so Ill just look at it as; I found something on four today...in my driving, Spieth said.I was much more patient into what I was working on the last few weeks and I kept through it there on No. 8 and hit it too good. If I mishit it I probably make birdie there instead. So Im not upset about that, what Im upset about is the execution of the flop shot which is normally a strength of mine around the greens.Luck, meanwhile, showed no signs of nerves and opened his day with a birdie on No. 10.The amateur, who twice qualified for the Masters next season with wins at the US Amateur and the Asia-Pacific Amateur, looked relaxed throughout his round and hit some superb wedge shots that often saw him inside both Spieth and Ogilvy.Yeah plenty, Luck said when asked if hed had fun. Fortunately I had two great playing partners in Geoff and Jordan and they made it a lot of fun for me and obviously I played quite well.So yeah it was quite enjoyable out there today.Ogilvy finished at -2 after having several putts burn the edges on the slick Royal Sydney Greens.Lucas Herbert was the other early leader on Thursday after a blemish-free five-under 67.The highest-ranked Aussie in the field, Adam Scott, and Aaron Baddeley went out in the afternoon wave with?the breeze beginning to strengthen. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Offensive line coach Rick Trickett has a bounty of linemen to work with as Florida State goes through preseason practices. Finding the right combination for the Sept. 5 opener in Orlando against Mississippi might be a tougher task.It is going to be the five guys that work the best together. It wont always be the five most talented, Trickett said. Theyre all good guys. I dont have a problem with any of them. Just are they ready yet?Besides quarterback, no position group struggled more last season than the offensive line. At this time last year, it had only one returning starter and lacked depth. In another sense, its really nice going into the team period and blitz period to know that in five plays after I do my first team reps playing center I dont have to turn around and go play guard or a tackle is coming to play guard, sophomore center Alec Eberle said. Thats how it was at a point last year. The Seminoles return eight linemen who started at least one game last season.Left tackle Roderick Johnson and right guard Wilson Bell -- both juniors -- started all 13 games. Johnson was named the top blocker in the Atlantic Coast Conference and is projected as a first-round pick in next years NFL draft.Johnson said a big point of emphasis during preseason drills has been on converting on third down. The Seminoles were eighth in the ACC last season, with most of their struggles coming in third-and-short situations. Johnson pointed to at least three third- and fourth-down plays in the 23-13 loss at Clemson that could have given them momentum if they converted. Were doing better than last year, he said. When weve worked on short-yardage and goal-line plays we have made most of them throughout camp.Besides short-yardage, other areas of improvement are alleviating penalties and better production in the red zone. The Seminoles offensive line accounted for 35 of the teams 87 penalties last season, including 24 false starts. When Florida State got inside the opponents 20, only 57 percent of their trips resulted in touchdowns, which was the fifth-worst percentage in the ACC.I think it comes back again to the discipline part of it, Trickett said. If youve got an undisciplined person, youre probably going to have undisciplined play. The Seminoles had three different centers last season, but Eberle looks to have the inside track after starting the final six games. Brock Ruble is listed as the starter at right tackle but could be pressed for snaps by Rick Leonard, who moved over from the defensive line during the spring. If Florida State runs into injuries again, depth wont be a problem, thanks to the addition of six freshmen. Five-star recruit Landon Dickerson has made the biggest early impression as he has been taking some first-team snaps at left guard. Senior Kareem Are is still projected as the starter.Last year we had a couple different fronts up there, but this year our biggest thing is five guys come together and being one cohesive bond and doing our jobs, Eberle said. DeAndre Jordan Jersey . After Martin Skrtel put the Reds in front from close range at Stamford Bridge after only four minutes, Hazard hit back in the 17th with a superb strike. Etoo gave Jose Mourinhos team a decisive lead from Oscars back pass in the 34th. Garrett Temple Jersey . Kenneth Faried Nets Jersey . Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey last Sunday. The fine is the fourth this season for Goldson. He was fined $30,000 for a hit on the New York Jets Jeff Cumberland in Week 1. LAS VEGAS -- Jimmie Johnson didnt need to see highlights of his seventh Sprint Cup championship celebration at Homestead-Miami Speedway to tug at his heart during the 2016 awards banquet Friday night. He has a pretty good idea of all that happened. In a certain way I guess I kind of lived it, so I have the fond memories, Johnson said. But I will go back and look at that stuff at some point. I really havent had any time to.For Johnson, it was more about what was said than what he saw during the ceremony at the Wynn Las Vegas that celebrated his record-tying seventh Cup title and a season where he notched his 80th career win. With his name now alongside Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt as far as number of championships, Johnson is a pro at giving the speeches and hearing people talk about him.But it seems that each year, the inflection in the voices of other drivers more and more show their deep respect. The respect that was paid to me through competitors -- theyve got to be tired to see my ass up on the stage, Johnson said after the ceremony. To have them say nice things and to know it was really coming from the heart and not