Troubling as the details of the McLaren Report were, a news item out of Russia earlier this week was equally so. The new chair of the countrys revamped anti-doping agency will be Yelena Isinbayeva, the pole vault great who has spent the past year thumbing her nose at all the evidence and at those whove dared to mete out punishment for the malfeasance.Isinbayevas appointment to the RUSADA board, made a mere two days before Part 2 of the McLaren report arrived, was all you needed to conclude that either Russia does not fully grasp the depths of depravity that Richard McLaren painstakingly detailed in his 144-page report or, maybe worse, that it just doesnt care. The details in McLarens report, released Friday, are as predictable as they are terrible. The 1,000 athletes and who-knows-how-many government and quasi-government officials involved in Russias doping scandal are symbols not of a system that failed to catch its cheats, but of one that was undercut by the very people wed presume were hired to protect it.Isinbayeva herself was never implicated in the doping scandal, and when all but one member of the Russian track team was barred from the Rio Olympics, she paid a heavy price. The two-time gold medalist and world-record holder stayed back because tracks international federation had the courage to declare that anyone involved in the Russian sports machine simply could not compete, given the evidence that had been unearthed to that point.Isinbayeva called the suspension a blatant political order, claiming, as many in her government did, that Russia was being unfairly targeted as part of an East vs. West power play. She called it a violation of human rights, and vowed to prove to the IAAF and World Anti-Doping Agency that they made the wrong decision. After Fridays report came out, she said of course its in my interests not to allow the situation which I ended up in, so that our athletes from our country are treated the same as everyone else.Though she was applauded -- and is now being rewarded -- in her own country and elsewhere for taking this stance, her words are not those of someone who either grasps the seriousness of the problem, or is devoted to bringing meaningful change. Is anyone in Russia devoted to that? Hours after the report went public, Russian deputy prime minister Vitaly Mutko, implicated in the report as an architect of the doping program, said the country would move into the legal arena, and that it was simply not realistic ... to do what they are accusing us of.Indeed, were it not for the excruciating detail McLaren took to conduct his research, it would be hard to believe intelligence agents could open sealed doping bottles and replace tainted urine with clean to beat the drug-testing system at the Sochi Games. McLaren found Russians who won 15 medals in Sochi had their samples tampered with. He said Russias doping program also corrupted the 2012 London Olympics on an unprecedented scale. Those were Isinbayevas last games.Since being barred from Rio, she has retired from the sport, won a spot on the IOC and, now, become the chair of RUSADA.WADA protested, saying it was supposed to have been consulted about important moves, such as the naming of RUSADAs new board. For WADA to hope that anyone -- say, the IOC -- will have its back on this is only that: hoping. The IOC is the same body that rejected WADAs call to ban the entire Russian team from the Rio Games. It argued that it had to walk a careful line between anti-doping and politics, and that it needed to carefully weigh the consequences of collective responsibility versus individual justice, while basically ignoring the individual justice owed to the dozens of athletes who have been and might still be beaten by cheating Russians. How many of those Russians were in Rio de Janeiro?Time will tell. Though the track team was banned, Russia still sent 271 athletes to the Summer Games, and they combined for 55 medals.McLaren is forwarding the evidence from his report to the IOC and to the individual sports, and those bodies will decide what punishments to levy.Meanwhile, the Winter Olympics are only 14 months away, and already, questions about whether Russia should be eligible for those games are being asked.Heres one answer: Based on what we know from the McLaren Report, combined with Russias reaction and the IOCs history of handling these cases in something far weaker than zero-tolerance fashion, athletes who head to South Korea should presume they are not on a level playing field -- and then, simply hope for the best. From filmmaker Nanette Burstein (On the Ropes), The Price of Gold revisits the saga that rocked the figure skating world ahead of the 1994 Lillehammer Olympic Winter Games: the assault on Nancy Kerrigan, and the plot that led its way back to her rival Tonya Harding. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Brock Osweiler threw two touchdown passes, Kareem Jackson returned an interception 42 yards for a score and the Houston Texans handed the Jacksonville Jaguars another home loss, 24-13 Sunday. The Texans (6-3) scored on offense and defense and set up another score with special teams, a complete team effort that led to their first road win of the season and kept them perfect (3-0) against the AFC South. They won their fifth in a row against Jacksonville. The Jaguars (2-7) lost their fourth straight and fell to 0-4 at home. Coach Gus Bradleys team rallied late, with Blake Bortles hitting Allen Robinson for a touchdown and again for a 2-point conversion. But the Texans converted a third-and-5 play with 2 minutes to play, essentially ending the game. It dropped Bradleys record to 14-43 in four seasons and prompted even the most loyal supporters to question why owner Shad Khan hasnt made a change.Houston had been downright dismal on the road this season, scoring just one touchdown in lopsided losses at New England, Minnesota and Denver. The Texans found Jacksonville to be much more hospitable, especially on the opening drive. On the fifth play of the game, Jackson stepped in front of Allen Hurns, tipped the ball up, bobbled it, secured it and sauntered down the sideline before juking Bortles and high-stepping into the end zone.Osweiler made it 14-7 later in the first quarter with a 1-yard pass to wide-open tight end Ryan Griffin. Punt returner Tyler Ervin did most of the work on Houstons third touchdown, weaving his way for 57 yards and setting the Texans up at the 7-yard line. Osweiler hooked up with Stephen Anderson on the next play.Nick Novak, who missed two field goals earlier in the game, connected on a 51-yarder with 8::32 remaining that gave Houston some breathing room.ddddddddddddThe Jaguars struggled to move the ball consistently all afternoon and added to their lowlight reel in the second quarter when Bortles did the most Bortles thing of his career.Under heavy pressure and trying to ground the ball near tightly covered running back T.J. Yeldon, Bortles hit Yeldon in the foot. The ball bounced up and landed in linebacker Whitney Mercilus hands for an interception. It was Bortles second pick of the day and his sixth in the last five games.MISSING MENEven though it came against dysfunctional Jacksonville, Houstons victory was somewhat impressive considering how many key players the team was without.Starting receiver Will Fuller (knee), run-stuffing nose tackle Vince Wilfork (groin) and cornerback A.J. Bouye (ankle) were inactive. So was fellow receiver Jaelen Strong, leaving the Texans with just three healthy wideouts (DeAndre Hopkins, Braxton Miller and Keith Mumphrey). Houston turned to its tight ends for help.DROUGHT CONTINUESThe Jaguars failed once again to score a touchdown on their opening possession, extending the NFLs longest current TD drought to open games.Jacksonvilles streak is now at 23 games after Bortles interception. The Jaguars havent found the end zone on their opening drive since Week 2 of the 2015 season against Miami. Since then, they have 17 punts, three field goals and three turnovers -- all interceptions this season -- in their initial possessions. Bortles also threw opening-drive picks against Green Bay and Chicago.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFLCheap Authentic JerseysDiscount NFL JerseysWholesale NFL Camo JerseysCheap NFL Autographed JerseysChina Jerseys WholesaleWholesale JerseysCheap Jerseys StoreChina Jerseys WholesaleWholesale Throwback JerseysCheap Stitched JerseysChina NFL HoodiesCheap Authentic JerseysWholesale Jerseys ChinaCamo China NFL JerseysJerseys From China ' ' '
