In a global esport where five major regions -- North America, Europe, China, South Korea and Taiwan -- seemingly take up all the spotlight, it can be hard to find any praise for the regions on the sidelines. Ever since their first appearance in 2013 for Season 3, the teams from international Wildcard regions have been popular topics of debate when it comes to the World Championship in League of Legends, where there is always at least one slot reserved for qualifying Wildcard rosters. Hailing from minor, up-and-coming scenes with weaker competition and fewer resources, these Wildcard teams often exit Worlds with abysmal records, losing every game except for maybe one or two.Because of this pattern, many hardcore fans have argued from the start that Wildcard teams shouldnt be allowed to compete at Worlds as they drag the level of competition down and can harm stronger favorites chances of making it out of the group stages. But the Wildcard teams havent been satisfied with last place; they are slowly on the rise from bottom-tier tourists to true dark horses. Here is their story.Season 3 (2013)GamingGear.eu (Lithuania) -- group stage GamingGear.eu lost every game in the group stages except for one, finishing at a W-L record of 1-7. Their only win was off of Team SoloMid who by that point were already knocked out and captained by a player who decided he was retiring. Having absolutely no intention of winning, TSM picked a joke team composition during draft so that Reginald could have fun for his last competitive game and gave a free win to the Wildcard squad. Theres no real special story behind GamingGear.eus disappointing performance; they were out of their depth, especially being in the same group as powerhouses like SK Telecom T1.The competitive landscape of the Wildcard regions back in 2013 is difficult to describe, since so many regions were saplings with new servers compared to the broad oaks in the rest of the world. This lack of development meant it was impossible to make an argument that a Wildcard team in 2013 had any potential against the major regions. Ultimately, all five players of GamingGear.eu would soon retire after renaming themselves to Team Ultra Vires in the wake of Worlds that year.Season 4 (2014)KaBum! e-Sports (Brazil) -- group stageDark Passage (Turkey) -- group stageDuring Season 4, An?l HolyPhoenix I??k was the AD carry for Dark Passage and is well known for his aggressive play and skill, and was even considered to be a possible import for LCS teams from time to time. Despite HolyPhoenixs skill, DP was too behind as a team to pull out wins at Worlds. This Turkish team would consistently become one of the stronger teams in the Wildcard scene, often placing around third or fourth place in future Wildcard tournaments as it continually fine-tuned its roster.KaBum!s name is an accurate depiction of its impact on both the tournament itself as well as how Wildcards would be perceived. They won one game only, but that game was against the number one European seed, Alliance. It was a pivvotal win that helped seal the coffin and send Alliance home while simultaneously sending Cloud9 out of the group stages to advance at Worlds that year.dddddddddddd While its widely thought that the upset happened during the game itself, KaBum! showed strategic foresight by dismantling Alliance during the draft phase, crippling Mike Wickd Petersens champion pool and forcing the rest of Alliance onto questionable picks more suited for solo queue rather a cohesive team composition.Players like KaBum!s Thiago TinOwns Sartori from Brazil were certainly talented, but talent alone wasnt what had been holding Wildcard teams back; rather, it was a wider understanding of macro game. KaBum!s macro-oriented victory over Alliance certainly put Brazil on the map, which would help the region grow in coming years.Season 5 (2015)paiN Gaming (Brazil) -- group stageBangkok Titans (Thailand) -- group stageHailing from Thailand, the Bangkok Titans were Titans not only by name but by reputation as well. During Season 5, BKT were incredibly dominant within the Thailand Pro League, allowing them to qualify for Southeast Asias much larger Garena Pro League. Led by captain Pawat WarL0cK Ampaporn and mid-lane carry Nuttapong G4 Menkasikan, they were able to overthrow several of the Vietnamese teams that held a tight grip over the region, go nearly undefeated, and qualify for Worlds. Unfortunately, they crashed and burned there, losing every game in a tough group with teams like SK Telecom T1, EDward Gaming, and H2k-Gaming. BKT grew a lot that year, from playing recklessly to learning macro strategy and breaking free of the GPL, but the competition wasnt hard enough to push them anywhere near world-class.Fueled by KaBum!s meaningful win against Alliance, Brazil continued to be the hotspot of IWC speculation about how close they might be to being at the same level as North American or European LCS teams. One team, INTZ, was deemed to be comparable to a number of NA League Championship Series teams at the time by the likes of Team SoloMids S?ren Bjergsen Bjerg and Team Liquids Christian IWillDominate Rivera. However, it was fellow Brazilian team paiN Gaming who defeated INTZ domestically and then qualified for Worlds through the Wildcard Qualifier that year.PaiN would be called the best Wildcard team to attend Worlds after it was over. Brazil has certainly grown leaps and bounds, as paiN was the first Wildcard team to win more than one game at the annual event. They looked great in some of their losses and their second game against the Flash Wolves, who were the winners of their group, lasted almost an hour and went back and forth several times. This paiN roster had several star players including jungler Thúlio SirT Carlos, mid-laner Gabriel Kami Santos, and famous AD carry Felipe brTT Gon?alves. From here, Brazil can only hope to go even higher as INTZ will represent the country at Worlds this year. ' ' '

DETROIT -- Avisail Garcia lifted a fly ball to right field, Daniel Nava drifted back to make the play -- and then a sloppy game swung in Detroits favour for good. Nava appeared to have the ball in his glove, but when it came free second base umpire Mike DiMuro ruled there was no catch. That was the first of two Boston errors that helped the Tigers score three runs in the eighth inning en route to a 7-5 victory over the Red Sox on Sunday. "Sometimes its your day, sometimes it isnt," Detroit manager Jim Leyland said. Justin Verlander struggled again for Detroit, but the Tigers rallied to win when Boston made a complete mess of the last few innings. The Red Sox allowed Detroit to tie the game at 4 in the seventh on a hit batter with the bases loaded -- and then in the eighth, they gave up three runs on one hit. Boston was convinced afterward that DiMuro had gotten the games key call wrong. "I know I made the catch," Nava said. "Sometimes calls go your way, sometimes they dont." Nava, in right because Shane Victorino left the game with lower back tightness, went back toward the wall and tried to make an awkward-looking basket catch. A replay showed he might have lost the ball while transferring it from his glove to his throwing hand. "To have a catch, you have to have complete control and voluntary release," said crew chief Ted Barrett, the third base umpire. "(DiMuro) had him with control, but did not have the voluntary release. When he flipped the ball out of his glove, he never got it into his hand. Thats not voluntary release." Boston manager John Farrell was ejected for arguing the call. "When you spend the rest of the game in the clubhouse, you probably have a difference of opinion," Farrell said. "Clearly, the call was missed. He caught it, he went to transfer