just lip service was really cool.Driver after driver talked about Johnsons greatness. The lauding came from even others, including 23-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps. This isnt just another night for our seven-time champion, Phelps said. He set records and now stands alongside two legends. But for him, its more than that. Its a personal glory and the reward for a lifetime of hard work. And for the rest of us, its the knowledge that we just watched the greatest driver that ever lived.Johnson didnt know Phelps -- a Gatorade endorser along with Johnson -- would come. Just 11 days earlier, Johnson had presented Phelps with an award at USA Swimmings annual event. That was a complete and total shock, Johnson said.If anyone should be used to pleasurable shocks, its Johnson. He got one nearly two weeks earlier at Homestead-Miami Speedway. In some ways, his victory in the season finale at Homestead was a shock as Johnson didnt have the strongest car but took advantage of a Carl Edwards-Joey Logano wreck and then a great restart in the waning laps. Before the banquet, Johnson had said he had not seen many highlights because he was just so busy. Through social media, he did have an idea of how it all went down.Obviously, I watched the first half of the crash [from behind], Johnson said. I saw a clip on Twitter where the 78 [of Martin Truex Jr.] was just raging on fire, which I didnt think was possible in todays world with our cars but thats really about all I saw.Johnson had seen - on Twitter - that Edwards had gone up on the Logano pit box to wish the team luck.I want to see -- I imagine Carl did an interview, Johnson said. I saw some footage where he walked up on the 22 box and shook their hand, the message being delivered to Joey himself.I thought that was really cool. It was so cool I sent Carl a text and just like, Man, way to handle yourself. Ive seen bits and pieces. I guess I havent been dying to see it because Ive seen enough through 140 characters and 18 seconds of Vine or whatever it ends up being, youve got to piece it together. After the banquet, Johnson said he was surprised to see just how hard a hit Edwards had in that accident. But the other highlights? It was soaking in the words, not the photos. That was insane, Johnson said. A lot of moments, it just kept building. ... It was a great experience. If there was any disappointment for Johnson, it was that host and Johnson friend Jay Mohr didnt rip on him. Mohr just gave Johnson a hug and said how much he liked him.As your friend, Im so proud of you, Mohr said.Johnson said he tried to egg on Mohr, but Mohr kept to the script. He can be really funny and is really funny, Johnson said. He chose a more emotional route and paid me a ton of respect, and I was like, You [wuss]. Tough it up and come after me. It is likely few will blame Mohr as much as Johnson. They know Johnson earned that hug.I just think its so refreshing to see someone that humble that thats good and doesnt have to be cocky, doesnt have to prove anything, team owner Rick Hendrick said of Johnson. He just goes out and does his job. Chicago White Sox Shirts . You can watch the game live on TSN at 7:30pm et/4:30pm pt. The Pittsburgh Steelers have made the postseason 16 times in 24 seasons, played in four Super Bowls and won two of them since 1992. That was also the last time the Washington Redskins made the playoffs in consecutive years. When the two teams meet at FedEx Field on Monday night, it will be a matchup of one of the NFLs most reliable franchises versus one trying to shed a circus image that has slowly begun to change under second-year general manager Scot McCloughan. For the Redskins, this season is about proving that they are finally building a sustainable winner. For the Steelers, 2016 is about regaining their perch atop the NFL following last years tight AFC divisional playoff loss to Denver, the eventual Super Bowl champion.More Super Bowl titles, Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said when asked his goals at age 34. Having two is great, but I think every year every team should be striving to win it. I want to win as many as I can.The Steelers and Redskins dont meet often. They havent played at FedEx Field since 2008. But that night was an embarrassment for Washington -- a 23-6 loss on Monday Night Football where Pittsburgh fans appeared to outnumber the home supporters. In all, the Steelers have won five in a row in this series. But the Redskins are out to prove that last years 9-7 season and playoff berth werent flukes -- even if some veteran players acknowledge they were products of a bad division in 2015.We have a great opportunity to go be effective and play well and thats exciting and something for our fans to be excited about, Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins said. But, weve got to go out and prove it. Weve got to go out and play well and right now, its just talk and it doesnt mean a whole lot.Mondays game presents many intriguing matchups, however. None is bigger than Redskins cornerback Josh Norman, the leagues highest-paid player at his position, and Pittsburgh wide receiver Antonio Brown, who tied for the NFL in receptions last season with 136.When you look at a wide receiver in the NFL, you dont have to stop nowhere other than Antonio Brown, Norman said. It starts and it ends with him. Thats going to be a tall task to take on.Pittsburgh is without star running back LaVeon Bell (three-game suspension) and wide receiver Marrtavis Bryant (one-year suspension).dddddddddddd Those are concerns. As is a relatively young secondary that will have to slow a Redskins passing offense featuring DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon, tight end Jordan Reed and Jamison Crowder. That doesnt even include first-round pick Josh Doctson (left Achilles tendon), who returned to practice this week.Steelers wide receiver Markus Wheaton also has been ruled out because of a shoulder injury. Pittsburgh will go