WACO, Texas -- Undefeated Baylor still faces a long, tough road -- both on and off the field. While the eighth-ranked Bears (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) are still without a loss halfway through their season under acting head coach Jim Grobe, they have the toughest part of their schedule left to play.Away from the games, the university has multiple issues still simmering in the aftermath of claims the school mishandled sexual assault cases for years. The school faces four civil lawsuits and is now under a federal investigation after a complaint filed by the Patty Crawford, the schools Title IX director who recently resigned.Candidly, theres been some really good days, and theres been some hard days, said Mack Rhoades, who took over as the schools new athletic director in mid-August.Before the Bears last game, about 20 Baylor coaches and staff members almost simultaneously tweeted (hash)truthdontlie -- a hashtag previously used for former coach Art Briles -- along with a story by KWTX-TV in Waco in which Grobe contradicted a university-issued statement about his role in the dismissal of a junior college transfer. While acknowledging some obstacles and hurdles for the program, Rhoades said Grobe and his assistants are focused on the players.Theyre focused in and locked in about coaching our kids, about coaching our 107 student-athletes and making sure theyre in the best position to be successful on the field, Rhoades said. But heres what I think is even more important, theyve also done a great job of making sure our kids are doing the right things off the field as well. All the Baylor assistants, including Briles son and son-in-law, were retained by Grobe after the two-time Big 12 champion head coach lost his job in May following the release of a 13-page report that stemmed from an independent review.Baylor is the only FBS team to be 6-0 for the fourth consecutive season. Were happy to be where we are right now, but I think going forward, its going to put a little more pressure on our guys, Grobe said. The lions share of the schedule now is in front of us.The only opponent Baylor has played that has a winning record was Oklahoma State, and the Cowboys had two drives in the fourth quarter end inside the 5 in a 35-24 loss in Waco. The other five teams the Bears have played so far have a combined 7-28 record, while their remaining six opponents are a combined 25-16.We have to stay focused and relentless, said Seth Russell, 14-0 as the Bears starting quarterback .Its going to be different, just because of the situation were in, heat coming on us, different things coming up, said linebacker Raaquan Davis, who had 15 solo tackles against Kansas. Everybodys got to go out and practice, everybodys got to do the right thing, everybodys got to stay on each other and be our brothers keeper, and play well. Some other things for Baylor halfway through the season:WELL RESTEDBaylor had open dates before and after its 49-7 win over Kansas on Oct. 15. To us, it just shows everybody on the team that were dangerous, cornerback Ryan Reid said. We have a bye week -- again. We get to rest -- again. So everybody else should be should be worried about Baylor -- again. So were ready.LINE SURPRISEEven with four first-time starters on the offensive line, Baylor has allowed only four sacks and is the Big 12s top rushing team (283 yards per game). Really, really like our progress on the offensive line, Grobe said.RECORD RUSHERShock Linwood this season became Baylors career leader in rushing yards (3,962) and touchdowns (36).ROAD TRIPSThe Bears play only two of their last six games (TCU and Kansas State) in their campus stadium. They play at Texas next Saturday, and still have trips to Oklahoma and West Virginia, along with their annual game in the Dallas Cowboys NFL stadium against Texas Tech.FOURTH AND NONEBaylor is the only FBS team that that hasnt allowed a point in the fourth quarter. The Bears have outscored their opponents 45-0 in the fourth quarter, including a 17-point comeback to win 45-42 at Iowa State on a game-ending field goal.--AP College football website: www.collegefootball.ap.orgAuthentic Ravens Jerseys . This should be celebrated because it will not always be this way. With the amount of money given to players by their clubs these days, it is a wonder that so many of those teams allow the sport to continue to take away many of their assets so they can play for a different team in the middle of their season. Hazard cut in from the left and scored with a swerving right-footed shot for ninth goal of the season, which proved to be enough for the victory despite Chelseas forwards again lacking a cutting edge up front. Every sport has officials and they also have stories about hard work and sacrifice but their accomplishments are seldom recognized by anyone outside their inner circle. PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Just count it as another page in the storybook career of Tim Tebow.Tebow, on the first pitch of his first organized game since a state semifinal during his junior year of high school, hit a 91 mph fastball over the left-center wall for a home run on Wednesday. After circling the bases, Tebow was greeted at the plate by his New York Mets instructional league teammates, who had poured out of the dugout.Tebow, a former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback, had quietly taken those teenagers out to dinner Monday and to a movie Tuesday after intrasquad games. Its fun to be back out there playing a game, playing a game I love and havent played in a while, and getting to go compete at it too, Tebow said. Its really fun.The crowd, announced by the Mets at 269, also erupted as Tebow connected and circled the bases.Tebow finished 1-for-6. He logged five innings in left field and cut off the lone ball hit in his direction to hold the batter to a single.I liked a lot of my at-bats today, Tebow said. I felt like I hit the ball really hard four of the six times. Two of the times -- one to short, where we were doubled up, and then one I got jammed on -- those were the two Ive got to get the bat around a little faster.Four of the at-bats I felt really, really good about. I didnt swing at any breaking balls. I didnt feel like I really got fooled seeing it. I felt good seeing it out on the hand. I was just late on a couple of the fastballs. The long ball came off 6-foot-5 left-hander John Kilichowski, who was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 11th round out of Vanderbilt University in June.In the first inning a lot of guys will take the first pitch, and you just like to get ahead in the count, Kilichowski said. And I had some things I wanted to work on because its instructs and thats what you do. So I just went right in with a fastball and he just hit it out.Asked if he was at all excited about being on the wrong end of Tebows attention-grabbing first professional homer, Kilichowski said, Not really. Theres worse things. The guy works hard. He hit the ball hard. You cant be mad at him for that. ... The ability to hit the ball hard, he has to have that. Andd he did that.dddddddddddd Its a step in the right direction for him. There are five games remaining in the instructional league, although Tebow will be away for the one on Saturday because of his ESPN duties as a college football broadcaster.Mets officials have suggested that Tebows performance in the instructional league will determine whether he is ready to be sent to the Arizona Fall League or a winter league, or will just receive individual instruction this offseason. Tebow indicated its too early to know which path he will take.I have no idea, he said. For me, this is the third day getting to see live pitching. I feel better every day. Im just enjoying the coaching, enjoying being here. Well figure that out after next week.Tebow acknowledged differences between his former career as a quarterback and his baseball pursuit. He noted a pedal-to-the-metal approach doesnt precisely translate from football to baseball.Being on your feet for six hours, staying warm and stretched in between innings, thats different, Tebow said. When youre used to going four to six seconds of relentless effort, and now its something where youre getting longer breaks, thats a little different.Still, there are some similarities to his first training camp with the Denver Broncos.Having to adjust to a new locker room, new teammates, everything is brand-new for you -- even more so now than Denver for my first training camp there, Tebow said. But you learn from everything -- the good and the bad. There are so many different things from all of my experiences that I take and bring to this that I think help.As for why he swung at the first pitch Wednesday, Tebow said, I just wanted to have the approach that I was going to be aggressive. Thats something weve been talking about here every day and practicing it -- and really trying to go gap to gap, and trying to sit on off-speed stuff. But if you get a fastball, drive it, and be aggressive.Thats kind of my mentality anyway. I like it. It was probably a little high, but I tried to get good barrel on it, and luckily it went out.
