I am not even certain when I feel this is a fantastic thing or not, but I really do love that ROB and Duck Hunt have been from the game since I like Smash for picking the unconventional path. Whether or not it's a fantastic thing, it is clear over and over again that Sakurai's leadership is focused on gaming history and interesting fighters, so it is futile clamoring for this game to comprehend celebrity quality
Dude, I don't know how to tell you this, but being a"favorite character" was NEVER a requirement for getting into Smash Bros.. Ever. Iconography and fame aren't some kind of sacred thing to consume. The only thing Sakurai has ever said on the subject is the figures he puts in need to be out of a video game (obviously) and be able to have a realized moveset in Smash. That's it. And judging from all of the decades of"Ridley too big" and his position as a boss-monster at Smash, I envision Sakurai himself had difficulty imagining Ridley smash-ified, that is why his inclusion required so long. Uh no, it's not though. The shape, structure and proportions of Ridley's model in smash aren't at all like how he's in the first Metroid.
And trying have a personality with a feel that fits in to Smash is a lot tougher than you are making it outside. It's not only about the move set not being complex, about the character feeling like they belong in this smash-ified world, while nevertheless being recognizably that character. Maybe this can be a more vague idea than that I could get round, so I want to attempt using an illustration. While every one the characters in that game are recognizably those characters, the way that they move in the game, how they fight, how they play off of each other, only... does not really do the job. Something about it always seems, and doesn't quite feel like a cohesive game. And that's what I am talking about; making a balance at which a character is recognizably nevertheless the character they are, while also making them feel"right" in the context of a celebration fighting game similar to this.