to his throwing hand, dropped it at that point." Garcia ended up on second, and Bryan Holadays bunt also worked out nicely for Detroit when pitcher Andrew Miller (0-2) threw wildly to first for another error, putting runners at first and third with nobody out in a tie game. Austin Jackson walked, and Alex Wilson came on and allowed Torii Hunters sacrifice fly that gave the Tigers a 5-4 lead. Miguel Cabrera was intentionally walked, and Prince Fielder hit a two-run single off Craig Breslow. Joaquin Benoit (2-0) got the final four outs for the Tigers, although he allowed a run in the ninth. The Tigers were fortunate just to tie it in the seventh. After Jacksons leadoff single, Hunter hit a line drive that second baseman Dustin Pedroia dropped. It appeared the Red Sox might get a double play out of it, because Hunter was slow getting out of the batters box, but Jackson retreated to first. Pedroia threw to first, retiring Hunter while Jackson was still standing on the base. When Boston retired Hunter, it meant Jackson was no longer forced to second, so he remained safely at first. Cabrera and Fielder followed with singles to load the bases, and after Victor Martinez struck out, Jhonny Peralta was hit by a pitch to tie it at 4. The Red Sox took a 4-3 lead in the fourth on Victorinos run-scoring groundout. Verlander allowed four runs and seven hits in five innings. He walked three and struck out four, and his ERA went up to 3.90. It was the second straight start in which he lasted only five innings. "Thats sports. Theres ups and downs. Nobodys at the peak of their game forever," Verlander said. "Ill get back there. I will. Its just, like I said, finding that click -- finding that rhythm." Detroit led 2-0 after the first inning, but Verlander gave up two runs in the second. The Tigers scored a run in the bottom of the second, but Verlander again couldnt hold the lead. Pedroia reached on an infield single, and David Ortizs single put runners on first and third. Mike Napolis grounder tied the game at 3. Boston starter Felix Doubront was in trouble at the start, walking the first two Detroit hitters and then allowing Cabreras double that bounced over the wall in centre field for the sluggers 75th RBI of the year. Fielders RBI groundout made it 2-0, but Jacoby Ellsbury made a nice sliding catch in centre on Peraltas drive for the third out, preventing any more scoring. Detroit loaded the bases for Hunter with two outs in the fourth, but Victorino made a nice catch and held on while slamming into the wall in foul ground in right. Boston is giving Andrew Bailey a break from closing after he lost Thursdays game at Detroit in the ninth inning. He came on with a one-run lead in the seventh Sunday but allowed singles to Jackson and Cabrera before giving way to Miller. Detroits bullpen has also been maligned this year, but Drew Smyly pitched 2 2-3 scoreless innings before Benoit finished. Fielder was Detroits designated hitter, leaving Martinez to make a rare appearance at first base. Martinez made a nice play in the sixth, diving to his left to knock down Ellsburys grounder, then flipping the ball backward to Smyly, who covered for the 3-1 putout. Hunter made a tumbling catch in right for the last out of the game. NOTES: Boston did not put LHP Franklin Morales on the DL after he exited Saturday nights game with discomfort in his throwing shoulder. Farrell said Morales would be evaluated thoroughly on Monday. ... Both teams are off Monday. Boston returns home and sends RHP Ryan Dempster (4-8) to the mound against Colorado RHP Juan Nicasio (4-3) on Tuesday night. Detroits homestand continues Tuesday night. Danny Rose scored the equaliser in the 72nd minute as Tottenham Hotspur salvaged a 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Saturday at White Hart Lane.It marked the third straight tie between the powerful Premier League squads, who have both dealt with some early season inconsistency.Left frustrated from a 2-0 loss to newly promoted Burnley last weekend, Liverpool (1-1-1) controlled play throughout the first half and was rewarded when James Milner converted a penalty kick in the 43rd minute.True to form, though, Spurs (1-2-0) woke up in the second to play the role of the aggressor. They ultimately leveled the match when Rose successfully concluded a play that began with a nifty crosss from Eric Dier.dddddddddddd Tottenham have scored all three of their goals this season in the second half, though might have played their worst overall fixture to start the young campaign. The teams each possessed the ball half the time and combined for seven shots on target.Spurs star Harry Kane has yet to score and was taken off for a late substitution.Forward Daniel Sturridge, meanwhile, was kept out of Jurgen Klopps starting 11 for Liverpool but did come on late.Tottenham defender Kyle Walker left at the 28-minute mark due to illness. HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros dont have enough time for their bats to go quiet like they did Thursday night.Albert Pujols hit a two-run homer in the first inning and Ricky Nolasco pitched seven solid innings, helping the Los Angeles Angels hinder the Astros wild-card hopes with a 2-0 victory. The Angels ended an 11-game skid and pushed Houston 1 1/2 game behind the Tigers for the second AL wild card. Were not perfect, Houston manager A.J. Hinch said. I dont know if anybody is going to run the table, and I think losses anytime of the year hurt. These obviously hurt when youre glued to whats going on.Pujols homered into the Crawford Boxes in left field, helping Los Angeles move to 2-11 against the Astros this season. Its nice to win, Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia said. We have played some tough games. Those guys have had our number. Theyre a tough team. They have played well against us, but we are going to keep playing hard.Nolasco (7-14) gave up five singles and struck out five. He did not allow a baserunner past second. Nolasco had a second straight scoreless start after throwing six shutout innings Saturday against Toronto.I was spinning the ball pretty good, Nolasco said. I thought I was feeling the strike zone for the most part. I was challenging with fastballs when I had to. I was pitching off some good breaking balls to keep them off balanced.JC Ramirez pitched the eighth before Andrew Bailey pitched the ninth for his fifth save.Mike Fiers (11-8) allowed two runs and four hits with a season-high nine strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. We knew in April losing to any team in our division was a big loss, Fiers said. Obviously coming down here in September it seems bigger but its one game. The right-hander retired 13 straight at one point. Fiers had his second straight strong outing after throwing six scoreless innings Saturday in Seattle.Just came out of the gate slow and made too many mistakes in the first inning, Fiers said. Pujols capitalized on a first-pitch fastball and after that I settled in and got my pitches working and kept them off-balance for the most part.Jose Altuve had three hits for Houston, which grounded into three double plays. We couldnt piece an inning together where we had multiple hits in a row or multiple baserunners, Hinch said. There was always something in the way either too late after a couple outs or starting something up with two outs and then them making a big pitch at the right time.TRAINERS ROOMAngels: LHP Tyler Skaggs (left forearm tightness) played catch and will throw some bullpens in the coming week. Hes symptom free, but we are going to obviously be very conservative where his treatment is now to make sure that this doesnt re-occur or turn into anything bigger, Scioscia said. Right now he feels great.Astros: RHP Lance McCullers, who has been out since Aug. 2 with a mild right elbow strain, threw a full bullpen Thursday. McCullers was pain free and will have another bullpen in a few days.BROWN RETIRESHouston Astros TV play-by-play announcer Bill Brown will retire this month. The 69-year-old Browns final scheduled broadcast will be the last regular season home game, Sept. 28 against the Mariners. Brown started with the Astros in 1987 and has called games for them for nearly 30 years.PUJOLS MOVING UP THE CHARTSPujols two RBI broke a tie with Frank Robinson for 20th on the career list. His 116 RBI this season are his most since driving in 118 in 2010. The home run was Pujols 53rd against the Astros.UP NEXTAngels: RHP Alex Meyer (1-3, 5.63) will make his fifth start of the season and fourth for the Angels on Friday. Meyer earned his first career win in his last start Sunday, tossing five shutout innings against Toronto.Astros: RHP Doug Fister (12-12, 4.45) will make his 31st start of the season Friday, looking to snap a four-game losing streak. Fister allowed seven runs in less than four innings Sunday at Seattle. Blue Jays Jerseys 2019 . WACO, Texas -- Baylor University has explained for the first time how former football coach Art Briles and others responded to a womans claims that she was gang-raped by five of his players. The student-athlete informed her head coach in April 2013 that she had been assaulted a year earlier and provided the names of the football players, university officials told The Dallas Morning News (http://bit.ly/2ftNXrC ) in a statement Friday. The university said the coach reported the matter to Briles, former athletic director Ian McCaw and a sports administrator. But no one reported it to the universitys office of Judicial Affairs, as required by federal law, according to the statement.Briles and McCaw have acknowledged they did not report it to Judicial Affairs, the university said. Baylor officials said McCaw, who could not be reached for comment, initially denied having any knowledge of the student-athletes allegation, but later admitted the womans head coach had told him.The internal system of discipline operated by (Briles) was not in line with the universitys mission and obligations, Baylor regents chairman Ron Murff told the newspaper. To Arts credit, he took responsibility for this in discussions with the Board of Regents and in a national media interview.Briles lawyer, Ernest Cannon, denies Baylors account. As usual everything Baylor is saying is false, Cannon told the newspaper, adding, Theyre up to the same underhanded and dirty tricks.Earlier this month, Baylor footballs offensive coordinator Kendal Briles, Arts son, and other coaches issued a statement arguing that the student-athletes head coach told the elder Briles that he had reported the assault to McCaw and the Judicial Affairs office himself. It also said that the victims head coach believed Briles had handled the matter honorably.Baylor has struggled for two years with a sexual assault scandal. Regents have told The Wall Street Journal that 17 women had reported domestic violence or sexual assaults that involved 19 football players since 2011, including four gang rapes, and also have told The Dallas Morning News that the school is reviewing about 125 cases of sexual assault or harassment campus-wide.Art Briles was fired in May, and McCaw resigned. The scandal also led to the demotion of school president Kenneth Starr, who later resigned. On Thursday, billionaire businessman Drayton McLane, whose name adorns Baylors football stadium, said he wants to see Briles honor restored and any evidence that led to his dismissal publicly released by regents. McLane and a group of influential alumni and donors called Bears for Leadership Reform are demanding more transparency from regents, including the release of what was uncovered by a Philadelphia law firms investigation into how the school handled sexual assaults.---Information from: The Dallas Morning News, http://www.dallasnews.com Discount Adidas Nmd Ireland . Indias top-ranked golfer Anirban Lahiri has urged Indian sports authorities to concentrate on developing a sports culture and introspect on how to improve upon their performances at the Olympics.Lahiri, who was part of Indias three-member Olympic contingent for golf as the sport returned to the quadrennial event after a 112-year gap, finished in 57th position at the Games, and has since been taking a breather from the game to tend to a shoulder injury. It felt good to be part of an event that was so different from what we do day in and day out. I thoroughly enjoyed it, Lahiri told ESPN. Like any sports lover, it was disappointing to see some of the things from an organisational perspective. In an interview to Firstpost shortly after the Olympics, Lahiri had expressed disappointment at the officials associated with running sports bodies in India. He had likened the journey of any Indian sportsperson at the Olympics with taking a cycle while going to a motor race. He had cited personal experiences such as having to take a taxi from the airport to the Games village and then waiting two hours before being allowed entry, and the fact that the golfers were denied any support staff outside of their respective caddies, besides getting basic clothing equipment without any sweaters or rain wear to cope with the weather conditions in Rio.I am obviously not experienced in dealing with associations, but all I did was I called a spade a spade, said Lahiri. I think what other sportspersons and I have been saying for several years now is that there has to be a greater focus on developing a sports culture within India. This is the underlying factor behind our performances at the Olympics, and that message I fear is getting lost in the chaotic outcry of Rio.Lahiri, who had won silver in the team event of the 2006 Asian Games in Doha as an amateur, also stressed the importance of making sports an integral part of school curriculum, while hoping that Indians take a greater liking to sports outside of cricket.More people need to realise that it is healthy to play sport. It has a positive impact on mind and body to be playing sport at an older age, and by that I mean late teens, said Lahiri. We have to evolve beyond the culture where I keep getting asked, Aaj kal kya karte ho? Golf khelte ho, woh sab toh theek hai, lekin aur kya karte ho (What do you do for a living, besides playing golf?)Lahiri is hopeful that the sports federations and government agencies can create a vision for the longer term.As a golfer, Im in the sport where were least involved in this entire process. I would wish them the very best of luck, said Lahiri. I must say the vision has to be over a 20-year period, and not just restricted to Tokyo [the venue for the 2020 Olympics].The main issue is of getting India to embrace a sporting culture. How the relevant bodies tackle this will have an impact on whether we focus on developing sports or winning medals, Lahiri said. Air Max 90 Replica Uk . SAN FRANCISCO -- The Mercury News of San Jose, California, apologized Friday for an insensitive headline about U.S. swimmer Simone Manuel. The 20-year-old Stanford University student became the first African-American woman to win a gold medal in an individual swimming event when she tied for first with Penny Oleksiak of Canada in the 100-meter freestyle Thursday night. After the race, the San Francisco Bay Area newspaper omitted Manuels name in a headline reading Olympics: Michael Phelps shares historic night with African-American.The Mercury News, which covered Manuels collegiate career at nearby Stanford, tweeted an apology, saying the headline was insensitive. It was posted on the newspapers website about 9:45 p.m. and quickly removed and replaced with one carrying Manuels name with Phelps. The headline was not printed in the newspaper.Readers took to social media sites almost as soon as the offensive headline was posted to coomplain about the gaffe.ddddddddddddThis is a terrible headline, Mercury News sports columnist Tim Kawakami posted on Twitter while the headline was still live. Its my paper. I might get in trouble for saying it, but its a terrible headline.Executive Editor Neil Chase said no one will be fired because it appears there were no bad intentions in writing the headline.Instead, Chase said there will be a tough conversation to determine exactly how the headline came to be written and published without any staffer raising concern. He said a couple different people saw it before it was posted. We made a mistake, he said.