to Washington with four receivers: Antonio Brown, Sammie Coates, Eli Rogers and Darrius Heyward-Bey. Either Coates or Heyward-Bey will replace Wheaton in the starting lineup.I think the first game is less about the people that you play and more about doing you, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said. Us being detail-oriented from an assignment standpoint, playing hard and communicating well.Washington made it through the regular season relatively unscathed., It lost outside linebacker Junior Galette (torn right Achilles tendon) before camp even began. But Doctson is back practicing and running back Matt Jones (separated left shoulder) is expected to play after practicing with full contact on Wednesday. Otherwise, the Redskins are healthy save for defensive end Kendall Reyes (groin). But Washington didnt beat a single playoff team last season en route to nine wins.No other NFC East team made it and two divisions rival (New York Giants, Philadelphia) fired their coaches. The Redskins were outclassed by Super Bowl contenders Carolina and New England in the second half of the season and decisively beaten by Green Bay in the NFC wild-card round at home. The Steelers provide an opportunity to beat one of those reliable contenders early in the season. For Washington coach Gruden, it is a measuring stick.(Pittsburgh does) a great job in-house scouting and developing their guys and bringing guys into that building, Gruden said. Theyve been good for a long time for a reason. They have a great scouting staff, a great coaching staff, and theyre very dangerous all across the board -- receiver, if a running back goes down, theyve got another one coming up. They just keep refueling. ' ' '

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee quarterback Joshua Dobbs added one more assignment to his long list of responsibilities. The face of Tennessees program also has become the voice of its offense. Coaches and teammates say theyve noticed a difference in him this year in that regard. He doesnt hesitate to let the entire offense know when something needs to be corrected or when someones done something well.Hes definitely more vocal, senior guard Dylan Wiesman said. He stands up and hell get on guys and call them out. That has definitely improved. That is whats making him a better leader.Dobbs, whose 22 career starts lead all active Southeastern Conference quarterbacks, downplays the changes in his leadership approach. The senior said he has always tried to lead ever since taking over the starting spot for good late in the 2014 season. But he acknowledges he has made a few tweaks to his leadership style.Im just being myself, pushing my teammates, holding them to a higher standard, Dobbs said. Ive always held them to a high standard and have said things when needed, but this year its just holding them to an even higher standard than I have in the past. Im glad theyre seeing that and theyre responding to it well.No. 9 Tennessee has its highest preseason ranking since 2005 as it heads into Thursdays opener with Appalachian State. Tennessee is seeking its first conference title since its 1998 national championship.Dobbs is making sure the Volunteers understand whats at stake. If were not executing, hell let us know, junior wide receiver Josh Malone said. If in a certain period of practice were not executing, well start that whole entire period over and make sure were executing that period of practice.Dobbs willingness to face challenges on and off the field explains why Tennessee coach Butch Jones says that when you look at the definition of a student-athlete, it starts with Josh Dobbs.Dobbs has rushed for 1,160 yards and 19 touchdowns over the last two seasons. He threw for 2,291 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2015.His classroom performance is also impressive. Dobbs majors in aerospace engineering and made the SEC Academic Honor Roll last each of the last two years.Dobbs wants to design airplanes when hes done playing football and has spent portions of the last two summers performing internships for Pratt & Whitney. His latest internship took place in Montreal, and Dobbs said it gave him an opportunity to test out the French he had learned in high school.I could hear it well, Dobbs said. But speaking it, I was a little rusty.Malone decided to sit in on one of Dobbs engineering classes last summer before they started a workout. Malone said the experience left his mind blown.Im just more fascinated he can handle that challenge and still perform on the field, Malone said.Dobbs latest assignment is to improve his passing accuracy. Dobbs threw just five interceptions last season but he completed only 59.6 percent of his passes, down from 63.3 percent in 2014. He has talked about trying to get his completion percentage up to 65 or even 70 percent.Offensive coordinator Mike DeBord says Dobbs still performed well enough that Tennessee ranked second in the SEC in third-down efficiency last season, but he added that the seniors accuracy has really improved this summer.DeBord also described the change in the way Dobbs is communicating with teammates and really taking control of the offense. He knows all of us, he knows how to work with all of us and knows how to talk to all of us, which is a pretty important part of being a leader, Wiesman said. You have to know how to talk to your guys. He has that connection with all of us.Just him getting closer with everybody has allowed him to be a great leader because he knows how to talk to us, how to motivate us.