DENVER -- After an abysmal road trip, the Colorado Rockies will try to regroup at home. It wont be easy since they begin a three-game series Monday with the Nationals and conclude their six-game homestand with a weekend series against the Cubs. The Rockies were swept in three games at Philadelphia, finishing a 1-4 road trip that began with two games at Texas. In the three losses to the Phillies, the Rockies starters combined to pitch just 11 1/3 innings. Tyler Chatwood pitched into the fourth Sunday but was dealing with the same upper back tightness that forced him out of a start in mid-June and onto the disabled list, causing him to miss two starts.Sundays loss was the ninth in 11 games for the Rockies, who are six games below .500 for the first time since July 22.Charlie Blackmon hit two homers Sunday, giving him five in the three-game series, a club record, and a career-high 20 homers, one more than he hit in 2014. Blackmon has raised his average to a season-high .324, the result of an astounding power surge. In his past nine games, Blackmon is hitting .548 (23-for-42) with three doubles, eight home runs, 14 RBI, 15 runs scored.Im seeing the ball well, but Im not going to get too excited about it, because I know tomorrow or next week or whatever, things arent going to go so well, said Blackmon, who is hitting .322 with nine homers at Coors Field and .326 with 11 homers on the road. The Rockies are hoping that Monday against the Nationals, left-handed starter Jorge De La Rosa can take some stress off the bullpen with a decent outing. De La Rosa will make his 300th major league appearance and 235th start Monday. Hes 2/3 with a 3.99 ERA (47 1/3 innings, 21 earned runs) in his past eight games with the Rockies 2-6 in those outings. While De La Rosa has been in those eight games, the Rockies have scored a combined 20 runs.He was not involved in the decision in a 5-4 loss Wednesday at Texas when he gave up seven hits and three runs in five innings and left trailing 3-1. De La Rosa is 4-3 with a 5.06 ERA in 10 games, seven starts, at home this season. Hes 5-1 with a 3.44 ERA in nine starts with the Rockies against the Nationals and 2-1 with a 2.53 ERA in five starts against them at Coors Field. The Rockies and Nationals will play for the first time this season. The Nationals have played every other club in the National League. In addition to the Nationals, the Rockies have still not played Milwaukee this season. The Nationals are embarking on a nine-game road trip that will also take them to Atlanta for four games and Baltimore for two. The Nationals 33-24 record on the road is the second-best road record in the majors. They have won three of their past four games and eight of their past 11. At 69-47, the Nationals are a season-high 22 games above .500.Left fielder Jayson Werth didnt play Sunday in Washingtons 9-1 win over Atlanta, keeping his on-base streak on hold. Werth has reached base in a career-high 42 straight games. Its the longest on-base streak in the majors this season and one behind the club record 43-game on-base streak of Ryan Zimmerman. His streak extended from April 8-May 25, 2009.Right fielder Bryce Harper, who had gone 9-for-67 (.134) with one homer and five RBI since the All-Star break and missed the previous five games with a stiff neck, returned to the lineup Sunday. He went 1-for-3 with a run-scoring double on his first at-bat and two runs scored. Nationals manager Dusty Baker was going to give Harper another day off but relented when he pleaded his case to play.Baker said, I told him No, and he told me Please. How do you tell a grown man (no) that says so politely that he wants to play? So, I put him back in the lineup. He actually sounded like a little kid when he said so, and you know Im partial to kids sometimes.Max Scherzer, who is 12-7 with a 2.80 ERA and leads the majors with 208 strikeouts, will start Monday for the Nationals. Hes 1-4 with a 4.35 ERA in four career starts against the Rockies and 0-3 with a 5.32 ERA in four starts at Coors Field. But Scherzer has been very good lately. In eight starts dating from June 29, Scherzer is 4-2 with a 1.44 ERA with 70 strikeouts and 11 walks in 56 1/3 innings. During that span, he has held opposing hitters to a .157 average and a .472 OPS. Wholesale Air Max Cheap . I cant pinpoint a date, but I do remember a player from my youth. Webb Simpson, playing his first competitive round at Firestone Country Club, shot a 6-under 64 on Thursday to take a one-stroke lead in the Bridgestone Invitational. It all came down to trust. "Well, I knew it all through my caddie (Paul Tesori), whos been here so many years," Simpson said. "I just kind of had to listen to him." Tesori has caddied for years on tour, for Vijay Singh and Jerry Kelly, in addition to being a pro himself. "Its hard for us players to listen to our caddies, but he basically showed me where to go yesterday and