---This story has been corrected to say no one will be fired over the headline instead of no one disciplined, and to fix the spelling of the columnists name to Kawakami instead of Kawakwami. Chris Woakes has been diagnosed with a small crack in his right thumb sustained while batting in the third Test in Mohali.Woakes, the England allrounder, was struck on the helmet by a well-directed bouncer from Mohammed Shami and, next ball, was stuck on the thumb as he tried to fend off another fine short ball. To add insult to injury, the ball lobbed to Parthiv Patel behind the wicket to end Woakes innings.Woakes went for an X-ray after the game which showed what the England management are describing as a tiny crack.Despite this, and some on-going trouble with a sore knee, England are hopeful Woakes will be fit for the fourth Test in Mumbai. RIO DE JANEIRO -- After fulfilling her goal of medaling in five straight Olympics, Britains most decorated female athlete isnt quite sure what comes next. But dont be surprised if Katherine Graingers next endeavor involves studying serial killers and other brutal criminals. Its quite a dark subject matter, the 40-year-old Scottish rower told The Associated Press on Thursday after winning silver in the womens sculls with Victoria Thornley. Its looking at the human experience quite at the limit. You look at very extreme personalities and extreme behavior.Over the past two decades Grainger has managed to combine advanced academic studies with a career in competitive rowing. Before Rio de Janeiro, she had won silver medals in Sydney, Athens and Beijing and gold in London. No other British woman has five Olympic medals.Grainger has a law degree from the University of Edinburgh and took a timeout from rowing after the 2012 Olympics to finish her Ph.D. at Kings College in London.I was studying the concept of life meaning life as a sentence. That looks at the worst of the worst criminals in the view of the law, she said.Once that was out of the way she returned to rowing, but just barely made the British team for Rio. Grainger said she hasnt decided on her future yet but doubts shell be back for a sixxth Olympics in Tokyo in 2020.ddddddddddddId be very surprised if it goes beyond this point, Grainger said. Im happy, Im content, Im thrilled, and I can walk away into the sunset and let other people have this dream. She and Thornley, who is 12 years younger, were in gold-medal position until the final stretch of Thursdays race. They were beaten by Magdalena Fularczyk-Kozlowska and Natalia Madaj of Poland. We just ran out a little bit right at the end there. But Im so proud. I would far rather we do that and not quite make it than never put ourselves in that position, Grainger said. I really, really did not want to leave my fifth Olympic Games without a fifth Olympic medal. In other rowing races, New Zealands Eric Murray and Hamish Bond successfully defended their Olympic gold in the mens pair, drifting away from the other crews after the first 500 meters. The Kiwis remain undefeated in the event, with 69 wins since 2009.Brothers Martin and Valent Sinkovic overtook a Lithuanian crew in the final stretch to win Croatias first ever rowing gold medal. German crews won both the womens and mens quadruple sculls, while Switzerland won the gold in the lightweight mens four. ' ' '

RIO DE JANEIRO -- There are 11,551 athletes competing at these Olympics, all striving for that elusive gold, silver or bronze medal. While Michael Phelps, Katie Ledecky and Simone Biles have won multiple golds, around 10,500 of the athletes will go home without a single medal of any color. After the years and years of training and sacrifice, that is devastating for some. But they and others still will take home lessons and emotions that are nearly as important as any medal. And perhaps more so.The Olympics to me are permission to continue wanting things that I may or not get, distance runner Alexi Pappas said. Because I see so many people around me trying so hard as well. Its motivating to be around that. The Olympics are permission to keep believing in yourself because hundreds of other people believe in themselves, and they want something. And its a scary thing to want something but its less scary to be in a whole village of people who want something they may or may not get. ...Theres an element of it being a celebration. People want to do big things here, but everyone recognizes that its an achievement to be here and that the competitions themselves are celebrations.Of Greek-American lineage, Pappas grew up in the Bay Area and attended Dartmouth. In Rio, she competed for Greece in the womens 10,000-meter run, finishing in the top half (17 out of 37 entrants) with a personal-best time of 31:36.16. Like every Olympian, there is more to know about her than just her time in a competition.Pappas is also a writer. And an actress. And a filmmaker. And a poet. She writes poems for Womens Running Magazine, including a recent one titled Before, Olympics 2016, about such pre-competition preparation as knowing where bravery hides so she can draw it out.Every word matters in poetry, Pappas said. That helps me as a writer to appreciate words, and it also helps me as a runner. Because in poetry there are certain limitations, but there also is a lot of creativity within it, and I think that running is similar.Pappas and her fiance, Jeremy Teicher, co-wrote and co-directed the recently completed film Tracktown, which is set in Eugene, Oregon (aka, Tracktown USA). Based on some of her own experiences in the sport, the movie is about an intensely focused runner, played by Pappas, who competes at the U.S. Olympic trials in Eugene. The film also stars SNLs Rachel Dratch and Andy Buckley of The Office. She eventually wants to become a full-time filmmaker -- I would like to make things with Jeremy for the rest of our lives -- but she also wants to run as long as she can.A top runner and vibrant personality in the States, Pappas could have competed for the U.S. but chose to run for Greece instead -- she was able to thanks to dual citizenship since her grandmother is from Greece. She said it was an easy decision. My goals are to compete at the highest level, which you can do regardless of where you run. But also to have an impact on the sport, she said. Im doing that already in the U.S., but I think I can extend it to a place where distance running was born. But Greece has never had the leadership or role models in distance running. This was an obvious opportunity for me.While Pappas time in the 10,000 was more than a minute behind Ethiopian gold medalist Almaz Ayanas world record, Pappas said the race was the highlight of the Olympics. Thats because the Olympics are not just about winning or medaling. You can draw something just from being here and competing against the worlds greatest in your sport, regardless of what that sport is.Everyone