---AP college football website: www.collegefootball.ap.org JJ Redick Pelicans Jersey .ca NBA Power Rankings, ahead of the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs. SAN FRANCISCO -- Matt Moore hasnt been the elixir for the San Francisco Giants second-half struggles.Gregory Polanco had a homer and four RBI, Ryan Vogelsong won in his return to AT&T Park and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat Moore and the Giants 8-5 on Monday night. The left-handed Moore (0-2) allowed five runs over six innings and is still seeking his first victory since being acquired prior to the Aug. 1 trade deadline from Tampa Bay.Im capable of better things than what happened tonight, said Moore, who was 7-7 with a 4.08 ERA with the Rays. The big blow came in the top of the sixth. Moore walked Jung Ho Kang with two outs and nobody on, and then Gregory Polanco hit a two-run homer on a first-pitch fastball. The location was a bad miss, Moore said. It wound up staying over the middle of the plate, it was supposed to be more on the outside corner, more of a chase pitch actually, and (Polanco) was aggressive and he got it.That was the biggest mistake of the night, he added.Denard Span had three hits, including a home run, and Eduardo Nunez also homered for the Giants.Andrew McCutchen had two hits and two RBI and made a spectacular diving, backhanded catch in the eighth to rob Nunez of a hit with two runners in scoring position. In the beginning Im thinking he cant get the ball, Nunez said. You have to give some credit to McCutchen, thats why hes one of the best, because he can make the catch that not a lot of guys can make in that situation.San Francisco remains in first place in the NL West, a half-game ahead of the idle Dodgers.Vogelsong (2-2), who spent parts of seven seasons with the Giants and won two World Series, allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out one.An All-Star with San Francisco in 2011, Vogelsong was greeted with an extended ovation when he took the mound in the first inning, and a video montage of his time with the Giants played on the scoreboard as he warmed. When he left aftter allowing Spans home run in the sixth, Vogelsong paused on his way to the dugout and tipped his cap to the crowd.ddddddddddddThere are moments in these games that you want to hold on to and remember for the rest of your life. Tonight was one of those for me, Vogelsong said. It was amazing.Polanco hit a two-run double off Moore in the fourth, then drove in two more runs with his 17th home run in the sixth.Francisco Cervelli singled, walked twice and made a sparkling defensive play to tag out a runner at home to help Vogelsong win for the first time since coming off the 60-day DL after being hit in the face with a pitch on May 23.Tony Watson, the fourth Pirates reliever, retired three batters for his sixth save.Vogelsong got off to a rough start when he walked Joe Panik with the bases loaded in the first inning, then gave up an RBI single to Hunter Pence in the third.San Francisco missed a chance to add on when Pence overran third base on Nunezs double and was thrown out while scrambling back to the bag.DOWN ... AND OUTPence made a spectacular defensive play when he caught Josh Harrisons foul ball while on his back after stumbling on the mound in the visiting teams bullpen.TRAINERS ROOMPirates: Starling Marte was back in the lineup after sitting Sunday with a sore upper back.Giants: Buster Posey sat for the second straight game due to tightness in his lower back. HELSINKI, Finland -- Finnish goalie Tuukka Rask attempted to make a glove save, but the puck whistled by him into the top corner and rippled the net.The shooter stood in the high slot and showed no reaction to the goal as he waited for another pass from a teammate during practice. The laser-like shot came off the stick of Finnish prospect Patrik Laine, who was the No. 2 overall pick by the Winnipeg Jets in last Junes NHL Entry Draft.Hes a great shooter, said Rask, who has played eight seasons with the Boston Bruins. A big body and a really, really good shooter. There will be a lot of focus on Laine as the 18-year-old forward displays his talents and his 6-foot-4, 206-pound frame for Team Finland at the upcoming World Cup of Hockey, which begins Sept. 17 in Toronto.Hes a natural goal scorer, so if he gets a shot hes pretty much going to score, said Rask. Hes a great threat on the power play. Hes going to score goals. If he doesnt then hell probably get down on himself and might have some issues, but hes going to have an immediate impact for sure.Auston Matthews, the 2016 No. 1 overall pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs, wont be given a major role with Team North America, at least to start the tournament, but thats not the case with Laine. He will be playing on the top line with?Aleksander Barkov?and Jussi Jokinen. Laine will also play on Finlands top power-play unit. With my strengths, you can get more out of me in one or the two top lines, he said. If youre on the third or fourth line, your job is going to be a lot harder with my strengths, so its good that the coaches are counting on me and they know what I can do. Its a huge honor, and I just want to play and have fun on the ice.Competing at the international level is nothing new for Laine (who played for Finland at the 2016 World Junior Championship and the 2016 World Championship) but facing the best in the world on this big of a stage will be a little different. Its a new level for me, he said. Its always nice to be able to play against those top guys in the world. Im excited to play and well see what happens.I just want to be me on the ice and show everybody what I can do, and maybe cant do. I just want to be brave on the ice and show my skills and help my team. Not only is Laine a remarkably talented athlete, his confidence and poise make him a dangerous force on the ice. Nothing seems to bother him. He enjoys the spotlight and wants it shining on him when hes playing. Coaches normally dont like to talk about players on other teams, but everyone is excited to see how Laine will transition to the pro game.Hes got a tremendous skill set, said Sweden coach Rikard Gronborg, whose team will face Laine and Finland in a World Cup exhibition game at noon ET Thursday. The guy can put the puck in the net. He can challenge a player one-on-one. Hes someone we need to be aware of. He can challenge, and he has the