DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings have figured out what they need to do to beat the Boston Bruins. Custom Minnesota Vikings Jerseys . Detroit used its skill to win Game 1 against the Presidents Trophy-winning Bruins. Boston evened its first-round series against the eighth-seeded Red Wings by beating them up physically. The Red Wings want to flip the script in Game 3 on Tuesday night when the series shifts to Joe Louis Arena. Detroit defenceman Brendan Smith said emotions got the best of him when he stood skate to skate and face to chest with Bostons 6-foot-9 defenceman, Zdeno Chara, during Sundays game. Smith said the Red Wings have to play their fast-paced game and avoid trying to get physical with the bigger, bruising Bruins. Here are five things to watch when the series resumes in Detroit: PLAY POOL OR FIGHT?: Detroit does not want to play Bostons game. Red Wings coach Mike Babcock explained why in quite a unique way on Monday, when he was asked what his message was to Smith about challenging Chara. "You walk into the bar and theres this beautiful young gal standing next to this 6-foot-5 monster, who you know makes his living fighting for a living and youre the best pool player in the bar," Babcock said. "Are you going to play pool or are you going to fight?" LOUI, LOUI!: Bruins forward Loui Eriksson failed to play up to high expectations during the regular season after Boston traded Tyler Seguin -- a young, rising star -- to the Dallas Stars for him last summer. Eriksson had 10 goals and 37 points in 61 games, a far cry from the 70-plus seasons in each of the three years before the lockout-shortened season, at least in part because of a concussion that kept him out of the lineup. In the playoffs, Eriksson has been healthy and productive. The Swede assisted on the first goal of Sundays 4-1 win and is one of just six players on his team with a positive plus-minus rating through two games against Detroit. "Loui has just been good for us ever since he got over those injuries," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. ISNT THAT SPECIAL: Boston evened the best-of-seven series because it took advantage of power plays, and didnt let Detroit score with an extra skater. The Bruins scored on two of four power plays and held Detroit to 0 for 4 when it had a man advantage in Game 2. "Were in the box for too many penalties and down the road that can hurt you," Bruins coach Claude Julien said Monday before his team travelled to Detroit. "So playing within the rules and being physical is part of our strength, so we have to be that team." The Red Wings have scored only one power-play goal in 19 chances over the last five games overall. NYQUIST, NILL: Detroits Gustav Nyquist does not have one goal in the eight games since he skated around Chara and scored the game-winner in a 3-2 victory over Boston on April 2. With that goal, he had scored 23 times in 28 games after having just 63 NHL games of experience. Alex Ovechkin and Pavel Bure were the only other NHL players who had pulled off that feat since the 1989-90 season. "Suddenly, instead of being a guy nobody ever heard of, like last year in the playoffs, youre a guy they heard of," Babcock said. "His space is probably a little harder to come by. HOLDING SERVE: The Red Wings took home-ice advantage by opening the series with a 1-0 victory on Pavel Datsyuks dazzling play and sharp shot, and they hope to keep it by winning Game 3 on Tuesday night and Game 4 on Thursday night. After the first two games were split on the road, Smith insisted where games are played do play a factor. "For sure, it matters," Smith said. "I any series, home ice matters. ... I think coming back home is going to help us a lot." Mike Remmers Vikings Jersey . City has reached new heights under manager Manuel Pellegrini as they transition from big spending/immediate impact to perennial contender. Yaya Toures seeming discontent Tuesday may complicate that, as does the little issue of Financial Fair Play. The Wizards gave up two seldom-used players — forward Jan Vesely and point guard Eric Maynor. Vesely goes to the Nuggets, while Maynor gets shipped to the 76ers. Philadelphia receives two second-round draft picks, one from the Wizards in 2015 and one from the Nuggets in 2016.The Montreal Canadiens, behind a 35-save performance from Dustin Tokarski, squeezed out a 3-2 overtime win over the New York Rangers in Game Three, cutting the Rangers lead in the series to two games to one. Tokarski, a somewhat controversial choice -- with his 10 games of NHL experience and all -- to replace an injured Carey Price in Game Two had a night to remember, turning back a Rangers team that was dominating play from the get-go, outshooting the Canadiens 14-4 in the first period and 37-25 overall. The Rangers had 58.2% of the shot attempts during 5-on-5 play. The winning goal, at 1:12 of overtime, came on a rebound that was kicked out by Rangers G Henrik Lundqvist and hit Canadiens LW Alex Galchenyuk in the neck, bouncing back into the Rangers net. It was Galchenyuks only shot attempt of the game in his second game of this years playoffs. The games last three goals all came on unusual bounces. The Canadiens took a 2-1 lead with 3:02 remaining when Daniel Brieres attempt to stuff a rebound off the end boards was knocked in by a sliding Ryan McDonagh. Then, with the Rangers goaltender pulled in the final minute, Dan Girardi sent a puck towards the net, it deflected off Rangers LW Chris Kreider, then off the heel of Canadiens D Alexei Emelin, earning a tie with 29 seconds left in regulation. Galchenyuk wasnt the only Canadiens player to score his first of the postseason in Game Three. Veteran D Andrei Markov scored Montreals first goal. The Rangers first goal was knocked in by Carl Hagelin, his fifth of the playoffs, tying him with Martin St. Louis and Brad Richards for the Rangers team lead. St. Louis had a game-high 11 shot attempts in Game Three, including a couple of Grade A chances, including a onne-time shot on a 2-1, which immediately preceded Hagelins goal, and was stopped by Canadiens D Josh Gorges. Trevor Siemian Jersey. . Rangers D Kevin Klein doesnt get the tough matchups, but he had success in his role in Game Three, on the ice for 24 shot attempts for and six against (80.0%) during 5-on-5 play. The Rangers had 50.0% of the even-strength shots when Klein was off the ice. Klein and partner John Moore started every one of their shifts in the offensive or neutral zone. Canadiens C Lars Eller was the opposite to Klein, on for 23.1% of the shot attempts at 5-on-5 and Eller didnt attempt a shot the entire game, in 15:02 of ice time. Montreals win makes for a much more interesting series, to be sure. Game Three brought out some hostility that hadnt appeared earlier in the series. Canadiens LW Brandon Prust laid out Rangers C Derek Stepan (who returned to the game) with a late hit and later fought Derek Dorsett, but it wasnt just Prust. There were more extra pokes and physical confrontations throughout the game. Canadiens RW Brendan Gallagher and Rangers D Ryan McDonagh waged quite a battle throughout the game. While hostility between the clubs can make for a more interesting series, the fact that the series is 2-1 in favour of the Rangers, rather than 3-0, is reason enough to believe that the Canadiens have a chance to make something out of this situation. They probably cant count on having Tokarski get the better of Lundqvist in the goaltending matchup too often, but that got the Canadiens through Game Three and thats enough to keep their hope alive.