at the Olympics is among the best, not just the ones who win gold, Pappas said. There is a remarkable energy to be around.Pappas was saying this outside the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre, where she had just watched Greek teammates compete in synchronized swimming. She turned to Teicher and her father, telling them how odd it was that she and they were Olympians despite vastly different sports. But that is another beauty of the Olympics. It is about athletes in so many sports. Were different creatures, but were all trying to be at the highest level of something very specific, Pappas said. And none of these things are life or death matters. Win or lose here, youre going to be OK. But that you care about something so much that you almost make it a life or death thing is really special. And to be around it is emotional. Were all doing things that are not life and death every day, but if we can dedicate ourselves to it like these women I watched today, thats the best.Thats the lesson of the Olympics. Medal or no medal, the key is dedicating yourself to doing your best in what you love, whether that is running, swimming, poetry, film, technology, medicine, education or anything at all. Win or lose, succeed or not, the experience alone can be equally important. Carson Wentz Eagles Jersey .J. -- Marty Brodeur beat the Pittsburgh Penguins yet again. LOUIS -- Heading into the final stretch of the season, the issues for the Chicago Bears banged-up defence only seem to be getting worse. COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Even when it would have helped Ohio State for its rival to win, the Buckeyes still couldnt bring themselves to cheer for Michigan. After falling into a precarious scenario in the Big Ten East Division race thanks to the upset loss for the Wolverines on Saturday night against Iowa, the Buckeyes made it clear that the bad blood between the programs trumped any self-interest in preserving a three-way tiebreaker that would potentially allow them to advance to play for the conference title. The Buckeyes were always going to need to win their closing games to stay in contention for a Big Ten championship, including the huge showdown with the Wolverines on Nov. 26. But now theyll also need Penn State to lose once more to avoid losing a head-to-head tiebreaker with the Nittany Lions. For now, though, that doesnt appear to be troubling the Buckeyes. No, I dont root for them, junior captain Raekwon McMillan said. No. I mean, as a player and as our rival, I really just dont root for them at all. Its not a thing that I do, and I dont feel like anybody at our university should, either. It is what it is.None of my teammates were mad about them losing. That was our rival. We did want to play the best, highest-ranked team or whatever, but thats all I have to say about that. The Buckeyes might be comforted by their improved chances of making the four-team Colleege Football Playoff field without winning the Big Ten -- with a potential path opening up ahead of them thanks to not only Michigans loss but also upsets of previously unbeaten Clemson and Washington.dddddddddddd.Ohio State moved up to No. 2 in the AP poll on Sunday. And, after checking in at No. 5, according to the playoff selection committee a week ago, it will likely move into position to contend for the national championship when the new rankings are released Tuesday night. And the ability to stay there will ultimately come down to winning Saturday against Michigan State and in the finale against the Wolverines, whether they get help in the division or not.You know, no, not really; we dont really ever want to root for those guys, center Pat Elflein said. It was just an exciting football game to watch. I was watching with my roommates, and youre thinking about those scenarios and all that, but what I said is we have to win out. First win against Michigan State, then win the rest of our games, if we even want to dabble with the playoff and the championship. We have to win Saturday before we can even talk about that.I was watching, though. I knew No. 2, 3 and 4 went down. It was an exciting night of football -- a lot of upsets. ' ' '

MINNEAPOLIS -- Mike Zimmers team lost a second straight game by a double-digit margin, with a depleted offense sputtering badly. The next day he needed eye surgery. The following morning, his offensive coordinator came into his office at Minnesota Vikings headquarters to inform him of his resignation. All this after overcoming the absences of several injured starters to take the NFLs only 5-0 record this season into the bye week.I feel the roller coaster ride, Zimmer said, flashing a smile thats been rarely spotted on his grizzled face lately.Thats the life of a head coach. Even for assistants. Zimmer took some time after a recent practice to recall his second year in the league, 1995, when he was defensive backs coach for a Dallas team that won the Super Bowl trophy.Beaten by then-rival San Francisco in the previous NFC championship game and again that regular season, the Cowboys slumped a bit in December and needed a win and a one-point loss by the 49ers on the final weekend of play to gain home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Green Bay knocked off San Francisco in the division round, and the Cowboys took down the Packers for the NFC title before beating the Pittsburgh Steelers for the championship. At the end of the year, regardless of what happens, I went in the locker room at the end of the game and said, `My God, that was a long season, Zimmer said. So I get it. Thats just how this thing works. Were not the only team to have ups and downs.Hey, its the NFL.The Vikings (5-2) host Detroit on Sunday, eager to return to raucous U.S. Bank Stadium where theyre unbeaten in three games. The Lions (4-4) know all about those ups and downs, of course, looking back to last years 1-7 start that rendered a 6-2 finish meaningless. This season, every game has been close, winning by four points or fewer each time for a cumulative margin of victory of 11 points. Four defeats, all by a touchdown or less, have come by a total of 18 points.Just take a look at it, and youve always got a chance at this point in time, right? Lions coach Jim Caldwell said. Goals are still in front of you. Here are some key angles to know about the game:MIDSEASON SWITCH: After losing to Minnesota 28-19 in Detroit last year, watching Matthew Stafford take seven sacks, Caldwell fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi and both offensive line coaches. Quarterbacks coach Jim Bob Cooter took over the play calling, and Stafford and the Lions were far more effective after that. Theyve kept up that success on offense this season. What we had to do was work extremely hard. You had to little by little kind of piece something new together that we wanted to do, and go from there, Stafford said, recalling the challenge of the change.Though the circumstances are different, the Vikings would love a similar boost for their offense after Norv Turner left and was replaced by Pat Shurmur. Its not on coaches. Were the ones out there. Were the ones that need to play better, tight end Kyle Rudolph said. Moving forward, weve just got to get everybody to do their job. We have the talent and ability to make that happen.PROTECTING THE PASSER: Theres no question about Shurmurs top priority in taking over the offense. Bradford needs better protection than he received the last two games if the Vikings are going to get back on track. Bradford was not only sacked 11 times but hit hard on several other throws, sending him out of sync after playing so crisply and effectively before the bye.I dont think its a good thing, Bradford said. I think weve got to figure out a way to bring that number down.GETTING THERE: Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah, who missed three earlier games because of a sprained ankle, is still without a sack. Ansah, who finished 2015 with 14+ sacks, has five sacks in six career games against the Vikings.Maybe the first week or so he got maybe a little bit rusty, but I think without question hes still who he is, Caldwell said.STOPPING THE RUN: The issues with the offense had already been exposed before the loss at Chicago on Monday night, so the ease with which Bears rookie Jordan Howard ran through Minnesotas front seven and secondary was more alarming. Howard rushed 26 times for 153 yards and caught four passes for 49 yards.Thats inexcusable for us on defense, linebacker Chad Greenway said. Thats what we pride ourselves on and have for a long time.STAFFORDS SURGE: Over the last 16 games, mirroring Cooters move into the offensive coordinator role, the Lions are in the top three in the NFL in passer rating, touchdown-to-interception ratio, completion percentage, passing touchdowns and offensive points scored among other categories.