shot for sure.Laine is already being compared to former Jets forward -- and fellow Finland native --?Teemu Selanne, who was selected in the first round (No. 10 overall) by the Jets in 1988. Laine does not shy away from those comparisons. Once the NHL season begins and he embarks on his rookie campaign, many believe he has the talent to quickly become his own type of player.A pretty big impact, Gronborg said. Everyone expects him to be a top player on [Winnipeg] and with his age, and his poise and his confidence in himself hell be pretty interesting to see. I expect him to be a top-tier player in the National Hockey League for sure.Finnish team captain -- and Minnesota Wild veteran forward --?Mikko Koivu first saw Laine play last year during the World Championships. During training camp for the World Cup, Koivu has already seen a difference in the young prospect from a physical and strength standpoint. He gained a lot of strength during the offseason and thats usually good for younger players to get better, get stronger. You can see that on the ice, Koivu said. Obviously its different in practice from what its going to be in a game but he looks pretty good so far.Laine is entering a whole new world of talented hockey players and it begins when he steps onto the ice at Hartwall Arena on Thursday night to face Sweden in a World Cup of Hockey preseason game. Star goalie Henrik Lundqvist is not starting that game for Sweden, but it doesnt matter to Laine. I dont care who is in the net, he said. I want to help my team -- and hopefully I can score in my first game. Mets Jerseys 2020 . Altuves deal with Houston announced Saturday covers his arbitration-eligible years and includes club options for 2018 and 2019. If the options arent exercised, he would be eligible for free agency after the 2017 season. The 23-year-old Altuve was an All-Star in 2012. He is hitting .280 with 15 doubles, three homers and 28 RBIs this season. "This contract is consistent with our strategy of developing and retaining the best young talent in baseball," team owner Jim Crane said. "All along, Ive maintained that we will make the necessary investments to create a winning team long-term, and this is an important step in that direction." The 5-foot-5 Altuve has become a fan favourite and one of the few bright spots on a team which has slogged through consecutive 100-loss seasons and looks to be headed for a third one this season. He made his major league debut in July 2011 and blossomed last season whenn he hit .dddddddddddd290 with 34 doubles, seven home runs and 33 stolen bases. "Jose has quickly become the face of the franchise in less than two years, and we are excited to keep him here for many years to come," general manager Jeff Luhnow said. "He provides leadership both on and off the field and has become a big part of the Houston sports community." Altuve was Houstons minor league player of the year in 2011 when he led the minors with a .389 average before being called up to the Astros. He quickly developed into a solid player for this young team and has appeared in 287 games since being called up. Altuve is the youngest everyday second baseman in the majors and his continued growth is a positive sign for a team hoping to rebuild from within. "Im really happy to be a part of the Houston Astros organization," Altuve said. "I just want to keep playing hard and help this team win games. I love my teammates and the people of Houston and Im going to do everything I can to improve and win baseball games." ' ' '

Because theres a lot of foundations and organizations where a fraction of the money that you donate goes to what the actual cause is and a lot of it is spent on company expenses or whatever you want to call it. Thats part of what we want to make sure we are not allowing to happen when making donations. ' ' '

Madrid, Spain (Sports Network) - Reigning champion Serena Williams went the distance in order to win her quarterfinal match, while Maria Sharapova had an easier time reaching the semifinals at the $4 million Madrid Open, a clay- court French Open tune-up. The world No. 1 Williams barely got past Spanish wild card Anabel Medina Garrigues, 6-3, 0-6, 7-5, in 2 hours, 14 minutes at the Magic Box. Medina Garrigues lost despite recording more service breaks (5-4) than her American counterpart on Friday. After getting bageled in the second set, Williams fell behind 2-4 in the third, despite jumping out to a 2-0 lead, as Medina Garrigues won 10-of-12 games at one point. But the American great rallied, breaking the 63rd-ranked Spaniards serve twice en route to one of her trademark come-from-behind victories. "It was definitely a battle," Williams said. "I obviously didnt do much in the second set and gave her confidence to play better." The Wimbledon and U.S. Open champion Williams, who beat Victoria Azarenka in last years marquee Madrid finale, is now 29-2 this season. Shell meet 2012 French Open runner-up Sara Errani on Saturday. Williams is a perfect 4-0 lifetime against Errani, including a victory in the U.S. Open semifinals last year. Meanwhile, the second-seeded former No. 1 and reigning French Open titlist Sharapova stayed hot by handling Estonian slugger Kaia Kanepi 6-2, 6-4 on Day 7 in the Spanish capital. The world No. 2 Sharapova is seeking her second title in two events, having recently run the table in Stuttgart. Her semifinal opponent will be fellow French Open winner and fellow former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic. Williams and Sharapova could clash in a blockbuster final here on Sunday. A 16th-seeded Ivanovic upended sixth-seeded German Angelique Kerber 6-3, 6-1, while the aforementioned Italian Errani, seeded seventh this week, reached the semis by tackling Russian Ekaterina Makarova 6-4, 6-3. Ivanovic will meet Sharapova for a ninth time, seeking a third victory. The Russian beat the Serb in the 2008 Australian Open final and in a quarterfinal in Stuttgart just two weeks ago. cheap jerseys from