STARKVILLE, Miss. --- Following almost two-hour weather delay, the Commodores came out to defeat the Mississippi State bulldogs in double overtime. The victory was the Commodores first SEC victory of the season, and fifth straight over the Bulldogs.Hannon Eberts came through for the Dores in the 104th minute for the game-winning goal. Eberts goal came off a fantastic run and assist by redshirt-junior Danae OHalloran, who powered up the field from Bulldog territory to rip a cross straight to the Somers, NY native.Amid the clangs of MSU cowbells and intermitted rainstorms, the Bulldogs took the early lead in the fourth minute off a set piece. Taking a free kick just outside the 18-yard box, MSUs shot ricocheted down off the bottom of the VU crossbar and into the back of the net.The Commodores movement throughout the first half kept the Bulldogs on their heels. Danae OHalloran and Sydney ODonnell continuously served the ball into the box, but the Commodores unable to finishLate in the second half the Commodores began playing with confidence.Forced to play physically the entire matchup, freshman midfielder Nia Dorsey gained possession in Bulldog territory after a fantastic cut. The Elkridge, MD native dribbled some 55-yards into the MSU box and connected a beautiful cross to Lydia Simmons. Simmons put a fantastic finish on the ball to tie the matchup in the 42nd minute. With the competition tied, Vandy headed into the locker room with momentum on its side, and used the power defensively as MSU won balls at midfield and kept possession throughout the first five minutes of the final half.Following the on slot of Bulldog shots, a yellow card awarded to the Bulldogs, which changed the tide of possession for the next 15 minutes. Simmons served a strong free kick into the box, which was batted down the MSU keeper. Second later, the Dores were back at it again offensively as OHalloran served an identical ball with the same result. The Commodores had an additional chance to take the lead as Simmons crossed the ball, to Grace Jackson. The freshman from Atlanta was unable to finish, as her diving header was saved by MSU keeper, Tanya de Souza. As the clock expired, the Bulldogs had two close opportunities to take the lead and the game, but were unable to finish in front of goal.Heading into sudden death overtime both squads were evenly matched on paper, tied with 14 shots, seven saves and three corners. Like the two halves prior, both the Commodores and Bulldogs had a slew of offensive opportunities, but were unable to finish throughout the first overtime periodLike MSU in the first period, Vanderbilt was on the offensive attack to begin the final ten minutes of OT right out of the gate. In the 100th minute, Eberts sent a shot wide, with Scarpa generating a shot on goal minutes later. After sprinting into the box, Eberts was ready and positioned in front of the Bulldog goal as OHalloran served the ball into the box to seal the victory.Vanderbilt returns home next week, hosting the Texas A&M Aggies Thursday at 7:00 pm for social media night. MINNEAPOLIS -- Like the afternoon light on a short December day in Minnesota, the Vikings have been fading fast. For all the fight theyve displayed over the last two months in trying to overcome their offenses injury-influenced limitations, the harsh reality is that the 5-0 start has given way to a 6-6 mark. Victory in the rest of their games is likely the only route to the playoffs, and even in that scenario theyd probably need some help from other teams.Well have to win out, linebacker Anthony Barr said after the Vikings fell 17-15 to league-leading Dallas on Thursday night. I was hoping to get this win today and go on a run, but hopefully it starts next week. The Vikings visit Jacksonville on Dec. 11 before hosting Indianapolis, traveling to Green Bay and wrapping up against Chicago. Finishing on a four-game winning streak, as they did in 2012 to make the playoffs after falling to 6-6, wouldnt be a stunner even with the depleted offensive line and nonfactor running attack. Their 4-6 record in the NFC wont help their tiebreaker cause in the wild-card race, though, and theyd need to finish one game ahead of division-leading Detroit (7-4) to defend their NFC North title.Games among fellow conference competitors down the stretch will help guarantee some of the losses theyd need, but the crowd of teams in the mix is much bigger than the ones that are out of it.Now we go win four in a row. Thats our only chance essentially, linebacker Chad Greenway said. Thats our mentality. Weve done it before.Theres a chance that star running back Adrian Peterson will return during the final stretch from the right knee he hurt in the second game of the season. Perhaps tackles T.J. Clemmings and Jeremiah Sirles, repeatedly overmatched by recent opponents with the Vikings up to their seventh starting combinationn, will settle in and help keep quarterback Sam Bradford from feeling too much pressure.dddddddddddd Maybe the defense can repeat the stellar performance it produced against the Cowboys and their potent offense. The first priority, though, is to get coach Mike Zimmer back after emergency surgery Wednesday night to repair a detached retina in his right eye. That kept him from joining the team against the Cowboys while special teams coordinator Mike Priefer took over the main mans responsibilities .Vikings players were given off until practice Tuesday morning, with no availability with anyone in the organization scheduled until then. Team spokesman Bob Hagan had no update on the condition of the coach, who was scheduled for a doctor visit Friday. He eats, sleeps, drinks football. This is a guy who really wanted to be here tonight for us, cornerback Captain Munnerlyn said. For him not to be here, we know it probably kind of hurt him a little bit. At the same time, hes got to take care of his health and be ready to roll when he can go.Zimmers defense did him proud against Dez Bryant, Ezekiel Elliott, Dak Prescott and the rest of the Cowboys. Minnesota held them to season lows and well under their game averages in first downs, points and yards. Two big whiffs, letting Prescott scramble for 15 yards on third-and-14 and allowing Bryant to get loose in the secondary later on the possession, led to the first touchdown for Dallas. The Cowboys had only one other drive that went longer than 33 yards, and that time Everson Griffen forced a fumble.Weve got to find a way to win these, Griffen said.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFL Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Cheap Jerseys Wholesale Wholesale Jerseys 2020 Wholesale Jerseys China NFL Jerseys Wholesale Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys ' ' '
