Detroit Lions sign DB DeShawn Shead Just a couple weeks ago Cheap Jarrad Davis Jersey , the Detroit Lions cut DeShawn Shead in a somewhat surprising move as they cut their roster down to 53 prior to the regular season. Shead was considered an important free agency addition to Detroit’s thin secondary, but his play throughout training camp, stunted by injury, wasn’t enough to justify a roster spot then. However, it appears conditions have changed. The Lions announced on Wednesday that they’ve re-signed Shead to the team. One of those conditions that may have changed is the status of No. 1 cornerback Darius Slay, who left Sunday’s game against the 49ers with a concussion. At this point, we don’t know where Slay is in the concussion protocol nor do we know his status for this week’s game http://www.lionscheapstore.com/matt-prater-jersey-cheap , but Shead’s addition certainly seems like it may cast doubt on his availability. Additionally, the Lions have not seen good play out of their other outside cornerbacks. Nevin Lawson lost the starting No. 2 corner job to Teez Tabor in Week 2, but Tabor was benched shortly after his first start against the 49ers after a miscommunication led to a touchdown. Shead entered training camp this year as a starter but slowly fell out of favor. With the clear secondary struggles through two weeks and the injury to Darius Slay, Shead has a real chance to recapture that job as soon as this week against the Patriots. In addition to adding Shead, the team announced that edge defender Alex Barrett has been released from the practice squad while wide receiver Keon Hatcher takes his place. Hatcher made his NFL debut with the Raiders in Week 1, playing 16 special teams snaps for the squad. He also snagged three touchdowns in Oakland’s preseason finale. After Sunday’s breakout performance, Detroit Lions running back Kerryon Johnson now ranks second in the NFL in yards per carry among running backs (6.4) and ninth in rushing yards (444). He’s now grabbed national attention after scorching the Dolphins Cheap Matthew Stafford Jersey , and that has translated into Vegas odds.According to Bovada.LV, Johnson now has the fourth best odds for the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Here’s a look at the top seven and their corresponding odds:Baker Mayfield: 11/10Saquon Barkley: 3/2Sam Darnold: 7/1Kerryon Johnson: 16/1Calvin Ridley: 20/1Nick Chubb: 25/1Michael Gallup: 25/1Johnson clearly experienced a huge jump in odds after his 158-yard performance last Sunday. Last week, he had just 33/1 odds for the postseason honor. It’s no surprise that Johnson has two rookie quarterbacks ahead of him as they tend to dominate postseason honors like this. As for Barkley, it’ll be interesting to see how the odds shake out for the rest of the year. The big difference between Barkley and Johnson is yards and touchdowns. Here are their stats side-by-side:Johnson: 69 rushes, 444 yards (6.4 YPC), 1 TD; 15 catches, 89 yardsBarkley: 98 rushes Cheap Darius Slay Jr Jersey , 481 yards (4.9 YPC), 5 TDs; 49 catches, 424 yards, 2 TDsAs you can see, Barkley is getting way more opportunities than Johnson and that has obviously led to much bigger overall stats, especially in the passing game. That’s likely to keep him ahead of Johnson for the foreseeable future in the Offensive Rookie of the Year race.Your weekly update: Golden Tate can still break tackles with the best of them: The Damon Harrison trade remains unofficial, but the Lions did make a minor transaction on Wednesday.