china . With friends like Brisbane, North Queensland sure dont need enemies. The Broncos insist respect - not revenge - will be the motivating factor in Friday nights NRL grand final re-match in Townsville. But Brisbane fullback Darius Boyd on Monday wasted little time messing with the Cowboys minds, saying all the pressure was on North Queensland in their sudden death semi-final.This week we are the underdogs and the Cowboys have everything to lose playing in their hometown, Boyd said. They are playing at home in front of all their fans and we dont want our season to end.On paper Brisbane dont look like underdogs. They are on a six-game winning run.Defending champions North Queensland have lost four of their last seven.Still, Boyd insisted the Cowboys would be the ones feeling the heat on Friday night - a sensation he admitted Brisbane were all too familiar with.Boyd said Brisbane had been expected to brush everyone aside in the fortnight since their shock round 25 win in Melbourne.Instead they faltered. The Broncos still somehow hung on to clinch wins in those two weeks against the Sydney Roosters and the Gold Coast in last weeks qualifying final. Its hard when you are expected to win games, Boyd said.Against Melbourne we were up for it and did a good job.But against the Roosters and Titans we were expected to win and it was tough. The last three Queensland derbies have been decided by one point - including the Cowboys famous 17-16 premiership-deciding triumph last year. And another classic looms on Friday night, according to Boyd. The Brisbane custodian insisted friendships forged in State of Origin were the reason why no derby was dull.It will be a case of mate against mate when a Brisbane side boasting six Queensland State of Origin stars line up against four Maroons teammates in Cowboys colours in the sudden-death semi-final.It brings the best out of you. When you play your mates you want to get one up on them, Boyd said of the close derbies. Its the respect between the two teams.Asked if ending the Cowboys title defence would provide a measure of revenge after last years grand final heartache, Boyd said: I dont know about revenge but it would be nice.Any time you beat a quality side at their home ground its great to get one up on them.Weve had some classic clashes the last 12 months with the Cowboys and I expect this to be no different. The Vancouver coach and an announced sellout crowd of 18,910 watched in dismay as the Canucks lost 7-4 to the New York Islanders on Monday night by squandering a 3-0 lead in the third period. Indias track and field campaign got off to a rather jaded start with all athletes, barring Manish Singh Rawat and Dutee Chand, putting up dispirited performances. Rawat finished a creditable 13th in the mens 20km walk with a timing of 1: 21.21, ahead of Olympic record holder Ding Chen, while Dutee put in a brave effort to finish seventh in her heat and 50th overall in the womens 100m qualifying event.Dutee clocked 11.69s to finish her heat, becoming the first Indian woman to represent the country in the event at the Olympics in 36 years. However, her timing wasnt enough to make her reach the next round.Jamaicas Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who previously won two consecutive 100m golds at the Olympics in 2008 and 2012, stood first clocking 10.96s.?Rawat, the 25-year-old from Uttarakhand,?was doing well initially, sitting at 10th spot after the 6-km mark. He dropped to 18th after the 8-km mark but recovered to be at seventh after the halfway 10km mark with a timing of 40:22.?But, after the 12km mark, he was at 18th again; he eventually finished the race at 13th. The other two Indians in the fray, Gurmeet Singh and Krishnan Ganapathi, were disqualified following three warnings.Rawat received one warning for either one of his two legs not making contact with the ground. Out of 74 walkers who started the race, 63 completed, with 11 being disqualified after three rule violations.?Discus thrower Vikas Gowda, making his fourth straight Olympic appearance, could only manage a best throw of 58.99m to finish 28th overall out of 34 competitors. He finished 16th in a field of 18 in the Group B qualification round. Gowda, who holds the national record of 66.28m, had come into the Olympics without participating at any competitions this year due to a shoulder injury.Gowda had last taken part in an event in September last year. Gowda, the reigning Asian champion, began with a 57.59m throw and improved by more than a metre for a 58.99m second throw before producing a 58.70m in his third and final attempt. My performance was not very good today. Its frustrating. Ive just had a lot of bad luck this year and a lot of injuries.dddddddddddd I was not able to train until three or four weeks ago. Obviously, that was not enough time to prepare, Gowda said, I tore both quad-tendons of my knees. I had to take a break from training so did not get enough time.Female shot-putter Manpreet Kaur, who holds the national record of 17.96m, finished 23rd among 35 competitors with a best throw of 17.06m. She finished 13th in the Group B qualifying round. Beijing and London Olympics gold medalist Valerie Adams of New Zealand topped the qualification round overall with a throw of 19.74m, followed by Christina Schwanitz (19.18m) of Germany and Michelle Carter (19.01m) of USA.In the mens 800m race, Jinson Johnson failed to qualify for the semifinals after finishing fifth in his heat with a modest timing of 1:47.27secs. World record holder David Rudisha of Kenya won the heat in 1:45.09secs.During the race, Johnson was hit on his legs by a fellow runner at the first bend and he struggled for a while before recovering and finished 25th out of 50 competitors. Johnson, the 25-year-old from Kerala, had clocked 1:45.98, the second fastest by an Indian after the legendary Sriram Singh, during the Indian Grand Prix in Bangalore last month. In the first round of the mens 400m event, Md Anas clocked 45.95s to