Sun City, South Africa (SportsNetwork.com) - Luke Donald fired a 9-under 63 in Fridays second round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge and he moved two strokes ahead of first-round leader Ross Fisher. Donald jumped to 10-under-par 134. His 63 missed the course record at Gary Player Country Club by one stroke. Donald is playing this event for the seventh time, with a tie for fifth in 2005 being his best finish. Its been a while since Ive gone really low. Ive been seeing some signs of a lot of improvement in the last few weeks and some lower rounds in the mid to high 60s, but obviously nine birdies around this place is a great round and something I was very pleased with, Donald said. I felt very in control. Its been a while since I felt like that. It was nice to play a solid round. Fisher dropped three shots in three holes on the back nine en route to carding a 2-under 70. He is alone in second place at minus-8. Alexander Levy (70) is in third place at 6-under-par 137. Danny Willett carded a 4-under 68 to move into fourth at minus-5, while Marcel Siem (72) is one stroke further back at 4-under 140. Tim Clark (71) and Charl Schwartzel (71) stand at 3-under-par 141. They were joined in sixth place by Thongchai Jaidee (70), Brendon Todd (68) and Tommy Fleetwood (67). Fisher dropped in back-to-back birdies at three and four to move to 8-under, where he led by two. As Fisher ran off five straight pars from the fifth, Donald made his move. Donald, who was four groups ahead of Fisher, reeled off three birdies in the first four holes to move to 4-under. After a birdie at the sixth, Donald rolled in a 3-footer for birdie on No. 7. The former world No. 1 birdied the ninth to inch within one of Fisher, then converted a 4-footer for birdie at 10 and that gave him a piece of the lead. Donald briefly grabbed the lead with a birdie at 13, but Fisher drained a 10- foot eagle effort on the par-5 10th to move atop the leaderboard at minus-10. Donald joined him there as he made birdie at 14. Fisher reclaimed the lead at 11, rolling in an 8-foot birdie try, but it was all downhill from there. His tee shot at the par-3 12th took a bad bounce into a bush. After taking an unplayable lie, he chipped across the green and 2-putted from the fringe for double-bogey. Fisher took another penalty at the par-5 14th, which led to a bogey that dropped him two behind Donald. Donald wrapped up his round with four pars in a row. Ive always found the front nine a little more testing to score and to go 6- under was a perfect start, Donald said. Yesterday, I struggled a little early on, but today I got off to a great start and kept the momentum going. Fisher also parred the last four holes to end two behind.