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFL Nike Air Max 270 Dames Goedkoop . Nico Rosberg is not allowing himself to think about the possibility of wrapping up his first world title at this weekends Mexican Grand Prix.Rosberg leads teammate Lewis Hamilton by 26 points in the title race with 75 still on offer over the remaining three races. However, if he wins this weekend and Hamilton finishes tenth or fails to score, Rosberg will have accrued an unassailable lead in the championship.Of course Im aware of that, he said. Its an obvious calculation that everyone is telling me and its great because Im excited to be in a championship battle at the end of the year.Thats awesome and I couldnt ask for more at the moment, but for me the approach is to keep it simple and that works best and thats how I feel best.I will concentrate on the race win and whats at hand at the weekend. So I go to Mexico fully focused on the win and thats it. Very simple.Following his victory at the U.S. Grand Prix last weekend, Hamilton talked about his fear of reliability issues striking while he was leading the race. But Rosberg, who has a near perfect reliability record this year, says such thoughts do not enter his mind. No, its not in my control. I completely focus on the job at hand and try to block that out. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Marcell Dareus is confident he can finally begin focusing on playing football after the Bills star defensive tackle spent a four-game suspension confronting personal issues ?? including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder -- that were holding him back.Im happy to be back, and Im a better person, Dareus said Wednesday, after rejoining the Bills for practice for the first time in six weeks.I really feel I got exactly what I needed. I really sought out help when I never really asked for it, so I can take the proper steps to really help myself be the person that I want to be.Dareus understands the onus is on him after being disciplined by the NFL for violating the leagues substance abuse policy for a second consecutive season.Talk is cheap, Dareus said, reiterating a comment he made in August, when first addressing news of his suspension. Its not about words. Its all action now.Dareus revealed he did not enter a rehabilitation facility, as he initially said he would when being excused from the team on Aug. 20.Instead, Dareus sought consultation from a life coach and leaned on the advice of several Bills Hall of Famers, including defensive end Bruce Smith.Dareus acknowledged one unresolved personal issue was ADHD, which hes struggled with since his college days at Alabama. He also said he received positive reinforcement from people who dont want anything from me.The Bills top-paid player previously complained hes tried to avoid returning home to Alabama because of various distractions.Im just happy with what I did over the four weeks. I really was proactive, Dareus said. Im really optimistic of the future. The first step takes place on Sunday, when Buffalo (2-2) travels to play Los Angeles (3-1).Though Dareus is on Buffalos exempt list, coach Rex Ryan fully anticipates him to be activated by the end of the week. You hope that they learn from the mistake that they make, thats the first thing, Ryan said. And then you hope that hes ready to go and hes eager and excited about the opportunity to come back and be part of this football team. And I can tell you right now the answer is yes. So its a great thing. Im happy to get him back, I can promise you that.Dareus is a two-time Pro Bowl selection and has been a starter since Buffalo selected him with the No. 3 pick in the 2011 draft. At 6-foot-3 and 331 pounds, Dareus has been a disruptive force in the middle because of his strength to shed blockers and is also quick on his feet.Off-field issues have been the only concern involving Dareus.Though the NFL did not reveal the reason behind the suspension, Dareus said it was because of a missed drug test. His one-game suspension last year stemmed from Dareus being charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after being stopped by police in his native Alabama in May 2014.The charges were dropped when Dareus agreed to enter an NFL substance abuse program. Also in May 2014, he was arrested after crashing his Jaguar into a tree near a busy suburban intersection not far from the teams practice facility. Dareus reached a plea agreement to have the charges dropped.Dareus declined to discuss his past by saying he wants to move forward. He rejoins a defense thats started showing signs of establishing an aggressive identity , and a team thats won two straight following a 16-0 win at New England on Sunday. The Patriots were limited to 277 yards, 13 first downs and blanked at home for the first time since 1993.In a 33-18 win over Arizona a week earlier, the Bills had five sacks and forced five turnovers.Dareus said the worst part of being suspended was watching the Bills play without him.Oh, man, it was a killer, bro, he said. It ate me up inside.Dareus said hes in good shape and is up for playing as many snaps as possible.Coach and them dont want me to kill myself, Dareus said, referring to Ryans plan of easing him back. Im pretty eager to get out there. I have a lot of pent-up aggression. Im ready to go, I can say that much.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL Mets Jerseys China . SAN DIEGO -- Major League Baseball doesnt think minor leaguers should be entitled to overtime.Minor leaguers filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in San Francisco two years ago, alleging their pay violates federal and state minimum wage and overtime laws. The case could go to trial next year. Two members of the House of Representatives, Kentucky Republican Brett Guthrie and Illinois Democrat Cheri Bustos, introduced legislation last month that would amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 to state no employer could be subject to liability under that law for work performed by minor league baseball players, who are not unionized. Six days later, Bustos announced she was withdrawing her support of the proposed legislation, which is called the Save Americas Pastime Act.This is not a dollars-and-cents issue, baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred said Tuesday during his annual meeting with the Baseball Writers Association of America. It is the irrationality of the application of traditional workplace overtime rules to minor league baseball players. It just makes no sense. I want to take extra BP -- am I working, or