finish sixth in his heat and 31st overall, failing to qualify for the semifinal. The top 3 performers in each heat, followed by the next three best performers advanced to the next round. The defending Olympic champion, Grenadas?Kirani James finished first, clocking 44.93s.In the long jump qualifiers, Ankit Sharma started off with two fouls. There is a foul line in the run-up area. If an athlete jumps anywhere beyond that specific line, he/she gets a foul. He followed it up by a score of 7.67 in his third and final attempt to finish 24th overall. As the top-12 athletes qualified for the final round, Sharma failed to make it through. LEXINGTON, Ky. -- After playing in the bright lights and hype of the Champions Classic at New Yorks Madison Square Garden, a big question will be how No. 2 Kentucky responds to more subdued environment. The Wildcats return home fresh off their impressive 69-48 rout of No. 13 Michigan State and they will get their answers Sunday night against Duquesne.Great question, Kentucky associate head coach Kenny Payne said Friday. But we dont have to worry about that. The way that we coach, the way that we prepare those kids know that after that game is over, we celebrate. Its over. On to the next. The issue is outside of this environment. The friends. The parents. Their families. Now, they might talk to them about, Man, you all are the real deal. But when they walk in this gym and they walk in our offices, they know its on to the next. So they have no time to relax and feel good about anything. Were trying to get better.Payne explained it is part of the regular process in playing at Kentucky where everyone else is always trying to fast-forward to an NCAA championship. Its in everything we do every single day, Payne said. Were trying to get better every day. Are we happy we beat Michigan State thats a really good team? Yes, we are. Did we play our best? Not even close. Not even close. The top concern for coaches is rebounding. Kentucky was out rebounded 44-40 by Michigan State and 36-28 by Stephen F. Austin. UK did top Canisius 39-36.I think one of the things that has been a little disappointing with our athleticism, energy and length is that we havent dominated teams on the glass thus far, Payne said. Dont see that as a long-term problem, but its something that we have to focus on and get better at.In Duquesne, the 3-0 Wildcats will face a team that is 2-2 on the young season. The Dukes defeated Loyola Maryland 65-60 and Saint Francis 89-75 but lost to Penn State 82-74 and Canisius 78-77 on Friday. We just need maturity and more time together, Duquesne coach Jim Ferry said. The biggest issue we have is the schedule. Were basically playing every other day. So weve not had the practice time we really needed. Our practices have been our games (leading to) making decisions on the fly.Duquesne is trying to restart after losing its top three scorers to graduation. Sophomore guard Tarin Smith leads the way at 15.5 points per game followed by freshman forward Isiaha Mike at 12.0. Darius Lewis, a 6-11 senior post player from Lexington, Ky., is the top rebounder at 6.5.Kentucky is averaging 83 points per game and has three players scoring in double figures, all guards. Sophomore Isaiah Briscoe is tops at 19.7 points per game followed by freshman Malik Monk at 16.3 and DeAaron Fox at 15.0.Freshman Bam Adebayo and sophomore Isaac Humphries share the rebounding lead at 5.7 per game.Monk is coming off his best game with a team-best 23 points against Michigan State during which he made 7-of-11 from 3-point range. In fact, it was the best overall game by Kentucky to date. To fend off any letdown, coaches make sure players are competing against themselves. They dont really know, and theyre learning, Payne said. For every one of these kids in this program, other than Isaiah Briscoe, everybody is still learning who they are as a player. There have been times when they havent been in dog fights before. So, theyre getting a chance to see. Glenn Robinson Jersey . LeBron James and Chris Bosh didnt need any more. Not that North Carolina coach Roy Williams wants to be comparing this seasons team with the group from a year ago, but some similarities might bode well for the Tar Heels.Theres already the notion that sharing the basketball could bring good things again.I think that weve emphasized from Day 1 that this group has got to be a team now as well, Williams said.No. 5 North Carolina will play seven games in less than a two-week span, so there will be ample opportunity for players to contribute. Next up is Tuesday nights home game against Long Beach State at Chapel, Hill, N.C.The Tar Heels had 26 assists on 34 field goals in Sundays 97-57 rout of Chattanooga. Were returning a lot of guys from last year and thats one thing we did last year was share the ball, not turn it over much and get shots, guard Joel Berry said. I think having people back from last year helps with it and just getting the open shot is what Coach wants. Those are signs that the Tar Heels are clicking early in the season, something that was expected with a core group of returners, but is always worth monitoring as roles change. It just shows were working together, forward Isaiah Hicks said. I know the coaches were talking about the assists on points were really good. Those are things we emphasize, working together. The Tar Heels already say theyre comfortable with how freshmen have transitioned into roles. The freshmen, theyre ready, Hicks said. They already impressed me over the summer. The biggest impression among the newcomers has come from post player Tony Bradley. Williams said Bradley is absorbing a lot in a short amount of time.Hes just going to get better, Williams said. He wants to learn. We are throwing about a thousand things at him, but hes doing a really nice job.Through two games, the lineup change of note has come at guard, with sophomore Kenny Williams starting the opener at Tulane and senior Nate Britt with the starting unit