told me where to hit it, where the lines were, what clubs to hit," said Simpson, the 2012 U.S. Open champion. "I didnt feel like it was my first time because he has so much experience here." Seven-time Bridgestone winner Tiger Woods did not have to rely so much on the man on his bag, Joe LaCava, while shooting a 66. Woods has 11 top-10 finishes in his 13 starts at the course, so he clearly knows where to go. Still, he needed his counsel from time to time. "I hit a lot of good shots. I had a really good feel for the distance today, and Joey and I really read the wind right today," Woods said after his best opening round at the course since another 66 spurred him to a one-shot victory in 2005. "We changed a lot of shots out there, and we both had a really good handle on what we were doing feel-wise with the wind." Henrik Stenson was alone in second with a 65. Defending champion Keegan Bradley, Ryan Moore and Chris Wood, another first-time entrant, matched Woods at 66. Simpson had six birdies in an eight-hole span. There was only one glitch. "I wish I didnt bogey the last hole," he said after missing the green on the par 4 and failing to get up and down. "Its one area Ive got to get better at. When Im between clubs, hitting more club and swinging easy is where Ive been struggling. "You know, theres always something to work on." Simpson hasnt won this season. He called his year "encouraging and frustrating." "I feel like Ive let a couple of tournaments go that maybe I should have closed out," he said. Stenson started out birdie, eagle -- hitting his second shot 243 yards on the par-5 hole to inside 4 feet. He slowed down from there, parring every hole except for birdies at the 11th and 12th holes. He had more problems with his outfit than the course. He was breaking in a new pair of shoes and felt a blister coming on at the turn, so had to switch to an older pair that didnt necessarily fit with his ensemble. "They might not match thee outfit perfectly, but it felt like I had socks on compared to the other ones," he said, grinning.dddddddddddd Woods would have a nice career if only World Golf Championship events, such as the Bridgestone, counted. He won three in a row (1999-2001) at Firestone, then had three top-five finishes before reeling off victories in his next four appearances (2005-2009), and missing the 2008 tournament while recovering from knee surgery. In 41 WGC starts, he has 32 top-10 finishes. Theres something about Firestone that brings out the best in him. "Luckily, over the years Ive taken advantage of it," he said. "I have played well and Ive scored well, and Ive won my share of tournaments here." Bradley won the Bridgestone a year ago when he shot a closing 64, and Jim Furyk, who had led all week, double-bogeyed the closing hole. Bradley put together a workmanlike, efficient 66 that didnt include a bogey. The 2011 PGA Championship winner doesnt want to stress out on defending his title. "No, its business as usual," he said. "I just want to not put too much pressure on myself to do anything crazy. I know this golf course fits me, so to let the course come to me is big here." Another shot back at 67 in the star-studded field were Furyk, Jason Dufner, Bubba Watson, Rickie Fowler, Bill Haas and Luke Donald. Fowler was speaking for a lot of players when he said that there are a lot of similarities between Firestone and Oak Hill, the site of the PGA Championship next week. "If the course stays dry and it starts to firm up through the weekend, its very comparable as far as youve got to drive the ball well and position yourself off the tee," said Fowler, who practiced at Oak Hill on Monday. "Its a great warm-up here, but obviously this is one of our bigger weeks of the year, too. Two great weeks, back-to-back, and two great golf courses." While the worlds top-ranked player, Woods, was in prime position, that wasnt necessarily the case for Nos. 2 and 3. Phil Mickelson, coming off his dramatic victory at the British Open two weeks ago, struggled with his concentration and came in with a 72. "Tonight Ill get a little bit more rest and try not to do too much and see if I can come out tomorrow a little bit more focused," he said. He missed two par putts inside 3 feet on consecutive holes early in his round. Rory McIlroy shot a 70. The defending PGA champion is winless this year. "I just threw a few shots away around the greens," he said. "You know, you start to save shots there and all of a sudden youre 3- , 4- or 5-under par." cheap falcons jerseyscheap ravens jerseyscheap bills jerseyscheap bears jerseyscheap bengals jerseyscheap cowboys jerseyscheap lions jerseyscheap texans jerseyscheap colts jerseyscheap jaguars jerseyscheap chiefs jerseyscheap rams jerseyscheap dolphins jerseyscheap vikings jerseyscheap saints jerseyscheap giants jerseyscheap jets jerseyscheap eagles jerseyscheap steelers jerseyscheap 49ers jerseys ' ' '