am I not working? Travel time -- is every moment that youre on a bus, is that your commute that you dont get paid for or is that working time? Wheres the clock? Whos going to punch a clock to keep track of those hours? When youre eating in a clubhouse with a spread that the employer provided, is that working time or is that your lunch break?Minor league minimums are $1,100 a month for a five-month season at Class A, $1,500 a month at Double-A and $2,150 at Triple-A, and players get $25 meal money on road trips and a dinner is provided at ballparks after games.ddddddddddddFor players on 40-man major league rosters who are optioned to the minors, the minimum is $41,400 per season.U.S. Magistrate Judge Joseph C. Spero granted a motion last October to give the case conditional class action status. We could figure out the economics, Manfred said. The administrative burden associated with the application of these laws to professional athletes that were never intended to apply to professional athletes is the real issue. And the litigation is going to run its course, but I have to tell you this is area where excessive regulation could have a really dramatic impact on the size of minor league baseball. The Major League Baseball Players Association, which represents players with big league contracts on 40-man rosters, issued a statement last month saying it believes that all workers, including athletes who are directly employed by the major and minor league clubs, are entitled to the statutory protections afforded them by all of the employment laws of the United States and the various states and municipalities, including the protections for both minimum wages and overtime work.Weve been engaged and are obviously attentive to everything that is going on there, union head Tony Clark told the BBWAA. We are watching closely as to how this plays out, and based on how it moves, one way or the other, may largely determine what role if any or what commentary if any we take. ' ' '

The Houston Texans have been out-gained by a half yard per play this season and have a minus-9 turnover margin, but theyre currently in first place because the AFC South is a very bad division. The Texans, Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars have all struggled over the past few years, which begs the question: Is the AFC South the worst division in recent NFL history? Lets compare it to every division of the past 15 years, since the NFL adopted the format of eight four-team divisions in 2002.It would be easy to just look at which divisions had the fewest total wins, but that opens the door for one team to drag a whole division down. It can also penalize whichever division drew the leagues strongest teams in the rotating schedule. For example, the AFC North is on pace to average just 5.6 wins per team this season -- it doesnt help that the Cleveland Browns havent won a game yet, or that collectively the teams drew this years best division, the NFC East, in interconference play.In order to go beyond wins and losses and adjust for strength of schedule, we measured every division from the past 15 years using Football Outsiders DVOA ratings. DVOA is Football Outsiders proprietary Defense-adjusted Value Over Average metric, which looks at a teams performance on every play and adjusts based on situation and opponent, explained further here.?Instead of using simple average, we looked at the harmonic mean?of each teams rank in DVOA. That prevents one horrible team from having too much influence on the rating of the division as a whole. Teams are listed below with win-loss record and DVOA rank. When looking at the worst divisions in the NFL since 2002, one division clearly stands out. The AFC South has been bad, but one division was much worse ... until Pete Carroll and Jim Harbaugh came along.10. 2015 NFC EastIt has been quite a turnaround for the NFC East, from one of the worst divisions in recent memory to the best division in the NFL this season. Last year, an average NFC East team wouldve ranked 21st in the league. This year, it would rank seventh. The lowest NFC East team in our ratings this year, the Giants, ranks higher (14th) than the best team did last year. Nike Air Max 270 Aanbieding . PHILADELPHIA -- The Eagles sideline was fuming after a brutal hit by Washington Redskins safety Deshazor Everett on a defenseless Darren Sproles early in the fourth quarter on Sunday, and plenty of players were still simmering in the locker room afterward.Obvious cheap shot. Darren was trying to field the ball, the guy hits him before the ball gets there, said tight end Zach Ertz. Ive honestly never seen the guy before, didnt know who he was going into the game, and if thats how he wants to make a name for himself, then so be it.I thought it was B.S. Darren didnt even have the ball, and the guy tried to take his head off. He tried to take Brent [Celek]s head off, kind of knocked him out of the game, too. I dont know who that guy is, but yeah, I thought it was B.S.With just under 12 minutes remaining, Sproles sprinted forward to field a Washington punt. While tracking the ball, Everett crashed into Sproles, who took the blow primarily to the head and was shot backward, hitting the turf hard. He then left the game to be evaluated for a head injury. The scuffle that followed was eventually broken up by the refs. Tackle Jason Peters, who famously drilled Washington defensive lineman Chris Baker after his vicious hit on quarterback Nick Foles in 2014, decided he could not afford to be ejected this time around.I was just thinking: Im about to get this guy. That was a cheap shot, said Peters, who led an Eagles pack that swarmed to Sproles defense.I wanted to get him. I was going to get him. But I dont have a backup right now. I just couldnt get thrown out of the game, and I just had to step back and let the referees handle it. But I wanted to get him.Everett contended that it wasnt an intentionally dirty hit.Football is a split-second game, and unfortunately I did not make the right decision, but I was just giving my full effort to go out there and make a tackle, he said.My condolences to him, and you never wish that to happen to anyone.Sproles, 33, ranks eighth in NFL history in all-purpose yards. Weighing in at 5-foot-6, 190 pounds, he has earned respect league-wide for his work ethic and accomplishments over 11 seasons.Thats a possible Hall-of-Famer. Dudes got respect from people all around the league, said linebacker Mychal Kendricks. And I dont know who 22 is, but hopefully he has the same amount of respect for him. The Nigerian mens soccer team didnt show any fatigue from a last-minute trip that brought the players to Brazil just hours before their Rio Olympics opener, beating Japan 5-4 Thursday night.A mix-up at the airport forced Nigeria to make a late flight from Atlanta to Brazil. The team arrived in the jungle city of Manaus about six hours before overcoming jet leg and the heat and humidity in the Amazon city to win a thrilling game. The teams spokesman posted a picture on Twitter of the team boarding the plane with the message here we go and later displayed images of members going through immigration and collecting luggage. The team faced the uncomfortable situation of spending the day of its debut at the Olympics aboard an airplane on a more than six-hour flight and facing a Japan team that was in Brazil for several days preparing for the contest. There are conflicting reports about how the team ended up in this position.Bunmi Jinadu, founder of United Soccer Africa, disputed reports that the team missed its original flight because of a money issue between the Nigerian government and a charter company. Delta Air Lines cited a communications mix-up that grounded the