in the second game. The coach said hes interested in how the duo reacts, mentioning that Kenny Williams has had good offensive moments while Britts defensive work has been noted by the coaching staff.Im just giving guys some chances, Coach Williams said. When you get in there, you need to play well and do some good things.Long Beach State is coming off Sundays 92-55 loss at Wichita State. That began a stretch of nine consecutive games away from home, when the team will log 4,492 miles during that span. The second game for the 49ers was vastly different than the 95-59 home victory against Division II Cal State-Los Angeles to begin the season two nights earlier.I think the biggest thing is consistency, Long Beach State coach Dan Monson said of what his team must strive to achieve.Monson said hes emphasizing defense with his team because he senses thats where immediate gains would be most beneficial. But the offense could use a tuneup as well, particularly after the 49ers made only six of their last 28 shots in the Wichita State game.North Carolina has some future travel on its agenda as well. After Tuesday, the Tar Heels will play their next four games in Hawaii. Tim Brown Youth Jersey .J. -- Josh Cribbs was in the Pro Bowl in February and out of a job six months later. Jim Otto Youth Jersey . Pedro scored from a pass by Lionel Messi in the 33rd minute and added two more goals in the 47th and 72nd after Valdes saved his second penalty in four days following his stop in Wednesdays 4-0 over Ajax in the Champions League. https://www.raiderssportsgoods.com/Womens-Otis-Sistrunk-Inverted-Jersey/ . "Were just throwing s--- at the wall hoping something sticks," said Tortorella about the possible line combinations for Fridays game against Columbus. The Canucks have lost five straight games and six of their last seven, leaving them in a logjam in the Pacific Division, currently sitting fifth - good for ninth in the Western Conference. Trayvon Mullen Womens Jersey . The team also announced Tuesday that the Braves will wear a commemorative patch on the right sleeve during the season. The patch, shaped like home plate, carries the number 715, Aarons autograph and a "40th Anniversary" banner. Maxx Crosby Raiders Jersey . William Carrier opened the scoring for Cape Breton (6-4-2), but Andrew Ryan tied the game and Brent Andrews put the Mooseheads (8-6-0) in front for good with a short-handed goal at 13:49 of the second period. DALLAS -- Alec Martinez, who saw one apparent goal disallowed, scored 1:20 into overtime as Los Angeles Kings beat the Dallas Stars 4-3 on Thursday night.Martinezs wrist shot from the slot went past a screen by Tanner Pearson to beat Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen.(Tyler Toffoli) made a really good play to me in the slot. (Pearson) was in front with a good screen, Martinez said. All I had to do was really hit the net.Martinezs second-period drive from the left point was ruled no goal because a teammate was in the paint in front of Lehtonen.Stars coach Lindy Ruff thought the overtime goal shouldnt have counted either.I think its a terrible call at the end of the game. I thought our goaltender was interfered with. He was elbowed in the head before the puck went in the net, he said. I respectfully and disrespectfully disagree with that. They look at it for five seconds, and they call it a good goal. The Kings had lost their first three games. Dallas fell to 2-1-1.Thats pretty much the way we played for other than one period this season except we got a break to win, Kings coach Darryl Sutter said.Dallas Jason Spezza tied the game at 3 with 2:07 left in regulation with a shot from the left faceoff circle that beat Kings goalie Peter Budaj. It would have been a feel-good win for us if we could have pulled it out in overtime, Spezza said. Probably makes it a little more frustrating.Los Angeles Nic Dowd scored the games first goal, the first of his eight-game NHL career, on the power play in the first period. The Kings took a one-goal lead twice more during a second period that included two fights and 10 penalties for 34 minutes. Jeff Carter and Pearson scored and assisted on each others goal.Goals by Dallas Radek Faksa and Jamie Benn had tied the game.Lehtonen made 35 saves. Budaj had 17 in his first NHL win sincee Feb.dddddddddddd 12.The Kings had been struggling since losing starting goalie Jonathan Quick in the opening game. This wasnt us, starting 0-3, Budaj said. We definitely showed today in a hot building against a very good team we came out hard. We outshoot them and we played a real strong defensive game. It was great to see the guys have that desperation.Martinez had an assist on Carters goal.Spezza had a goal and an assist, and teammate Tyler Seguin assisted twice. To set up Dowds goal at 8:18 of the first period, Dustin Brown passed from the left side to Tom Gilbert on the right. His pass found Dowd low in the left faceoff circle.Faksa tied the game at 11:40. With Budaj out of the net, Spezza corralled the puck behind the goal line and passed out to Faksa in the right circle.Carter scored from the top of the slot at 1:24 of the second period.Benn tied the game again at 2 with a shot into the upper left corner from the left circle at 5:00.Each team killed four minutes of penalties in the second period. Los Angeles outshot the Stars 18-7 in the second.Game notes Dallas lost two wings to injury in the second period: Patrick Sharp with concussion-like symptoms and Patrick Eaves with a lower-body injury. Ruff indicated that Sharp could miss more time. ... Los Angeles D Brayden McNabb was involved in both second-period fights. Stars LW Antoine Roussel received 16 penalty minutes for his role in the first altercation, and totaled 18 minutes for the game. He had 565 PIM in his first 3 1/2 seasons but none in the first three games this season.UP NEXT:Kings: Return home to play Vancouver on Saturday.Stars: Play the second game of a three-game homestand on Saturday against Columbus.