teams original Friday flight.Jinadu said the problem stemmed from poor planning and coordination on the part of the Nigerian team in leaving Atlanta, where it has been training to prepare for the games. He said the team had assumed it could simply buy plane tickets to Rio at the last minute -- just like Nigerians do in their home country to book travel. They then encountered a crush of travelers and lack of flights at the busy Atlanta airport, where sseveral Brazil-bound trips were originating.dddddddddddd The team thought it had a backup plan on Wednesday, but the plane wasnt big enough to accommodate the team, Jinadu said. The flight the team finally boarded was on a chartered Delta jet. A spokesperson for Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines said it stepped in to help the team get to its destination -- free of charge -- after learning of the flight issue. The plane normally is used to transport NBA teams, and the same aircraft will fly the U.S. mens basketball team back to the U.S. after the Olympics.Atlanta was the site of Nigerias greatest soccer triumph as it won the gold medal there in the 1996 Olympics. This came to our attention on the 20th anniversary of the Nigerian football teams win at the Atlanta games, said Delta spokesperson Betsy Talton. Everyone was happy to help them with another miracle by getting them to Manaus.Jinadu said the mood remained upbeat among the players as they headed to Brazil at the last minute.Nigeria has tough skin, he said. All the players playing on this team know this is their livelihood and they have been overly anxious to get to Rio.Its not the first time an African soccer team had to make a last-minute flight for a high-profile match in Brazil. In 2014, Cameroons World Cup team refused to board a plane to take them to Brazil because of a dispute over bonus payments for the tournament. Their national soccer federation took out a loan to meet their demands, and the team caught a later flight. ' ' '

At 6 for 86, Pat Cummins came in to bat. Andre Russell, the Sydney Thunders expensive T20 master, had just played an innings where his last three balls were a series of shots he was not in control of. The Thunder were falling apart, and Russells wicket was followed by another one, meaning that Cummins had to bat in the 12th over.Unlike Russell, Cummins supported the in-form Ryan Gibson, who had been starved of the strike by wickets at the other end. The two started to rebuild an innings that had very nearly lost the plot, and then, when they were back on solid ground, hit out. Cummins batting choices were better than Russells too: instead of trying to hit every ball for six, no matter where the ball was, he waited for deliveries that were in his strike zones. When a slower ball entered his slot, he knocked it into the crowd. He cleared his front leg well to slog sweep for another six. One last one in the slot disappeared over midwicket. And when he was finally out, his original 8 off nine balls had ballooned to 30 off 20. Clint McKay got a couple away in his short innings as well, an accidental four and a muscled six.So what you have is your No. 8 playing the role of your No 6, and your No. 9 playing the role of your No. 8. They totaled 44 from their 31 balls and were the difference between no score and a decent score for the Thunder. The Sixers chase was almost taken over by Jason Roy, on a one-man mission to see how far he could hit the ball. But when he was out, to a beautiful bit of deception from a Russell slower ball, Moises Henriques came to the crease for the last few deliveries of the Powerplay. Russell decided, even with the fine-leg up, that he was going to bowl very fast right at him straight away. He did, and Henriques was late on the hook and got only an edge, which ballooned very slowly towards leg slip.McKay was the man on the end of it. He made superb ground to the ball, but when he got there, it was as if he wasnt sure how to complete the catch. The ball trickled away. Russell got a consolation high five from a fielder for producing the error. The game went on and so did the partnership. Both batsmen were still together in the 13th over when McKay was bowling to Henriques. McKay went short at Henriques again, almost like it was a plan, and Henriques tried a big pull but just skied it towards the circle. Two fielders attacked the ball: Cummins from midwicket and Russell from long-on. The ball was in the air a long time; it always looked like Russells catch, but it was Cummins who tried to take it by running back and looking over his shoulder. It was Cummins who didnt catch it.It was Henriques who should have been out first ball, caught McKay, bowled Russell. It was Henriques who should have been out 25th ball for 28, caught Russell, bowled McKay. It was Henriques who was not out 76 off 41, hitting the winning runs for the Sixers. You have four guys. Henriques makes a big score quickly and, in key overs where he attacks, he takes it from a potentially tricky chase to a stroll with controlled quality hitting. But he should have been out twice, both times a clear plan and a weakness showed up.Then you have Cummins, who saved the innings with sensible batting and hit out well to pump the score up to something he and his bowlers could bowl at. His first over was quality, in his second Roy got after him as can happen in a Powerplay, and then his third over Henriques faced five balls and took him for 20.Now with McKay, you have someone not expecting to bat facing far more balls than usual, batting with the No. 10 for the last over, and getting away two boundaries. His first over is taken for ten, but he starts his second over with the ball that should have dismissed Henriques. Instead he ends the over getting smashed for two more fours and not bowling again. Finally we have Russell, who in his last three balls was crazy. One was an edge that was safe; one was a mis-hit that was safe and then one was an edge that was out. With the ball it was Russell who dismissed Roy, it was Russell who should have taken Henriques wicket first ball and then his catch later on. Instead, he ended up with 1/27 off his four overs and the second-best economy rate of the night. So here is the problem, I watched the game, I watched some highlights, and I read the scorecard, but I have no way of accurately saying with numbers how well any of these guys actually played. How much impact they made, positively or negatively for their side.If you look at Cummins, he more than doubled his highest score, hit three sixes. Before today he had made 79 runs from 87 balls. So he is a weak No. 8, and he more than did his job and his runs were at least 25 more than you would expect from him. He went at 12.6 an over when he bowled, and the match average was 8.4. So that is 13 runs more than the average bowler. He also didnt take a wicket, or even produce a chance, so for a strike bowler, that is a negative of at least ten runs. But most importantly to the result of the match he dropped the catch, which officially cost 48 runs, and so his net total to the game is -46.The problem with subtracting the amount of runs from a drop is that you can drop a player on nought with the most simple drop ever and if he still makes nought, you arent penalised. If you drop Chris Gayle on nought from a tough chance, and he makes 288* from 49 balls, suddenly you are -288 before going out to bat. And if that was all we didnt know from the stats we have from this match, that would be one thing, but we have an ocean of unknowns, and very few of us who watch cricket all the time have tried to answer them. And the problem with all my other numbers is Ive just tried to use them to get an answer on how much impact each player made.
